My PRL is 60668. When I click update PRL or update Profile, it says "Checking for PRL/Profile update", then says "PRL/Profile could not be updated. Please try again later. If the problem persists, you may need to contact Customer Service. Error code:1012". This happened to me a couple of ROMs ago, any suggestions as to what this is about?

OMG I am having the same problems today. I leep getting the exact same response when I try to do my profile update. I spent 4 hours on the phone with Sprint today. They had me do a hard reset and now my phone is useless. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE someone help us!

Through research all I can see is the hard reset route, and CDMA workshop. It just seems like no one cares honestly
I've done at least 5 hard resets today and nothing. It just keeps saying "searching for network" I really didn't want to waste my entire day doing this. ugh. I know it must be somewhere in the settings, but Sprint peeps don't seem to have a clue either.

No it's not somewhere in the settings, that's the problem. You went to settings, system upgrade, then update prl and got the same error as me right?
If you have another phone, go online and switch over to it, then switch back, and it will be fixed. That or sprint themselves have some other option. The only way to fix it yourself is pretty complicated
We did all of that. The Sprint rep switched phones and everything and still nothing. It's just not finding the network. LAME!!!

Oh wow that sucks IDK, I'd call em back and complain, demand free service
UPDATE!!!! I thought wth I'll give Sprint another call and see if I can get a different advanced tech that might have some more ideas and get me back up and running. Well after about 2 minutes she asks for my ESN number to validate and well......IT WAS INCORRECT! She updated it to the correct one and voile it works now! My suggestion is to call them and verify that they have the correct ESN. Good luck.
There have been issues with CDMA activation/provisioning all day today. This would include data profile issues and possible PRL updates as well. Try again this weekend.

I will, thanks for the update, and glad your problem was fixed. This seems like a possible problem, considering all of the trouble I had switching the lines over, along with selling my old phone, activating old phone, then dummy phone, then evo, then switched evo.. I'll look into it.

Ha bro this issue has been happening for a long time, check the dates
I'm having this same problem. Just did my first root and installed Fresh Evo 3.1.0.1, with the recommended newest radio/wimax. Everything but the phone works great. I can still dial and receive calls at my normal number, showing good reception, but there is tons of hiss and my voice almost never makes it to the other phone.
Tried to Update Profile and Update PRL, and both gave me Error 1012. Sprint's website is down right now (4 AM Sunday morning), so maybe the network is simply not currently serving updates.
However, if it's something that can be fixed, I'd be grateful if anyone has an idea.
I could be wrong but if i recall error 1012 is a Sprint data/vision username/password error and is correctable with a call to tier 2 tech support.
I cant remember for certain tho, But I believe thats what that is, I know i've seen it quite a few times before.
Im now having this issue. What has been the cause for most of you? If you found out.
Sent From My HTC Evo 4G Using Tapa Talk Pro!
I purchased an EVO for my girlfriend. Did the unrevoked root to it only. No custom ROM or kernel. Used sdx app remover to clear off the junk. Installed wireless tether for her. That's it.
In the last 3 to 5 days, anyone who calls her it rings between 2-4 times an goes to voicemail. She gets no missed call. We've rebooted. Verified 4g is off. Tethering is killed.
However, in the past week or so she has been using wireless tethering more often while applying for jobs. She has also installed the voicemail update on her phone.
Does anyone have any issues similiar or any advice? I know there are setting in my epic dialer codes to check the setting to send calls to VM if data is active. I have no idea if EVO has this or not. Could it be extended use of the wifi tether? I imagine a lot of users use the tether app often and for much more time, she has been using it about 2-3 hours a night about 4 nights a week. The voicemail upgrade is where I'm thinking our issue is. I've talked her through the settings but cant see anything that is related.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
My unrooted evo does the none to 2 rings and goto voicemail. Its ticking my wife off when she calls me. I don't know exactly what's causing this, my thoughts tell me something with 4g devices in general. Network wise.
You can check from the home screen, menu, settings, call, then scroll down to DDTM mode, if it is checked uncheck it and see what happens.
We tried both checked and unchecked. reboots between changes. still same problem. we removed wifi tether as well. so the only change would be the voicemail update.
verified 4g was off. she doesnt have any auto sync enabled and usually background sync is off but we've tried with that on and off.
thank you for the tip though. very weird behavior. the evo has been rock solid since we got it.
That is pretty crazy, there is a setting in there somewhere to select your voicemail service. I'm in airplane mode on wifi right now so I can't locate it. Search through all the settings from menu/settings its in there somewhere. Maybe you can deselect sprint vvm.

ive had this a few times as well. try to update your profile.
Well. We did profile update. Nothing. Chkd voicemail provider and swapped both options. No luck. She ran across a setting in my contact info that was set to send to voicemail. It was on! She said its not like she could have done this in her purse or something. When u select/deselect the option u get prompted to confirm. Anyway she changed it and voila I get thru. HA! Figures i was going to ask this but figured it was to simple of a solution! Glad you got it working!
Has anyone received a message from sprint asking if your having any problems streaming? I got it this morning and there was a phone number on it but didn't write it down and it hasn't reappeared. It didn't come as a text or email. Some kind of urgent message or something like that.

Didn't get it either. Did it just pop up on your screen? Did your phone vibrate, ring?
Sorry forgot to mention was it on Sprint News thing?
Just showed up, it was on my home screen when I got up this morning. I've never seen a message come through my phone like that before.
Thats strange I have no Idea. Never got it never seen it. I'll get text from sprint sometimes. But thats about it.
I never got anything either, though as most of us i run a custom rom so im not sure if that is something that got disabled if it was not standard text...
You know the first time you turn on your phone (Running stock) and there's a message on the screen. Was it like that?
I got a message letting me know that I can add tethering to my account for $30 but nothing about streaming. I found it kind of odd since I never really use tethering, although I do stream a lot of stuff.

I've recently been having issues when calling certain numbers that my phone either starts ringing a few times then I get a busy signal or sometimes just a busy signl right away.
I know I'm not blocked from these numbers because one of the numbers is my gf and the other one of my close friends.
Now both my gf and friend have Sprint as well as myself. However, I can use my gf's phone to calll my number and she doesn't get a busy signal. And, if I call her phone from say a Verizon phone it rings normally.
This started happening very recently right before I upgraded to JB. I'm stock rooted.
Any ideas? I am thinking of calling Sprint to see if something is going on on there end.

Have you made any progress on this?
I have an EVO 4G LTE,, my wife has an EVO 3D - both stock and unrooted.
I can call anybody but her - I get a busy signal. -= maybe for the last 4 days, (Hurricane Sandy related?)
Anyone else can call her without a problem
I can call anyone else without a problem.
I can text her just fine.
On her phone, I blocked my number from calling her - when I did that, I went straight to her voicemail. When I unblocked it, back to the busy signal.
I deleted my contact from her phone and Google account - no change
I spent 20 min on phone with Sprint Tech support- we restarted both phones, reset voice services on both phones, pulled her battery - none of this did anything.
The rep told me to either hard reset her phone, or to go to a store with both phones.
So, I hard reset her phone. I logged into her google account and did nothing else.
I called her from my home phone - call went through. I called her from my EVO - call went through!!!
So, feeling cocky, I saved my number to her phone as a new contact. I called her again - BUSY SIGNAL.
I deleted myself from her contacts again - no change
I have hard reset her phone twice more tonight - both times I just got the busy signal.
Anybody else have any thoughts?

Im having the same issues when I call my wife's phone. I have Google Voice. Is that the problem?
Yes, had the exact same issue on my sgs2. Thought it was sprint, but after disabling Google voice the issue was resolved. I added it back about a month later with no issues.

Had this problem as well. Originally had evolte, sprint kept telling me it was network related. After two weeks I finally went to a corporate store and they ported my number to a different phone and called the numbers that where getting busy signals, and it worked. So they said it was my phone not the network. Sprint wanted to give me another evo, this would be my fourth evo, I decli ed and said I wanted a different phone, after much arguing sprint agreed to let me switch to the gs3. Came back two days later to pick up phone, after activating the phone I called the same numbers and STILL COULD NOT CALL THEM. Wtf. So they blamed google voice and said to try deleting it, if that did not work then call cust. Service. Deleting google voice did not work. So I called cust. Service they said after explaning what was going on cust.u Service said this was a known issue and did not know what was causing it and had no estimate when it would be fixed. She asked for the numbers that I got busy signals on and then offered a fourty dollar credit a month for four months. Wierd. Today I could call one of the numbers and it went thru. Havent checked the rest yet.

It is not google voice. Sprints network is the problem. They are aware of this. If you have problems call them and give them the numbers you cant call. My problem seemed to be fixed on sunday.

Sorry for the delayed response. I didn't see much going on with this thread for a while so I thought I was just having a isolated issue.
Turns out the issue is a common Google Voice issue atleast if you have integrated your Sprint and Google Voice number into one.
I got rid of my Google Voice integration and am now back to the "lite" version where you have your regular Sprint number and a separate Google Voice number and the problem has totally stopped.
The reason I say it's a common issue is because people are posting about this in the official Google Voice support forums.
I wish I would have checked there first because it would have saved me a lot aggravation.
Anyway, try un-integrating Google Voice and see if that helps.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Using Google light and separating the numbers did not work for me I even uninstalled Google Voice completely and it did not work it may be true that Google Voice is having issues as well but the current issue is a network issue at least it was for me as a previous poster said mine started working on Sunday at least I got a Samsung Galaxy 3 and a 40 dollar credit a month for 4 months out of the deal

I have no idea what the deal is with this phone right now and its destroying my battery life. I have done everything I know to do with no avail. My phone is CONSTANTLY searching for GPS satellites. If I disable my location settings, they automatically turn back on and resume searching for satellites. Has anyone had this happen? I've done everything but a factory reset.

Damn.... noticed earlier today it was doing that and looked for anything that could have turned it on. Never thought about the phone app. I ended up restarting my phone. Just dialed a number as a test and sure enough... the gps icon popped up. At least this time it quit on its own...
But why would the gps turn on when I make a phone call?
I seem to remember an updated privacy notification coming in the mail from AT&T a week or so ago. In it i believe there was mention of sharing "anonymous call location data." I think maybe I'll dig up that piece of mail and follow the instructions to "opt out."
Think I'm gonna test this by making a call from one of my kid's lines.

Good to know i'm not the only one. Its a shame because it wasn't doing it last week and now since I work in a metal building with already poor reception, its just shredding my battery life.
I feel sure that I have all apps that request location turned off. This is unrelated to my dialer app, as I only make one or two phone calls in a day.
Root and factory data reset seems to have resolved this for now. Still trying to figure out a cause.

Mine does it when I make or receive a call. If it can't get a gps lock then it keeps re-trying.
I think at&t pushed something to the phone that started it doing this and I need it to stop.

Was there any sort of update anyone is aware of? Maybe a system app was updated and caused this problem like this shows

So I realized that I recently turned OFF the wifi & mobile networks option inside of the Location settings a few days ago. I turned that back on and it does NOT do it any longer.
I also got on a chat with at&t tech support. He states they didnt have any other reports of this issue and nothing released recently should do this. He also mentioned that E911 uses the gps for location when you call 911. (I knew this.)
In any event, I asked him to open a case with engineering because I don't want it to kill my battery if I make or take a call while in a bldg.
Anyone seeing this should contact customer support to file a "complaint" so it is logged and gets attention.
Anyone seen this on another phone that may be in use in their house?

Thanks for the tip.
This just hit me mid week too, I'm trying the above solution.
One piece exists!
Carrieriq people! I don't know much about these phones, but have been learning slowly. I have the same issue, however I discovered carrieriq wake lock last week, and it makes me want to change to Verizon. Now I'm not sure, but I have that wake lock while the GPS is tweaking out. So I'm guessing that's what it is. I had to register just to post this, and I wish there was a way to get rid of it. I live in a Grey area, and prefer not to have all my calls and texts stored in a server for 60 days or whatever they claim to store the Information.

Damn carrierIQ... you are absolutely right. Installed one of those checker apps and its on there. (One of the downsides to not having a custom ROM.) But to have it really fire up like this, they must have flipped the switch on gathering "anonymous call location data" as was mentioned in a recent update to the privacy policy.
Installed Logging TestApp from an xda member ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17612559&postcount=110) and then the $1 key from the app store. Went thru the removal process and it no longer kicks on when I make a call.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only person experiencing this. Makes me feel better about the situation. Carrieriq has apparently been around for quote some time, however I hadn't heard of it because I was on am extended vacation. When I found out about it last week or whenever it was I did a lot of research on it. But a couple days ago when my GPS kept turning on out of nowhere while I had it off I got paranoid, and was scared they had me under investigation or something. If anyone else tries reggae Smith suggestion and is able to get rid of carrieriq. On this phone please post and let us know. I'm sure most of us out there don't want AT&T saving our texts and call history. Your browser history, and all that. Its a key logger that saves EVERYTHING that you do on your phone. At least that's my grasp on it. I'm wondering if getting rid of it the way reggie did even really delete it though. Is it possible to even get rid of it without flashing a custom room? Just because we may be able to get some peace of mind by not seeing the wake lock, is it really gone? I have only had Android for about 3 months, and managed to work from a atrix 2, to having 2 s3, one with severe wake lock issues. Drain my whole zero lemon battery overnight, to this ogp, which I dig. So this phone works great and one day carrier iq for 13 hours one day, so my friend Google gave me some insight, and bam, here we are. I have so many questions, but the capcha or whatever from my phone is irritating, so I will refrain from asking so many questions in different threads, that people will think I'm spamming. In the words of the great William currington "God is great, beer is good, and *****es are crazy!"
Anybody found any solution for this? There were some Google app updates hangout search may be forcing

I can confirm that this 1 dollar app has fixed the problem on my phone as well. E980.
Before trying that i tried to manually remove it, i was able to find two library files @ "/system/lib/" 1 - libiq_client.so && 2 - libiq_service.so
However I was unable to find the associated binary. I found a service lost the name. I installed cwm recovery, and then attempted to remove the library's at the risk of bricking, to invoke a app crash log and figure out where this :crying: binary was located. I added .bak to the end of the library names, and rebooted. I was greeted with a nice message "The android system has stopped working.", when I got to the homescreen, and then again when I attempted to make a call. But the phone worked fine and gps did not kick attempt to search. So I went and integrated the kernel logs and it showed android.iqd as the module that crashed, and an associated service. I couldn't find a full path to the binary and I don't know much about the android kernel yet, I'm only on my 2nd day being rooted on my 1st android device. If anyone could help me investigate this and figure out where the binary is located, and upload it I would be a very happy camper.
TLDR - After using Logging Test app and running remove IQ, i can rename or remove the library files with no issues! But I would still like to know more about the files/services associated.
Double post. Today my phone CIQ re-enabled itself, and started throwing the app crash message again "Android System Has Stopped Working.", because I have my CIQ library files re-named. Also note that it seems that I cannot RECEIVE text messages with these CIQ library files re-named. So DO NOT rename them.
Here is a link to the system_app_crash generated by renaming the library files.
