My sprint gnex is rooted and I am running JBSourcery4.5. About a week ago I noticed that the clock across the top of the screen stopped and not being able to send or receive text messages when this happens. Hard and soft resets help but only for a short period of time. I thought that it might be the rom so I switched to PARANOIDANDROID 3.0 and had the same problem. I've searched all around for a solution and I saw something about turning off my wifi and that's seems to correct the problem but I'd much rather us wifi if it's available. Please help
Are those two roms using the same kernel? Also, did you wipe caches? Maybe try a superwipe..
Thank you so much! I changed my kernel and it's been working great ever since!!!!

Hey Everyone! So I'm having this problem where my phone will NOT ring or show that someone is even calling. The only way I found out that someone called me is when they text me asking why I didn't answer them. Well, my simple answer (that people are starting to not believe) is that my phone didn't even show that someone was calling... This wasn't so much an issue before because they could always text me if they needed to get a hold of me. But now after to applying to many places for a job, I kinda need it to ring. I also have another issue and that is that texts will not receive either. The only way I can get them is through Google Voice. This wasn't such a big deal to me but I would like to know if that can be fixed too. I have never had this issue until after I tried CM9. Since then I have tried many other ROMs to see if i still had this issue. I did.
The other ROMs I tried are:
MIUI v4
AOKP
Clean GB
Marcusant v3
MIUI Gingerbread
CM7
Legendary
What my current setup is:
ROM: AOKP
Android version: 4.0.3
Baseband Version: S700.0.5S.EI22
Kernel Version: [email protected] #6
Build Number: IML74K
Mod Version: aokp_epicmtd_build-28
Theme: NONE
PLEASE!!! ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!
Odin back to stock EL30. Follow the procedure in the How to restore a semi-bricked Epic thread. Test it there. If it works root and flash, do not restore data.

I did this and (sorry for taking so long to get back to you but i wanted to make sure that it was happening often and not just once in a while) it worked for the phone ringing but the messaging, although im receiving them, they come late. sometimes VERY late like a whole day later. This is not cool and would really like to find a solution because i dont want to have to be stuck on stock :'( Oh yeah btw the ROM i flashed this time was AOKP. Thank you for the help!!
I believe late texts are a symptom of carrier network issues. It should clear up when the maintenance is finished.

I am having the same issue with the phone calls either coming in late or not at all. I test this by calling my number from a land line. It takes 4 - 5 rings before the phone will start ringing, if it rings at all. Most of the time, Google Voice answers for voicemail.
I remember back in the days when I had my Windows phone, there was something that we could do to have the phone poll the towers more often to make the phone ring faster. I know that this faster response to phone calls came at the expense of more battery usage. I wonder if some of the battery saving tweaks done by the ROM developers has had a negative effect on the phone calls coming in.
I have tried updating my PRL and whatever through EL30, then reflashing with out restoring any data. Still having the issue.
Thanks.
this same thing is happening to me and everyone else in my neighborhood that has sprint. Its one specific tower that's causing the issues. I know this because once I connect to a different tower the issue goes away. I contacted sprint about it and they said they would fix it when they do the network vision upgrades, which could be a ways away.

I kinda thought it was a problem with the network and so i called them and last time they sent me a airave and it didnt solve the problem. I still think its a problem with sprint overall and am planning on calling them.
I have the same exact problem. I have even had the phone replaced and it still does it. I only know when it happens because google voice logs the missed call. I have had it happen with a completely stock phone as well as rooted.
It is very frustrating because like you said, people don't believe you when you say that your phone did not ring.
They are actually going to switch my phone again. I know this is not going to fix the problem, but I will play the game!
Hi all
I've got something which keeps crashing on my Nexus, i even resorted to not installing a single application on it and reverted right the way back to stock (received the OTA 4.0.4 update a few days ago)
it keeps crashing and asking me to send the bug report to myself, which part of the rather large bug report should i post up in order to help diagnose what is going on with this damn thing, its driving me up the wall now. (the log is very very long about 3.4mb so i cant attach it all...)
please help....

Bugmailers are user generated. It requires a combination of volume and power key. If for some odd reason it keeps doing it, itself...then turn off usb debugging.

I've looked around the forums and maybe I missed something but I couldn't find a solution to this so I apologize if this has already been covered in another thread. Every time I'm on a Rom my 3g/4G data gets stuck way too much where nothing would load (Play Store, browser, Facebook app, etc..) and a temporary solution would be to reboot and most of the time it works but sometimes doesn't help at all. Regardless of the outcome the same issue occurs eventually in a matter of minutes. Every troubleshooting step I've tried has failed. Why does this happen? Is there a reliable solution to fixing these sort of data issues? Please help anyone.

Update modem (try the newest LJC one, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2127753).

Are you using a prepaid plan? Whenever I flash a new ROM, it does not restore my APN settings. If you're using something like Straight Talk, this information has to be re-entered each time.
No I'm not. I'm on that truly unlimited plan so I am on contract. The modem method does not work for me cuz I've tried flashing every single modem, including the new one but I still get the same data getting stuck issue.. Any other suggestions please?

Hi everyone!
I'm using an Xperia Pro (with Fido) running FXP CM10. I've had this issue since forever and it really bothers me right now..... I keep receiving
duplicate text messages and I even send duplicated messages (without me noticing. It shows that I sent only one message). The weird thing is that
it seems to be happening to only one person (the person I text the most). Switching roms did not help me at all as I tried this like 3 or 4 times.
Some people told me to switch back to the original kernel for whatever rom I'm using but I've had this issue even on default kernels. No I am not
using a third party messaging app before you ask me that. Is there any specific options I need to configure in settings that could help me? Or is
there any options that I need to configure that could potentially make it worst? Sorry If I confused you or anything I'm just really desperate about
this problem. My friend is with Virgin Mobile if that could mean anything. So do you guys have any idea what the problem is or know how to fix
this issue? Maybe I dropped my phone too much (several times and once I dropped it from 2 meters high).
Thanks in advance!!
I've had the same problem before. Try this app

I'm not sure why but it suddenly stopped! At least for now. I noticed it stopped since I changed my plan (was paying 25$ a month and now there is
a discount that reduces it to 12.50$ a month.) Also, I'm using the Rom ViperXperia with Ultima ICS kernel because both has some network side
tweaks. I'm gonna try another kernel now and see if the problems comes back.
no solution to this?
Ive had this problem on my xperia play running xperia nxt lite using doomlord kernel. Its really frustrating cause it sends me so many messages and then I recieve a different message and it continous doing that. Please help

Start with the basics - Reinstall stock firmware.

This issue is most likely to be caused by being in a place with poor coverage or your phone fails to receive the network response that the text message was sent. Having both tweaks may be causing instability to how your phone handles the reception (increases the radio signal during weak network coverage or decreases the network signal during strong coverage.)
Try using a different kernel with Viper or try a different ROM with Ultima ICS... if the problem persists, try another ROM and kernel.
Exactly what the title says. As soon as i plug my phone into my laptop this messages appears "Restricted Access Changed, Data Service is Blocked". Im on C-Rom KK V6.6 with Lean Kernel 9.6 (stable version not experimental). This only happens when i plug my phone into my pc. Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks
now its doing it all the time, even if its not plugged in to my pc. =-(
bump! guess nobody knows how to fix this...........im still searching and searching for a solution.

I would suggest you try another ROM for the time being.
If you still get that issue on another ROM, I would suggest flashing stock, testing and go from there.
Didn't start doing it until I flashed c-rom. Guess I will try another custom ROM. Had my phone for 6 months before I rooted and flashed c-rom and have never seen that message before until now

I know this is probably too late but this recently happened to me on my nexus 5 through at&t service. Ive been using mahdi ROM 4.4.4 for about 5 months now and this just started recently. In mahdi, a built in app called "heads up" (similar to Hover) started displaying, in a pop up, "Restricted Access Changed" so I pressed and held the notification and chose "App Info". It then took me into my dialer settings in which I cleared the data and my data and phone service was instantly restored without reboot. It hasn't popped up once since and that was days ago. I tell you though, before I did what I did it was popping up like every 2 minutes at times. You've probably moved on from this but I see many people having this issue so I thought I'd share what worked for me.
