Hello,
Got the WP7 yesterday. Great but where can I find the proxy settings on 3G/hdspa? We use this to go to the internet. I can find it in the WIFI section but not in the phone section.
Best Regards,
Toolman
it doesn't have proxy for 3G. I don't think any phone has 3G proxy does it?
Thanks for the fast reply.
Our windows mobile 6.5 phones all have proxy. So it looks like we are stuck on the 6.5
Toolman
why do you need it? My internet works without setting anything.
We have a coorporate phone which is directly connected to our network through an APN. From there it goes to the internet through a proxyserver.

I am using vp3gs 3.61 rom with windows live messenger version 10.6.0031.2600. no matter what I do it won't connect on my WPA-PSK enabled router. I can connect fine to the internet.
Any special setup I need to do to get it to work?
Thanks for any help.
EDIT
Could someone on ATT disable the phone and use WIFI only and see if you can connect to LIVE?
I am using 10.6.0031.1600(older than yours) but I am able to connect to live services using the wifi with WPA-PSK.
I am using my own cooked rom.
Search in all the forums I remember some people had the simillar issues and had some 'workarounds'
Sorry I do not really remember.
I too also had a problem with .2600, reverted to .1600 and all is good over wifi. By the way, I'm using WPA TKIP on my wifi.
Tried that one too and still get the "there was a problem signing you in to messenger" error after checking internet connectivity.
try these ideas.
1 ensure your wifi settings are to internet and not work
2 ensure you dnt have the ip address set up in exceptions (these ips are only for intranet)
3 turn off your phone entirely. soft reset your phone. check that wifi is still internet and not work.
4 turn on wifi only. check that u have normal internet access. emails and hotmail etc work ok. then open messenger and sign in.
5 if you have to, use wlm switch user command and relogin.
this should work. once u have run and got it working, you can turn your phone back on and it should continue to use wifi and not 3g

Still times out on checking internet connection.
I get email and internet fine. but no WLM.
I am using ATT. What should there be under Connections?
I have tried 2 My ISP and Media.net on My ISP it times out automatically, on Media.net it takes a while to time out.
Also did a hard reset to make sure that it wasnt anything I had installed. With the stock rom I still get the time out.
the proxy server u r using will b blocking that port.
I use telstra in australia, internet and push email works with proxy on, but wlm doesnt.
so i just turn off proxy and everything works except some of the telstra stuff which i dont want anyway.
proxy tends to give a garden firewall of their preferred content.
dunno how to deal with att, but suggest one of your connections should allow you to bypass the proxy styled firewall garden of att.
soz i dont have it to help u further, except to point u towards the proxy manager.
just to reiterate and emphasis the telstra proxy manager controls over rides and screws up 3g/next G connections AND my wifi.
only by turning this proxy manager off can i use wifi and 3g fully.
Thanks, there is a cab that disables the proxy on the att phone, so I disabled it, but that didnt help either.
Wlm 10.6.0031.2600
Hi, does anyone have the cab or installer for the latest WLM 10.6.0031.2600? Can someone post it or make it available for download? Thanks a million
Is anyone who has ATT able to use Windows Live Messenger?
Okay since WLM obviously doesnt work over wifi. How do you guys setup your outlook to get Hotmail?

Absolutely. I use it all the time. Mostly through 3G but sometimes through my home wireless network. Never had a problem.
Memnoch30, what version of WLM you using and do you have it set any special way in connections to use WIFI?
Well it seems I am not the only one having this problem, I got an interesting PM stating another person has the same problem as I do. If someone else could do me a favor, turn off the phone in comm manager, but keep wifi on. Can you still connect to Live???
Anyone? Thanks in advance
Hi
Just try to keep the Red button pressed ~3s (it will cancel the GPRS connection) then Messenger will use the wifi one (i do like that since i use pocket msn).

Doesn't work for me, all that does is close out Live messenger.
anything else I need to try?
It doesnt work even if I turn off GPRS and leave wifi only.
I mainly use 3g to browse the internet with opera, but if i connect to my wireless network and open opera it continues to use 3g. Is their any way i can make it use wireless? I thought it should automatically but it doesn't.
Thanks for any help.
be connected just to wifi
Is that the only way? I use push email that uses 3g and would sooner not disconnect that when i want to use opera over wifi.
I've just checked Internet explorer and that's fine using wifi, but opera still refuses to use it and sticks with 3g. Does anyone elses Touch HD do this?
I'll have a look at mine in a minute, but need to ask a daft question, how can i tell which data source the HD is using for its internet information at any one time?

You can go onto google and search for 'whats my ip' and use one of them sites to see if its your ip address or one used by your operator. Thanks very much.
Sorry, that took a bit longer than a minute.
Opera is using wifi here. However, when I first boot up my phone in my house (i.e. in wifi range) data connection is turned off and wifi is turned on by default. However, even if i switch on the data connection and fire up opera, it still uses wifi rather that 02 mobileweb.
I may talk a wlk down the street later and i'll see if the data connection will come on at bootup if a wifi isn't available
Have you tried going to settings->connections tab->connections->advanced tab->select networks and changing the default connection to "My Isp" or "My work network".
This may help although I have had very similar problems with opera using 3g instead of wifi. I reported the problem HTC and after an absolute age they wrote back saying "That shouldn't happen" without any real advice on what to do next. Since then I have always turned 3g off when turning wifi on. I used to use push email but of course turning off 3g buggers that up so I have settled for syncing every 15 minutes and as a side benefit that seems to have improved battery life.

I've tried what you have suggested and opera did use the wifi, however when i turn wifi off it won't use 3g until i go back into those settings and set it to do so.
I've noticed that if i turn my phone on and don't use the 3g connection opera will use wifi fine, but once i turn wifi off or go out of range and use 3g then return to wifi opera refuses to use it and sticks with 3g. I just don't understand why it's fine using wifi so long as it hasn't used 3g.
Hey i was looking around but i couldnt find anything.
I want to get the touchpro2 for t-mobile when it comes out.
But is there a way to tether it? its kinda a deal breaker for me! lol (also 3g)
thanks
Internet Thetering
Hi,
I'm not sure I understand you question...but if you ask if it's possible to do internet thetering, then the answer is yes!
All the last HTC come ready for internet thetering...
1) Plug one USB in your PC the mini USB in the phone
2) choose internet sharing
3) enjoy surfing @ 3.5 G
Hope it helps you
BTW TP2 is a killer machine, 10'000x better than the TP1
if by tethering you mean when the text messages appear like a chat, then yes it does that by default
Yes, I have tried it. Browsing on my laptop with the TP2 on the 3g network. Works flawlessly

Hmm, that is not tethering. You are talking about threaded messaging, the O.P is talking about using his TP2 as a modem to get on the internet from a computer.
I hope your reply was deliberately funny on purpose...
Should be no problem...My concern is if AT&T or other US carries will put in software blocks to keep its customers from using the tethering feature without paying for it on top of the normal data service fee. I think they will, but I'm sure its nothing a new custom rom will not cure.
I use Internet Sharing with Tmobile USA all the time, and it works fine with my unlimited data plan.

You didn't say how you are connected. What device you're using, carrier or any other useful info.
I changed the apn settings on my desire and now I am having problem connecting to the internet using either 3G or hSPDA. before changing the settings I was able to connect to the internet using 3G but now when I have try to go online and the 3G icon is displayed the phone does not do anything and if it will evetually connect to the internet it will only do via the H (HSPDA)... I have reset the apn to default and its all the same, no improvement, I have input the mms settings again with no effect.... no its getting on my nerves now... am thinking of reseting the phone back to factory settings.....
I suggest you get new settings from here: http://support.t-mobile.co.uk/help-and-support/index?page=home&cat=SOFTWAREDOWNLOADS

So far i believed that hd2 and touch 2 phones are wm not android :? ??? strange...
are there any options for different android phones? hero, magic, etc... as they should work with desire
just go to the APN settings and press Menu>return to defaults. The settings are preprogrammed in for t-mobile UK, and they are definitely correct.
As for not being able to connect on 3G, that is a known t-mobile issue. When 3G is showing, it is supposed to change up to H when you try and send/receive data. sometimes, their network does not change up successfully, and you end up sitting on 3G with no data transfer.
turn mobile data off and back on again and that usually fixes it. There's three or four threads on that on the T-mobile website.
Now this is interesting ...
After I read your reply below, I think that issue is NOT only in the UK.
Because I use T-Mobile NL and I got exactly the same problem!!!
I am still using my HTC Kaiser though and I was (still) confused why I "suddenly" could not connect to the internet
I use Opera Mini, at first it was connected fine, browsed several websites and then suddenly dead on ... cannot connect.
Restart Opera Mini, same issue ... the connection still there.
Restart the data connection ... there you go, I was able to browse again.
Damn! I did not know that this is T-Mob issue I tried to clean my WM device, reinstall Opera and whatnot ....
Oh yeah, this issue just happened recently ... like a month or two months.
Before that, I have no problem like this.

I have a strange problem with my Galaxy Nexus. When I connect to the internet using the mobile network, the connection is extremely slow. (And by slow I mean around 2-3 minutes to fully load the google mobile search page). I tried the "Speed Test" app to test the network speed, but it simply fails after a while mentioning "Network communication issues" (maybe it times out?).
The weird thing is that other devices can access the internet fine when connected to the internet through the Nexus by enabling its WiFi hotspot feature. So the other devices can use the Nexus's internet connection with acceptable speeds while the Nexus itself can't. Anybody got any ideas as to why this happens? One thing I could think of was that the DNS given to the Nexus by the mobile network being slow (whereas the other devices connected to it use the DNS in their WiFi settings). I tried to verify this by using the "DNS Changer" app, but it didn't solve the problem, although I'm not sure that it actually changed the DNS used by the Nexus.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Bump for a solution for this man!

Problem solved!
Finally found the culprit! It wasn't DNS after all. My carrier's data settings include an IP and port for a proxy. When I configured the APN on the phone, I entered them simply because they were there. Turns out that keeping them empty solves the speed issues on the phone. So the bottleneck was the carrier's proxy server. I guess tethered clients don't use the proxy setting on the phone and therefore didn't experience the speed issue.
Inspiration fixed wifi hotspot not connecting to internet
I wanted to thank you because your solution helped me fix my problem. I couldn't connect my native wifi hotspot on my GSM Galaxy Nexus to my Nexus 7. The wifi indicator would come on to my N7 but it stayed gray (i.e. wasn't connected to the internet). Turns out that last month I set up an APN to connect to T-Mobile via IPv6. Well, apparently, this creates a problem with using the wifi hotspot. I switched back to regular T-Mo connection and...if works! My GNex/N7 combo is fully functional. Thanks again for the inspiration!
