Copilot draining battery

I seem to have a problem with co pilot where it continues to run even after I exit it. However the app is not visible in task manager. when I go to battery use co pilot its the number one user when in fact the app isn't even running. Does anyone else have this problem?

Did you disable GPs after using Co pilot ?

Yes I have. In order to fully close it I have to reboot the phone otherwise it continues to eat away at my battery.

Are you sure it's closed, and not just minimized? Which battery watch app you use? Might be problem with that not being accurate.

I recommend you guys get into contact with makers of CoPilot as they might have fix or ideas.

It's closed. When im done with the app I click 'Quit CoPilot'. Weird, seems it works fine for some, but not others.

Same here, closed it, its defo not running, yet the about battery screen says its eating away at the power. The battery history screen (*#*#4636#*#*) says its sensor usage, so I guess its a GPS thing, but don't know why its accessing GPS when off. Im running oldish firmware so that might have something to do with it as the wifi is forever turning on & off, might be related.

odd, but when i close copilot it closes
make sure you close and hot hide away
when it closed it doesn't eat battery
besides it's not copilot that eats battery, it's the GPS
as long as the GPS is off even if copilot is on, it will not consume battery

Are you people closing it from within CoPilot itself? Or by pressing the back button on the phone...
Running copilot for quite a while already but never noticed this.

i use the EXIT button inside copilot itself
else it just goes into hiding, but still active

Go to "Settings", "Applications", "manage applications", "running". See if it shows up in there. If not then it is not running and is being mis-reported.
BTW there is an update today.

I always exit from the exit menu within copilot and as far as I can tell its closed, but the battery statistics say its using gps, and therefore some battery, although doesn't seem to have gps active all the time. Might be a firmware bug as copilot wont always turn on gps, it'll just say no lock and the gps icon on the notification bar won't come on until I turn gps off and on again through the settings menu. Could be the opposite of that happening when you exit and gps isn't turned off correctly? Should get round to flashing newer firmware so I can turn it off and on from the notification bar but running ubuntu so not got kies working

i did get massive battery drainage using Copilot, until i changed the map color mode to always night
White on Amoled drains ya battery ive tested this with the phone charging on the car and still drained when on day colors and now on night it stays charged and slowly increases %
test it...

I had this problem also. i installed Copilot and noticed my phone battery was lasting at most a day all of a sudden i checked battery use in "About Phone" settings and copilot was the #1 user. i tried checking task manager but didnt show up, i checked that i didnt minimise it but i hadnt, i also checked that i quit the app from inside copilot not just hit the back button and i also checked my GPS was off but still my battery drained very quickly. I ended up uninstalling it since i have uninstalled my battery is back to normal. after checking that i could not get a refund i reinstalled it again today to see if it still happened or if there is a way i could fix it. So far the problem has not occured. But i make sure that exit copliot from the app itself and then i check task manager make sure it is not running in the background and i also clear memory to make sure everything is back to idle. since i have done this after each use i have not seen the problem re-occur. if it does come back i will have to uninstall again dont want to have to have my phone on charge all the time!!

random question, what map version are you guys using for copilot? because i heard they dont have an update for 2010, last time i tried they only had 2009 North America maps

you will see which regions have updated maps
mines are still stuck at Q4 - 2009
still waiting for 2010
the area were i live in, basically is not on the map literally, because is too new, so i'm looking forward to see the 2010 maps

I used to be able to leave my phone on standby overnight with 30% of battery with wifi on but whenever I do now it kills the battery and I mean kills it. Its dead to the point of me not being able to boot the phone on and have it shut down on me. I put my charger in and the LED flashes for a while and its only when it stays solid that the phone has enough charge for me to turn it on.
Is this a problem with the ROM or the firmware build its based on or am I missing a setting? WiFi is not on best performance mode and I have selected to turn off after 15mins inactivity?

It's likely to be due to the rom you are using. What rom is it?
It's not necessarily the wifi draining the battery.
The latest MIUI roms are terrible for battery drain relating to the mic not switching off. Post back and I will try and help.

Make sure you check under SETTINGS>>WIRELESS & NETWORKS>>WIRELES SETTINGS then press menu and then Advanced. Make sure the "Best Wifi Performance is unticked, and whilst your here may as well check the sleep timers.
If this doesn't work, then you may want to hunt down the app "Battery Historym for GB" which will allow you to see the battery history in GingerBread Sense based ROMS. this will allow you to look at what has been using the battery. What you are most interested here is the partial wake usage, or what has been stopping the phone from deep sleeping.
It might be the wifi or it might be an app you installed recently.
Make sure you do the usual, Check HTC Sync is not on, and other accounts which can get jammed in the sync process. I find google calendar can do that for me.
Also rememebr to check your radio is matched to your ROM and maybe get SetCPU (Search for it on here for the free for XDA subscribers version) and check your speed settings and governator. Im using Smoothass atm and it runs awesome for me.

Yeah I don't have anything but my Facebook/Twitter and Google accts setup to sync and thats even set to manual so as to avoid constant data drain. I know the HTC Sync and HTC Sense accounts draining battery and the fact that both Facebook and Twitter for HTC Sense along with Flickr cause the Calendar process to keep the phone awake.

Will have to double check on Lees thread but was under the impression the governor you mentioned runs on boot on Leedroid, I have setcpu installed but haven't given it root as I heard of setCPU causing issues with some Sense GB ROMS. I'll try everything else and look at that as a last resort.

Looked at using Spare Parts and the *#*#INFO#*#* but since GB it won't allow you to check the apps usage so gonna have to download that other app you suggested.

This is the second time it has happened to me .. last time I left it overnight at 45% and when I woke up the phone was off, so I looked in battery usage and saw that it fell to 0 right from ~25%, and today, I was in an international call, and the call cut off and the phone shut down. It wasn't hot at all, I checked.
Is there some bug with the software, or is it a problem with my battery?

Can you check in the setting menu, where the battery is used for? There must be some or one thing, maybe a constantly updating widget, which is faulty, it really take me 1.5 days before my battery is flat with internet on all the time, and 3 days plus with internet off.
On the other hand I had the same with my lg a while ago and after a flash it was OK.
Sometimes these kind of phones behave very unpredictable....

Oh I'm not worried about the battery life, I was putting it through a lot of use.. and I have a lot of widgets updating frequently
My concern is with the sudden drop from ~25% to 0 which has happened twice now

your battery might be wrongly calibrated.Download battery calibrator from market.charge to 100%,click calibrate battery..it should fix your problem

This happened to me few times. The last time I noticed was from ~48% left it overnight (only about 6 hours) and I woke up to find the phone was off. Usually my phone loose about ~25% overnight. Not sure what or who is the culprit. I have flashed few firmwares and none fixed the issue. Currently I'm rooted using Generic World firmware with locked bootloader and removed many bloatwares.

I've this program installed and I'm sure it has not helped with this issue. I see "missing data" when there is a sudden loss of battery.

I´ve also the problem; my arc is not rooted, so there is no chance to calibrate the battery...?

Had it once, took the battery out and in again and it had 20% more again. Then I charged it at home and so far it works fine.

Thank you. I´ve taken out the battery for about 15 minutes and put it in. The percentage is still as before.
Is there another way to reset the batterystats.bin without root?

Well looks like many people are having this issue, either there are a lot of faulty batteries out there, or its a problem with the firmware. I'm leaning towards the latter.

I experinced this issue with Singapore generic firmware as well as World Generic (current) firmware. Hence I don't think it could be a specific firmware issue.

Awake
Anyway to find out what or which program kept the phone to stay in awake? As you can see the screenshot, the phone was awake during random times and most of the time without the screen isn't on.

"Latitude"? How can I verify that it doesn't affect me

Latitude comes with Google Maps, its basically a location sharing feature. If you press the menu button in google maps you can click on latitude, then menu button again -> settings, and change from 'Detect Automatically' to 'Manual'
If you don't know what it is I doubt you actually have it enabled anyway, so it could be some weather widget maybe?

I checked and my menu reads as "Join Latitude" which means I have not enabled it in the first place (I guess so).
I'm using Beautiful widget for weather service so not sure whether that is the culprit.
I wish there is more visibility for this .

Btw I tried the Supercharger script, and it has doubled my battery life

May be due to the "Green Power" application. I checked before and if I switch on the WiFi it is continues without any problem.
I too hope for the same as you. Annoying bug .

I have the very same problem. The phone battery goes from 100% to 66-64 over the night...showing that the Cell standby and Display has drained the most of the %...

Light Flow battery drain?

I tried using the app called Light Flow in order to control the LED notification colours, seems to have been draining the battery..anyone else experience this?

Yeah I've noticed something causing my cpu to 'wake' more than it should when it should be idle. I've been thinking it might Light Flow, think I'll uninstall it tonight and see how much I lose overnight.
Don't know whether it's been the updates it has been getting or if it's done it all the time, but I know my battery certainly didn't drain this quickly before when idle.

yeah same thing happens to me, in the battery stats Android OS is the main contributor to drain and the CPU Awake time is always pretty high

interesting I havent suffered much noticeable effect on the battery. I juhst crashes every time i reboot the phone.

I disabled it earlier because I was having problems with it flashing after the notification was gone. Didn't notice any extra strain on battery though, although it could have been there.
At the moment it's 1 day 16 min on battery, with 20% Android OS and 5h 38m awake CPU time, is that high? (the Android OS bit/awake time)

Not noticing any drain with Lightflow... I notice that when an email/text comes in the phone wakes up briefly but whether that's Lightflow or normal I don't know... but the phone is asleep from then until I turn it on, even though the LED is flashing away merrily in the meantime. And I looked at this overnight - so getting an alert at maybe 2 or 3am and then actually checking it at 8am or so. Nothing abnormal between 2am and 8am, and noticed no extra battery drain.

Had this problem but I think I understand how it works now.
It will keep flashing if you have "individually" removed the notifications out of the notifications bar. Removing notifications this way doesn't seem to register in Light Flow but you can solve this by:
(a) running that app
(b) hit the "X" button to clear all notifications in the notifications bar.
Can anyone find a way to see if it really is Light Flow that consumes that much battery? I cannot really tell.

Hi.
Light flow will cause some battery drain, but I try to keep it as little as possible.
You will see a fair amount of time partially awake (not the screen on, but showing as awake in the battery usage) because of the app as every time you have more than one outstanding notification (of different colors) the app has to do a partial phone wake to run the alarm manager that changes the color.
There's a few things that can help this, firstly slowing down the frequency of cycling colors ("Notification - battery", in general settings).
Fast = 2.5 seconds
Medium = 5 seconds
Slow = 10 seconds
Very slow = 20 seconds
The other option is just to show the highest priority notification that's currently outstanding - then you'll just get 1 color (e.g. if you have an e-mail, missed call and sms message all outstanding - if you have priority of 1 set on missed call then only that will display of the 3)
Unless you really need them, all the additional light controls in the general settings menu e.g. button backlight, flash etc should be disabled to keep things minimal.
With the latest 2.7.x releases I found (on a nexus one) that the partial wake is for less than 100th of a second on every cycle change (previous version had got to about 400ths of a second)
As for not clearing the notification, at the moment I've got no hooks into swiping away individual notifications from the notification bar so they will keep flashing.
I'm thinking of adding an extra battery saving option where just the most recent notification type is shown as there wouldn't be the need for partial wakes for that.
The good news is I just got a Galaxy Nexus yesterday and after quite some time got the adb drivers working so I'll be looking into seeing what's possible with ICS soon.
So far I've just made one ICS specific change for the next release which is to remove the nag screen on upgrading about restarting accessibility as it seems google have finally sorted out the accessibility bug that caused the need for a restart!

Don't get too excited about the next release. It'll just be a bug fixes one (and the nag removal for ICS)
If there are any devs on here that can work out a way to pick up on the swipe to remove notifications could they get in touch. I've not found anything useful in the accessibility service so far.

Probably didn't see my question in another thread, but can you add a full RGB colour picker? Seeing as it's an RGB LED I assume this is possible, rather than just having the current, fixed, selection of named colours?

It's something I've had on my todo list for a while. It'd be relativley simple for phones line the Nexus One and Galaxy Nexus, the difficult part is fitting it in with the "direct mode" settings and mapping colors between them.
I'll see what I can do.

Light Flow also caused Sleep of Death on my phone. I've uninstalled and all is well now.

same here.. massive battery drain/phone got hot and she went night night.. had to pull battery. uninstalled

Considering other people are getting the sleep of death without Lightflow it seems a little rash to decide that Lightflow is causing it.

Add to that the cases where people are using Lightflow and NEVER had the Sleep of Death, it's fair to say Lightflow is not the (sole) cause. It MAY be behaving badly with some other app I guess... but I've been running it since day 2 (18th) and never had the sleepy death thing.

Help Me Figure Out Whats Making My Phone Die Over Night!

so recently my lg g3 been dieing over night left at 100% before i go to bed i usually wake up and its at 80-90%
this week my phone died 3 times over night. its really aggravating.
this time when i woke up it was at 5%!!
i thought it was led manager because on the wake lock it showed over 1000 wake locks
so i thought to remove and install a different one still same wakelocks.
this has never happened before when i used led manager.

What's with applock? On the last image right below led blinker. It was turned on even more than led blinker. Like 32000 times.

What SD card do you have and have you removed it to see if it is the cause. Have you recently installed a new app. Under settings, battery, usage what is using power. Under setting, apps, running what is running in the background.

its an app to lock an app or lock pictures in a vault. so i idk y thats an issue if im not using it when im asleep.

Do you have any apps not running. You have almost no ram left and everything running in the background. Is gallery continuously restarting.

shouldnt be doing this tho i never had this issue before. so i dont get why it would start doing it now..

Back to app locker. Is the vault on board or cloud based? Is it possible it's trying to sync and can't make a connection to the server so it keeps trying.

Ridiculous, i removed the led app and what ever other apps i recently dl and i still get a dead phone when i wake up. I cant find out whats causing it. So im buying a new battery and hope its better

I think if the battery was bad it would have less internal resistance and charge to full super fast too. Maybe try and swap a battery with a friend if you can or reinstall the stock software and keep your downloaded apps to a min. Maybe install a few at a time and see what you get.

Something just happend. I left my phone to charge and it wasnt charging! The charging indicator was there. I just restarted my phone and it stil lwasnt charging but it says it was charging but the battery stayed the same over an hour.. So i took out the battery and put it back in now its charging correctly

Hopefully that fixed it. That would be sweet. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya mayn.

nop. it did last 1 night.
left it fully charged over night it was at 94, the next night left it fully charged it was dead...
and i made sure to clear all my apps running. no idea why its doing this. i have a new battery coming in see if this helps..
this is really pissing me off that my phone is dieing over night. it never did this before.
