[HOW-TO] Delete and Change Stock Ringtone/Notification/Alarm/UI

For those who want to delete annoying ringtone or alarm sounds from stock one, here is a simple solution to change it
You need : Root Explorer / Root Browser
1. Go to root.
2. Open system/media/audio
3. (See, there are 4 folders : alarm, notification, ringtone, and ui) Choose folder that you want.
4. If you don't like the sound from that folder, just delete it. If you want to give your own sound, just copy it to the folder that you chose. But i recommend your sound file type is ogg vorbis. You can download Audacity from (http://audacity.sourceforge.net) to helps you convert the sound file
5. (Important) If you choose ui folder and want to change the system sound, don't forget to change your new sound's name like the old one!
5. Done!

Can it be done without root?
I have a new GT i9100G which is not rooted and as of this time I do not wish to void the warranty. So, my question is, can this be done without rooting my device? If not, will using Odin to root the device (flashing a kernel) set the counter to 1, and if so, how do I reset it without a jig?
PS. I hope I am not posting this in the wrong place and apologize if I am.

I got another question. I removed all those annoying sounds I never used and never will, the way you showed, but when I open the alarm menu or ringtone menu, they are still visible.
How do I remove them from there too? I wiped cache and Dalvik cache, but they are still there although there are only 3 alarm sounds left, the list of sounds in the alarm menu is still the same...

A really simple thing to do.
I wonder why people fail at times..

Never mind... Problem solved... In the beginning, even after deleting the sounds I didn't want, they were still visible in the menus. If I selected them they would be mute of course... Today, somehow they disappeared from the menus as welI don't know if out was due to my constant rom modding or what. It beats me...

Once you are done with removing/adding the ring tone, restart your phone. It will update the new list.

the way to update the ringtone list is just restart your phone, or you could edit the ROM zip file first, before you flash it in your phone.

Thanks for answering my post. Using SU-BB installer, I was able to get root without changing the counter (I hope) so now I can use your method to get rid of the sounds I never use and do not like.

I've added sounds to the notification folder earlier but the notification volume is much lower than what the original volume of those tones. Any way to fix it ?

Use Audacity: It's free, and open source!
If your GT-S5830 has only one speaker (mono), you can, if your audio is stereo, create a mono track which should help somewhat. Audacity>new>open your file> tracks> stereo to mono. You can also use audacity to boost the db of the of the audio signal (take care not to cause clipping). Audacity>effect>amplify.

persistent irritating original ringtone!
My friend, please help me out. I have a problem with my rooted Huawei mediapad s7-931u device. i dont know why whenever i use/ install hisuit driver, the ringtone of the device gets back to its original (irritating!) one. off course, the name of the ringtone in my device is the one I have chosen, but that does not ring and the original one is played. I have tried to not use hisuit but still when i install a new app or use Superuser app, the ringtone changes to its original one!!!
you know what's funny! i looked all four audio folders to find that ... sound but it wasnt in any of them to be DELETED or what.
Please help me out! it's really going on my nerves now!
by the way, i forgot to make a ROM back up! oops. actually i tried but i couldnt. please tell me what to do.

[Q] Lock screen is full screen

Hello All
Earlier today I noticed that somehow when my phone wakes up my lock screen is full screen, in other words the notification bar is gone. It is like it in auto hide, as it there normally once the phone unlocks. You can see come down as the phone unlocks. The thing is, I never changed it and the phone seems to have no obvious way of changing it in the options so I do not know how to change it back. without I cannot see notifications unless I now use the swipe screen lock as well, which I really don't want to. Any ideas please?

Many thanks for your reply. Sorry I should have given more info. earlier. Yes it is rooted (with TWBR 2.4.4.0) and running a Phoenix V8 custom ROM but in many ways it very like a stock ROM, albeit with a few extra bits and pieces and differences. It was fine for the last few days. I think, although I cannot be certain, but I temporarily put widget locker on it and I think it happened then but I cannot be conclusive about that. I did re-install Widget locker again just to see, if perhaps there was an option in there but could not see one, not that I would ever have chosen it. I have now removed it again. If all else fails I will wait for a newer version of the ROM and if a simple upgrade doesn't fix it I will rebuild the new ROM (it uses Aroma installer) from scratch, along side a complete wipe, if necessary, but I really don't want to do that now for such a minor problem. I suspect it is just an option that I need to find out how to change but so far no joy. Is it possible to just re-flash the default Samsung notifications bar or at a push re-install from an APK file?

Many thanks for your reply. I have just discovered it is definitely in auto-hide on the lock screen as when I go put my pattern in, if I touch near the top of the screen it actually comes down and then goes back again when I let go. Would a factory reset not, pretty much, be like a full wipe, as it just set it back to like it was when it left the factory? Although I do have the standard Samsung option of backup and restore on the same options page. I was wondering whether to do a full backup in TWRP and then try that option. It just seems overkill for what must be an option that can somehow be set. I was just hoping someone could enlighten me first.

Hi guys! Again here's another mod from me. This mod should fix the lockscreen issue when any apps requiring accessibility is enabled.
Just push the apk in

May I ask what were the issues with the apps using open accessibility? I use Knock2+
and if I need the fix, which out of the two attachment do I need? Do I need to flash both of them? or just the second one as the file name suggested its purposes?

Just come across this thread from a post on the trickdroid forums...
This is great....just installed the zip on my HTC One and its seems to be working perfect at the moment....if theres any issues I'll post up after a days use...

For instance, I have a pebble watch that requires the pebble app. The pebble app requires that you start the service for pebble in the accessibility settings. So an option at the top under services you have to turn on. As soon as you turn on one of the services there - as far as I know any service not just pebble - it will make the lockscreen broken. So from that point on just touching the lockscreen anywhere will unlock the device. You don't have to swipe up the lock or clock anymore. And you can't pull any of the app icons up to load into those. It just unlocks the device as soon as you touch the screen. The big problem with this is if the phone is ringing in your pocket. As you pull it out of your pocket and it rubs against your leg/pants, it will unlock/answer the call. Now occasionally I don't want to answer the phone. Its been a big problem.

I flashed the zip in the download link and now my phone won't go past the "starting apps" screen after boot and before lockscreen shows.
I even reflashed the rom (dirty) and it won't work. Can you make a flashable file which puts the original files back so I can adb push it on my One.
I am on Trickdroid 5.5.1. by the way.
Please Help.

I can't reproduce your problem so please try wiping dalvik cache or deleting the folder /data/data/com.htc.idlescreen.base/
And if it still persists try doing a factory reset instead.
Doing a dirty install of the Trickdroid ROM should have restored the original lockscreen app so I'm pretty sure it's something to do with your dalvik-cache.
Just try wiping dalvik-cache for now it shouldn't delete anything so it's safe.

So I guess the fix can only be used if you're rooted and that sucks cause I am not

Yes no other way at all sorry Better issue this bug to HTC then and wait for an update with a fix.

Is there a specific place to report these bugs? I mentioned this issue to them on the technical support form, but I'm not sure if it's the right place.

I was wondering if this mod would negate the option to disable exchange server security? I've flashed trickdroid and applied this mod, but now my exchange server is requiring a password/pin on unlock. I'd like to be able to disable this when I'm home in tasker and I have that setup, but now it doesn't work. I think it was this mod that removed that feature from TrickDroid. Do you know the answer?

@Riyal since installing this fix I have a problem with the proximity sensor while on a call. Sometimes the screen goes black as soon as the call connects and the screen doesn't come back on. Sometimes the screen doesn't turn off when I hold the phone to my face and sometimes it does turn off but won't turn on again.
Is this problem related to this fix? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Hi! I'm not sure about the exchange server mod as I am not using it. I'll take a look at the mod soon and see what was modified on it and see if it conflicts with my mod.
And by the way could you give me a tutorial/guide on how and where to get an exchange account to test? Pardon but I don't really use that feature at all.
Anyways I am using exchange activesync on my phone right now but only using live.com account. And I'm not sure if having a private exchange server is needed.

Hi! Proximity sensor works perfectly well with my mod here. I have already called a number of times with the mod installed and I am also using tasker and I can't reproduce the problem

max 3 push notification problems with alot of users-any help

dear all
i have noticed a lot of customers having problem with max 3 push notification with no actions.
i know here in Egypt 5 bought it and have same and nearly everyday you can find more max3 used for sell after only few weeks of buying.
if anyone can assist in solving or to contact ..
i have tried everything available online
installing global beta and stable
disabling battery optimize
allow all permissions to apk like whatsapp/viber /mymail
Auto start
lock apks
nothing worked
if any can help.

Did you enable notifications and badges? You can set the priority there. Just click on the app settings and select notifications. I have no issues.

yes i did all of that still sometimes i get sound and sometimes not..
i checked every single item and enabled anything related to notifications
even network signal is full and whenever i try to call or i get call it gives out of coverage
i m sure its software bug ...
i even changed region to so many but nothing
i wiped data after each install of rom
the only doubt i have is
in app settings in installed app
there is system notifications
no sound
and i press it i found all notifications are on

That's the problem with Chinese ROMs
I have a global version and np problems whatsoever.
Had the same problem with the Huawei honor note 8 Chinese.
Partial fix was to add widgets for all the apps that you can on the home page, or open each one up and keep them running in the background without closing them.

Thanks ..that already what i m doing now so i get the notification sometimes by sound or only by wake up the screen.
if i cancel wake up screen for notification.. i cant know unless when i unlock the screen...
that is only in whatsapp viber and email apk ( tried three )...
hope an update fixes this...

I would just install Xiaomi.eu rom. No one I know on xiaomi.eu roms are having your sound problems.

Is your bootloader unlocked? You will need to unlock it since it's a custom rom.

From time to time, I receive a whatsapp message which wakes up the screen, but without any sound (very strange).
I'm quite unhappy with the notifications system

Yes thats what i have notifications come with no sound and only wake up screen light then second one with sound but i installed the global beta and its better than global stable so far with last update.

Basically what I had to do was manually turn on all notification sounds and pop ups. Some apps simply cannot be turned on like Google messages.

Call Screen Feature in Phone App

Many may like this new feature but I do not. It is too easy to hit the Sceen button by mistake when pulling phone out of pocket for example, subjecting your caller to the message and creating confusion.
Unfortunately, Google feels we should all have this with no choice and has provided no proper way of disabling it. (smells like IOS)
Changing phone language to UK English worked until new Phone app update today.
Reverting to original Phone app also works but then no dark mode and loss of other new features.
I have thought of going to a custom ROM but then wondered if that is even a solution as this is in the Phone.apk that I would be updating from Play Store anyway.
Can anyone please let me know if this is the case with custom ROMs - do you have Call Screen or not?
Any other way to disable this?
