[Q] How to add full RUSSIAN localisation in BLAZN Version ? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Android Development

Hello to all xandroid community.
I have two questions about BLAZN 2.2 Release for HTC Touch Pro 2 / Rhodium
1. In Reference Version are more as 20 different Languages and localizations but in BLAZN version just 5 (EN DE FR IT SPA). How can I add a whole Russian localization incl. Keyboard / Dictionary / UI ?
I tried "More local 2" from Market, but there is still no Russian UI / Keyboard and some other Settings. In Russian are just a couple things, but not like under Reference version.
Can I just copy some files with extra localizations from Reference Version into BLAZN ? If YES, then how ?
2. How can I make a phonetic / translit Russian layout for my Hardware keyboard such as in WinMo ?
I thank all of you for support

I don't know much about the first as I've never used BLAZN. As far as the second is concerned, Google's documentation may be found here. Pretty much any character with a UTF-8 representation may be mapped to a key or key combination in the keymap. Judging from your post to another thread I take it you have the German version of the Rhodium 100. Am I correct? If so, you may find the thread on the German Keyboard Layout illuminating since it contains quite a bit of useful advice on editing it..

Thanks for that tip, but I'm more concerned about having full Russian localization.
I don't know where these localezation files might be... Maybe If I had the local settings like in Reference version, I wouldn't need hardware keyboard at all, cuz in Reference you can add second keyboard layout to SW-keyboard.

What about a french release ?

Hi, and first of all, as I said in a previous thread, thanks for this marvelous release !
I'm french and if I can work in english, it is more comfortable for me to use a frech interface So, does someone want to work on a french release ? My contribution can be the translation for all texts you would submit.
Anyone interested ?
+1
Hi,
I agree, I love WM6, english doesn't bother me nevertheless a french version would be cool.
I use lvsw's and it works great with SFR in France (radio 1.35.00.11 catches UMTS nicely, the voicemail icon works etc...)
Can someone estimate the time it would take to cover all files to translate ?
Would be quite interested too. Having to wait for the official release of WM5 (to have a security backup) or even the WM6 French edition (apparently Q2 2007 as for HTC France) is too bothersome
But I think translating everything would be also a pain in the a..please wait 2 seconds for an uncompressed image
I made a small cab which at least change the input settings and spell check into french. The ROM stays in English of course.
More info here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297222
Virtual keyboard layout dll
I've seen that virtual keyboard layout is based on two dlls... Does someone have those ?
French Kbd Layout
Hi all,
Cool that this thread leveraged some interest
Based on everyday use of both french and english layout, I think it could be smart to create an hybrid layout, mix of azerty and qwerty, ie :
- Use azerty 1st row accents but invert shift behavior to have digits without shift
- same thing for commonly used characters like @ ' to also get them without shifting (1 click instead of 2)
What do you think ?

have a look and see if its what you need
Heb for Dia
You can buy Bi Directional Heb lang support from either:
http://www.pocketpc.co.il ("official" Dia Heb Support with localized original SIP)
http://www.wince.co/il (generic Heb Support for WinMobile 6.1)
http://www.paragon.com (generic Heb Support - basic version)
No free rides as it is not only about adding a font, but also implementing a RTL engine, actually a Bi-Di one to allow RTL/LTR.
If you don't mind reading "mirror" just copy Tahoma.ttf from Windows to PPC Windows Fonts Dir.
This kind of covers all alternatives available..

sorry m8, this time you missed. the post is irrelevant to what our poster needs we are blessed with a language that not only has a very, very strange fonts and alphabet (no vocals, for example) but it also written from right to left. ( i can imagine you going...). supporting the hebrew alphabet/fonts it is not enough

Is this suitable for someone (such as myself) who needs only to read emails and SMS in Hebrew. Would prefer all OS menus and other functions in WWE and L -> R format.

well, if you just wanna read and write sms, and you dont care the hebrew being reversed (םכל םולש), then just copy tahoma.ttf from c:\windows\fonts\ on your pc to \windows\ on your ppc, and save the 250 and the slow down of a hebrew supporting device.

that didn't work for me.. and btw the PDAC thingi needed a license..
so anyway. if someone has a good solution for just getting the support of hebrew, I'll be more then thankfull.
-iris-
I thank you very much for the quick fix with tahoma. However, what I think is quite strange is that only some of the fonts are displayed correctly while others remain as cubes (I mean on the same website, like ynet or haaretz) . (and strange enough the direction is OK!). So is there a fix for that? Do I maybe have to change something in the registry? My Device is Xperia, with WM6.1.
Any help is much appreciated!
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=469061&highlight=alex+hebrew
At first I bought the PDAC version, and I was disapointed that it really slowed down my diamond. I also need Hebrew support only for reading sms, emails, and maybe some web browsing to hebrew websites.
In the link is a hebrew version that does exactly that. It even has a hebrew keyboard built into the diamond SIP changer (you pick Italian and it changes to the Hebrew keyboard)
Check it out.

Hebrew Support for native HD Keyboard

Hi,
I've done some work on the keyboard cab available on the diamond forum and adapted it to the touch HD.
I've also addressed some issues that the diamond version suffers from.
Here's a list of what's been done:
Version 1.00:
- Graphics for Compact Qwerty & Phone Keypad have been recreated to accomodate the HD
- Landscape mode integrated into the cab
- Fixed kdb files for Full Qwerty, Compact Qwerty and Phone Pad
- Hebrew doesn't replace Italian anymore! Instead, it is added above Italian
- Hebrew-related files and registry keys are named properly with the correct codes and names and according to the convention in other language-related files.
- T9 works partially. It will learn the words you use and will suggest according to that. Unfortunately I couldn't find a compatible t9 dictionary (and believe me I tried!)
Installation instructions:
1. Download the attached CAB
2. Copy to your memory card via ActiveSync
3. IMPORTANT: Using Schap's Advanced Task Manager (or any other capable program), kill the process SIPGT_app.exe
4. Run the CAB
5. Soft reset
I've tested this with a UK 1.14 ROM and the free hebrew support.
I do not recommend installing this alongside Eyron (didn't try) as it also attempts to modify the native keyboard and would probably conflict.
Congratulations you have a (almost) native HD hebrew keyboard!
For tactile feedback (ala Eyron) I recommend installing snailslug's great TouchResponse (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=450256) you can configure it to work only when the keyboard is open and the stylus is in and it provides very good feel without slowing down the device.
On the T9 front, I'd be happy if anyone could help me out. If you could get me some hebrew ldb dictionary files from ANY phone with T9 it might help me decipher this evil proprietary format.
I'd like to thank Alex for the original diamond cab and also nir36 and everyone who contributed to the development of the free hebrew support.
(Note that the attached cab is provided as is and I take no responsibility in case your device bursts into flames.)
Cheers!
Thanks!
how do you change from hebrew to english? there is an option to do it with the ABC->T9 button? I'm using the txt files from Eyron mui.cab to replace the Italian in my device but it seems to have some kind of bug when i'm replacing it from english to hebrew - the kbd will stuck for 5 minutes every time! and there is no half qwerty or phone pad option...
I'll try your version soon and will report back to you.
Good job!
I'll try it out today and let you know how it works.
tnx very much !!!!

Hi. just checked your files - great work!
I used to extract the files from Eyron cabs and use them on my device, but it was good only for the full qwerty - and it replaced the Italian on my device, your solution is much better.
and now - for the T9 thing - it works only in half qwerty and phone pad modes, not in the full qwerty mode.
any way - great work. you made a great solution for the free-hebrew community
*Big* thanks. Works perfectly!

No there isn't. It's impossible to implement. the only way to switch languages with ezinput is through the menu..

Touch Pro2 Hardware keyboard

HI,
I just got my Touch Pro2 today, and noticed it has UK keyboard. Question is, does someone know how to change that layout eg. norwegian (I have cab for TyTN2, but I think it's not working because Tytn2 has only 4 row keyboard).
Is there some registry keys to change, or something else?

Sometimes just changing your region (settings ==> system ==> regional)
changes the layout.

Not wnough, tried already. In Registry lang code was 1033, I tried 1044 but still same.
Hi,
You can add a new keyboard layout file to your device windows folder, and change a specific "KeyboardlayoutFiles" registry value to point to that new file.
I made a small cab file which adds Ä and Ö characters behind A and O buttons. Simply use FN+A and FN+O after this cab installed and soft reset done.
Note, I tested this installation file with my own TP2 and worked fine, but I'm not "Pro" with WinMo cab development so please test the package at your own risk

I actually already got those characters by editing WWE file. I discovered from other forum, that keyboard setting works little different way than in TyTNII.
HiFi - Hi - I have the same problem as you, I too live in Norway, and have been looking for Norwegian.
So far, I've found a way to get norwegian spellcheck/XT9 wordlist, from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3304868&postcount=5
Installing it adds Norwegian to the list, it is not lister properly in the list, so after7if you choose another language, you leed to reinstall the cab to get Norwegian back.
Still - I am looking for a solution for the soft, and hard keyboard - how far are you from achieving your goal ?
For me it was enought to get ä,ö (and å) to hardware keyboard. I don't use software keyboard so much, that I need those in that. And T9 seemed to learn words quite quicly, so I can use that to get right words if for some reason I'm not using hardware keyboard.
Ok.
Anyone here knows that the HTC soft-keybaord uses for sumbol-list ?
they do not use the commonly used file sym.0409.txt , at least the HTC spacial characters appears in different order than the sym.0409.txt file.
I'd like to rearrange some of the special characters.

Free Hebrew support for TP2

Did anyone find a Hebrew support package that works on the Touch Pro2?
I tried Eyron, PDAC, Paragon (LEng) and badnimits but non of them seems to work

OK, We have a winner !!! OSM is the man
After HR. I installed:
1) OSM Hebrew package
2) AEKMap for with the updated TP2 Hebrew layout for hardware keyboard support
3) Finger Keyb for Hebrew soft keyboard support
Almost everything is working great & the device response is hardly effected.
Two things I have noticed:
1) Known issue - Opera is showing Hebrew LTR
2) In text messages I receive sometimes digits are displayed in Arabic I guess this is font dependent
didn't get it, if you're looking for FREE hebrew - why check out eyron & pdac!?

Its not so much the "free" as finding a light Hebrew support.
Coming from the TYTN with its challenging memory configuration finding a light Hebrew support made HUGE difference.
Today even though the TP2 has much more memory I don't see a reason waisting it on something as basic as reading and writing in Hebrew.
ok, here we go... i'll try my best:
go to
HKLM/software/Tegic/eT9/XT9suportMSSip and change the value to 0
then, hop over to:
HKLM/system/currentcontrolset/control === here you need to change 2 values:
the first: layouts/e0010409/imefile change the value there to windows/compime.dll
the second: layouts text change the value there to COMP IME
reset and you're ready to go !
all credit to harvey from pocketpcfreak forum
hope all is clear...

OK, I installed it, it looked good at first, and is OK in general, BUT:

also tried - i can confirm all of the above.
also - if you have the regional settings set to hebrew the eyron will not let any .net cf based apps work ! you must change to english.
btw- p.d.a.c have released a .cab file to fix the "fun" button problem with the hardware keyboard.
in short, seems the free hebrew support is better than the rest but does anyone know of fixes for the mentioned problems ? i.e opera ltr & arabic fonts instead of digits ?
