Is there a way to turn off the incoming SMS notifications that pop up at the top of the screen?
I don't know how to turn it off, but you can swipe it left or right and it will go away

ok so i keep my phone on vibrate at work but sometimes dont hear it buzz on the desk and im noticing that with outlook it wont light up when i recieve a email like it lights up with a incoming txt. is there any way to force the screen to turn on/light up with a incoming direct push email?
I'll bring this topic to the top with the opposite question:
How to disable the phone from lightening up when sms arrives?
A lot of "automated" stuff then happenes when walking around with a live device in my pocket ...
no way to disable the lighting up.. best advice on that route is to use a keypad locker so i dont hit buttons on accident..
So I set my phone to vibrate when I get notifications so I can feel it in my pocket while in class or in a movie. But for some reason it isn't working on my phone. The haptic feedback works and when I change it it vibrates. But when I get notifications it doesn't vibrate.... any ideas why this is?
Update: It has been fixed....
In SMS hit the 3 dots (menu) and go to settings; from there go to the bottom and change 'Vibrate' from 'Never' to 'Always'
It has been fixed....
with this update when I receive a missed call, txt, email etc it shows up at the top of the screen as a notification and shows some of the text. when i press it, thinking it`ll expand i just get a large empty box pop up on the below half of the screen, with no further data, in this box i can unlock the phone, outside of the box just reverts back to the normal lock screen with the notification.
pretty annoying - can it be disabled?
When someone calls me my phone (nexus 5x, 7.1.2) doesn't wake up, the screen stays off and I only see the call if I wake up phone and then it's only the dialler icon in notification bar, so I have to wake phone and drag notification bar down to answer or reject call? It always used to be full screen and wake my phone? Any ideas?

Click to collapse
Go into Settings -> Apps -> Click gear icon on top right -> Check "Phone app". Probably you'll need to select a default phone app
Hello, everytime i get a notification from whatsapp or anyother app, while screen is off. My phone Reads aloud sender name. How to turn it off.. its so annoying.
