[Q] add actions to choose an action?eedfr - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

I just picked up a 2014 Note 10.1 and am using the micro usb to usb adapter to connect my Garmin 800. I can use the file manager to access the files on the device and upload them to DropBox without any issues. However, when I go to my TrainingPeaks or Strava page and select to upload a file, I can't get an option to use the file manager to browse for a file. I'd really like some way to add options to the 'Choose an action' menu.
Does anyone know how this is possible?

I've messed around with this a bit more but I can't seem to get it to work no matter what I do. If I upload the file to DropBox then go to dDropBox to load it via the web page, I'm told that they can't determine the type of file. If I try to upload the exact same file from my PC, it works a charm. I don't have to do it from DropBox though.
Just wondering if anyone else has that issue with uploading files via the USB adapter to web pages.

Installing '.apk' apps directly from a computer

Been looking for a thread on this but cannot seem to find it. How does one go about doing this? If I download an app to the computer and want to install directly to the phone, how can I do it if Kies does not allow me to do it? It keeps telling me it is not the right format when '.apk.' states it is.
BTW, is the lastest Kies suite v1.5.1.10074_2?
Switch to mass storage on your phone and transfer the file over.

You don't need Kies. Just connect your phone as a "Mass Storage device" to your computer and copy the apk file either to the internal or external sd card. Then using a folder organizer (either the inbuilt or any other app like astro) locate the apk file on your phone and click on it. It should then prompt you to install it.
Hope this helps.
adb install
Or if u cant use USB cable, just transfer the .apk file to your SGS via bluetooth then find the file in your SGS. default is:/sdcard/bluetooth then ryn it from there.
GL
Estrongs File Explorer can access any share on your computer directly.
Also, you can use adbWireless (just search for it). Assuming the SDK is installed, you can do:
adb connect x.x.x.x (your phone's ip address)
adb install your_app.apk
No usb connection needed.
Thanks guys. I transfered the file directly using the Mass Storage method used Astro to gain access to the file to install it. Great help from all of you. I do appreciate it very much. Again, a big thank you.
Dropbox is also great for transfering apk-files to your phone!

That's what I'm using
Perfectly fine, and even very practical. I sometimes give out links to my dropbox to my friends if they want an app that they saw on my phone.
Whoops, double post.

Attaching Dropbox files to email

I might be missing something here, but when I want to attach a file from my Dropbox to an email I'm sending using the stock email app, I select the attach option, then 'my files'. From here I can't find where my Dropbox files are located. Before Kitkat, I recall there being an option to browse the Dropbox folder. I found a workaround where I choose to attach an image, which DOES give me the option to browse my Dropbox folder, then select the 'show all files' option, then just select any non - image file I want to attach. It'd be easier to be able to browse all my files in one place though. Anyone with experience know what I'm doing wrong, if anything? Thanks.
You are better off sending a link to the file.

Can't seem to download pdfs anymore

I used to be able to but haven't done so since March/April on account of the summer holidays but with school having now started again I need to download pdfs.
Basically I tried yesterday to download a pdf, the first red flag was that it wouldn't let me change the destination to the external storage, the external sd card wasn't showing as if there wasn't one in. I thought little of this thinking I'll just move it later.
Once downloaded however it won't move (using ES file explorer) and won't open, Adobe says its not a valid PDF document. I can download and open etc. on my phone (2011 Note). And I also managed to download the file on my computer and transfer it via USB, this also works no problem, I can open it and move it around etc. on the tablet.
I've tried a few files multiple times and the same thing is happening so I don't think its a case of the download being incomplete.
I'm using Dolphin and the firmware updated a few days ago.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
@dtst Have you tried deleting and downloading adobe again?
If its not a personal pdf document I will happily try download it from my tablet to test it. I kniw for certain I can download files no problem as I downloaded loads of PDF files a few weeks back.
Yeah uninstalling/reinstalling Adobe didn't work.
Thanks for the offer unfortunately its on the colleges moodle site so I can't link it.
I've had issues with pdfs that had copy protection on them, I couldn't save them or move them
Should have tried this earlier tbh but it seems to be a problem with Dolphin.
I have successfully downloaded the same pdf using Chrome, Opera and the stock browser just annoying since Dolphin is my preferred browser and the others don't give the option to change destination on a file by file basis (afaik).
Hopefully this will be fixed in an update by Dolphin but for now its just a minor inconvenience.
Also ES file explorer seems to have a problem, when I try moving the newly download file it fails, again the stock file explorer is moving the files fine. Hopefully this too will be fixed soon.
I'm just glad I can download files to my tablet in class now without having to wait to use my laptop and transferring later.

Apk loader that can load multiple apks at once.

Hey guys I've been using adbfire pretty much exclusively since it came out but was just wondering if there is any apk loader program that lets you load multiple apks at once. My apk library is getting pretty big (about 30 or so) and I'm starting to get tired of loading them one by one when i'm setting up a unit does anything like this exist?
Really i'm the only person this lazy?
ES File Explorer. I keep everything I want for Android boxes and FireTVs in folders in Dropbox and ES is connected to my Dropbox account: I can select multiple items, download them all at once, then select just the apks and open them, ES will install them one by one (but you will need to give it permissions for every app).

You sir are a friend. I'm gonna try this tomorrow I just ordered like 4 boxes for some fam. I also know that there is a way to access a folder on you pc with es file explorer have you tried that method or is Dropbox fastest?
I've done it both ways, in my setup there was no big difference in the speed: with Dropbox I'm limited by the combination of my FireTV wireless and my internet, direct from my PC I'm limited by the combination of my FireTV wireless and my PC wireless. If both the FireTV and the PC are wired, I expect direct from your PC to be faster than using Dropbox.
After thinking about it a little more, probably the simplest, fastest thing you can do is put everything on a flash drive and plug it into the USB port on the FireTV, then you don't even need to copy the files to the FireTV.
- Format the flashdrive to FAT32 first (required for the FireTV)
- Copy your library of apps to it, and plug it into the FireTV
- Open ES and go to Local/extUSB
- Long press one apk, in a couple of seconds it will show a checkmark
- Select all the other apks you want to install
- Go to the bottom right and click on More
- Select open
Then you will have to sit and tell it to install and give permissions to each app, one by one. I tried it with Dolphin browser, worked fine.

Doesn't es file explorer let you install the apks without transfering them?
Yes, that's what I did from the flashdrive. Over wireless, I go ahead and copy the files to the FireTV before installing just because I'm a little paranoid about an error in the transfer causing a problem.

I just tried it out on the box it works great thanks for the tip so much easier. It actually did crash when I selected install without transferring files first but I think it was because I was installing another apk over web at the same time lol. Anyway when it restarted it just picked up where it left off and asked if I wanted to overwrite some files.

Question Reboot to see files

I use the program team viewer between my laptop & P6P to transfer files from the computer to the phone
and vice versa.
I must be missing something. ANYTIME I transfer a file, be it a photo, PDF or anything between the computer
and the phone, ANY file manager I use will not see the file, until I do a reboot of the phone.
Any ideas what I'm forgetting?
