[Q] [?] Someone PLZ Answer - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im a CM6 user I use a HAVS kernel now I read in the Cyanogen thread not to use ABD reboot bcuz it will mess up the kernel function. Now for months Ive been powering off my phone turning on, recovery choose reboot. Its really starting to get at me so what I was wondering is say an Apk like QuickBoot or any other that gives you the option to reboot or recovery, ect. Does that go thru ADB reboot can I safely reboot like that without effecting kernel? Also PLZ someone with the right knowledge answer this. Thanks in advance

What you are asking is not making sense to me? I'm guessing you're asking about the app Quickboot and whether it will mess up your phone. If you hold the power button down on CM6 and click on power off you can choose the option for recovery thus eliminating the need to install Quickboot.

See what Im saying is in the CM6 kernel thread it say not to use use ADB Reboot with a HAVS kernel, what Im wondering is can I use an app like quick boot to reboot bcuz the whole power off thing is getting old to me does an App like quick boot go thru ADB to reboot?

cm6 has a native 'quickboot'-like function. hold down power like you are turning off your phone, but instead of hitting power off, hit reboot. you can select normal, recovery, or bootloader from here. if it were huring anything, it would not be naitive.
hope this helps
dk

How is it getting old? It takes 4 seconds. You still have to open quickboot, get root permissions, and click on reboot.
Sent while sitting on the toilet.

You're not supposed to use adb to reboot if you are using a havs kernel? Why is that, if you are rebooting how could it affect the kernels functioning?

This was a bug in a very old version of Snap... Like, Snap 7.5 beta. Go get Snap 7.6, and if you're using CyanogenMod 6.1 RC1, then do not use Snap, as they're not fully compatibile with each other anymore.
END OF THREAD.

bacon-bits owned my phone few weeks ago, always wondered why

So... I seen baconbits shortly after rooting and flashing, I installed baconbits, phone booted, than right from start up I get forceclose on every app and process... than I tried to do a backup, I got an error on cwm so than I wiped data and tried to reflash fresh and start over, that would not work. So I recovered the stock froyo and fixed cwm than I flashed fire and ice cm7 rom.. everything has been fine since I fixed it.. it was still frustrating tho..
But when ever I go to my boot loader before recovery, I get this green font that says blah blah blah not found (its trying to locate files to install that stock froyo, but after it doesn't locate the file I'm free to access recovery or do whatever.. is there a way to delete that "cannot find" ****, it takes about 20 seconds from holding power and volume down to give me control.. that's why I want it gone its annoying.. even if I can't fix it, I guess its not a major setback..

thats internal feature of Hboot... it looks for pc10img.zip on sd card.... not at all an error....
and it can be useful in a situation where you mess up your recovery and rom ... you would be able to save your phone via that ....
also its used to go back to stock rom and unroot when needed
+1 for hispeedword. Best possible answer right there - that's exactly what's going on. Use ROM Manager to reboot straight to recovery from now on and it will skip HBOOT so you don't have to wait through all of that. CM and most other roms also allow that option when you hold down the power button.
Now, you said "shortly after rooting and flashing" - what exactly did you flash? You do know baconbits is ONLY meant to be used with the stock rom right? The exact one that you rooted and that came on your phone. If you flash ANY other rom - even a 'stock rooted rom' then you run into tons of errors when flashing baconbits.

Yeah I was being stupid, I didn't even know at the time when my phone messed up that it was from me flashing baconbits...until I did a back up, than flashed a different rom and reflashed baconbits, lmao..
so your saying to use baconbits if you rooted but didn't flash custom roms, than it works fine?
I'm thinking of switching to a sense rom, I don't even know why.. what are the pros/cons of sense? Thanks.
Assuming you've already answered your question up there, sense roms usually consume more battery life because of the plethora of constantly active widgets. However, if you're VERY social or buisiness, Id recommend it. The battery drain only cuts down on a few hours, depending on your usage, cpu governers and radio, and for that, you get a lot of functionality from the rom. Plus the new elegant blues ported theme for sense roms is just gorgeous. I also like the whole manual link to facebook in the contacts. Still hoping for a port for that xP try it out.

[SPRINT][CDMA][FROYO][GUIDE] Overcome/KhasMek 1.4ghz OC FAST (4.30.2011)

First off, this is not for the faint of heart. Backup your junk, don't flash modems or bootloaders if you don't what you're doing, in fact, don't flash anything, if you are not aware of what is what... Read this ENTIRE GUIDE FIRST, THEN DO IT... that way you have a clear understanding of what is suppose to be on your sd card, etc....
Second, none of this is my own work. I take no credit for the development of any of the following, this is more of a guide than
a rom on how to get a Sprint SPH-P100 working with a custom recovery, kernel and rom.
I should note, I have tmobile US, and my interest in this tablet is a secondary device, hence it being a sprint device. It is not meat to be a phone for me... I dont plan to make calls or text, only tether it to my phone, use GPS as well as the other functions. It is, essentially, a laptop replacement with extra goodies...
That being said, if you test this, it is at your own will and I will provide no further instructions on how to undo something you have done... this forum has a search feature, use it. Any contributions to developing it further and providing fixes for the problems listed below are welcomed.
Before I begin, big, BIG thanks to alterbridge for providing me with excellent tips.
Also to Khasmek for his kernel and everyone who helped in the production of heimdall.
Again I say, this guide is meant to give you overclocking features for your tablet. As-well-as the ability to reboot to a custom recovery from the gui (in this case cwm 3.0.0.0).
What works?
Wifi
Camera
Video Recorder
Gallery
all other apps
What does not work?
GPS
What may or may not work?
Calls
MMS
SMS
Voicemail
What's included:

I'm assuming here that you are rooted. If you are not, use superoneclick. Google it...
I'm assuming your are stock also, if you are not, I advise you to get that way using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9753941#post9753941
Please read it carefully as you can complete bork your tablet if you are not certain. Thanks to gordesky1 for the guide.
When/if you are back to stock you can begin this process. I insist that you do this, because it is the method I started from after flashing various roms/kernels etc...
Now preload your microSD card with the following (i'm assuming you have formatted and can load it with a pc-usb attachement)

Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941781
You will also need a new vold.fstab file, a link is within the instructions.
Lets begin (flashed with Windows 7, sorry mac/linux users, you are on your own):
Step 1: Flash the VZW kernel, as it contains cwm custom recovery and allows you to flash kernels and roms.
Source: http://www.thegalaxytabforum.com/index.php?/topic/1775-clockworkmod-for-sprint-galaxy-tabs/
Download zImage file here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SV6IKL1D
Process: (thanks jkurl15)
"To get the zip file containing the zimage download it from here. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=SV6IKL1D
To flash the zimage you will need to use Heimdall which can be downloaded here. http://www.glassechi...ducts/heimdall/ <--------click on the binaries
link for 1.1.1
instruction are below.
Heimdall install instructions
1. Download Heimdall here http://www.glassechi...ducts/heimdall/
2. Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) and install it. http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en <------only if you are using Microsoft widows
2. Unzip Heimdall and you should have several files in the folder called Heimdall.exe, Heimdall-Frontend.exe, QtCore4.dll, QtGui4.dll, Readme.txt and drivers folder containing zadig.exe
3. Put you tab into Download mode(while the tab is OFF hold Volume Down + Power Button). Hook the tab up to you PC and Run Zadig.exe to install the
drivers.
4. From the menu chose Options -> List All Devices.
5. From the USB Device list chose "Samsung USB Composite DEvice".
6. Press "Install Driver", click "Yes" to the prompt and if you receive
a message about being unable to verify the publisher of the driver
click "Install this driver software anyway".
7. Done. This only needs to be done once.
ClockWorkMod Install Instructions
1. First root you tab (use one click root or z4root) then downloaded rom manager.
2. Unzip the flash_image_VZW_zimage.zip. It will have have two files flash_image and zimage. you only need to use the zimage file. Open Heimdall-Frontend.exe and browse to where you unzipped the zimage to and select it. Make sure the box infront of zimage is checked. Hit start and it should flash the zimage and reboot the tab. when it reboots it will get stuck at the samsung screen long hold the power button to shut it off. boot into recovery (cwm) power button plus volume up button it will start backing up to do the fs conversion but it will fail at /data and /cache. it will leave you in recovery.
3. While still in recovery select factory reset/data wipe when finished also do a cache wipe.
4. select reboot system, if you let it try to boot it will loop/hang on the SAMSUNG logo, this is not an issue just hold power key until it powers off.
5. while off hold volume up + power until you see the SAMSUNG logo then release both keys! NOTE: if step 4 does not fully power off and reboots just keep holding the power button until the screen blanks again then let go and quickly hold down only volume up + power until you see the SAMSUNG logo.
6. once it boots back into recovery (cwm) it will start the same backup/conversion process again, this time it will finish and leave you in recovery.
7. select reboot system and wait for it to load the tab back to froyo. (it will be back to factory defaults with the activation screen again)
8. Your tab will still be rooted so install terminal emulator and run "mount" to verify that your partitions are ext4.
9. Power off then boot back into recovery with volume up + power, it will boot back into recovery (cwm)
10. Do a backup and reboot your tab. " - zkurl
Step 2: Your screen should show you cwm 3.0.0.0 and be ready...
1) Wipe Data/Factory reset (for good measure)
2) Wipe Cache
3) Wipe Dalvick
Step 3:
Install the [Kernel]. It will flash and let you know when it is successful.
Step 4:
Install the [ROM]. It will flash and let you know when it is successful.
Step 5:
Install the [Kernel] AGAIN. (i know, it seems retarted, however I've had bootloops otherwise and it didn't matter if i didn't flash it before the rom or not, it would screw up) Anyways, it doesn't hurt.
Step 6:
Wipe again, just for good measure
Step 7:
Reboot device (first boot will take a few but doesn't hang at anything. Which means, if you see the samsung logo for longer than 60 seconds (actually takes right at 30 seconds)... you screwed up. The boot animation of the blue android with astro stars thingies going around it means you are on the path to booting)
Step 8:
The external and internal memory are jacked up. A fix has been provided and you will need to push it to your phone, and reboot.
Download vold.fstab here: http://www.multiupload.com/EKYF3CW39R (thanks to alterbridge)
bring up adb (if you dont know how, stop reading this, re-stock your phone and quit)
adb remount
adb push vold.fstab /system/etc
adb reboot
Your tab will reboot and when it comes back up, no more memory errors.
You've done it! You've flashed a oc'd kernel and a custom rom. From here, you can tinker with fixing the auto-rotate and gps and any other bugs you may encounter. I admit, i'm new to certain things, fixing it isn't my forte
I encourage you to post fixes/bugs here in the thread so that other sprint users can benefit from it all as there is a serious lack of development for them.
Future Updates: I'm assuming we can continue to flash whatever overcome updates come our way, we just have to then reflash the khasmek kernel and re-push the vold.fstab file. If we fix GPS, Screen orientation and it's through pushing means, that will have to continually be redone also. The alternative, someone cooks roms just for us... I myself could probably do it, however have never attempted to. If i get time, I will look into it, however, there are no promises...Maybe gingerbread/honeycomb variants will trickle out soon and we wont have to worry about it.
If you enjoy the rom/kernel, I encourage you to donate to the devs mentioned above, I myself will not require any donations, as this is merely a guide using other peoples materials. A big, big thanks again to the people who contributed to these roms, kernels and tools. Thank you!
Update 1: (4.30.2011 @ 6:49PM CST)
Fix for rotation using a method from the voodoo thread. Can either push it, or copy to usb with pc, then use root explorer or similar to move it into place (requires reboot)
"Try pushing the sensors.default.so file from bauxites thread. I have attached it.
unzip this and place it in /system/lib/hw (backup your old file just in case!)"
Update 2:
When you first boot, your keyboard is selected as "chinese". Simply change it to samsung or whatever else you may want to install...
Thanks to Bauxite!

curious if sprint can still make/receive calls send/receive messages... etc...

ah no, i meant sprint with the overcome rom and the voodoo kernel. I know there is a lot different so i'm sure it wont work, was just curious
From what I understand its only gsm that can do calling. It's either going to take aosp or some serious serious hacking to get calls on cdma. Im hoping for cyanogen, but I still cant get a stable version of that for my brother's samsung epic.

My Wifi all of a sudden quit working. I turn the Tab on, press the wifi toggle in the notification bar, and then it says "Error" and turns off.
That's interesting. This and Force Closes is why I ended up wanting Overcome over the KhasMek rom....
However, My sprint tab has not encountered this as an error, and I've flashed other modems and everything...
You might try and "fix permissions" from the recovery ... otherwise reflash again just for s's and g's.... I myself haven't seen this as a problem and have used it this way well over a week.

I wiped data from CWM 3.0 and wifi started working again. I wonder what the issue was.
I'm also curious - would this technique work for the GSM CM7 port? Or is CM7 too far away from stock?
I've tried flashing cm7 a few ways and am always unable to get it to work. I'm assuming it's because I need the pit file with it which in heimdall requires the bootloaders also. I haven't messed with oldin or heimdall command prompt...
Last night I attempted again to flash the voodoo kernel over top of the clockwork mod with the stock rom... I then used titanium to clean some junk up, so i'm basically back to stock sprint with a custom OC kernel... it's pretty nice. I'm still not satisifed fully because I know there has to be other options.

followed the guide and still stuck at the samsung screen after flashing kernel, rom kernel.
This is going to sound like critisism but I mean it as an honest sincere question. Why would anyone want to follow this guide if it breaks GPS? It's already possible to get the OC with Kazmek or Bauxite's kernels on the stock firmware with EXT4, and GPS also works fine with that other AOSP build, so what's the point of this?

the stock firmware has bloatware for any given carrier. the overcome rom is stripped of some of the nonesense without having to go into titanium and delete crap trial and error...
also, in the overcome rom, i can boot into recovery, reboot etc from the power button, whereas with the stock rom i can only power off....
not to mention, i dont have sprint and the sprint branding bothers me... custom boot etc makes me feel like i'm in control of my tablet.
the other benefit of myself and others doing this, is to try and FIX the gps, thus making this the best CDMA/Sprint option for the tablet.
etc etc etc....
thanks.

[Q] Overlocking T-Mobile G2 Question

So I finally got my T-Mobile G2 perm-rooted and i'm looking to overclock it. I've been reading around about the process but am a little confused on the whole matter. I see a method that someone posted, but it says that it will revert back to the same clock speed everytime you reboot your phone... id like to have it stay overclocked unless i turn it off.
Also, i'm reading that if i install a "Kernal" that it will stay overclocked after reboot. I'm not quite such what a kernal is and how to use one.
I'm not sure which one to pick... i see statements like "vision_oc-g9ab3677.ko is the correct one to download, but you must rename it to vision_oc.ko in order for it to work."
So there's a "vision_oc-g9ab3677.ko" and a "vision_oc.ko"... but I shouldn't use the "vision_oc.ko"? I sure use the "vision_oc-g9ab3677.ko" and rename it to "vision_oc.ko"?
this whole thing has my head spinning.
First of all, did you make a nandroid backup yet? If not, look that up.
You need to look for a specific ROM you want to run (I assume you're 1.34 and don't want to stay there).
That ROM can run different kernels that have the CPU clocked to different speeds. Many ROMs have overclocks as standard btw.
But again, my guess is you don't have a nandroid, so go for that first (basically boot up with volume button down, go to restore, backup. And then you can put a rom and/or kernel on your sd card and use the same boot menu to flash your new stuff). Assuming you have clockwork recovery running!
Good luck
As stated above, make sure you make a NANDROID BACKUP before doing anything. That way, in case something goes wrong, or you want to revert to your current setup, you can do so.
Most Custom ROMS will include a custom kernal that will allow you to overclock the phone. Some even have an overclock tool build into them (like CM7). If not, you can download and use SetCpu to control your processor speeds.
Currently, you can overclock all the way up to 1.9ghz. Most kernals top out at 1.5ghz which was been shown to be much more stable.
One thing to remember is that not all processors are created equally. For example, while phone A might handle 1.5ghz just fine, phone B might have some hiccups running at that speed. The only way to find this out is to overclock and see how your phone responds.
The phone is quite fast and zippy even at the stock 800mhz, but overclocking is nice nonetheless. Also, the ability to UNDERCLOCK is nice as well for battery usage. For example, in SetCpu you can set the max clock speed as low as 245mhz for when the screen is off and the phone is not in use...
Hope that helps! Good Luck!
thanks for the help guys...
ran into a little prob. I can't seem to get NANDROID to run or make a backup. Don't know much about it, but if i'm reading things correctly I can open ROM Manager and select "reboot into recovery" mode and when it boots back up I select NanDroid.
Only thing is, when I click "reboot into recovery" mode it trys to reboot my phone, but just get's stuck on the HTC logo on the screen and stays there. I had to pull the battery out and put back in to get my phone to boot up again.
if i hold down the volume key and power button i come to a screen with 3 droids on skateboard. the choices I have are:
fastboo
recovery
factory reset
simlock
image crc
Also, when I attempt to use ROM Manager to back up my current ROM it will not work either. I select "Backup Current ROM", then the phone turns off and try's to reboot. It does the exact same thing, just get stuck on the HTC screen and will not boot.
Did you flash clockwork mod recovery from rom manager? You need that to do any flashing or nandroid back up.
Sent from my AOSP Virtuous Desire Z using XDA App
yes, I flashed clockwork mod recovery from the ROM manager before ever trying to use the reboot in recovery function.
I can't even get to recovery area using the volume button boot method either for some reason. I get to the screen with the choices i listed a post of two above.

can i use titanium backup instead since NANDROID wont work?
I'm not sure if "titanium backup" backs up what NanDroid does. I know titanium backup will back up all data and applications. Not sure if it back's up the whole ROM or not.... i'm new to this so i'm not sure what to do or what i'm talking about when it comes to "full back-ups".
Thanks in advance for the help. I'm looking to load CyanogenMOD, but want to make sure to have a good back-up like you guys were say before I try anything out.
if your recovery is broken, you won't be flashing anything... so that's your first order of business.
within rom manager, click "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery"... I would do it twice to be safe; in the past, I have had trouble with rom mgr/CWM performing tasks completely the first time around. try rebooting into recovery (either via rom manager or through hboot [pow+vol-down]).
do you have eng-hboot installed? it will say which version of hboot you have when you turn the phone on with pow+vol-down.
edit: would strongly discourage using TiBU for backing up /system. I don't even trust it with restoring /data in its entirity. I prefer manually backing up my data (some settings, but most of them I just re-do) via terminal emulator/adb and then re-installing everything after flashing a new rom. as long as you only back up stuff in /data though, TiBU should be fine.

I’ve attempted to do the "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" multiple times; each time it tells me it's successful. But when I try to reboot into recovery it still does not work. It will not work if I try it trough the rom manager (get’s stuck on the HTC logo and I have to pull the battery out to reboot).
When I try the hboot "(pow+vol-down)" method I come to a screen with 3 droids on skateboards. I'm not sure which version of hboot I have installed, but the screen has the following readings:
VISION PUT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.82.000
MICROP-0425
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot
Sep 2 2010, 17:59:38
HBOOT
<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item
FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
FACTORY RESET
SIMLOCK
IMAGE CRC
(Not sure what to select at this point if anything... doesn't look like what was described to me as what the NANDROID should look like, so I just pull the battery out again... I believe I selected the "recovery" option the first time thinking it would get me into NANDROID, but I believe it also froze on the HTC logo again and I had to pull the battery out... but I’m not positive on that, didn’t want to keep guessing and try it again)

I did not perform the "flash the engineering hboot" section of the guide because the posted said this is the point were people brick their phones... he also said it was not needed to install a new recovery and start flashing custom ROMs, so i figured i was good to go.
not sure if this has anything to do with the prob i'm having.
not sure if I should start another thread since this one is labbled "Overlocking T-Mobile G2 Question"... and were clearly on another subject and issue now.
Sorry spampost, forgot to choose edit instead of reply after a load of copypasting
Sorry I havent checked back into this topic earlier...
Your problem is that you are flashing recovery using clockwordmod. This is a known issue on desirez / G2 and has also caused myself some grief before. Do not use that option!
Use the wiki to reinstall recovery using ADB!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...sion#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD
The only steps you would need are (assuming correctly rooted):
Download clockworkmod recovery and the flash_image and put it in the adb folder.
Open a dos prompt (run -> cmd)
Go to the adb folder
adb push flash_image /data/local/tmp/
adb shell chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/*
adb push recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.4-vision.img /data/local/tmp/recovery.img
adb shell
su
(Make sure you have priviliges; #)
# cd /data/local/tmp
# ./flash_image recovery recovery.img
Wait a few seconds
# sync
Now your recovery should work if it took all the steps correctly.
Power down, battery out, go to fastboot. Choose recovery.
Try to do the backups now and never touch clockworkmod flash image again!

Thanks for the help noboo... I ended up starting another thread since this one went so off topic of the title. I ended up getting some advice to clear the cash inside of ROM Manager and then re installing clockworkmod recovery. It ended up working and I was able to get into recovery and get a custom rom installed. And I was able to overclock it as well.
Thanks again guys.

[Q] Battery overheating, causing reboot

Okay, so I'm brand new to this board, so I appreciate any input you can give. I have an HTC Droid Incredible, have had it over a year. Have had the phone replaced 3 times due to excessive rebooting.
I have the OEM HTC extended battery, and have had numerous issues on the battery overheating and rebooting the phone. It seems to happen mostly when using the GPS in the car. Its also happened while excessively texting.
After having the phone replaced three times, I decided to root, and am now on CM7. It was working fine for a couple weeks, then rebooted again. I then took the phone to the Verizon store, and they replaced the battery. The phone still tends to reboot!
Please give me any advice you guys might have. I'm at my wits end here!
Again, Dinc, rooted, on GB, and using CM7.
Thanks!
Undervolt. Use incredikernel and incredicontrol. Drop the minium 25 or 50 and do the same to the Max.

Thanks so much, but I have no idea what you're talking about. I downloaded Incredikernel, and it bricked my phone....Any other ideas?

It bricked your phone? Can you give some more details at to what happened?
It just came back on the "HTC Incredible" white screen and did nothing. Had to reboot, and restore.
Well at least your phone isn't "Bricked". If it was your phone would not work period. How long did you let the phone sit? I'm running CM and I have Chad's latest Incredikernel and it runs like a champ! I'm assuming you are running the latest AOSP kernel correct?
I have no idea what an AOSP Kernel is, so I highly doubt I am. Last night, I had my phone in my hand for a few minutes, when to download something from the App Market, and it kept resetting. Do you think I might need to uninstall and re-install the App Market? I'm at a loss here...
CM is an AOSP Rom and needs an AOSP Kernel to run not the sense kernel. If u go to the downloads section at incredikernel.com you will see the AOSP Kernels. Download the latest version and flash it when you reboot just set the phone down and be patient. As far as the app that you installed, what app was it? You can uninstall the app and see if that fixes ur reboots
Sent from my Droid Incredible
I downloaded the kernel, and when I went to flash it from the sd card, I still get the same thing. The white "htc Incredible" screen comes on and nothing else. I've let it run for 10 minutes, then I have to pull the battery and the restore to my last backup. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks again for your patience, I'm just a little retarded when it comes to this stuff...Btw, I like your sig, I actually sell Jager, so I truly appreciate it!
I just wanted to bump this back up to the top to see if anyone else has any ideas. I did a restore to when I first rooted the phone, and everything seemed fine. However, last night, I was watching a couple Youtube videos, and in about 5 minutes the phone reset.
I have tried to flash kernels, but cannot figure that out, so I'm still using the stock kernel from CM7. PLEASE help, I'm beyond clueless, and am about to throw this phone out the window!
Thanks in advance!
If you are flashing the latest AOSP (Gingerbread) Incredikernel it should work. You can try wiping your dalvik cache in CWM and then flash the kernel again. I have read in many posts that people have waited up 15 minutes after flashing a kernel for there phone to boot. Try that and be patient.
ok so the reason why incredicontrol didnt work is because the stock kernel doesnt have HVAS. so do this.
download :http://www.incredikernel.com/wp-con...php?id=2.6.38.8-incredikernel-gb-11272011.zip
also can you tell me which hBOOT you are running and what radio you have.
to find out what hBOOT you are running please turn of the phone.
once off hold power and vol -
at the top left of the screen please post all that is there.
for radio go into settings > about phone > Baseband Version
please post this info.
boot into CWM do not use rom manager to install.
flash zip above.
reboot and wait. it should take up to 2 min for the phone to rebuild dalvik and boot into the os.
then install incredibcontrol from market.
go to the HVAS tab and lower min by 25 and max by 25.
reboot.
report back please
(note the instructions above will only work for CM7.)
Wow, thanks for all that info! I'm working on installing that kernel now, but before I do anything, I am on Baseband version 2.15.00.07.28
It also says:
Incrediblec XC Ship S-Off
HBOOT-0.92.0000
Mircrop-0417
Touch Panel-ATMEL224_16ab
Radio-2.15.00.07.28

I will report back later on with my progress.
Thanks again!
I'm trying to reboot into hboot, but now I cannot get into CWM...I have no clue what's going on! HELP!

What happens when you try to go in recovery (CWM)? Don't freak out, if you can't get into recovery you may just need to reflash it. This can be done with Rom Manager or Hboot.
Also you need to update your radio to a Gingerbread radio if you are using CM7. That is more than likely the reason your phone stays on the HTC screen after you flash the Incredikernel. If you have never updated your radio do some research first or just ask and I'll help you thru it.
I have to research the new radio... I was trying to backup from rom manager, and it still stuck on the white screen. Any suggestions on the new radio? I had no clue that it had to do that as well.

Go here http://pvillecomp.com/?page_id=18 and download the 2.15.10.07.07 (Gingerbread) radio. All you need to do is name the file PB31IMG.zip and place it on the root of your SD card, basically not in any folder. Just to be safe make sure you don't have any other PB31IMG files on the root of your SD card. Then go into Hboot (Volume down = Power button), just wait (like 5-10 seconds) and you will see that it will auto load the file. When it is ready it will ask you if you will like to install, accept by pressing the volume up button. Let it do its thing, when its done it'll ask you if you want to reboot, hit the volume up button to say yes. Make sure you have a good charge or leave it plugged in to your charger. After you do this wait and see if the phone boots properly, wait like 10 minutes or so. Let me know how that goes...
I'm at a loss here...I did just what you said, and when I get into Hboot, nothing happens....I really don't know what else to do. Is there any way to un-root the phone, and start from scratch? At this point, I cannot get into CWM, and cannot revert back to a restore, so what are my options?
Is your SD card in FAT32 format? You can check on you pc/laptop, just right click on it go to properties. If it is not in FAT32 format you will need to reformat your SD card. Before you reformat it copy everything from your card and paste it to a folder on your desktop. Then reformat your SD card to FAT32, then paste everything back to your card. This could be why your phone is not loading the PB31IMG file (The radio you are trying flash in Hboot).
Ok, stupid me renamed it .zip, as opposed to not...got the radio on there, but still cannot get it to boot into CWM. I feel I'm making a little progress. However, when I go to into Hboot, it still comes up asking if I want to upgrade the radio...It shows Radio 2-15.10.07.07

[Q] Quantum 3 RC2 - screen doesnt wake up after lock

I just performed a clean install of Quantum rom 3 RC2 and all seems to be going perfectly except that, when the screen goes off after a timeout, i cant get it back on (power button or home key). If i hit eitehr key immediately after teh screen shuts off it works fine but if i wait a few minutes, i can't get it back at all.
The screen is responsive to touch apprently (if i hit the power button and perform a swipe to unlock i get the tactile feedback. teh same with long press on power button after unlock (which usually shows the power menu)).
Any thoughts?

Probably if you have underclocked your kernel on the screen off profile that is the issue. Try to add some values. I used to have that issue.

Thanks for your response Prufta.
This is a fresh install so no messing around with under(or over)clocking or voltage has occurred.
It seems that the issue is only experienced when unplugging from charge while the screen is off (and has been for some time).
Strangely enough, it seems to happen much less often with the Nova launcher than the base 4.4 launcher.
I'll try a more systematic attempt to reliably reproduce the issue... this seems a little too inconsistent for my tastes
I'm also having some problems with Quantum RC2... It reboots pretty much every 10 minutes.
I reccomend checking to make sure the bootloader is up to date, make sure you are using the newest CWM and doing a fresh reinstall make sure to Wipe Data/Cache/Dalvik and Format /system and then install the rom and you shouldn't have any other problems. Also make sure that you have the 4.4 GApps from 11/18. If you camera starts acting up when you take front camera pictures then delete Camera 2 and Gallery 2 apk. and install the one I will attach. And if you are still having problems after that let me know.

Bootloader is up to date. latest cwm for the i747 , about as fully clean wipe as possible before this install.
Feeling kinda mentally deficient at this time in relation to your camera comment. How do i delete the camera2.apk (I assume you mean in /system/app) rofs (using es file explorer. also fail to install the apk you provided. I'm sure i'm missing some key silly thing here
