[Q] Vibration notification not work? Help? [SOLVED] - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So I set my phone to vibrate when I get notifications so I can feel it in my pocket while in class or in a movie. But for some reason it isn't working on my phone. The haptic feedback works and when I change it it vibrates. But when I get notifications it doesn't vibrate.... any ideas why this is?
Update: It has been fixed....
In SMS hit the 3 dots (menu) and go to settings; from there go to the bottom and change 'Vibrate' from 'Never' to 'Always'

It has been fixed....

Message Vibrate Not Working

I've been running the latest CM7 nightlies for a while now and starting about a week ago, the vibrate function stopped working when I received text messages. I use Chomp SMS and I've changed the settings in there, in the standard messaging app, and in the general sounds category in settings. The phone still vibrates for everything else - games, alarms, phone calls, etc.
Any ideas? I'd rather not have to do a full reset.

Did you change the notification settings in the stock messaging app?
Messaging > menu > settings > notification settings > vibrate > "vibrate always"
Yes I did that. Any other ideas?

Shot in the dark, are you using the notifications drop-down power widgets? I had an issue a while back that when I used those to adjust the volume/vib/silent toggle, it would turn off vibrate in the global settings when moving back and forth between "vibrate" and "all sounds on".
Just make sure that your global settings are correct and then dont change anything then test the notification with an incoming SMS.
Other than that I'm out of ideas.
I tried changing the global settings again and in the process realized that it vibrates now when the phone is set to "silent" mode, but when I turn on the volume again the vibrate goes away. I set every single notification setting I could find to vibrate always so this is super confusing.

Try setting up a notification power widget. And under 'widget buttons' scroll all the way down to 'sound modes' and select one of the options where the first one is "sound+vibrate". Toggle to this mode from the notification pull-down and see if that toggles it. (I personally use 'Sound+Vib/Vib/Silent').
I found that the stock settings and CMsettings often mess eachother up.
I ended up flashing back to a backup from 2 weeks ago - it was worth the time because the vibrate settings are completely back to normal. Thanks for the help, though, I'll keep it in mind for future reference in case this happens again.

Settings - Sound - Vibrate (When calls & notification ) - Disable that and it should be fine. Or doesn't that help ?
I have already done the settings in sound, still it does not help.

Tried putting it on "No-Sound" mode ? (Add Sound Widget, there are 3 modes : Sound, Vibrate, No Sound)
That last one should disable everything if I'm correct ?
Uncheck pocket mode
Settings > sound> pocket mode (Uncheck it)

I have the same problem here. I don't think turning the pocket mode off is the right fix. It vibrates even I leave it on the table.
Yeah same for me the damn vibration woke me up as its really loud. I have pocket mode enabled though, isnt it only supposed to put the volume up? Besides my phone was laying on a table with the sensor unblocked

same problem .. i have turned off all vibrating option and still it vibrate when message and call comes
Vibrate Issues - Could be a Common Problem with Android
I think this is a common problem with Android phones as this happens not only on my EVO 3D but also on a brand new Sony Xperia P. Even restarting the phone after changing/toggling between vibrate on and off between restarts does not help. Despite checking all settings and turning off, when any notification or an incoming call or anything happens, the phone vibrates!
I have checked all applications' settings too because some settings are there for vibrate for notifications. IMO chat app, etc and even in messaging I have vibrate turned off under settings for notifications and STILL the phone vibrates! This IS an ISSUE and I don't see why Android developers:highfive: or even Mobile Company QA personnel:cyclops: have not bothered to check this BASIC issue and Resolve it over so long! Could be the cause of why Android Battery life sucks so much or an inherited bug! Tried this even on a HTC Explorer.
From what I've read around there is NO way to disable all vibrations in non-rooted android phones! Kinda stupid if you ask me. For a rooted phone you have to download an app like either Spare Parts and disable vibration via that. Why they don't have the option to globally disable all vibration as default settings on Android beats me?! You can turn off vibration under settings for notifications and anything but you WILL still get vibrate despite turning all vibrate settings OFF! They HAVE to rectify this nonsense! Basic functionality and they can't even get that right!

[Q] No vibration alert for SMS

Hi,
Strange problem with my note 2.
My phone doesn't vibrate when receiving a text message...
I can't see any settings to change when the phone should vibrate or not when on silent.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Andy
weird innit....
in the messaging app, go to settings and scroll down, under "notification settings" you can enable vibrate
Seems to be a bug
I have the same issue, but it is only an issue when the screen is off. If the screen is on, the vibrate feature works as the settings I have indicate it should. It appears to be a bug.
Searched high and low and there isn't a fix that I could find, so I just used Tasker (app) to set the phone to vibrate whenever a text message is received. Does the trick, now it vibrates on SMS receipt whether the screen is on or off.

I have the same issue on my T-Mobile Note 2 running a ported international ROM. It's driving me insane! :crying:
Thanks for the idea with using Tasker. I'm going to give that a try until I find an updated ROM release.

Apps with vibration off still vibrate..

I just got my Note 3 today and noticed that apps with vibration off still vibrate when notifications are received. Anyone else have this issue?
For those who might not understand what I mean:
When the phone is on vibrate mode, only the apps with vibration on are supposed to vibrate. However, the apps with vibration off are also vibrating.
I don't like this
Try to disable the vibration on the app itself and see what happens.
for me viber is doing this, even when set to silent I still have phone vibrate when receving messeges on viber and yes vibration is ticked off. I only fixed this via app info window>untick show notifications
Note 3 vibrate
I am having this same problem as well with my note 3. I have both my gmail and outlook app set not to vibrate, but when I put my phone on vibrate so it doesn't ring while I am at work my phone will still vibrate every time I get e-mail despite having vibrate un-check in both apps. It works fine when I have my volume on.
Now I can't turn vibrate off for notifications because I still need to be notified that I get text when my phone is on vibrate.
If anybody figures this out please do tell
Thanks,
An update on what I've discovered:
I took a guess that this might not be a bug but a feature (a really stupid one) and installed Android 4.3 leak on my old Note 2, which previously was on 4.1.2 and did not have this issue. On 4.3, it brings up this problem. Apps with vibration off will vibrate in vibrate mode. So I guess it is normal.. can anyone else with Android 4.3 on other devices confirm?
ALSO: The stock apps Email and Calendar do not do this. If vibrate is off, and the phone is in vibrate mode, then notifications from these apps won't vibrate.
