Boot Anim help... - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a boot anim I put together that is attached. First I take NOOOOOOOOOO credit what so ever. Just pieces from other roms that I put to how I want it to look. Problem is that it won't boot up on my EVO. All I get is a black screen and then after about 10 seconds my phone loads to home screen. NO BOOT ANIMATION...lol. I know I jacked it up somewhere but since I haven't the slightest what I'm doing, I was hoping one of you more talented members could take a look at it for me.
I looked a few places but nothin really helped at all. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: Sooooo attachments aren't working, huh? Well nevermind then...

Are you pushing it via adb, or are you using root explorer?

Root explorer. I've been reading about pushing files (a lil bit) but I get confused...lol. I've changed boot anim b4 with just using root explorer but this time it just didn't work. I'm guessing that may need to be the way to go?!?!?

Reboot just incase somebody has some other info or suggestion. Not a big deal but this anim I put together kicks @$$. Can't attach bcuz of the file size tho. Really hope you guys can help.
PS. I did see this post on boot animations but it kinda confuses me. Sorry if the explanation by this guy was str8 foward and I'm an idiot but I just don't get it. And I'm "smart"...so I thought. Any help would be a blessing!!!

{MOD} Bootanimation [Burning Apple-Landscape] *Six6Sicks* 5/20/10

Please delete this thread.
Haha nice.
Do you have it in portrait?
Oh yeah thanks for your hard work
Cool!
Hey, i tried to convert it to portrait, but my zip won't play the animation on start. Is there something special to do with the png's?
I uploaded the edited images only - would you be so kind and make it working??
Thanks!
Edit: Ok. Got it working. I compressed the zip instead of not compressing it...
Here is the Portrait one:

Haha I just downloaded your images and zipped without compressing and it worked.
I was just about to upload it but it looks you figured it out and beat me to it.
Thanks to you hudl for resizing the images and to you Six6Sicks for the hard work of actually creating it.

The only thing I "created" was the bootanimation. I found the original burning apple video online and just made it so it could work as a bootanimation.
I guess I only should get 50% credit for this. But thanks.
(The juggling droid bootanimation is the only one I fully created from beginning to end)

Hey, that's what community is about - teamwork!!
Thank you for putting it together!
Hey guys... I'm kinda new to the Cyanogen scene but I'm realizing how incredibly awesome it is! I successfully flashed my mytouch with the current CynMOD. I would love to get the burning apple on my start screen. One question, when you download the file, place it on the sdcard... I get a little lost from there. Do I place it in the CMupdater Data folder? Do I start from the quick reboot screen and extract from there? Little help.
Thanks
Sean
Wow...this one is really nice, going to flash it now

You can use a file manager from Market (like "Linda File Manager" or "ASTRO File Manager") to navigate to "sdcard" folder and copy the bootanimation.zip to "data/local".
Or you can install DroidExplorer on your PC to copy the file directly to "data/local" via your PC.
If you are using CM5 I recommend putting it in system/media.
The original bootanimation is in there, so remove it and put the new one in there.
If you put it in data/local it will work but then you have an extra zip file just taking up space.
Nice!
Love it man, thanks! Now I get a visual to match my feelings for the "fruit"; especially considering the Draconian measures jobs takes with his products. Shame... Thanks again!
Made a little modification to the portrait one.
First let me just say I have very limited photoshop skills so I thought I would just do this for my own fun.
If anyone else likes it knock yourself out.
hmmm. I guess I can't upload an animated gif. how about this.
Looks good, sleepy!
Love it man!!! very good
LOL....looks awesome !
Haha great minds think alike

btw awesome work to th op and those who also contributed!! (Y)
WTF is going on?!?!?!
Ok... first of all, this boot animation is freakin sweet!!!
But, I have an issue.
I have tried this animation in both media and local on my G1. My boot time went from 45 seconds to over 6 minutes!! Regardless of where the zip file is.
How in the world do I fix this??? Temporarily going back to stock boot animation.
Thanks for your speedy replies.
Yo Six6Sicks i think its time u bring ur wide array of boot animations to lwp

[REQ] rodroid Bootanimation

If someone could make a boot animation for me, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm running Cyanogen 5.0.8-DS, and attached is my boot splash, but I'd like it to also be a bootanimation with the glow on the text sweeping from left to right. Also, if you could move the text closer to the bottom, that would be cool. After I flashed it, I realized that big gap looks ugly but it's late and I'm too tired to fix it tonight. I have searched every forum I can think of for a bootanimation tutorial and I haven't found one, so I figured I'd just toss this request out there.

That's great too! I'll probably use yours as a still splash1 and use the other for the actual animation.

[Q] removing splash

is there anyway of going without a splash screen, and just having bootanimation run from the time you turn on phone till desktop pops up??
i have search forums cant find anything, or overlooked it.
As for no splash screen, I don't believe so. If you wanted, you could make a blank one of sort if it bothers you that much.
it doesnt bother me, hell got a custom one installed, i just have one bootanimation that gets cut off cause my phone loads fast, and i dont see whole bootanimation. so a blank one would do the same. but ty

Well if you needed it to be longer, you could try getting a different one, or decreasing the frames per second.
no you can't. the splash is a very basic image, that is executed by the boot.img alone, while the boot.img is loading the system. once the system is (at least partially) loaded, it can start the boot animation. correct me if i'm wrong (probably am) but i think that's how it works. either way, you need a splash.

cool guys thanx for all the responding, i will stick with bootanimation i have. and to get full animation that i wanted i would to increase frames per sec. to see more of the animation instead of decreasing making it slower and seeing less of the animation. but again thanx for your help. glad i joined this forum it has been a big help since rooting my evo

The Walking Dead help with bootup sound or animations

Looking for little help, i'm trying to add the walking dead theme song as my bootup sound, i have it as a mp3 and convereted it to wav, but it still shows it as to big, is there a program anyone can suggest to shorten the audio file...also would like to get some walking dead bootup and shutdown animation if possible. anyone up for the challenge?
well i found this free program http://www.boxoft.com/wav-to-mp3/ so i solved the sound issue. any takers on a good walking dead boot animation?
This would definitely be awesome. Hope someone takes the challenge on.

I am a HUGE walking dead fan. I would definitely rock this if someone takes up the challenge.
Meanwhile I will be scouring youtube for something that seems bootup animation worthy
Sent from my CM9 Epic 4G
I'm a big fan of the show..I think if u can get the episode when Sofia comes out of the barn and add the a part of the theme would be killer...maybe even Daryl riding his brothers bike would be good two..check out some torrent sites for the show and edit what u need....I would help more but no comp
here is a boot animation i made and i will load the theme for the walking dead power on sound
boot animation
http://d-h.st/EEj
add to system folder then media
boot up sound
http://d-h.st/tlI
add to system folder then to etc
let me know what you think, i'm new to this and i think there ok but no where near perfect.
What's the word on compatibility? Should this work with CM9? If so I will flash and give you my opinion. I'm super stoked nonetheless, thanks for your work!

ok this is the swap method were you replace your bootanimation.zip , i used super manager from the market, then file explorer. then you copy the bootanimation from your sd card , then backup level folder then goto system folder then media, here you can add a 1 or something to the original bootanimation file then paste the new one, reboot and see what you think.......please do a backup prior to loading just incase there are any issues and you can easily go back to your original setup. message me if i can help any better or if i didnt explain it well.
OK I tryed the swap method right after I posted that last reply and well it bricked the phone sio I had to get my buddy over with his laptop cause I blue my comp up...but I would love to see this work but won't try again until I have a working comp..

i'm sorry you ran into problems , i wish someone smarter than me with this would take over this page and get us a really good walking dead theme. i know there is a interest because my downloads show tons of people downloading these files, also wish they would post comments or a interest in this project so one of the great themers would knock this one out the box!!! travismoreno cough cough

I'm interested in it, unfortunately, I don't have /system root access (using CleanGB, but for some reason, it won't let me copy the files there). Am definitely monitoring this thread.
I've been a silent observer on this thread anticipating progress. My wife already has walking dead wallpaper, ringtone, and notification sounds from Zedge. Boot animation would be awesome!

Just by looking at it on my phone I can already spot a few issues. One being the wrong pic size within the desc.txt also with the labeling. Ill whip something up in a sec using what I got here. I honestly have never heard of the walking dead or else id take up more stuff including it
EDIT: ok so the images dont show up right so i need a new gif or video of something to use as a boot animation. Im not familiar with this show so its up to you guys what you want the boot animation to show..... let me know

Droid X type Boot animation

Ok, i've been searching around for the last hour in various places for a bootanimation i used to have on my Desire, as far as i can make out so far it's a mix between the Verizon Droid x advert and the Droid x red eye..........can't find it for love nor money, starts off with the human eye looking about, then morphs into the Droid eye looping. Anyone have it?
this is part of it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOnC5chCag0
Which then went into this sort of thing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7D5nsVn9XM
And just realised i should have put this in the Q & A section!
this looks cool i want it as well!
I can't find it for the life of me, restored my laptop since i had it, and not got my Desire anymore........tried trawling on here and Phandroid forum but can't locate it.
Ok, i've eventually stumbled across the animation i had,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=774180
Just need to figure out WTF i have to do with it to get it onto the X
Please do as i also liked this very much
Well, i've got this one onto my phone, running LeeDrOiD rom (bootanimation in System/customize/resorce) , no idea if i have done it right, but it works......although there are a few frames that could do with a bit of work, some of the transition frames show lines form being different sized pictures originally. I have no photoshop skills at all and have no idea how i would go about adjusting these frames, struggling a little with the size as well, the red eye part is slightly stretched and no matter what i try when resizing the images i can't get it to look quite right.
Also, i tried to get the last set of frames from the original to loop, but when i tried doing this there was a noticable blank section before starting the loop, so i just renamed the frames again and again until it was just about long enough. Probably the completely wrong way of doing it but like i said...i know nothing!
try asking tattari for help, he is great with photoshop, and his team are all good devs.
Thanks, i'll send him a pm and see if he can offer any advice/help.
I have managed to get it in proportion now, although it doesn't quite fill the whole screen but still looks good.
The only problem i see with it is with 5 images in the transition between human eye to robot eye, you can see the lines from the picture being a different size.
I have pm'd the lad who made the original to make sure he is ok with me trying to get it on my X, but looking from his profile he doesn't come on here anymore. (CYBERxNUKE)
Almost got this ready, will be available soon.
Need someone to test this who has bootanimation in /data/local
Aroma installer works fine for /system/customize/resource, just need to check with other Bootanimation locations.
Why can't I manually copy the file? installer not needed I guess.where is the file that u want to test.I'll be glad to do it.

You could manually install it if you extract the bootanimation.zip, just trying to make it easier...i've Pm'd you the download link if you wish to try the installer. Also could you let me know if the delete bootsound option works?
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Will probably be adding the release later on today
