[Q] Download Storage in Browser grayed out? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there!
I'm having an issue downloading files using the default Android Browser. Everytime I try to download a file, no matter the extension, it fails. I have noticed that the Download Storage option within Settings menu is grayed out and I can't change it.
I have also found a menu in Astro File Manager to allow downloads but it doesn't work either
Do you know any solution to this? I'm using this rooted stock froyo.
Thanks in advance.

[A]Why can't I download zips?

I'm not sure why, I could never download zips or large files to this phone. My last phone, The HTC Hero, was able to do this with no problem. Any ideas ?
using opera mobile I can download any zips. although if you are in a place with crappy 3g it might fail and you would have to do it again. when I can I download mine over wifi
install androzip and then try
You need a app associated with the file type to download. There is a app called download all files or something that will associate with all file types in order to download.
Download astro file manager from the market. open astro, hit the file manager button then the menu button and click on Preferences then scroll down to enable browser download, just click enable and youre good to go
Thank you the Astro fix seems to work.

Saving a file from a graphic link?

In the Galaxy Nexus stock browser, when I long-press on a text link, the menu option to "save link" is available. However, when the link is a button graphic, long-pressing the link only gives the option to "save image", "view image", or "set as wallpaper". How do I download the link (an mp3 file) from the browser?
On all of my previous Android devices, the stock browser would recognize that even though the link is represented by an image, it's still a link. Long-pressing would give the option to save link. By the way, my other Android devices have been the original Droid, Droid X, Toshiba Thrive, Nook Color running CM7.
This seems like a step back for the ICS browser. I tried using the Dolphin HD browser, but had the same problem. My current workaround is to click on the link, tell it to complete action using another app that will allow me to copy the link's URL, then pasting the link in an app called Download Manager to download the file (and if I navigate away from that app in the middle of a download, the download fails). I prefer to download from the stock browser, because it's more convenient and it can continue downloading the background while I do something else on the phone. I tried disabling "show images" in the stock browser settings, but when I do I'm unable to long-press the particular link I've been attempting. Normal-clicking the link only plays (streams) the mp3 file or asks what app I want to use to play the file; it doesn't download the file locally. I also have Astro File Manager installed on all devices, with the option enabled to allow downloading of all file types in the browser, but that shouldn't matter, because mp3 is a file type that's already recognized by the OS.
The link I'm talking about is at the following URL:
http://kelbytv.com/thegrid/2012/01/05/the-grid-episode-37/
If you scroll down to the bottom of the episode summary, there's a button that says "Download Audio Only" that links to an mp3 of this podcast.
Can anyone help solve this or confirm that they have the same problem?
similar issue
i have the same issue but with a different file type (.mov). Any idea how the link can be saved/downloaded? thanks in advance.

[Q] Can't send files via bluetooth using Sabsa Prime v6

I'm using Sabsa Prime 6.0 and I installed the ES Explorer and OI Explorer. With both file explorers I can't send files with the send option in the context menu via bluetooth. If I click on a file and press send or transfer it looks like that I can only send the file with my mail client. The is no option for bluetooth visible.
Have anybody the same problem and can this verify?
I'm on v6.5 as of now but I don't think there was such problem in v6.0 when I had it. In anycase, v6.5 is out. You can flash it over v6.0 and see if it solves the problem.
Just to be sure.. You're saying the "Share as.." menu you get when you select "Share" in the long press menu doesn't show Bluetooth as an option?

Yes, this is what I mean. Now I know the right name in english because I'm using the german language for rom.
I flashed to Sabsa Prime v6.5. I think there is another problem what I don't understand. If I try to send another file e.g. extension *.log, then I can see the bluetooth option after select the share option. I dont' see the bluetooth option if I try to send a *.apk file. Can me help anybody to understand this situation?
Hmm.. Strange. As far as I know there is no such limitation on not being able to send apk files. I'm able to see the bluetooth option for apk files. Could have been a temporary glitch? Is it still persisting? Still not showing the bluetooth option for apk files after flashing v6.5?
Ermm haven't try send by Bluetooth later will try n share btw I'm also using sabsaprime v6
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda app-developers app

[Q] add actions to choose an action?eedfr

I just picked up a 2014 Note 10.1 and am using the micro usb to usb adapter to connect my Garmin 800. I can use the file manager to access the files on the device and upload them to DropBox without any issues. However, when I go to my TrainingPeaks or Strava page and select to upload a file, I can't get an option to use the file manager to browse for a file. I'd really like some way to add options to the 'Choose an action' menu.
Does anyone know how this is possible?
I've messed around with this a bit more but I can't seem to get it to work no matter what I do. If I upload the file to DropBox then go to dDropBox to load it via the web page, I'm told that they can't determine the type of file. If I try to upload the exact same file from my PC, it works a charm. I don't have to do it from DropBox though.
Just wondering if anyone else has that issue with uploading files via the USB adapter to web pages.

Dropbox and File Manager

Hello guys, I have a problem with File Manager and its dropbox functions.
I went to Settings>General>Cloud>Cloud Accounts>Dropbox and ticked the File Manager options and even rebooted the device, why cannot I see any options to send to Dropbox on File Manager whenever I choose "share" . Since all the options are checked, why shouldn't it appear on the "share" option on File Manager?
Thanks
Edit: H815 V10C EU rooted
I'm on the LS991, rooted, using File Manager version 4.50.9.2. On my version, there's a section for cloud storage near the bottom of the screen. Where it says "Cloud, Manage Account" I had to set up my Dropbox account manually. Have you done this yet?
Although honestly, I use ES File Explorer for most of my file management.
