E/Kineto failure to connect error on logcat - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not sure what this is but am getting this an various other Kineto (wifi calling) errors.
Am on a non rooted OTA build. Even reset phone to factory settings and reran logcat.
Any help would be appreciated.
Final note have never even fired up wifi calling since factory reset.

Any help would be appreciated. Have a few days left in remorse period and if this ends up being a hardware issue I would like to be able to find out before it ends.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App

ok, obviously nobody has any idea what the hell is going on or are too busy answering the 15th thread asking the same questions about how to root a phone. So, can anyone else at least run a log and see if they too are getting errors from E/Kineto
Would be a BIG help

Yup. Getting the same errors.

I'm getting the same error. It makes it really annoying to develop on this device.

Please help. Frozen clock and can't send text messages

My sprint gnex is rooted and I am running JBSourcery4.5. About a week ago I noticed that the clock across the top of the screen stopped and not being able to send or receive text messages when this happens. Hard and soft resets help but only for a short period of time. I thought that it might be the rom so I switched to PARANOIDANDROID 3.0 and had the same problem. I've searched all around for a solution and I saw something about turning off my wifi and that's seems to correct the problem but I'd much rather us wifi if it's available. Please help
Are those two roms using the same kernel? Also, did you wipe caches? Maybe try a superwipe..
Thank you so much! I changed my kernel and it's been working great ever since!!!!

Data ALWAYS gets stuck on custom roms

I've looked around the forums and maybe I missed something but I couldn't find a solution to this so I apologize if this has already been covered in another thread. Every time I'm on a Rom my 3g/4G data gets stuck way too much where nothing would load (Play Store, browser, Facebook app, etc..) and a temporary solution would be to reboot and most of the time it works but sometimes doesn't help at all. Regardless of the outcome the same issue occurs eventually in a matter of minutes. Every troubleshooting step I've tried has failed. Why does this happen? Is there a reliable solution to fixing these sort of data issues? Please help anyone.

Are you using a prepaid plan? Whenever I flash a new ROM, it does not restore my APN settings. If you're using something like Straight Talk, this information has to be re-entered each time.
No I'm not. I'm on that truly unlimited plan so I am on contract. The modem method does not work for me cuz I've tried flashing every single modem, including the new one but I still get the same data getting stuck issue.. Any other suggestions please?

OGP Keeps automatically enabling location settings

I have no idea what the deal is with this phone right now and its destroying my battery life. I have done everything I know to do with no avail. My phone is CONSTANTLY searching for GPS satellites. If I disable my location settings, they automatically turn back on and resume searching for satellites. Has anyone had this happen? I've done everything but a factory reset.
let me guess, you cant disable data connection too?

Damn.... noticed earlier today it was doing that and looked for anything that could have turned it on. Never thought about the phone app. I ended up restarting my phone. Just dialed a number as a test and sure enough... the gps icon popped up. At least this time it quit on its own...
But why would the gps turn on when I make a phone call?
I seem to remember an updated privacy notification coming in the mail from AT&T a week or so ago. In it i believe there was mention of sharing "anonymous call location data." I think maybe I'll dig up that piece of mail and follow the instructions to "opt out."
Think I'm gonna test this by making a call from one of my kid's lines.

Good to know i'm not the only one. Its a shame because it wasn't doing it last week and now since I work in a metal building with already poor reception, its just shredding my battery life.
I feel sure that I have all apps that request location turned off. This is unrelated to my dialer app, as I only make one or two phone calls in a day.
Root and factory data reset seems to have resolved this for now. Still trying to figure out a cause.

Mine does it when I make or receive a call. If it can't get a gps lock then it keeps re-trying.
I think at&t pushed something to the phone that started it doing this and I need it to stop.

Just posted another thread about this and didn't even see this one.. I have the same problem that started arising around 4:30pm yesterday (EDT) and it's been really p*ssing me off!! As of today, it's not consistently turning on as it was yesterday but it for sure it turning on every time there is a phone call or a text message.
Was there any sort of update anyone is aware of? Maybe a system app was updated and caused this problem like this shows

So I realized that I recently turned OFF the wifi & mobile networks option inside of the Location settings a few days ago. I turned that back on and it does NOT do it any longer.
I also got on a chat with at&t tech support. He states they didnt have any other reports of this issue and nothing released recently should do this. He also mentioned that E911 uses the gps for location when you call 911. (I knew this.)
In any event, I asked him to open a case with engineering because I don't want it to kill my battery if I make or take a call while in a bldg.
Anyone seeing this should contact customer support to file a "complaint" so it is logged and gets attention.
Anyone seen this on another phone that may be in use in their house?

Thanks for the tip.
This just hit me mid week too, I'm trying the above solution.
One piece exists!
Carrieriq people! I don't know much about these phones, but have been learning slowly. I have the same issue, however I discovered carrieriq wake lock last week, and it makes me want to change to Verizon. Now I'm not sure, but I have that wake lock while the GPS is tweaking out. So I'm guessing that's what it is. I had to register just to post this, and I wish there was a way to get rid of it. I live in a Grey area, and prefer not to have all my calls and texts stored in a server for 60 days or whatever they claim to store the Information.
Same issue started 2 days back. Hope to find any resolution

Damn carrierIQ... you are absolutely right. Installed one of those checker apps and its on there. (One of the downsides to not having a custom ROM.) But to have it really fire up like this, they must have flipped the switch on gathering "anonymous call location data" as was mentioned in a recent update to the privacy policy.
Installed Logging TestApp from an xda member ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17612559&postcount=110) and then the $1 key from the app store. Went thru the removal process and it no longer kicks on when I make a call.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only person experiencing this. Makes me feel better about the situation. Carrieriq has apparently been around for quote some time, however I hadn't heard of it because I was on am extended vacation. When I found out about it last week or whenever it was I did a lot of research on it. But a couple days ago when my GPS kept turning on out of nowhere while I had it off I got paranoid, and was scared they had me under investigation or something. If anyone else tries reggae Smith suggestion and is able to get rid of carrieriq. On this phone please post and let us know. I'm sure most of us out there don't want AT&T saving our texts and call history. Your browser history, and all that. Its a key logger that saves EVERYTHING that you do on your phone. At least that's my grasp on it. I'm wondering if getting rid of it the way reggie did even really delete it though. Is it possible to even get rid of it without flashing a custom room? Just because we may be able to get some peace of mind by not seeing the wake lock, is it really gone? I have only had Android for about 3 months, and managed to work from a atrix 2, to having 2 s3, one with severe wake lock issues. Drain my whole zero lemon battery overnight, to this ogp, which I dig. So this phone works great and one day carrier iq for 13 hours one day, so my friend Google gave me some insight, and bam, here we are. I have so many questions, but the capcha or whatever from my phone is irritating, so I will refrain from asking so many questions in different threads, that people will think I'm spamming. In the words of the great William currington "God is great, beer is good, and *****es are crazy!"
Anybody found any solution for this? There were some Google app updates hangout search may be forcing

I can confirm that this 1 dollar app has fixed the problem on my phone as well. E980.
Before trying that i tried to manually remove it, i was able to find two library files @ "/system/lib/" 1 - libiq_client.so && 2 - libiq_service.so
However I was unable to find the associated binary. I found a service lost the name. I installed cwm recovery, and then attempted to remove the library's at the risk of bricking, to invoke a app crash log and figure out where this :crying: binary was located. I added .bak to the end of the library names, and rebooted. I was greeted with a nice message "The android system has stopped working.", when I got to the homescreen, and then again when I attempted to make a call. But the phone worked fine and gps did not kick attempt to search. So I went and integrated the kernel logs and it showed android.iqd as the module that crashed, and an associated service. I couldn't find a full path to the binary and I don't know much about the android kernel yet, I'm only on my 2nd day being rooted on my 1st android device. If anyone could help me investigate this and figure out where the binary is located, and upload it I would be a very happy camper.
TLDR - After using Logging Test app and running remove IQ, i can rename or remove the library files with no issues! But I would still like to know more about the files/services associated.
Double post. Today my phone CIQ re-enabled itself, and started throwing the app crash message again "Android System Has Stopped Working.", because I have my CIQ library files re-named. Also note that it seems that I cannot RECEIVE text messages with these CIQ library files re-named. So DO NOT rename them.
Here is a link to the system_app_crash generated by renaming the library files.

Hmm... to be fair sometimes a lack of response is more a lack of confidence in any particular response that might be given. At times repercussions get ...awkward... for saying things that others might find ill informed, and as such a tendency to not say anything unless rather certain on the answer develops.
Anyhoo - I hadn't noticed the fact that the mobile network state listed itself as disconnected when connected to wifi... but ultimately (opens self up to possibly saying something stupid...) I can think of no good reason certain functions of the phone (at least mms or the tmobile app) would depend on mobile data being connected while wifi disconnected. Doing a quick test on my end - both of these functions seem to be behaving as expected while on wifi (tested with wifi calling NOT on, not sure that would throw a wrench in anything but you never know) - does the issue exist across wifi sources? That sort of thing might be something to bring up to a TMo service rep - not sure they will be of any help but given the response you've had here it couldn't be much worse, right?

Thank you for your response. I finally called Tmobile and they told me that their apps will only work on mobile data and are not meant to work over wifi even though they say my mobile data will always be on it just goes into a low power state and that MMS has to be set to auto receive which somehow was not checked. I was able to, but perhaps it was just a trick of app cache as opposed to it actually working... strange they require data, you'd think if it was that much of a need they'd force it to engage and wake up the low power state instead of forcing you to turn off wifi. Ah well, learn something new everyday Sorry I wasn't more help

please can you tell me witch coustom rom did you put in htc M8
and solve the data issue
i am going crazy with this phone
and i want to put same coustom rom like you
to get problem fix
please help
I have been using my m8 since the day I got it back in early April and have never experienced that issue. I am also on tmo but have the dev edition with stock rom but I live in the city so I always get a strong and good signal.
Possible solution
My M8 worked great for a month when about a week ago I've started having serious issues with the HSPA data.
After working great for a few minutes the data stopped working.
The H icon showed that traffic was sent from the phone but no traffic received by the phone.
Sometimes the data connection was restored by itself and sometimes I has to toggle the data connection off/on to have it restored.
It both cases the data connection failed again after several minutes.
All the diagnostics app showen that there was hspa connection.
After trying almost anything I could think of I found out what causes my problem:
It's the F**** NFC!!!
I've forgot that a week ago I've disabled the NFC thinking this will save battery life (though the battery life is great).
Turning the NFC on (followed by a power-down/power up cycle) solved all the data connection problem.
I've verified several times that NFC disable is indeed the cause of my problem.
Hope this helps others on this thread.
