I've bought quite a few cables from them. I have had excellent success dealing with them, and no problems with any of the items purchased.

I bought a couple of these USB cables from Monoprice. They work just fine. I also bought the micro HDMI adapter from them for the EVO. Works great too! Shipping is also very cheap. If you live in California they have overnight shipment for less than $5.

Great online store.....

I've bought a few things from them. No problems at all.

A) How the hell have you not heard about Monoprice before?
B) MetalHead is a moron. Their cables are awesome.
C) I never buy a single cable from anywhere else, and I have wired my entire house - long network cables, long coax cables, long HDMI cables - and have never had a single bad cable from there.

Wow... a moron? Really? I was simply commenting on the fact that gold plated connectors mean absolutely nothing as far as the quality of a cable is concerned.
Thanks for being a jerk.

I bought 4 of those from them. They work just fine and seem to be of good quality (cord is thick and strong)

Your post insinuated that the monoprice cable was a "pile of dog ****." That is absolutely wrong.

Actually, I insinuated that just because it is gold plated does not make it good quality. Made no comment on the quality of those specific cables. Sorry if there was any confusion.

My dog is quite proud of his ****. As a matter if fact, he ****s in my room whenever possible just to show me how terrific it is. Unfortunately, he isn't the goose that laid the golden turd ;-)
Seriously guys, its obvious you just have a misunderstanding of intent. No reason for a flame war over it. I can see what Metal was trying to say and I also see why the other guy misread it.
I agree that gold plated wire connectors are more marketing gimmick than anything else. The gold they use is probably about a molecule thick or they would have to charge $1000 for the cable. Even though the gold is on the surface, the signal still has to travel through regular old wire the rest of the way. Its just a way for them to spend 5 cents and charge you $5 for it.

I would like to find about a 50 foot DVI cable so I can run it from my computer to my theatre room. Do they sell such things at this store?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App

I brought a Micro HDMI cable from them. Came to be a bad one. The connection was really loose and had to be held at an angle for my phone and tv would see it. Emailed them and they offered to replace it. Just haven't have the time to do it yet

Most monoprice stuff is very good. I have three of these cables and they work very well.

Bought a usb cigratte lighter charger and 4 micro usb cables from them under $10. Great site

thanks for the replies yea i just recently found it when doing a little googling for phone accessories.
normally i buy most stuff from newegg or google shopping

Depending on who you ask, some say that gold doesn't oxidize the way other metals do so you will get lower resistance and maintain max speeds, and it's supposed to last longer because gold doesn't tarnish. I realize that the latency on those 6 foot babys are not going to show any difference, but the connection is important to me. Being in the tech field for years, my own experiences tell me that I will get longer life from these. Thanks to all that spoke up about the experiences with the site.

What? Have you ever bought anything from them?
I've bought all my cables from Monoprice for years and the cables and prices are great. All my cables are from Monoprice and they are no different than the $100+ Monsters, or whatever other crap Best Buy or whoever, try and sell you.
P.S. Since you've just heard of Monoprice, this is another good site for random stuff including cables
http://www.meritline.com/

Monoprice had excellent stuff. I bought 4 of those cables and a few hdmi cables, all top notch.

Believe it or not there is a difference between $1 cables and $100 cables. I do agree that monster is a ripoff but there are benefits to investing more than just a couple dollars into your cables. Obviously $100 is excessive for almost any basic cable, but buying a $45 HDMI cable versus a $1 is not unreasonable. I work in the A/V and home automation industry and I can tell you first hand that there are noticeable performance gains from using higher end cables, especially HDMI. Aside from that, cables with better build quality just last longer and give you less problems. I'm not saying monoprice cables are bad, because I just don't know. I've never used them. My original comment was only directed at the "gold plated" comment in the OP. I was high as hell when I posted that and seriously the only thing I even remembered about the OP after reading it was that comment. My comment is a common saying in my industry and was the first thing that popped into my head. What it means is if a cable is made with sub par materials, overly thin conductors and bad build quality, gold plated connectors won't do a damn bit of good. It is still a crappy cable. Anyways, I'm deleting that comment because this is the end of it.

Seems pretty awesome huh!
This seller has no feedback!!
http://cgi.ebay.com/Angled-adapter-...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e5cf99471
For a little more you can get it from a slightly more reliable seller.
Even has a picture of it being used with the evo
http://cgi.ebay.com/XT800-HTC-EVO-M...ultDomain_0&hash=item2eae668ca4#ht_3238wt_822
The thing is both adapters look exactly the same!
Has anyone found a better source??
Here's another one, that isn't angled.
I actually think this one is better, wish I had held out now =(

funny that I can't find it on their website though.

Kinda pricey.
Since I already have a micro HDMI to standard HDMI male, I went with a pass thru standard female HDMI to standard female HDMI for $1.50 shipped.
nice find! i'll bite from the seller with no feedback, eBay protection has us covered anyway
don't forget 8% off with bing cashback if you pay with paypal. take advantage of it while you can, it ends at the end of the month.

I signed up for bing, got the cheaper one and saved 55 cents
Let's hope this goes well.
At least were in it together
I'm in for one as well, altho I ordered from the seller that had some feedback (40-something), so if I don't get it soon I'll be back ASAP to find out if you guys got yours. I'll let ya know how it goes either way, I hadn't even seen the thread when I jumped on it, I saw the link on one of the older threads about HDMI cables.
I really wanted this for traveling, even tho chances are I won't use it much, at 'least I'll have the option of using the EVO's HDMI-out without having to carry another HDMI cable. I already carry a standard HDMI cable that I can use for my laptop and for my camera (with an adapter as well). I don't mind the 90 degree angle as much as the size, looks pretty big, we'll see.
Does the Evo have a micro hdmi or a mini hdmi connector........never mind
Micro HDMI, otherwise known as Type D (mini is Type C)... Hence why we need this, and why finding the proper cable was such a pain initially (unless you wanted to pay 3-4x what it's worth at the Sprint store or Best Buy).
There was a third seller with these adapters at some point on Ebay btw, the link in the thread I alluded to before pointed to that seller... Apparently he's out, and the seller I got it from has sold at 'least one of 'em (it's in his feedback), so there's already a few people out there that has tried it out, heh. FWIW
Hard to tell from that pic, but think that we'll be able to use the micro-usb to charge the phone at the same time? That device looks bulky to me
^^^^
Exactly what I was thinking.
It definitely looks like it.. I messaged the seller
We'll see.
The new one I added to the OP isn't angled.
It looks like it would definitely work alongside USB.
Damnit! Why couldn't I wait a few days..
I would get the cable. That bulky thing will probably snap off your HDMI port.
is there enuff room to plug in the power cable too? cuz u will need it fo sho!
I got the angled one today, have you guys gotten yours? I think we ordered from different sellers... I'm surprised I got it this quick, must've made it from HK to Puerto Rico in just over a week! I briefly tested it this afternoon, the pics in the gallery and videos shot with the phone itself displayed perfectly on my Vizio HDTV using some cheap HDMI cable I had lying around.
It seemed like it wasn't gonna work when I first got into the gallery, but once you click on slideshow or playback the output comes up on the TV and you get some controls on the EVO. A notification also shows up on your EVO's notification shade when you hook up the cable btw, and an HDMI icon stays up there until the cable's unplugged.
I forgot to test it with YouTube, I'll get to it later and report...
I can hook up the angled HDMI adapter at the same time as a retractable USB cable that has a pretty slim plug btw, but the fit is really really snug, I wouldn't wanna use it like that all the time, YMMV. I actually went ahead and ordered the non-angled one you posted too, I figure I'll toss that one on my travel bag and I'll leave the other one at home.

The angled one plugs in securely and it doesn't feel like it's gonna damage the port at all unless you yank on it like a savage, but the angle w/the cable coming at you is pretty awkward, if it was angled in the opposite direction it'd be more natural... You could hold the EVO parallel to the ground and have the cable go straight down. I guess if you were gonna lay it down on it's screen this would be fine but then you have no access to playback controls.
Oh and I can plug in the angled adapter with a TPU case just fine, the TPU cases have a pretty minor edge/lip around the ports tho. I can try it later w/the Sprint silicon gel if anyone's interested, or I can post a pic of the small plug on my retractable USB cable. I'm pretty sure the OEM cable wouldn't fit alongside it, since it has a much wider edge around the plug.
Alright, here's some of the retractable USB cable I mentioned that I was able to plug in a the same time as the adapter... If you want to see a pic of both of 'em plugged into my EVO simultaneously lemme know and I'll get my camera and take one later (I took these w/the EVO itself).
The original EBay listings have been updated w/more pics of the angled adapter than what they had when I originally ordered it, but at this point I'd just go w/the straight one, even tho I don't think it has any less of an edge than the angled one.
They both look pretty thick, if you're gonna be playing full length movies off your EVO you might just wanna charge it beforehand.
I received it today!
I must say I am definitely pleased..
First of all it works. No problems with youtube, gallery, or anything else (yet)
Also, I thought i would hate the strange angle but I learned not only to like it but love it.
How could that possibly be, you ask? (one handed control! lol. If anythings gonna break the port it's this)
Also the standard usb fits in the port comfortably for me.
Overall it's sturdy, well made, and i've had 0 problems so far.
That said, i'd still go with the non-angled if i had the choice.
Sorry about the big pictures, they were taken in all their 8MP glory using a second evo. I did a little resizing.
P.S. This works exactly like any other hdmi cord/adapter. You can view pictures in gallery using slideshow, videos on youtube work (although I think htc needs to work on nailing down the 720p concept ), and videos work great.
If anyone is looking to sell their angled one to replace with a straight one, shoot me a PM .
Yikes, I'd be scared to hold it like that! I'll have to try the OEM cord at some point, maybe I had the wrong impression and it's actually got less of a border than the retractable one I was testing with. Just bought an extra 6-ft red HDMI cable off MonoPrice for like $5 shipped, cheapest I could find it locally was $20, can't believe they still sell for that much, sigh.

Good Micro USB Cables

I figured we could use a thread where people could post good deals on micro usb cables or just good micro usb cables that are proven to work on the EVO.
I picked up one of the Blackberry cables. It has the molded in Blackberry logo and it works well for charging/data and it is cheap. However, the insulation isn't very flexible so I imagine it will be fairly stiff in a cold car in winter. Example:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150487513418&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I have also used the Nokia sync cables with partial success. I had one with my last Nokia phone that worked great, very high quality cable, and great flexible insulation. However, when I sold my Nokia phone and the cable with it, I bought a replacement cable off of Ebay and strangely enough, data worked but it wouldn't charge. So, I can only recommend these with a little bit of reservation. Look for the ones that have a cord detangler on them (CA-101). Example:
http://cgi.ebay.com/CA-101-USB-Data...031540?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item35acb861f4
The stock HTC cable has decent flexible insulation but the ends seem a bit flimsy. Anyone find where to buy more of these cheap?
Let's try to avoid the cheap non-branded cables in this thread unless you can attest to their quality.
I figure I should post here because I'm in need of a cable too.
A strange note on a "Blackberry" cable I got from Amazon, this one here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001QATRCA/ref=oss_product
This cable seemed to work fine for me, my phone would show it is charging in AC mode when I was plugged into the wall charger, and data transfers fine across it. I did break one of the tiny plastic tabs that holds the micro side connector together, and it split open, but it is just two rectangular plastic halves that I taped back together. Everything seems to work fine on the cable, except when I charge the phone, I could swear it was charging SLOWER than my other cables.
Sure enough, after using Current Widget and testing with various cables, it was in fact charging at a LOWER current and charging SLOWER than all my other cables.
It just so happens that my OEM cable got bent at the micro usb side connector, and after trying to mess around with it the cable works but if you mess with it too much it disconnects.
I'm using a cable from my palm car charger, and that works fine.
I'm planning on buying one of the monoprice ones, they have nice gold plated ones for around $1.50 plus shipping. If anyone has any words to say about the longer cables (6ft) and the ferrite cores, it would be great to hear if there's any difficulties with those.

I've been using a Palmpre cable.
Anyone no of of any 90 degree cables that point down (towards the back of the phone). I figure a 90 degree cable would work well for a car mount. I found one source but $16 seems a little pricey for a micro usb cable.
I got these cables with the car charger (actually shows up as AC ~1A charging too) and also comes with a home charger. Like the retractable/adjustable length on these since they don't get all tangled around my dash. Check them out $4.50 is a steal for these.

I again recommend monoprice...best place for cables.
I've been using all of my extra Palm Pre cables with no problems. Found a 6-in-1 USB cable at Five Below that charges the Evo, Hero, iPod, Nintendo DS & some other stuff. Can't comment on how fast or slow it charges compared to other chargers but for $5 you can't beat it.

I have to recommend the monoprice cables as well. I got the 6 foot micro usb cable with ferrite core. With the HTC wall charger (TC U250) and the monoprice cable, I get 776-908 mA charging speeds. That's about 100-125 mA faster than the the HTC wall charger and stock cable that came with it.
Just looked at Monoprice due to this post. My my, such inexpensive cables! And myriad customer reviews say they are of good quality, sturdy, connections are strong, charges faster, etc. Thanks for alerting us to this site! Definitely gonna purchase myself some cables now. What a steal.
Does anyone know if these cables, or the one supplied with the phone, can be used with different, well, don't know how to name it... the thing you plug into the wall and the USB plugs into. The AC/DC adapter or something maybe? Yeah.
Retesting the monoprice cables, i get current output from 484-900 mA.

Ya, no reason why it wouldn't work with other ones, its just a USB cable. You can even use them to sync data between your phone and computer, just like any other USB cable.
You can always get a OEM one for a little more or about the same price. That's what I do. But the Samsung and Blackberry ones work well with the Evo.
Check out this if you want a retractable cable. We bought about 15 of these for people in my office.

Recommendation for a Aux cable

As title says. I would like to see what you guys recommend for a AUX cable. Mostly going to keep it in my car the whole time. Need something that can stand heat and sun
Thanks
Just pick up the cheapest one you can find. Any 3.5mm cable will do.

What? how can you possibly go over 3 aux cables in a month??
Anyway use the cheapest and shortest usable one, there is no improvement from the more expensive ones, they usually suck more than the cheap ones (ie anything from monster and similar companies just suck your money away with their directional cables...). The plastics of today are not that bothered by the sun and even the cheapest ones will outlive you.

Were they the ones with an L shaped connector or straight ones? Avoid cheap L shaped ones, they actually do suck and get broken inside the connector. Use ones with a straight plug and anything over 10€ for 1m is a straight rip off.

It's just $2.60, about the same to ship it...pretty hard to beat considering the quality and beauty of the cable you get. I have nothing but Monoprice cables for my home theater setup, been using them for about 6yrs now and no complaints. Great product, great prices and great customer service to match.
Just get a cheap retractable cable from eBay.
I bought a Kensington Car Aux Cable on ebay for like $4. They use lower frequencies which help if your audio app has a "preamp". It's been alive for over 8 months, this is a rare thing when it comes to ebay aux cables.

Review of Smiley and Mini-strap usb cables w/lots of pics!

This is a review of Smiley Luminescence usb cable: http://www.tvc-mall.com/details/Smi...I9300-S4-I9500-N7100-HTC-Sony-White-MCH-636B/ and Mini-digital Strap usb cable: http://www.tvc-mall.com/details/3-i...r-Samsung-Sony-HTC-Etc.-Orange-Strap-CR-267A/
Since I'm on a roll with reviews from my recent tvc-mall order, here is another unique one you all might appreciate and enjoy! A typical usb to micro-usb cable is a boring piece of wire, nothing to get excited about. It took me awhile to search and to find something unique and fun to share with everybody. And for about $1 plus change - it's also a great value from tvc-mall.
First one is a Smiley cable. Just one look at it and you realize where the name came from. Both usb and micro-usb connectors have a light-up embedded smiley faces on one side and a round dot on another side. It looks super cool and highly visible in the dark. So once you have usb side connected to wall or car charger, both ends light-up and you will not have any problem finding your phone's micro-usb port to connect the other side of the cable in the dark. Cable itself is a flat noodle design. Feels and looks very durable, and comes in a variety of close to a dozen of different colors. One thing I do have to mention, I checked it with Galaxy Charging current app, and found that you will not be able to get full 2A charging speed. Perhaps there is some loss with current being used to light up smiley faces or wires being thinner, but honestly for $1.19 this is going to be the coolest charging/data cable in your collection.
Here is how it looks.

The other cable is a very short (a total of 4" end-to-end) multi-functional charging/data transfer cable which is equally unique. When you are traveling or on the go, dragging a spool of long cable often is not preferable. Finding the shortest cable is also a challenge because short cables are not as durable and often will not allow full speed charging. This one hits a mark in every aspect. It has a flat noodle design, dust caps on both of the usb and micro-usb connectors, and I confirmed it can charge your Note 2 at full 2A current!!! As a bonus, it has a unique built-in micro-sd card reader. The full usb connector has pins on both sides with one side supposedly being able to read data from micro-sd. OK, I tried it and even demonstrated in my pictures. I was NOT able to read micro-sd card, that didn't work for me. But who cares! For $1.32 you are getting one of the shortest and coolest looking charging and data cables which can take a full advantage of 2A charging. It even comes in 3 different color combinations. Definitely happy with this one as well, been using it with my extended battery for a few days now - very convenient to eliminate mess of long usb cables.
The pictures are below.

Too bad that the card reader aspect didn't work for you, perhaps the ones others have received may work. I guess you could use it as a way of storing/transporting additional micro-sd cards with you.
how long does it take to ship from this website?

Guess what? I ordered and just received 2 more of these mini-strap cables and actually one reads micro-sd without a problem! So let's see, 1 out of 3 works Listen, for $1.32 it works just as a cable and considering you can put it on your keychain (that lanyard cap part latches on with two little hooks securely). So, I would recommend for anybody if you want to try your luck with it's built-in micro-sd card reader to order 3 of those lol!!!! At least that was my luck...

I have ordered from them in the past both using standard cheapest method and once with DHL upgrade. DHL upgrade is a bit pricey but will take you 3 days to get from China to US (I'm not kidding). Regular cheapest shipping is the usual 2 weeks you get with any ebay purchase. Because of my order history and my online write ups about their products - I get complimentary DHL upgrades One thing for sure, any time I get something which doesn't work they always credit back the price to my account.
Btw, I got a few tiny speakers from them, one bt and another one just with external aux connection, both have micro-sd card slot to turn it into little mp3 player - just mind blowing sound. Expect reviews soon!

Micro USB Qi wireless receivers?

Has anyone tried one of these qi receiver tags that plugs into your Micro USB port?

I know they aren't optimal, but I figured if it works it would be a good hold over until good ones come out for the G3 specific.
I will let you know when my phone gets in, I have one left over from my LG G2. I don't see why it shouldn't work though.

Thanks. Any idea which one I should look at getting? Haven't seen a good enough shot of the micro USB port to make sure I get one facing the right direction. I've got Amazon Prime so I'll probably get one from there to test.

That one is on Amazon, Prime, and has 2 different models. Anyone seen a close enough photo to know which one we'd need? Port A or Port B?
I'm going to try to find one with a metal plug instead of this plastic one.
This one has tons of different options. Less than $11 on prime.

Sorry for the multiple posts, I thought it would collapse them.
From what I saw in pictures, it should be this one correct?

If so I'll pick one up today so its here for testing when my phone arrives.
Yes I got one and didn't work.
Didn't charge at all? Can you give us some specifics?
No didn't even register on the phone. It was only $7. I ended up ripping out the Quick Circle charging coil and putting it in my phone. Works a treat!
Thanks. Do you know exactly which one you used (perhaps a link to where you purchased) so those of us that want to test other ones skip it?

Im using this one; http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HI8JYFE/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
No problems after all. Working OK with my F400K
So now its working? Awesome! Buying 2 right now.
Mine works as well, I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IQ2GUFI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
BUT it only works if i have the receiver stuck on the back of the phone in between it and the phone case. If I have it on top of the battery the signal doesn't make it through.. perhaps because of the curved nature of the phone and the NFC receiver on the inside of the back cover.
I was always under the impression that NFC and wireless charging interfered with each other unless it was one integrated unit. That's probably why yours only works that way.
Well I got mine and tried it out, and while it does work, kind of, I'm sending them back. The cable ribbon is so thin it feels like it is going to rip, it would also need you to bend it at a bad angle to get it inside a case or inside the back. I can't get a GOOD charging connection with my TYLT VU chargers, so it is going back.

The cable ribbon is probably thin because you need to bend it at weird/sharp angles and it has to fit in the cracks of the back or case. As long as you're not constantly pulling on it, there's really no risk of tearing. Connections are fine with my $20 chargers, I can drop it on pretty much anywhere in the vicinity of the receiver and it'll charge.
Charge rate depends on which receiver you go with. Most, including the ones posted here, are 500mA which is kind of slow. I should be getting an 800mA one soon so hopefully that'll pick up the pace. IMO, these are still better than switching to PMA.
Its not so much the thin that bothers me, it is how flimsy it is. I mean it could have some reinforcement of some kind you'd think. And it leaves the pad really low on the phone, probably part of the reason it doesn't connect well even with a QI pad a good as the TYLT VU. Just removing the thing to root my device was scary, I thought the USB plug was going to tear off and stay in.
I just bought 2 battery covers with integrated Qi/NFC for $23 each on ebay (my wife got a G3 also) so that should fix the issues for me. Not sure what the VU charges at, but with my Nexus 5 it was always great, for a heavy user like me, I was satisfied (Qi dock in my car too).
What kind of qi car dock do you have? I love the wireless charging and have seen a few posts you put on XDA. I ordered that back plate from eBay, hopefully it works OK and I had ordered the sticker from China but it seems like a pain in the ass ripping off the old one.

Let me find a link for you. Been really happy with it. Glad my posts are helping folks!

Do you have a link to the ones you bought? Also could you post some pictures when you receive and install them?
