Hi everyone,
Is it possible to add the HID BT Profile to the Evo stock ROM? I don't feel like flashing a new rom just yet to get this feature added, but was curious if anyone knew of anyways to get HID BT working. Thanks in advance.
That would be awesome. I keep going back to Cyanogen to type my lecture notes with my BT keybaord. I wish Myn's or Fresh had it incorporated but I think the issue is that they both are Sense Roms and not AOSP
Right now the answer is NO, but Teksoft is working on it.

They are asking for beta testers for their upcoming version. No word on when they will be testing tho.
Good to hear, thanks for the updates.
Ava has been working on it too. He mentioned it might come around the same time as v10, but it also sounds like he has been busy. You might want to keep up with his twitter.

Hey guys now since we have 2.2 root woohoo!! I am in the process of deciding which rom I am going to flash or kernel. Baked snacks as gotten my attention with its battery kernel. However my questions is this, with baked snacks will the wiimote be able to link up with PSXDROID or is CM V6 the only ROM that fixes the bluetooth error. Now I have read that its is because of the way bluetooth was programmed with sense, however because this is a custom rom and in the updates it states fixed bluetooth I am curious.
HAD had that rom before nopewiimote bluetooth doesn't work

As I understand it, CyanogenMod 6 is the only ROM that has incorporated a more standard Bluetooth stack. All the rest are still using the crippled one from HTC. So CM6 is the only option for expanded BT connections beyond headsets.
This is what I believed as well just wanted to confirm this. Thanks for the input guys and I do appreciate it.
I've been lingering around here for a while without putting my voice out so hello. So Hello!
Anyway, I live in Philly and we have 4G but I rarely ever find the need for it. So I've been considering moving over to CM6 permanently. Why? Because CM6 has a good HID Bluetooth stack. I'm currently running Fresh Evo 3.1.0.2 with Netarchy's 4.0.3 Toastmod Kernel. The phone is running very smooth but I'm longing to play NES Games with a wiimote. (Ya, I know it's silly, but whatever!)
My question is, has anyone heard from flipz, or netarchy, or kings, etc about whether or not they plan on attempting to implement a uncrippled version of froyo with Sense and the true android bluetooth stack?
ah you havnt lurked enough!
the problem is with the bt stack AND sense. seems they dont work well together, something in sense causing conflicts, maybe a custom library (i dont know)?
either way its not that the devs DONT want to do it, they currently cant.
cm6 is cool, i like it and use it currently as my daily rom. however i havnt paired a controller with it. id rather play snes roms myself. some good old chrono tirgger and ff3 <3

Ya, that too. I just wanna play thru goonies II & metroid, then I'll start looking at SNES stuff.
So basically we need HTC to either fix the conflicting libs, or release source for Sense so the community can fix it themselves.

Wait a minute.....are you saying that with CM6, I may be able to pair my phone to a PS3? Or what if Sense is completely removed from my current Fresh rom and I use Launcher Pro.....will that allow the BT stack to be more compatible with other devices?
Just a shot in the dark, really.

Hmmmm......I think I'm going to have to get get CM6 on my phone just to try it out. If it works, I can always back up my roms and go back from one to the other. Maybe I'll like the CM6 rom and keep it since there is no 4G in Miami yet. CM6 is one of the few I haven't experimented with yet.

Goonies II . . . classic.
"Ouch! What do you do?"
The wiimote is pretty cool. I have one of the retro gamepad bluetooth wii controllers and had it working great with CM6 with SNES, NES and Sega emulators.
Hi Guys n Ladies!
Im new to xda and allow me to say HI! =D
Im here struggling to find information regarding thigs id like to do to my phone!
Currently I have Tmobile G2 with CM7- Overclocked! Im not entirely noob, there are alot of questions i need answered but ill let google search do that!
Now, Im giving up.. cant find answers to things that im looking for!
I want SesneUI ROM that can be overclocked! So far ive been able to flush SenseUi roms but only at stock speed at 806mhz!
Is this possible? Is this a stupid question perhaps? lol ..
Anyone that can point finger and lead me to right direction or maybe supplying me with some linxx?
Thanks in Advance
Check out Virtuous ROM. I used it for a while and it worked very well. I believe they offer 2 different kernels. 1 is slightly overclocked, and the other you can use SetCPU with to get to the settings you want. At least thats the way it was a month or two back. I'd recommend Virtuous. Check out the Android Development section for more info.
Are you only looking for Gingerbread Sense ROMs? I don't think there are any kernels that support OC for Gingerbread/Sense yet. But I'm sure that's being worked on.
If you aren't asking about Gingerbread specifically, there are at least a couple of options. As already mentioned, Virtuous ROM has a couple kernel choices with different OC options.
Also, I know from personal experience that the stock Desire Z ROM works and overclocks just fine with the Godspeed kernel (and possibly others).
Great, Thanks Guys!
I Downloaded the Virtuous Rom + Advanced Kernel 2.1.2 and have found couple of things that are not quite properly operating. For Example: LockScreen sometimes stays Black(Screen Doesnt Turn on to unlock) and Homescreen Personalization Button wont operate or react (wont do anything) which is not a biggie, also bluetooth not quite sure if it works, because i couldnt link my headset! Any thoughts??? Overall its great, Exactly what i was looking for.. first, I didnt know how to flash kernel but youtube did the trick!
Thanks Again!!
Hi gents...
Long-time lurker here, but I wanna take the step and root my Evo. The new update is cool, but I wanna see what else is out there. I want either a stock Gingerbread build or GB/Sense 3.0 build. Can anyone recommend specific ROMs for either of these? Which is better?
Also, will my SMS messages transfer over?

Its best to back up your SMS, I use go SMS to back em up every night.
Nice and easy.
As far as the rest, look around and see what you're interested in.
Also, if you have the newest bootloader via the newest update everyday you cannot root yet

If took the OTA prior to rooting and setting s-off with urevoked forever, you might not be able to root at this time.

i haven't gotten the update and don't plan to, but anywho when you are able to root and flash again, give mik's rom mik g v1.0/v1.1 a try its android 2.3 and has sense 2.1 with a few 3.0 features like the ring on the lockscreen and is really stable and fast. i run it and love it and have been using his mik z and mik g roms on and off for the last few months

take a look in the dev section grab a few roms and test see what works best for your phone
I just flashed deck's latest gingerbread this morning and it seems to be working fine, I had been using his rc 10 for over a month and liked it too. I don't change roms often, and I miss a couple of the sense widgets but deck's is stable and fast. You may like it, I do.

My GPS wasn't working correctly with rc 9 but I hadn't tried it until recently to find out. Flashing the new 1.2v fixed the GPS problem right up. I have not found any other issues but I only flashed it a few hours ago, everything seems to be working great. I had no issues with SMS, it worked fine.
There is plenty of information about rooting in the development section.
As far as ROMS go I use Deck Aosp 2.3 as my daily driver. Its very fast and stable.
I am playing with Mik Rom with the sense 3.0 and I really like it.
For a fail safe you can run any 2.2 Rom from Myn or Mik.
The beauty of being rooted is there there are so many great devs on here that make great Roms. Play around you will find what you like.

I have been running CM7 for a while and I am fairly happy with it. I seem to like the basic function over what I have see on other people's phones with either ICS or JB. So I want to ask what advantages or better functions would make me want to upgrade? Maybe better device support? I do notice that my wifi drops off a lot but I also have friend's with the SIII stock and they have the same issue.

ICS
>BETTER APP SUPPORT
>Face unlock
>Easier Folder management
>Better widget/app drawer
>Pinch-to-zoom functionality in the calendar
>Integrated screenshot capture
>Better voice integration and continuous, real-time speech to text dictation
>Better Contacts app
>Chrome syncing
>Built-in photo editor
>ANDROID BEAM!
>others....plus these are stock features. A custom rom will further improve things.
JB
>EVEN BETTER APP SUPPORT!!!
>BUTTERY SMOOTHNESS
>GOOGLE Now
>Expandable notifications
>Photosphere
>Gesture keyboard
>Lock screen widgets
These are just the main bullet points IMO there is no reason to stick with an old outdated OS. I used CM7 until ICS came out officially for our device. CM7 is based off GB which first came out in 2010! If you're wary of custom roms at least update officially and enjoy the most of android.
If your into flashing roms there are many stable ones running Google Now on ICS 4.0.4 if you are just looking for updated google apps. JB isn't officially out for out phones yet so the devs have done a good job of porting roms so we can use JB if you want to. I would check the threads on JB roms and decide which is best for you.
Thanks for help
Thanks for the insight. I am still on the fence but it is not like I can't revert after playing a bit, isn't that was a nand backup is for?

yeah. just make a backup and play around. If you are on cm7 i recommend upgrading to cm10.1, it only gets better.
