Hi,
The developer of our main software application at work wrote a smaller app of this program for WM prof devices. When I need to use the program outside the office, I download what I need to my phone using activesynch. I need to upgrade my phone and my CAN operator does not carry WM6.x Pro devices anymore. Is there a way to install and regularly synch this application on a WM7 phone?
No .
Please review the software development section

You have downloaded it from the Microsoft website?
Well, yea I did. But now it sounds that there is no official 6.1 update for some phones. I don't know, im new to this stuff.
Mh, there is no choice for a download from microsoft. Are you sure you download an update to Windows Mobile 6.1 and NOT to Windows OFFICE Mobile 6.1?
Like here: Microsoft Office Mobile 6.1: Upgrade
Later there will be an update also for the HTC touch but not now...
Hey, what you've downloaded is a smartphone edition. Your HTC Touch requires a Touch-screen version, which is known as the 'Professional' edition eg. WM 6.1 Professional. You should go to the 'Elf' section in this forum instead of this. This section is for users who do not possess a HTC-built Windows Mobile devices.

and if your touch has 128mb ram, its called an elfin, and if it has 64, its called an elf. its very important u dont get them mixed up.
the amount of ram you have can be found by going to settings, then the system tab then device information
Hope ive helped
and remember to use the search button in the top left.

hi everyone
i want to programming c++ at HD2
I found in market a programm "esql" and it is for DB it very nice
but I need one for c++
can I find any program for this ??
no one can help me??!!
up
Your best bet:
Visual Studio 2008
Windows Mobile Professional SDK
ActiveSync / Windows Mobile Device Center.
Free alternative is Embedded Visual C++,but IMHO it needs much more experiences with object programming, but if you understand the principle,it is also good to develop something. Actually,it is designed for old WM2003,but apps developed there are working also under newest WM versions. Additionally to evC++ you do need WM 6.1 SDK with emulators and latest ServicePack for evC++.
Main problem there is,that the emulator for WM5+ doesn't work directly with evC++ and it cannot connect to the device directly via ActiveSync(because since WM5 it is using TCP/IP communication instead of regular serial as before). However, these are minor problems.
Greetings all
I'm an XDA veteran, and have had an idea for an application I'd like to develop. I have programming skills, mainly in VB6.
So my question is, what application/language is best/simplest for developing my app on WIndows Mobile? The main criteria I have is that I want to be able to read data from and write data to a remote windows based pc - I'm assuming that I'm going to do that via wifi or bluetooth networking.
I'm "between jobs" at the moment, so looking for a development platform that won't cost me much, if anything. I intend to make my application initially as free/donateware - it's something I need, but may be useful to others, but I don't want the hassle of trying to make it secure, serial numbers etc, for it to end up cracked on a warez site!
So what's the best development tool for PC/Windows Mobile development?
Thanks in advance
Are you looking to develop for Window Phone 7 or Windows Mobile 6.x?
This section is for WP7 development only, if you are looking for the latter, here is the right section http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=523
You can program in VB/C++/C# for WM 6.x using Visual studio, I'm unaware of other tools. For WP7, it is strictly C# with Silverlight (for applications) using Visual studio 2010 (You can get the express version free)

WM6 Really - Ill post in the other forum, sorry!
Hi All,
Very new to this windows mobile development, have downloaded the device manager/emulator from microsoft. and now i want to be able to emulate my htc leo? what is the proper way to do this? thanks
you can't emulate a device ,you can only emulate the os. If you want to develop for windows mobile then buy Visual Studio 2008 Pro or up. Hope this helps
Does anyone know if this new video enabled version of Skype is being ported to Windows Mobile (6.1) devices like the Touch Pro? Any timeframe.
Thanks,
Joe
Skype for Windows Mobile is not supported anymore ...
certainly not.
why?
because winmo 6.1 is purely and simply dead.
because winmo 6.5 is also in the graveyard with his little brother.
because skype has made already an end to this both plateform.
hahah hardly
wm6.x is hardly dead. is much more versatile than i-app-phone or goo-OS app crap...
Skype is losing revenue because there will be many that wont switch to limited os app based garbage.
cell phones in general are becoming dead in the beginnings of losing like landlines were 10 years ago... and there are other voip alternatives. you just have to look for them.
Salt at all, someone can tell me if there is a link to download a version of Skype running on a Samsung i900 Omnia with windows mobile 6.1 pro.
thank you for your interest.
Hi yann73 , in yahoo or in google search for "skype windows mobile" , look for the link that says "Skype Windows Mobile ... v3.0.0.256" , download file from a trustworthy site.
There are two types of files out there, one is a cab, another is exe, same version. Get the "exe" version.
Connect your Windows Mobile phone with your windows (pc/desktop/laptop) computer thru ActiVeSync type of sync software.
then run/execute the 'exe' version installer, it will install necessary stuff in ur computer first, then rightaway it will start to transfer+install inside ur Phone.
In my experience, i wasnt able to make the cab version worked on Phone, but the exe version when installed in Phone sync connection then it worked, ur experience may vary.
If audio doesnt work properly then you will also need the "WM Audio Redirector.zip" or AudioRoute, a free soft, search here in xda-dev.
As below phones are similar to mine, it should work on all of them : HTC Touch Diamond, Touch Diamond2, Touch HD, Touch HD2, Touch 3G, Mogul/Titan 6800, Kaiser / TyTN II , P4550 & Samsung Omnia i900.
That will allow to use Audio & Text chat . No Video chat support on that version of skype , unless some1 makes a VideoRoute software for it, like AudioRoute.
