Well the article states "Sky Go for Android is now available on Android Market for a "selection of the popular handsets including HTC Desire S and Samsung Galaxy S2, covering the majority of Android users"."
Also, if you have managed to find it on the android market via your phone it usually indicates that the app is compatible with your device. I have noticed that as I switch between firmwares on my phone certain apps appear and disappear on the market due to compatibility issues.
So I'm not sure why you're gettin that message. Unfortanately I'm at work and without a wifi connection or a decent mobile data connection, so I can't really test it for myself
About bloody time I've been wasting my Orange Swappable on Sky TV packages but now can change them to something else now SKY Go
EDIT: I've not tested yet as I'm in a rush to make meeting how is it on Ginger bread and Friend just told me it does not work on rooted devices please Tell me its not true :-( also a problem with ICS
Yip its not showing as compatibile on mine. Phone must not be rooted. 2 years since iOS got theirs and now after the wait the rumor was true about rooting.
Hopefully the devs can do their work
And in Italy?

Doesn't work on rooted or ics phones. Thanks sky:-(
Sky are so pants!!
GREAT!!! I also get the "Sorry, Sky Go is not currently supported on this device" message, because I am on ICS.
And it looks like that rooted devices will NEVER be supported by the app.
Sky are so pants!!
Snipets taken from the FAQs section of the App:
Minimum Software Requirements:
"You must have OS versions 2.2 or 2.3 installed on your mobile device and have continuous Wi-Fi or 3G coverage to watch content on Sky Go."
"Sky Go is currently supported on the following Android smartphones and their operating systems HTC Desire, HTC Desire S, HTC Desire HD, HTC Incredible, HTC Sensation, Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy S II."
"In order to ensure that our rights' contracts are fully upheld we are also unable to support any Android devices that have been rooted"

I'm sure someone will manage to enable it on rooted devices, obviously its a lot easier said than done but surely its just a matter of working out how the app actually knows you're rooted and changing the code accordingly.
This long wait and hardly any versions are supported
rooted users can you give this a go to see if it works on Rooted devices doing what this guy says in the thread on Sky

Yeah a work around is inevitable. What I meant was that the app will never officially support rooted devices as it would infringe on sky's rights' contracts.
More worried about it not working on ics. Sure somebody will find a way to unlock it for rooted devices but not sure about ics.

They should release an update soon making it compatible with ICS. I'm assuming that seeing as there actually aren't that many ICS devices around at the moment and that most ppl are still on Ginger Bread, they decided to concentrate on GB and release that version first to satisfy the majority and then work on an update to satisfy the rest.

** EDIT for new info **:
Flash for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will be out before the end of 2011. There will be no Flash support for Android 5.0:
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/43152/flash-for-android-4-end-2011-no-flash-for-android-5
The main reason why I switched to Android was it's Flash support. Finding out recently that ICS did not support Flash and that Adobe was discontinuing Flash development was very discouraging.
Google has confirmed that Flash is not yet operational in ICS, but Google is also confirming that Adobe will support Flash in ICS.

Although discouraging and disappointing at first, there is now hope.
So Flash Player doesn't even show up in the Android Market on the Galaxy Nexus but I thought that one can install the apk on the phone. It seems that this doesn't work either, according to other users who've already got theirs. e.g. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1351167
Half the bloody web uses Flash. How are we supposed to view those sites?
To be honest I'm glad there is no support at the moment and wish that it wouldn't come. I haven't missed it since upgrading to the Nexus and if anything browsing is faster!
has anyone tried side loading it
Flash is going to die in mobile platforms, and we should be pressing video stream websites to use html5, instead of crying about flash's death. Damn memory/cpu hog.

i dont know about you guys, but for me, more then half the web uses flash. The only reason im not getting iphone because of flash. The stream i always go to, uses flash. gonna wait a month, if they dont support flash on nexus, im getting sgs2
SGS2 will eventually get ICS and will have similar "problem"

It's no problem at all to set the flash settings to "on demand " so you have the fast browsing experience and flash if you need it.

i her simple apps like tweecaster and facebook do not work! is this true? wtf is going on?. not having flash is a bummer. at least we should have the option. volume issues, no flash, simple apps not working.. this is getting really discouraging
Because they aren't updated for ics I would say. And because the Nexus is the only ics device at the moment they are probably to lazy to do so.

you keep running the Apple party line. the rest of us would prefer to have the option for when we need it.
Adobe Flash is currently #24 in the top (free) apps for Android. and the majority of the low reviews are from idiots using 50 dollar Cricket android phones.
don't like it? don't use it. no reason to come in here and spout nonsense.
Hopefully this will shut up the people who keep going on about no Flash support on the GN. It's a brand new hardware running a brand new software; of course there are going to be compatibility issues for early adopters.

Several people have reported trying to sideload the latest flash apk for Honeycomb - it didn't work.
About the apps issue, how long is it before they usually get sorted out and ready for the latest OS (right now ICS). I know that the main reason I use my phone for is Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Browsing.
I'm not guessing too long right?

If those 4 things are your main concerns it shouldn't be a problem. As far as I know Twitter works fine. Official Facebook app has always been pretty ass on the Android so if you can live with it before you can probably live with it now. YouTube is natively supported and apart from not having Flash the browser is blazing fast.

Lack of flash is Adobe's fault, not Google's.
Since my post count is so low I have to start a new thread for this, sorry about that.
I just installed the ICS Beta III
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343361
A half hour later or so I get an email from Google 'Welcoming me to my Galaxy Nexus'.
Has this happened to anyone else???
Did you happen to wander into the about section and click on system updates?

Nope, I flashed the ROM then downloaded a couple of apps from the Market as I was doing that I got the email.
All the links go to Google. I am just wondering is it something buried in the ICS code. Once you log on with your Google account it sends out a standard email to the account.
I don't really want to bother any of the dev's with it. They have enough to worry about right now without someone hassling them about something that is not that important in the grander sceme of things.
It's because the galaxy nexus is the only ICS Device with release codes for market so far. That will disappear once a more similar HTC device is released with ICS and we have a broader selection of release codes to choose from. Earlier beta's ran on test codes. They can be changed in build.prop.
Cheers man. I just could not understand it since it did not happen when I flashed the 1st and 2nd beta roms.
Thanks for posting this MrBC I also got this email and was curious about it.
I got this email as well MrBC...
Of course they can track what ROM use are using to browse android market. For example, I have recently update to Android revolution 2.3.5 and now not able to install few app which I used to have earlier on stock ROM 2.3.4.
I also got this
just ignore it lol
what i wondered was if it thinks we have a nexus why can we still not see some android apps lol
It's still beta so there are plenty of bugs. Its possible that there is a framework bug, or some component is missing. Then there is still the fact the a lot of apps on market are listed as not compatible with ICS. I'd expect it to take until 2012 before we have a fully functioning ROM and a fully working market.

Some people hate the verizon apps , I actually like them because I am the account manager. I need to make sure there is no overages from time to time on my numbers also I like the My Verizon Widget.
Ever since 4.0.4 , all 4.0.4 roms it never works.
It says your device is not compaptible is there any chance someone provide me APK for Verizon Login or tell me how to load it ignoring the error in play store? thank you

Are you referring to 4.0.4-based custom ROMs? Because I'm running the official Verizon 4.0.4/Build IMM30B that was pushed over-the-air to some people, and Verizon login works fine, as do the Verizon-branded apps like NFL Mobile.
I have run into this issue on custom ROMs though, particularly on my Motorola Xoom. Unfortunately, I believe all the Verizon-branded apps are designed to specifically check for Verizon-blessed ROMs, not just whether or not you're a subscriber. As far as I know, none of our devs here at XDA have ever found a way to circumvent that protection.

Well 4.0.4 built from source isn't an official Verizon ROM, so therefore the Verizon-branded apps aren't going to work for you, unfortunately. That's so lame isn't it? Being a subscriber isn't enough...you have to be running officially blessed firmware as well.
Also, that "leaked" 4.0.4 wasn't really a leak. Verizon did actually push it OTA to some users but the OTA was ultimately stopped for unknown reasons. Regardless, if you want 4.0.4 AND the Verizon apps, I think the 4.0.4 OTA IMM30B is going to be your only choice for now until Verizon pushes an official IMM76D ROM, which hopefully will be soon.
So is there still no way to circumvent this problem? I'm running Apex on 4.0.4 and Verizon Login isn't compatible with my device. Is there no way to sideload the apk, or is that not enough? I can't imagine not being able to use the NFL Mobile app once football season starts up.

The official Sony Playstation site tells a slightly different story,
The One X, S, and the rest will have the playstation app included in the jellybean update. Or to quote Sony "Playstation support on HTC phones is rolling out with Android 4.1 and above upgrades, timing of which is subject to regional and operator circumstances"
It specifically calls out the One V as "playstation support will arrive as part of a larger update, details to be announced later on".
So, obviously HTC has informed Sony the One V is NOT getting jelly bean as this new update is well, new.
I am hoping the "larger update" will include a newer version of sense for us, or a "value pack" but who knows. We could also see HTC decide it was a mistake including the One V and ask Sony to quietly remove it from the list of certified devices.
When the update comes, you will have two new icons in the app drawer. The "PSM" icon and a "let's start PSM" which will help you set up a playstation account if you don't already have one.
Yes, there are "hacks" to make it work on any rooted device, but seeing as we have a playstation certified device we will not have to worry about manually updating the darn thing all the time.
All this info is available on the Sony site guys, and is being updated continually. I do not have any kind of inside info, I just know how to use google!!!!
Cheers,

Well, easy........updates.
It's like getting google now on an ICS ROM with flashable zips. Your version is as current as the version the zip was based on. When google brings out new features, you have to wait for a new zip, and flash again when or if it becomes available. Kinda, but not really like "pirating" an app. Updates depend on someone other than the first party. Being "playstation certified" means, when Sony chooses to update the PSM app (done twice already) certified phones will recieve the update right away, phones with modded versions will have to wait for the dev to re-mod the app, or,worse....an update could close the hack used to install it on non-certified devices. This is something we will not have to worry about.

I am a paranoid person ...
A new user has posted a few times about a website that offers a download they say can root many devices including the new Sprint Tab SM-T217S.
The website is out of China and it is a new site. The company behind it is Kingsoft Technology Ltd. Their website has a few translation issues but it is mostly readable.
The site claims their software has been used by millions of users on hundreds of thousands of devices.
Perhaps they do exactly what they say they do, I don't know.
What seems more likely is their software may install something insidious on the Windows machine and the android device you are rooting.
I may test the software on a fresh Windows machine but I am no expert.
Does anyone have experience with KingApp? If I am way off base here please post that here.

There was some posts in another thread about this when I was searching how to root my Sprint Tab 3. A couple people checked the code they could and could not find any issues and several had rooted their devices with no issues.
I rooted mine last night this way as well with no issues at all. I scanned my PC prior to installing the app and right after installing the app as well as after uninstalling the app and nothing came up at all in the scans at all. My Tab rooted with no issues and is running great. Installed Greenify and Titanium Backup and got both set-up and some of the bloat apps frozen and have had no issues and the Tab 3 is running great.
Thanks for the info. I am not really concerned about the rooting. I will copy the Data and System partitions from the Tab before and after so I can compare.
I primarily worry about the software installing a root-kit or something on the PC. I still have not had a chance to mess with it, maybe this weekend. I think I will try running it in a Virtual windows install.

As far as I can tell the KingoApp website root tool did not infect my computer and it flawlessly rooted the 2 Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (sprint SM-T217S) tablets I have.
I hate to admit that I sometimes get things from torrent sites but doing so has made me fairly adept at spotting rootkits and viri.
Of course using a virtual machine would be the preferred method to use something like this. I am paranoid of the source....
