But anyways
No more girly spam.

Thats when the unwanted caller will just block the id or use a different phone number. Mr.number is a greap app, I have only allow calls from my contact list allowed and blocked calls go to voicemail. Who ever had my number before me had some serious credit issues and bill collectors dont seem to understand that he/she no longer uses this number. I've also got weird numbers like 0000 or 1111 that have called me. Mr. Number took care of all those annoyances.

To get VVM to work in the 1st place I had to use Titanium Backup and back it up from a ROM (I used Synergy) that it was working on. Then I restored it on this ROM and it works perfect... I just get that annoying text as well... When I called that number it did set up the service and I had to dial *38 to disable all call forwarding and reactivate my VMM... (followed directions from the Sprint website) and that worked... Just dont know how to disable the text as it appears not to be a valid number to block.

Go to your messages inbox. Click on the title bar at the top that says messages and has an arrow. You should see a drop down with three options "general" "secure" and "block" click on block and it'll take you to your blocked inbox. Hit menu then click on block list. Add 9016 to block list then click done. Now go back to your messages inbox and hit menu and click on settings, click on "general" and scroll to the bottom, you should see "save blocked messages" unselect the box. That should fix it for you!
Oh, and just a heads up, if you have never used the secure or blocked inboxes, it will have you set up a password when you click on "blocked" in the dropdown menu.

I don't know about Root Call Blocker, but Call Master will let you set a schedule.
Ex:
(Number not in contacts) AND (between 9pm and 8am) => block the call.
Especially helpful if the numbers keep changing.
MIUI has a black list feature that is excellent. Any number you put in will simply be rejected, it won't even allow them to leave a message. And you will get no notice of the call if you choose not to. Its absolutely perfect.
I know Miui is not for everyone but if you like it, I am just letting you know the feature is there.
You can block numbers from your account on Verizon Wireless. Ex wife blocked my friend's numbers all the time. I'm not sure if it costs though.

+1 on this, root call blocker allows you to black list by wild card and also allows you to set up a white list only.

Do NOT register on any list. It only applies to spammers in your country. One your number is out there overseas spammeds will call you. The DNC list is a big buffet for spammers. They KNOW these numbers are live.

You can block up to 5 numbers in your Verizon account and there is no extra charge for it.
The numbers only stay blocked for 90 days then you would have to re-add them to the list if needed.
From your My Verizon page, look at the "I Want To..." section. It will be at the bottom under "Block Calls & Messages"
Although this may not be very useful if they are constantly rotating numbers. It is handy to know that it exists.
I hope the OP is able to get the harassment to stop.

I first signed up about 10 years ago and had zero spam calls for about 5 years, then they started happening again. I found out that the list expires, so it signed and I've had very few spam calls since. Also, they have now fixed the list, so that it no longer expires...
I know many other success stories, and zero horror stories...

Any decent call blocker will let you use wildcards so you can block all numbers from any spam callers as they all seem to use the same prefixed first 3-5 digits.
On the thunderbolt root call blocker was a battery hog for me, which apparently other users reported as well. However its been about 8 months so maybe its better now.
So far I've been saving all spam numbers to the same contact named spam in my contacts. I use tasker to fwd the call to VM which is handled by google voice and set as spam there so they get "the number you have reached has been disconnected" deal. So far so good.

My previous phone Galaxy i9000 (stock or custom) had a option under Call Settings to Black List Numbers,
I assume that was a feature for Samsung Galaxy series only? Isn't it a just a software feature? maybe not?
That feature worked so well, I wish I had that option with Galaxy Nexus without using some random 3rd party apps.

Rather pointless, since they're already violating far more consequential Federal statutes. Registering on the DNC is only going to deter the telemarketers that choose to abide by the law, and not those who are already blatantly violating it such as the calls that the OP is receiving. The do not call registry is nothing more than a paper tiger.
If there is any Sprint employees or someone with the knowledge please let me know of I use the block text message option thru Sprint website does it notify the person they can't send text to that number or alert them in any way. Ok here is a scenario of what I mean I block a number for my sons phone so that he can not recieve or send a text to a certain number. When he trust to send a text to that number is he notifyed in any way? Or when the person with said number sends a text to my son does it notify that user in any way?

I use this feature a lot for blocking both voice & texts.
When you block any number through the website the person who is being blocked has no idea. Your son can still text the number, he just can't receive a response. The only way he would know a number has been blocked from texting him is if he is standing next to the person, watches them text him but doesn't receive it. Then he's likely to get a hint.
I think you're wrong, but maybe I'm wrong too.
When blocking the number. If said friend is blocked it states, "this person has blocked you"<-not exact context. And if your son sends to said friend, it gives your son same message as well.
This might be though for 9999 blocking only.what i mean is
Text to 9999, "block #########"
Its going to send a message back stating its block status. You can also unblock the same way, and see the list of blocked numbers.

I just bought my T999 two days ago, and am just getting a feel for this phone. I've not rooted it yet, and may not for a bit. I haven't decided.
I have rooted several other phones, so I'm comfortable with that process. I just want to get a feel for a few weeks, and even see when/if 4.1 gets officially released in the short-term.
That said, I've been using GV since it came out; really before it was officially released. I load it on my phone, and when I go to configure the voicemail, it fails. I've called TMO tech support, and of course they don't want to touch this.
Any thoughts on this? Is there truly an incompatibility with GV on the T999 as the TMO rep told me? I've searched the Apps forum, and could not find anything remotely related to this issue.

If you are on T-mo prepay, they don't support conditional forwarding. However any t-mo number can get to a tech support (call a few times if need to) and they can just change your voicemail number in the system to your GV number.
Alternatively you can follow GSM codes and Google Voice instructions.
Type into your phone...
*004*1XXXYYYZZZZ# dial
That will forward (missed calls, busy, and phone not reachable) calls to that number.
Also, on T-mo (not prepay) and AT&T you can set the number of seconds before the ringing call goes to VM.
*61*1XXXYYYZZZZ**10# dial
Where 10 is the number of seconds the phone rings before going to VM.
You can look it up, but valid numbers there are 5, 10, 15, 20, 30.
You can save that as a contact and change the time it rings based on location.
(If you have two GV numbers, you could direct missed calls to one voicemail box,
and phone off /no service calls to another number for a different message)
Enjoy.
---------- Post added at 09:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:21 PM ----------
Also, just FYI, install the GV app on any android phone (since the G1), and it will allow you to toggle outgoing calls being made through GV or your call service (or prompt you each time you dial). So if the GV app is running you can call someone and the caller ID is your GV number. The phone says something about calling 1-800-whatever which is google's relay number. The app also allows you to listen to voicemails and full access to the same stuff in the webpage (ie. send SMS from the app, block calls, etc).
The only difference is that Sprint has totally integrated GV numbers with their phones, so you can actually send and receive calls from GV number without the app running or intermediate 800 number. (maybe they pseudo port your GV number)
Also protip, you can transfer GV numbers between different gmail accounts. You can even swap two GV numbers but it requires a third dummy google acct. The only thing in transferring is that you must have different pin numbers and the receiving account must not have any GV number associated with it (or you just transfer it to a new dummy acct). You can also have the same GV number listed on two gmail accounts is they both set the number to Home instead of Cell, but that means you cannot get SMS forwards. Google has a special webpage for the transferring process, which happens almost instantly.

You go to voice.google.com and add a cellphone to your account (or edit the number the acct is associated with). When you do this google with call you and you have to enter in two numbers. Or if you do not already have a GV number it will walk you through the process (pick a GV number, enter your cell number, confirmation, done)
Go into settings from your dialer, call forwarding, and then change the last three numbers to your gv number then it will work properly. For some reason the app doesn't do that part properly on our phones.
