What about a french release ? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam ROM Development

Hi, and first of all, as I said in a previous thread, thanks for this marvelous release !
I'm french and if I can work in english, it is more comfortable for me to use a frech interface So, does someone want to work on a french release ? My contribution can be the translation for all texts you would submit.
Anyone interested ?

+1
Hi,
I agree, I love WM6, english doesn't bother me nevertheless a french version would be cool.
I use lvsw's and it works great with SFR in France (radio 1.35.00.11 catches UMTS nicely, the voicemail icon works etc...)
Can someone estimate the time it would take to cover all files to translate ?

Would be quite interested too. Having to wait for the official release of WM5 (to have a security backup) or even the WM6 French edition (apparently Q2 2007 as for HTC France) is too bothersome
But I think translating everything would be also a pain in the a..please wait 2 seconds for an uncompressed image

I made a small cab which at least change the input settings and spell check into french. The ROM stays in English of course.

Virtual keyboard layout dll
I've seen that virtual keyboard layout is based on two dlls... Does someone have those ?

French Kbd Layout
Hi all,
Cool that this thread leveraged some interest
Based on everyday use of both french and english layout, I think it could be smart to create an hybrid layout, mix of azerty and qwerty, ie :
- Use azerty 1st row accents but invert shift behavior to have digits without shift
- same thing for commonly used characters like @ ' to also get them without shifting (1 click instead of 2)
What do you think ?

keyboard layout / accented characters

I'd like to buy a Qtek 9090.
I'm a french speaker, but I'm completely lost when the user interface has been translated. English is much more comfortable for me.
To be able to enter french characters, it was obvious to me that I needed the french version. Until I saw the AZERTY keyboard, with its unique accent key.
Does the english version have the 'accent key' too ?
If yes, do you see any reason for me to choose a french version ?
Mine has qwerty , without accent but with pound sign
I bouht it in holland (I'm belgian but hate azerty)
a good reason to buy english version is the value when you sell it in a couple of years. (you can't just flash another language cos the keyboard won't fo;;ow)
what's the key located at the left of the space bar ?
how do you enter characters like é ç à (with your hard keyboard) ?
btw i'm belgian too.
Hi guys,
I have the same problem, qtek 9090 received from work but in french !
I'd like to cook the rom to WWE but the hardware keyboard is the only problem...
For the moment, i didnt find a solution to remap or replace the keyboard. Maybe Qtek could provide it as a spare part...

Changing the keyboard layout

Hi everyone!
Many people out there from all over the world have upgraded their Artemis to Windows Mobile 6, thanks to people who are working hard on cooking nice ROMs for us. These people are used to a specific keyboard layout, many languages are using special characters too.
It would be nice to have a way to change the keyboard layout : something like easy installing CABs or a how to on what to change in the registry, what to remove on the storage, or whatever way to have our own keyboard on theses WWE ROMs.
Is it possible?

Hi Romano2k,
The only thing that i have found was this regkey:
http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Windows_Mobile_5_Registry_Tweaks
But afaik does this regkey only work for the 'hard-keyboard' and not for the software-keyboard, so this answer won't help you a lot...
On my P3300 nothing changed with these keys and nothing happend when i changed the keys in 'HKCU\Keyboard Layout' In another forum i found a thread and they are saying you need a third-party software to change the software-keyboard...but for me it's no problem to use the english keyboard...but french keyboards are much stranger (i think french keyboard are the strangest keyboards that exists) and so i can understand your problem
Cheers
Peter
Love your reply's title
I agree with you, the french keyboard is strange, I wish they were only DVORAK keyboards all over the world! But I need my "é" "à" and so on... I'm sure there's a way to change the software keyboard!
Vive LA France
As far as I know it's a dll file that you would have to change. Never tried in WM6 to replace it, in WM 2003 it wasn't possible. Resco Keyboard would be an alternative if you don't want to try to change the layout yourself.
ups...
My french isn't that well....long time ago since school
I found a cab for the german keyboard, maybe you will find out more when you take a look inside this cab ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321236
Found French Keyboard ?
Heya,
maybe this could help you ? No idea if it works because i'm from Liechtenstein and i don't need a french keyboard

And for us in Greece?
Hi all,
Is there any way to change the keybord to contain Greek characters???

ROM question: how to add a language? (please help)

I've got my HTC Touch pro2 early, by not waiting for Norwegian release date (4 july).
The touchflo is english, and I like it that way.
The keyboard layout does not include norwegain "æøå" letters.
The spellcheck/XT9 lists I already have are: English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
I would like to have "Norwegian"
where are the settings/files i need to add, in order to fix this ?

Might be worth having a look in the blackstone forum for their language packs and just try it on the TouchPro2, should work in theory.
I tried to change my hw keyboard layout and I have been able to have "è" and "ù", no way to have "ì", "ò", "à": keys simply do not work at all...
As far as software keyboard is concerned, I believe that you should change sip.
nicelad_uk : thanks - I assume you mean this post ?

I installed Norwegian language, and it works becuase it's auto-selected, but does not show in the language selection list so after choosing English, I must reinstall it if I want it back.
It's a spellcheck and XT9 list, it does not influence the soft-keyboard layout, or the kayboards special characters list.

I mean to change software keyboard , using something like EZinput 2.0 or similar
Solution for Norwegianhardware Keyboard on HTC Touch Pro2 is here:

It's best to Get in there early as a Moderation Team.
For now it's best to keep These kind of Using Questions in the General Forum.

Free Hebrew support for TP2

Did anyone find a Hebrew support package that works on the Touch Pro2?
I tried Eyron, PDAC, Paragon (LEng) and badnimits but non of them seems to work
With all of them I tried the basic support without UI translation but still no luck.
also looking...
for the hebrew support
Same, Need help =D...
Rbroudo and Coneman23.
add me at MSN
[email protected]
let's try and sort things out together...
OK, We have a winner !!! OSM is the man
After HR. I installed:
1) OSM Hebrew package
2) AEKMap for with the updated TP2 Hebrew layout for hardware keyboard support
3) Finger Keyb for Hebrew soft keyboard support
Almost everything is working great & the device response is hardly effected.
Two things I have noticed:
1) Known issue - Opera is showing Hebrew LTR
2) In text messages I receive sometimes digits are displayed in Arabic I guess this is font dependent
didn't get it, if you're looking for FREE hebrew - why check out eyron & pdac!?
anyway, I tried the PDAC with the registry changes I directed you to before at pocketpcfreak - and it WORKS !
second, just TODAY i recieved an email fro EYRON's support saying that you can download a trial version of hebrew FOR TP2 from their site.
wanna try it out ?
Yep why not

Its not so much the "free" as finding a light Hebrew support.
Coming from the TYTN with its challenging memory configuration finding a light Hebrew support made HUGE difference.
Today even though the TP2 has much more memory I don't see a reason waisting it on something as basic as reading and writing in Hebrew.
ok, here we go... i'll try my best:
go to
HKLM/software/Tegic/eT9/XT9suportMSSip and change the value to 0
then, hop over to:
HKLM/system/currentcontrolset/control === here you need to change 2 values:
the first: layouts/e0010409/imefile change the value there to windows/compime.dll
the second: layouts text change the value there to COMP IME
reset and you're ready to go !
all credit to harvey from pocketpcfreak forum
hope all is clear...
I didn't find any TP2 version on Eyron's site.
And TBH, I dont give a **** ^^..
The free hebrew package that is offered above in this thread is way better, doesnt slow down your device, and is compatible with everything

NOW, about the hebrew above a few questions:
any bugs ? (opera etc.)
any extras ? (hebrew manila ? hebrew contacts scroll bar ?)
what's the difference in memory consumption ?

Eyron Hebrew for TP2
OK, I installed it, it looked good at first, and is OK in general, BUT:
Caps shift/lock is disabled on hardware keyboard for english typing, and the cursor is a few spaces away from the place that it should be located when typing an email (again in english).
Now for people that don't use english a whole lot, these problems may not matter that much, but for me they do...

also tried - i can confirm all of the above.
also - if you have the regional settings set to hebrew the eyron will not let any .net cf based apps work ! you must change to english.
btw- p.d.a.c have released a .cab file to fix the "fun" button problem with the hardware keyboard.
in short, seems the free hebrew support is better than the rest but does anyone know of fixes for the mentioned problems ? i.e opera ltr & arabic fonts instead of digits ?
Good for start...

[Q] How to add full RUSSIAN localisation in BLAZN Version ?

Hello to all xandroid community.
I have two questions about BLAZN 2.2 Release for HTC Touch Pro 2 / Rhodium
1. In Reference Version are more as 20 different Languages and localizations but in BLAZN version just 5 (EN DE FR IT SPA). How can I add a whole Russian localization incl. Keyboard / Dictionary / UI ?
I tried "More local 2" from Market, but there is still no Russian UI / Keyboard and some other Settings. In Russian are just a couple things, but not like under Reference version.
Can I just copy some files with extra localizations from Reference Version into BLAZN ? If YES, then how ?
2. How can I make a phonetic / translit Russian layout for my Hardware keyboard such as in WinMo ?
I thank all of you for support

I don't know much about the first as I've never used BLAZN. As far as the second is concerned, Google's documentation may be found here. Pretty much any character with a UTF-8 representation may be mapped to a key or key combination in the keymap. Judging from your post to another thread I take it you have the German version of the Rhodium 100. Am I correct? If so, you may find the thread on the German Keyboard Layout illuminating since it contains quite a bit of useful advice on editing it..

Thanks for that tip, but I'm more concerned about having full Russian localization.
I don't know where these localezation files might be... Maybe If I had the local settings like in Reference version, I wouldn't need hardware keyboard at all, cuz in Reference you can add second keyboard layout to SW-keyboard.
