Any build should work with the XDAndroid wifi tether app.
BTW, that's the first thing that popped up on Google when I typed "xdandroid wifi tether" in.

well HTC are slow at updates so would like a ported N1 rom for now till 2.2 with sense is out.
If it's already loaded on the Evo 4g they al got for free :-(, doesn't that mean its already ported to htc sense UI??? Shouldn't it be able to work on our desires as well???
With very little, if no, work yes...I'd imagine!

Hi all, when I first got my EVO I used to be able to watch the webcams at my doggy daycare with the stock browser, but since updating to 2.2 they no longer work saying that active x is not installed. Their webcam site is set up to work with active x on IE only so it was much to my surprise when it worked with the stock browser in 2.1. Anyone have any ideas why this happened or if there is anything I can download or do to fix so the site works with 2.2? Thanks for any insight. I have tried Dolphin with no luck.

Unless I missed something over the past year it's impossible that ActiveX ever worked on your Android-based phone. ActiveX is proprietary and, to be honest, I don't know many people who are a fan of it let alone want it running on their devices. You sure your webcam isn't using a different technology, like Java for example, to pipe video over the net?
The webcams from the site may have been working with the Java or Flash lite from the stock browser in 2.1. Active x is needed to download the add on RTSP MPEG4 SP Control from VIVOTEK INC. I never downloaded anything to have them work on the EVO in the past. I went to the website clicked the link and the cams came up to view. Since updating to 2.2 I have not been able to view the cams on the phone.
Well since wifi tether does not work with this build. I was just curious if the one built into cyanogenmod is free just like the wifi tether app in the market?

OK, first of all....what ROM are you using right now? CM7 or a different one because it sounds like you're talking like we're right there with you dude! The WiFi tethering in CM7 works flawlessly and YES is build in so is FREE! The only thing is that you can't use the one in the market prior to trying to use the build in one because it will break the build in one and that will open up a can of worms!
For future questions or anything, try to explain things a bit in detail and include what rom you're currently on....if you're talking about a kernel include that as well! Don't always assume that we're mind readers or anything.......Oh and NO I'm not catching an attitude, I just like to use exclamation points...lol
Hi All Developers,
I want to preface that I have searched on google for this question and have not found a real answer. I have also searched on this site and others (neopeek, tiad8, etc). Here is my question:
I have a Sprint CDMA Touch Pro 2 (rhod400) and I am using a custom ROM for Android. I was wondering since some of the Sprint Android phones are similar in hardware, ie HTC Hero, can we port the original stock Android RUU of the HERO let's say to the Touch Pro 2 directly? This is only because the hardware is the same? Possible to change the screen resolution to 480x800?
I would appreciate any insight into this. The main reason for this is because I use Good for Enterprise for work and not able to have it move past the "Authenticating" part and says "Your phone/carrier is not supported". This only happens because it is a rooted ROM. I'd like to use an unrooted Android ROM on the Touch Pro 2 (rhod400). Is this possible?
Finally it's out on the Android Market!! ...

Well the article states "Sky Go for Android is now available on Android Market for a "selection of the popular handsets including HTC Desire S and Samsung Galaxy S2, covering the majority of Android users"."
Also, if you have managed to find it on the android market via your phone it usually indicates that the app is compatible with your device. I have noticed that as I switch between firmwares on my phone certain apps appear and disappear on the market due to compatibility issues.
So I'm not sure why you're gettin that message. Unfortanately I'm at work and without a wifi connection or a decent mobile data connection, so I can't really test it for myself
About bloody time I've been wasting my Orange Swappable on Sky TV packages but now can change them to something else now SKY Go
EDIT: I've not tested yet as I'm in a rush to make meeting how is it on Ginger bread and Friend just told me it does not work on rooted devices please Tell me its not true :-( also a problem with ICS
Yip its not showing as compatibile on mine. Phone must not be rooted. 2 years since iOS got theirs and now after the wait the rumor was true about rooting.
Hopefully the devs can do their work
And in Italy?

Doesn't work on rooted or ics phones. Thanks sky:-(
Sky are so pants!!
GREAT!!! I also get the "Sorry, Sky Go is not currently supported on this device" message, because I am on ICS.
And it looks like that rooted devices will NEVER be supported by the app.
Sky are so pants!!
Snipets taken from the FAQs section of the App:
Minimum Software Requirements:
"You must have OS versions 2.2 or 2.3 installed on your mobile device and have continuous Wi-Fi or 3G coverage to watch content on Sky Go."
"Sky Go is currently supported on the following Android smartphones and their operating systems HTC Desire, HTC Desire S, HTC Desire HD, HTC Incredible, HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy S II."
"In order to ensure that our rights' contracts are fully upheld we are also unable to support any Android devices that have been rooted"

I'm sure someone will manage to enable it on rooted devices, obviously its a lot easier said than done but surely its just a matter of working out how the app actually knows you're rooted and changing the code accordingly.
This long wait and hardly any versions are supported
rooted users can you give this a go to see if it works on Rooted devices doing what this guy says in the thread on Sky

Yeah a work around is inevitable. What I meant was that the app will never officially support rooted devices as it would infringe on sky's rights' contracts.
More worried about it not working on ics. Sure somebody will find a way to unlock it for rooted devices but not sure about ics.

They should release an update soon making it compatible with ICS. I'm assuming that seeing as there actually aren't that many ICS devices around at the moment and that most ppl are still on Ginger Bread, they decided to concentrate on GB and release that version first to satisfy the majority and then work on an update to satisfy the rest.
