Post Your Boot Animation Screen

Kinda like how Phromik was interested in seeing all your home screens, I'd be interested in seeing peoples custom boot screens.

OO is the boot screen the picture that comes up before the g1 logo

not the boot screen, the boot ANIMATION. the one that on the default has the scrolling "android". if you want to know how to change it on non-hero builds, check out the tutorial I made. the link to it is in my signature.

ah misread, sorry. I haven't changed my animation yet. Just one more thing to customize.

Eyes do not flash it's just the first screen that you see then it's the normal android bootup after that. But if you want to grab it feel free. My girl actually gave me an idea for one but have not had time to work on it yet might do it later this week.

the thread in this forum that saus "post your boot images here" has all the instructions you need to change the splash screen.

For any Redwings fans
I made this for my animation earlier.

It's from a picture of my Halloween costume from last year. A clown with a chainsaw. The shine makes a neat effect in the ring around the picture.

[Q] Location of Menu Sub Text in framework xmls

Working on a gingerbread theme for DK28, not quite sure if i'll release it or not, but while dumping the pngs in and testing on my phone, I noticed the issue in the attached screenshot. The backgrounds for the icons when you hit menu from the homescreen are now black so the black text no longer shows up.
Anyone know where this text can be found in the framework xmls so I can edit it? Its the only issue I found and I poked around the xmls but couldnt find anything that jumped out at me, thanks for any help!

This is what I'll trying to figure out as well, its really pissing me off as its the only thing stopping me from releasing my rom. Im keeping an eye on this thread as well.

newest android SDK for the most part, i also pulled some things that were missing from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=864819.
I think I'm ready to post it except for that text for the menu backgrounds, just gotta get permission for the things i stole, eh hem, borrowed also!

I was trying the same thing, try a menu smali file in the framework.

Sorry, I mean on our phones. Its probably a dumb question, I know. Its like the only one I can't find. I have changed every one of then, even some in apps but I can't find that one. What and where is the files. lol

oh right, well its gotta be in framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi for sure, i changed out almost every icon in there, flashed it and voila, black menu backgrounds. so i dont know exactly what pngs were responsible. doing a quick search for menu though i get the following i put my money on the starred one:
menu_background.9.png
***menu_background_fill_parent_width.9.png
menu_submenu_background.9.png
so what is a menu smali file? i'll search around but i've never done anything with one.
EDIT: sounds like smali might be a little out of my league, lol. but i think i may have found something, testing now before i reveal it. then just one more thing to fix and i think its ready to go!

okay well i found what to do for xml edits here:

but i did them and it doesnt look like it took. i've asked the OP of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=863860 for some advice and also on changing the notification text from white to dark as it doesnt look good on the lighter gray notification background in GB.
hopefully i'll have something up today or tomorrow, its looking great other than that!
looking good so far, even with a GB battery 1% mod! just 2 more little issues to fix!

Take the image you want, make sure it's 480 X 800, save it in png format, and follow this page.

I see how to do that... but I was asking for someone with experience doing it to assist. Plus, there's no information on creating bootanimation.zip in that thread. I appreciate you re-directing me to another thread, however, I simply was wondering if anyone had this already ready?

If you can make sound work with it and have it say "THUNDERCATS HOOO!!", I am so flashing it.

BOOM! There it is! Sweet. That's half of the request filled. I'll be trying to work on making my own boot animation from one of these. I want to make the "eye of thundera" zoom in, and then back out so u see the sword... and it flashing and growing like in the tv show... or something like that! If I get all of the right sized graphics, i'll try and modify em and string em together and compile em. If I get it done... I'll post. If anyone else has some cool THUNDERCATS either 480x800 images, png, or even (crossing my fingers) boot animations... PLEASE share with us!!!

doing a bootanim isnt hard... just VERY VERY VERY time consuming. I have tried in the past and just get frustrated lol.

Yah, I had forseen this much and have been reluctant to try because of this. Hence the post asking if anyone else had bled from their fingertips so I could enjoy the cool boot ani. Plus, I'm not a great artist, and if I wanted patience... I would've been a doctor. Keep it real, e-world!

Droid X type Boot animation

Ok, i've been searching around for the last hour in various places for a bootanimation i used to have on my Desire, as far as i can make out so far it's a mix between the Verizon Droid x advert and the Droid x red eye..........can't find it for love nor money, starts off with the human eye looking about, then morphs into the Droid eye looping. Anyone have it?

Well, i've got this one onto my phone, running LeeDrOiD rom (bootanimation in System/customize/resorce) , no idea if i have done it right, but it works......although there are a few frames that could do with a bit of work, some of the transition frames show lines form being different sized pictures originally. I have no photoshop skills at all and have no idea how i would go about adjusting these frames, struggling a little with the size as well, the red eye part is slightly stretched and no matter what i try when resizing the images i can't get it to look quite right.
Also, i tried to get the last set of frames from the original to loop, but when i tried doing this there was a noticable blank section before starting the loop, so i just renamed the frames again and again until it was just about long enough. Probably the completely wrong way of doing it but like i said...i know nothing!

try asking tattari for help, he is great with photoshop, and his team are all good devs.

I have managed to get it in proportion now, although it doesn't quite fill the whole screen but still looks good.
The only problem i see with it is with 5 images in the transition between human eye to robot eye, you can see the lines from the picture being a different size.
I have pm'd the lad who made the original to make sure he is ok with me trying to get it on my X, but looking from his profile he doesn't come on here anymore. (CYBERxNUKE)

Aroma installer works fine for /system/customize/resource, just need to check with other Bootanimation locations.

Why can't I manually copy the file? installer not needed I guess.where is the file that u want to test.I'll be glad to do it.

You could manually install it if you extract the bootanimation.zip, just trying to make it easier...i've Pm'd you the download link if you wish to try the installer. Also could you let me know if the delete bootsound option works?
Any feedback would be much appreciated.

L Bootanimation(FULL)

OK. So got the right one to work.
Download the .zip. Go to system/media and rename original bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.zip. Copy/paste the one you downloaded to system/media, change permissions to RW-R-R. Reboot and enjoy.

I thought it was kind of cool.
But due to it being made for android wear devices, I didn't care for how large the images appear.(resolution)
(ie: sun dial looking thing representing a watch/clock/time)
Definitely an alternative some folks may enjoy though, so thanks for sharing. :good:

It is large. I tried it after changing desc.txt to 1080*[email protected] instead of 1080*[email protected](is now) but just a soft glow black screen.

Yeah, I considered scaling them at one point by dropping them onto a larger canvas, but never did.
If there's interest in that, I could do it if I get some "bored" time. haha

LMFAO. You are definitely busy right now. I think there is always interest but I feel for some things they just need to be announced to the public by the right backers.
