We need more informations to figure out from where comes your problem, can you tell us which ROM you're using ? It really exists an option to prevent your Device from Vibrating, all that you have to do is to Uncheck Vibrate in "Settings->Sound" (3rd line for my case)
Best regards !
Still vibrating
Hi,
I have settings/sound = never. I dont have the option you detailed. I think it may be a rom thing. I have the latest solstice.
The options I have are:
- vibrate - always
- never
- only in silent
- only when not silent
ROM?

Hello,
Which ROM you're using right now?
-Its name in case of a Custom ROM,
-Its Version(Eclair 2.1, FroYo 2.2, GingerBread 2.3 or even Donut 1.6 [Android Version] ) ?
Hi,
as I said, I was using the latest solstice release which is an AOSP rom 2.3.7. I have now got ICS installed, and dont have the problem now. Thanks anyhow.
For those who want to delete annoying ringtone or alarm sounds from stock one, here is a simple solution to change it
You need : Root Explorer / Root Browser
1. Go to root.
2. Open system/media/audio
3. (See, there are 4 folders : alarm, notification, ringtone, and ui) Choose folder that you want.
4. If you don't like the sound from that folder, just delete it. If you want to give your own sound, just copy it to the folder that you chose. But i recommend your sound file type is ogg vorbis. You can download Audacity from (http://audacity.sourceforge.net) to helps you convert the sound file
5. (Important) If you choose ui folder and want to change the system sound, don't forget to change your new sound's name like the old one!
5. Done!
After that, if you have problem about ringtone loop, see my thread below

Can it be done without root?
I have a new GT i9100G which is not rooted and as of this time I do not wish to void the warranty. So, my question is, can this be done without rooting my device? If not, will using Odin to root the device (flashing a kernel) set the counter to 1, and if so, how do I reset it without a jig?
PS. I hope I am not posting this in the wrong place and apologize if I am.
wow thanks for this simple guide, been lookin for this

Still visible in the menu...
Thanks a lot for the guide bro!
I got another question. I removed all those annoying sounds I never used and never will, the way you showed, but when I open the alarm menu or ringtone menu, they are still visible.
How do I remove them from there too? I wiped cache and Dalvik cache, but they are still there although there are only 3 alarm sounds left, the list of sounds in the alarm menu is still the same...
A really simple thing to do.
I wonder why people fail at times..
Anyways, Good Guide. Will help lots of people.
thankx for it was got bore with that old sound

Never mind... Problem solved... In the beginning, even after deleting the sounds I didn't want, they were still visible in the menus. If I selected them they would be mute of course... Today, somehow they disappeared from the menus as welI don't know if out was due to my constant rom modding or what. It beats me...

Once you are done with removing/adding the ring tone, restart your phone. It will update the new list.

the way to update the ringtone list is just restart your phone, or you could edit the ROM zip file first, before you flash it in your phone.

Thanks for answering my post. Using SU-BB installer, I was able to get root without changing the counter (I hope) so now I can use your method to get rid of the sounds I never use and do not like.
I've added sounds to the notification folder earlier but the notification volume is much lower than what the original volume of those tones. Any way to fix it ?

Use Audacity: It's free, and open source!
If your GT-S5830 has only one speaker (mono), you can, if your audio is stereo, create a mono track which should help somewhat. Audacity>new>open your file> tracks> stereo to mono. You can also use audacity to boost the db of the of the audio signal (take care not to cause clipping). Audacity>effect>amplify.
Hope this helps.

persistent irritating original ringtone!
My friend, please help me out. I have a problem with my rooted Huawei mediapad s7-931u device. i dont know why whenever i use/ install hisuit driver, the ringtone of the device gets back to its original (irritating!) one. off course, the name of the ringtone in my device is the one I have chosen, but that does not ring and the original one is played. I have tried to not use hisuit but still when i install a new app or use Superuser app, the ringtone changes to its original one!!!

Please help me out! it's really going on my nerves now!
by the way, i forgot to make a ROM back up! oops. actually i tried but i couldnt. please tell me what to do.

Hi Developers,
maybe anyone have a Idea how can i solve my Bad Features on this Phone.
1) any chance to disable the bad loud Sound by enable the Device? It's bad to start Phone into Office and all others can here "hey we have a enabled HTC One X" :-S
2) any Chance to change the loudness from Ringtone & Message separately? Currently i can only modify both as one Step...Not so funny and helpfull....
3) the Screensaver have now a Ring (HTC-Standard). But i will use my secret Pattern to open and not both...Actially i have to play with the ring and after it my Pattern....BAD!
Thanks for Help about it.
Hi,
1) well first of all before you switch off your Hox make sure its silent or vibrate so that when you power it on next time no annoying boot sound will come out.
2)cant help with that try and find 3rd party apps from market im sure there will be one.
3) lockscreen and password are 2 different things... Meaning everyone can get past the lockscreen but only you can know the password.
Hope that helped
As for number 1. You could try Silent Boot from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...1bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5hbnR3ZWIuc2lsZW50Ym9vdCJd
Don't know if it works on the HOX it hasn't been updated for a long time, but you could give it a try.

Update to Step2): tried anything without success.
1) simply cover the speaker on the back side with your finger or palm
2) some custom roms have the option to adjust volumes separately, some don't. I think CM9/CM10 had that option, someone correct me if I'm wrong cause I'm on MIUI now.
3) MIUI doesn't have that problem, when you enter the pattern it unlocks directly.
You can install a custom rom. My HOX is on official MIUI 2.8.31 and far far best than anything else I've tried.
Found out to disable BootSound
Hi,
i solved Problem 1 yet. So simple...Base: Device must be rootet.
Then navigate to .\system\customize\resource\ and rename the htc_boot.mp3 (example save as htc_boot.mp3.bak). It works!
Same way with custom Bootanmations! Simply rename the originals and have fun!
And now Problem 2 also solved: i downloaded a "Silence.mp3" (http://www.jetcityorange.com/silent-ringtone/silence-10sec.mp3) and save it in .\system\media\notifications as a original file (e.g. overwrite an existing with same name). Then choose it as Notificationsound; it works! Great!
Hi there people!
I know about the root + txt file method with 4.1.x, but I've been wondering if the 4.2.2 update changed anything.
Anything as in some option that allows a voice recorder to work.
Even client side record would be great (two-way would be heaven).
Anyone been experimenting with this?
If it's absolutely non-doable... could you link me a ROM that is 100000000000000% stable/works and got voice recording?
I'm willing to root the phone as the warranty is over anyway. But the user is my father, and he is an 'old guy'. The rom should be 100% working/stable/etc, if I don't want him to have a heart attack because some 1337 h4xx0r thought messing up core apps is a good idea.
(^ The above is just an example, I respect the work of the fellow XDA hackers.)

Most of roms with good support will works just fine without any restart for weeks, but after some time (or after instaling some apps) something can go wrong.
I've got ProBAM v4.4.1 and call recording is working but it's not a good choice for "old guy"
Try sense 4+ roms like Viper or ARHD - they were good looking, easy to use, rock stable and call recording (2way but without bt) was working fine.

But regular bluetooth works right?
Thanks for the link, will check soon.
(Also, f.ck HTC. I mean, what the hell. Premium priced phones with subpar experience. My girlfriend's Note works like a CHARM with voice recording. It's the damn stock rom without anytihng, and it works both ways, clearly. I hate HTC. Never again.)
(I'll also have to make sure his data won't be lost. I had to return his phone. Backed contacts up with 2-3 apps. All failed and he lost 20+ people. :/)
Update:
@ Recording: Ah I saw that TXT weeks/months ago. But people been saying that the notification and other sounds were sped up and there been other problems with this workaround. I wonder how it works/why that happens. I thought there are mods where they fixed this somehow else. ( I saw mods which included this "fix". )

Yep, all hardware works but to make 2way sound recording you have to unlock, root your phone and apply "Sound_Phone_Original_REC.txt" patch.
Only recording calls using bt headset doesnt work:/

Unlocking my phone was one of first things I've done after buying it (because of blated operator software), so it wasn't a problem for me.
I agree that everything should work with stock firmware without unnecessary things to do.

Contacts, app list, wallpapers, photos, wifi pass list and many others are backing automatically using your google account.
Utils like Titanium Backup or Helium can also backup program data and settings.

I also has this *bug with speed up ringtones and voice recording files using PA3.6 rom.
Complete shutdown and powering up phone (not standard restart) fix it.
Fortunately recordings are working fine when playing them on PC/MAC, so it can be problem only with amr files (didn't try mp3 yet)

Could you enlighten me about this bug ? (thank you very much for your replies, they help, a lot.)
I mean, how are the sounds different? How do you notice?
The backup: The problem was due to the app my father uses and the different way to store contacts.
Basically, he thought a smart phone, is a smart phone.
He had a Nokia before, and used it to contain every detail about people. Like 3-5 numbers.
When he got the HTC, he started to input contacts by using the online interface.
It sucked. It messed up everything. Like the numbers got mixed up and such.
Finally, MyPhoneExplorer let him to create his contacts.
But then... he needed a Contacts app too. (The default sucks.)
So I went on the market, and GOD BLESS the creators of Contacts+. It IS what the default should look like.
The rooting: It's a business phone so to say, he works on it/with it all day. Well, he relies on it as he relied on the Nokia.
You know, like you would rely on your dog, the best buddy. And that's why I didn't want to risk it.
Warranty is the other problem. The phone already had a yellow tint, and a few weeks ago he dropped the phone and the corner of the protective glass got cracked. It's nothing, but it voids the warranty. (There is insurance on the phone, so I'll just return it when the company goes out of stock from the One X and ask for a One. Seriously, they ask for a high insurance price monthly, and they would give you an "obsolete" phone.)
SO YOU WERE SAYING... (the post got tl;dr, sorry)
Which rom you say I should install?
I rooted phones and such, but f... I almost bricked a friend's Milestone. (Lucky it had two recovery ways to fix things.)
So... yeah. Any "non-ricer", standard, rock-solid rom.
Thank you!
I already owe you a beer.

When playing recorded call on phone it plays 2 or 3 times faster, so you cannot understand a world.
The same thing is with ringtones (played much faster than it should be).
Files are working fine(normal speed) when played on other devices.

About rely on Android phone:
For more than a year I use HOX like a normal phone (calling, sms) about less than a week, and as a normal phone it's OK - battery lasts for 4-5 days (not close to Nokia: week or two
Almost everyday I'm using mp3, gps, mail, camera and it has drastically impact for battery life.
Phone lasts for max 2 days with 2-4h onscreen time.
So, except battery life you can relay on it

As I say before, try any sense4+ rom like Viper or ARHD (booth are great and you/your father should be pleased.
They're stable, easy and quick to use (lighting fast camera comparing to AOSP/CM), lot of custom options with as good or better battery life comparing to stock HTC rom.
Or wait a month and see what people will tell about sense5 roms.
I've got some issues with cpu freq lock to 1,5Ghz, 8h daining battery to shutdown wakelocks and call recorder doesn't want to work on MaximusHD 20/21 with sense5.

Okay, last two:
- How is that ringtone speed up? Is it annoying?
(He certainly won't reboot the phone all the time as there are times when he is receiving calles each minute for hours.)
- So I'll stick to the simple root method, and wait for Sense 5. (It looks neat. I mean, damn, it is slick.)
Which root method should I follow? The one in the recording thread post (you linked)?

It depends.
After beer or two or after a joint you don't care a lot;P
Seriously: just check by yourself.
Take any ringtone and play it with fast forward mode (most of media players has that feature) and imagine that you hear this when someone is calling.
I had this issue only once, just after applying patch. After complete shutdown and powering up it was fixed for me - phone worked about 2-3 weeks without restart or any kind of problems.

I will apply the fix on this weekend.
But damn, it already creeps the hell out of me.
- I will lose every data again. I don't even know how to backup anymore. I used apps, desktop apps, HTC"s tool, everything. Then I still lost some really important data.
- I have to provide the unique ID of the device. I fear. If I ever break it (got insurance on it), will they claim it as a jailbreak problem?... I mean, of course software and hardware got nothing to do with each other if the glass breaks on the display for example, but we are talking about big evil companies.
How comes Samsung phones works perfectly (like they can record OOTB), but HTC sucks this much?
And HTC can design a proper phone (One), while Samsung uses a plastic crap body (S4/Notes).
Life isn't fair I guess. (But functionality > design, so this was our last HTC. Ever.)
I'm trying to connect the two sounds because it's really annoying having the ringtone volume on the lowest level and having a message come in that's about as loud as it gets and its a hassle having to change both all the time. I used to use Quick settings but that doesn't seem to do the trick anymore so I was wondering how to go about it. Any hidden settings I haven't uncovered yet? Any good apps to recommend? Also how can I shut the camera shutter sound because that's also annoying...
On CM you can link them both together in the Volume adjustment panel from within Settings - Sound
but the CWM is a nightly so its not stable right? cuz I just came from SGS where I had Darkyy's ROM and don't really know what CWM is all about but from what I found in my brief search it said that nightlies are not the most stable ones
There are a lot of Profile Managers in the Play Store that should do the job. I use e. g. "Profiles" from Egg'n Stone and it works.

would that affect any of my other settins? meaning would I have to create profiles for everything I want and change them all the time or can I just change that one thing and carry on using the phone as before? cuz the last profiles I remember are on the old feature phones. never used one on a smartphone
Sorry, you are right. The Profile Managers I know and talked about support profiles for a lot of settings. They are not just linking the Sounds you mentioned. So my answer was not exactely related to your specific needs.
