Looking for little help, i'm trying to add the walking dead theme song as my bootup sound, i have it as a mp3 and convereted it to wav, but it still shows it as to big, is there a program anyone can suggest to shorten the audio file...also would like to get some walking dead bootup and shutdown animation if possible. anyone up for the challenge?
well i found this free program http://www.boxoft.com/wav-to-mp3/ so i solved the sound issue. any takers on a good walking dead boot animation?
This would definitely be awesome. Hope someone takes the challenge on.

I am a HUGE walking dead fan. I would definitely rock this if someone takes up the challenge.
Meanwhile I will be scouring youtube for something that seems bootup animation worthy

I'm a big fan of the show..I think if u can get the episode when Sofia comes out of the barn and add the a part of the theme would be killer...maybe even Daryl riding his brothers bike would be good two..check out some torrent sites for the show and edit what u need....I would help more but no comp
here is a boot animation i made and i will load the theme for the walking dead power on sound
boot animation
http://d-h.st/EEj
add to system folder then media
boot up sound

add to system folder then to etc
let me know what you think, i'm new to this and i think there ok but no where near perfect.
What's the word on compatibility? Should this work with CM9? If so I will flash and give you my opinion. I'm super stoked nonetheless, thanks for your work!

ok this is the swap method were you replace your bootanimation.zip , i used super manager from the market, then file explorer. then you copy the bootanimation from your sd card , then backup level folder then goto system folder then media, here you can add a 1 or something to the original bootanimation file then paste the new one, reboot and see what you think.......please do a backup prior to loading just incase there are any issues and you can easily go back to your original setup. message me if i can help any better or if i didnt explain it well.
OK I tryed the swap method right after I posted that last reply and well it bricked the phone sio I had to get my buddy over with his laptop cause I blue my comp up...but I would love to see this work but won't try again until I have a working comp..

i'm sorry you ran into problems , i wish someone smarter than me with this would take over this page and get us a really good walking dead theme. i know there is a interest because my downloads show tons of people downloading these files, also wish they would post comments or a interest in this project so one of the great themers would knock this one out the box!!! travismoreno cough cough

I'm interested in it, unfortunately, I don't have /system root access (using CleanGB, but for some reason, it won't let me copy the files there). Am definitely monitoring this thread.
I've been a silent observer on this thread anticipating progress. My wife already has walking dead wallpaper, ringtone, and notification sounds from Zedge. Boot animation would be awesome!

The other day I read that awesome Tut on how to create a Boot Animation by kusotare [link] because of this I started creating a few animations. While doing this I would test them out by flashing them, I did not like this so I created an applet that will basically animate them for you... Its pretty simple code, I am sure anyone on here could do it(and im sure some one has) but I figured I would share it with anyone who wanted it.
All you have to do is extract the .zip into a folder, and when you want to test your animations drop 'android-logo-mask.png' and 'android-logo-shine.png' into the folder. After you put them into the folder, open(double click) 'BootAnimationTest.htm'. This will open up your browser and show you the animation.
Requirements:
-This requires that you have the JRE installed
-'android-logo-mask.png' should be 256x480(Other sizes will work, but the app will resize them)
-'android-logo-shine.png' should be 512x480(Other sizes will work, but the app will resize them)
If you want, until I make it fix it automatically you can
find dimensions of android-logo-mask.png n put those values in BootAnimationTest.htm
Click to collapse
Future:
-In the future I plan to make it were it doesnt matter what size your images are.
-Turn this into a full fledged theme tester!
Feature Request: If you have an idea that you want me to add to this let me know, and most likely I will do so.
Just added a Video!
Change Log:
V 1.02:
-Added buttons that increase/decrease the speed of the shine

Awesome, I will have it where it does it automatically though, among other things... I also think I may turn it into a Jar and have it launch in its own window.
Edit - those red dots, are actualy my name... what happened is that you resized it, so it shrunk the applet.

Yea, thats why I made it, I got tired of having to flash over and over to test mine.
Thanks for the kudos on my tutorial. I had a tough time doing it my first time around, and after six or seven hundred of my friends with G1s asked me how i did it, I finally broke down and did the tutorial.
On the other hand, I absolutely love what you've done with the applet. That will certainly make it easier for people to come up with something they'll really like instead of having to tweak-and-flash as most of us have been doing for ages. Excellent work!

hey, the tutorial didnt take me much longer, so dont feel too bad. the longest damn part of it was writing the script for the video down so i could read it back into the mic!
by the way, i added a link to the first post here into the tutorial post. you really did hit a keystone here thats gonna help people. cheers!
How do you guys feel about the speed of the shine? I think I will add a button that will let you make it faster or slower
Helpful, fast and time saving tool...
This is really a great and helpful tool. Its a must have on the utility belt of all theme-er's.
Excellent work...
This is an awesome tool, it'll help me cut down on wearing out my NAND flashing theme updates over and over just to test the boot screen. Thanks a lot!
Edit: Just tried it out on one of my old non used boot animations I had, the 'animation' scroll should be faster in my opinion. I remember seeing it speeding by at least 2x the speed as the applet does it. BUT the buttons to increase/decrese speed would be ideal. Some people may prefer it slower, some fast.
Again great job on this, you saved a lot of trouble!

Is that possible? IF you're able to do that, you'll hear a lot of "I LOVE YOU"s from theme makers, especially me.
I understand it would be a 'rough draft' sort of thing considering the .9.png and such but really just to see everything 'together' before flashing it would be a welcome change than what we can do now.

Yea, I don't think it would be hard at all... It will just take me a while.
Edit - Ok, so I just posted the new build. This build just added the speed buttons. By the end of the week I hope to have a build that is a full theme tester up. I also think that later on down the road I will make this into a JFrame instead of an applet. Also, what is the deal with the .9.png?
Ok I have been messing with themes, and its coming together good. Its going to take me a while because I have school though.

.9.png are images that Android resizes to work in any situation. like the buttons. sometimes they are small sometimes they take up the whole screen. you have to sign them in eclipse for them to work right. check out this thread for a more detailed description of them and what it takes to get them working properly.
if you do make a theme tester I will have kids just so i can name them Burlyskink.
For theme and boot testing...did anybody see the news story about running an emulated Android os (complete with G1 skin) on a Windows PC?
It looks just like a brand new fresh stock G1 and it works. I wonder if that could test out themese and mods?

Are you talking about the standard emulator that comes with the official Android SDK?
Hey folks, I was told there was a thread with bootanimations for the GB ROMs located in here and I can't find it to save my life. Yes I've tried search but it just isn't giving me squat. I just need a pointer.
I'm not a noob by any means and usually have no problems finding what I need but this is driving me nuts. Please don't blast.
There are bootanimations all through here that should work for you. What rom are you running and what kind of animation you looking for, that will help someone give you a better idea where to start.

I haven't found a single one. Maybe I didn't go deep enough or something. I'm running a blue themed version of MikG 1.03 that someone has been kind enough to let me test so I would say MikG 1.03.
Before running this I was running King Cocoa with a blue honeycomb animation that I was quite fond of but I tend to change around a lot when I get free time. I would like to find as wide of a variety that I can just to keep in my library for those FLASH ATTACK days, lol.
I'm gonna keep looking but if anyone comes across one in the meantime and could send me the link, it would be very much appreciated.
so your just looking to collect some animations for later or your have a hard time finding some to flash to that rom(in recovery)?
none in the splash and animation collect thread appeal to you? any certain kind you like.

I'm not a noob, I have practically all of the animations prior to the GB update, flashable and others. I was told those bootanimations will NOT work with the new ROMs. I looked through root explorer and couldn't find the animation file anywhere which leads me to believe this to be true. I was told to look in the Themes and Apps forum and there was a thread with some new ones.
If not, most of my animations you had to replace the existing one in system with root explorer. So how would I go about changing it because the file doesn't go into the same place.
sorry if i implied that. in that rom did you look in data\syscustomize\resource and i think the bootanime is called SPC_bootanimaton.zip and i think you can replace with root explorer same as before. as for a thread for just gb animations i dont remember seeing one just for that.

No worries, I see where you're talking about. Now one question , can you use the older animations and just name them as they are in that folder. ? Will they still work?
I just realized that the folder you're talking about is where it has always been, you just took another route to get to it. You can also go through system/customize/resource, same thing. That's the way I always took to replace them before. So they just started renaming the file then.
I'd really like to know if the older files, renamed to spc_bootanimation.zip, would work. I'm going to be changing roms either tonight or tomorrow so maybe, before I do, I will try it and see what happens.
yes the should work just fine. just make sure it is named exactly as they have it. for example "SPC_bootanimation.zip"(or whatever rom your using has it named as)with caps and underscore. hope that helps
This is just a bootanimation I made for myself, but then I thought others might like it. Also thought it was about time I make my first post
I tried to replicate the boot screen at the start of Sonic the Hedgehog. I've attached the bootanimation.zip and the PSD in case you want to make your own changes to it, as it is far from perfect.
Looks good for a first try. Too bad Samsung and Google haven't seen fit to let us know about enabling boot sounds, because this is crying out for someone saying "ANDROID" in the same style as they did on the Genesis boot.

Sorry for the thread from the dead, but I've got some pertinent information...
I'm running BAMF, and it supports boot sounds. I've only come across one person even attempting to take advantage of this, however. If you read forward in that thread, you can see that I flashed his Xbox boot animation CWM script and verified that it did indeed have sound. The technology is out there, now we just have to take hold and put it to good use...
Ok, i've been searching around for the last hour in various places for a bootanimation i used to have on my Desire, as far as i can make out so far it's a mix between the Verizon Droid x advert and the Droid x red eye..........can't find it for love nor money, starts off with the human eye looking about, then morphs into the Droid eye looping. Anyone have it?
this is part of it.

Which then went into this sort of thing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7D5nsVn9XM
And just realised i should have put this in the Q & A section!
this looks cool i want it as well!
I can't find it for the life of me, restored my laptop since i had it, and not got my Desire anymore........tried trawling on here and Phandroid forum but can't locate it.
Ok, i've eventually stumbled across the animation i had,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=774180
Just need to figure out WTF i have to do with it to get it onto the X
Please do as i also liked this very much
Well, i've got this one onto my phone, running LeeDrOiD rom (bootanimation in System/customize/resorce) , no idea if i have done it right, but it works......although there are a few frames that could do with a bit of work, some of the transition frames show lines form being different sized pictures originally. I have no photoshop skills at all and have no idea how i would go about adjusting these frames, struggling a little with the size as well, the red eye part is slightly stretched and no matter what i try when resizing the images i can't get it to look quite right.
Also, i tried to get the last set of frames from the original to loop, but when i tried doing this there was a noticable blank section before starting the loop, so i just renamed the frames again and again until it was just about long enough. Probably the completely wrong way of doing it but like i said...i know nothing!
try asking tattari for help, he is great with photoshop, and his team are all good devs.
Thanks, i'll send him a pm and see if he can offer any advice/help.
I have managed to get it in proportion now, although it doesn't quite fill the whole screen but still looks good.
The only problem i see with it is with 5 images in the transition between human eye to robot eye, you can see the lines from the picture being a different size.
I have pm'd the lad who made the original to make sure he is ok with me trying to get it on my X, but looking from his profile he doesn't come on here anymore. (CYBERxNUKE)
Almost got this ready, will be available soon.
Need someone to test this who has bootanimation in /data/local
Aroma installer works fine for /system/customize/resource, just need to check with other Bootanimation locations.
Why can't I manually copy the file? installer not needed I guess.where is the file that u want to test.I'll be glad to do it.

This is just a bootsplash, however, I had started to work on one using screen caps from the Grateful Dead Movie, but I never really got it finished up. I originally developed this splash and the animation for my old HTC Inspire 4G, so I'll need to do some resizing/reworking to make it compatible with the SGS3.
Previously, I was using a tool called Boot Animation Factory (see this post) which made the process super simple, but I'll have to do some research into the process for SGS3.
I'd love to see what you've got. Get it flashable and I'll give it a spin!
Ill get that converted over and post it probably tomorrow.
Edit: Bad things. My wifes sd card is 99% dead. The bad kind. Know any tricks for recovering data? While you're thinking, I've heard just about all of them done 50 different ways, but this is my all time favorite.(I'm not starting an off topic here, just what Jerry would have wanted me to do. Share!) Sorry for mp3. Lost the original show.
