Why is it not under warranty may I ask?
bcos i am in Qatar, and i was so frustrated so i opend the back panel and take out mother board and cleaned it with alchohel. My phone is still working but it is still rebooting on due to over heat.If you know the place where i can get the new board pls let me know..
I am in similar situation as yours. Random reboots and no warranty. I asked the local HTC service, and they told me they currently don't have any in stock, but are expecting them. When I asked about the approximate price, he said it will probably be 70-80% of the price of a new device. So, this sucks for both of us
I am thinking to use this device as little as possible, for as longest as possible, and then buy a new one from another manufacturer. I lost trust at HTC, this is my second HTC device - second one with huge problem.
maybe sell it on ebay, or try trading for something else here on the Marketplace?
worth trying.. at the moment I am trying to sell my Desire.. but no luck £230, anyone? perfect condition! (will ship anywhere!)
hope this helps!
mine is the same case here.. bought it in the UK now I'm in India. Searched on the net only to find it will cost $500, and at that price I can get a brand new Desire S.. So trying to sell it on ebay.. anybody interested?
Maybe try finding a Desire on eBay with a broken screen that you could take the mobo from?
Guessing that would work out cheaper than buying a new motherboard.

not keen on ebay really
Personally, I've had no issues selling on eBay but otherwise you could try the recycling places and see what they give you
Think recycling places are like £150 ish. Pretty sure you can more than that on Ebay. Just sell it to someone in the UK if your that paranoid and just wait for your money to come through before you send it
£134 is the best you will do for recycling - there is someone offering £154.50 but they are being investigated by trading standards after numerous complaints. (see http://www.compareandrecycle.co.uk/forum/forums/122-Fone-Craze)
thanks guys
may have to ebay it then
someone in work may take it off my hands
Hi Everyone,
I have DHD now and want to buy the 1X .. i'm having an issue as i'm in Canada and they only sell the Dual-Code 16GB model. I want to buy the Quad-Code- 32GB model.
looking thru ebay and found many of them, i'm affraid of the defects, specially no one post if it's HT23 or HT24 or whatever.
also concered about return it to HTC for replacement, they will accept it or not, or there is any paper need to send with it ...
so confused ... can anyone guide me please
Thanks
I would be the same as you, after all what is the reason for someone to sell these phones on ebay.
Have you not thought about buying one from a place like amazon or some place like it that sells new phones with guarantees.

Well honestly if you want to get the quad core model, get it from a reputable seller. This HTC One X seems pretty good. They ship worldwide too. But as long as your prepared to send it away if it does have defects then you are good to go. From what I've seen the units that came from china seems to be the one that has more defects compared to units that are made from Taiwan of Singapore. That seller on eBay gets his stock from Singapore.
PS
Always check their return policy before you buy.

Like you said contact the seller and ask them about replacement if the screen has a fault and what are their procedures of replacing the unit.
Do they have to send it away first for checking before they give you a new one? Ask them specific questions about your concerns. And if you're not happy then don't get one from them. Shop around and see who has the best return policy for faulty units.
you are not stuck with anything you buy if it isn't what you thought you were getting or expected for your money. buy it, and if it's not right, then get your money back. the only time you can't do that is if you bought something with cash off of a street corner. ;p
I've been searching everywhere for a solid answer on this one. As it stands, it seems that both Irish and European law dictates that all electronic devices sold within the EU are obliged to have a 2 year warranty, which covers manufacturing faults.
It seems that the 'ribbon' cable connecting the screen to the main part of the device has become defective and i'm just wondering if anyone here would be able to give me a somewhat solid answer on where i stand with my warranty rights/status.
I'm eligible for an upgrade for on my carrier (Meteor), and it's a toss up between the One X and the S3, so i'm going to get one of these devices regardless (any thoughts on which one i should get while i'm at it?) but it seems pointless not to get my good ol' desire z repaired as it's been a joy to use especially with ILWTs ROM.
Any help you give me on answering this would be greatly appreciated! As i'm really not sure where i stand on this, and my carrier doesn't seem to be a great help with my query.

In Germany this is definitely covered by warranty. The exact same thing happened to my Desire Z (ribbon cable broken, black screen). I returned the phone to my dealer (electronic store in Germany) and they had my Desire Z repaired within 7 working days. It was all covered under warranty and did not cost a cent - they did not even care for S-OFF and Root (had Virtuous Sense 2.0 on it). At the time of the repair my phone was over one year old. So if the 2 year warranty also applies to Ireland (and my guess is it applies to all EU countries) you should be fine.

Thanks very much for responding, hopefully it does indeed apply to Ireland, i'll go down to another meteor store and try my luck there, it does all seem to point that it is indeed under warranty and i'll post here if i get have some luck getting it repaired.
Warranty and rooting
Well it does depend on the repair person. If he is a prick, he can deny to repair your rooted phone. Most of them are cool tho. If you can remove s-off, put stock rom, you will minimize chances of rejection.
So I broke my One X about 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, one of the things that broke is probably the most expensive to repair... the mainboard. I talked to HTC and they were estimating it would cost about $300+ to fix everything up. Cost to send the phone in, cost to have the phone looked at because it is out of warranty, cost of repairs, cost of sending the phone back...
So I am left with the question, do I repair or buy a new 2013 flagship phone. $300 is a lot to fix a year old phone, nearly half as much as buying a newer much better phone...
So, if you were in my shoes, what would you do?

My condolences...
I would definitely buy a new phone. I do not think it is worth the money to be fixed.
What phone are you thinking of buying?

Well, late Feb I also broke my HOX. Both the screen shattered and there were problems with the mainboard too. Everything got replaced as the HOX consists of two parts , so basically the service just "assembled" a new phone for me. It costed me 610 TRY (~ $340) and the phone it self costs 1600 TRY nowadays, ( $ 900), hit the market with 2000 TRY at first, when I bought it ($ 1110! ) So it was not that kind of a huge money for me/considering the phone price, but in your situtation, assuming you live in the United States, going with the new One (or whatever you like) might not be a bad idea.
$1110?! That is ridiculous. I'm in China and I think I bought mine for just over $600 on day 1. I guess If I were in your shoes, I would definitely repair as well.
I'm pretty much set on buying the new One, but I'm finding it hard; the One X is such a great phone, it has sentimental value as my first android phone. Anyone got a spare mainboard lying around?

Ahah, we are rich
Yes, maybe I should sell my One X for parts in Istanbul. Should give me almost enough to buy the new One, haha.
One of the pins broke off of the SIM connector whilst using a SIM adaptor and I was wondering where I might get a replacement? I have looked online briefly and I can't really find much replacement parts for this phone yet, unless I am looking in the wrong places?
I remember this happened to my SGS I-9000 and the part only cost like £5 from eBay and was modular so I am hoping this one will be as easy to replace too!
**UPDATE: It seems that unless you are an expert with a solder (and I mean expert!) then you will not be able to replace this part since it is soldered on to the circuit board rather than a modular part, so I am putting a list of places recommended by posters where you can get your G3 repaired.

Sorry to hear that I had a nano-sim to micro sim converter and that got stuck twice so I thought its not worth the risk and swapped it for a micro sim I am sure there are parts out there but as the phone is very new they may be hard to come by.

On a Google search, it seems that this is a common issue with these adapters, especially cheap ones, and other people have had the same problem too. I had figured too that due to the phone being new, there are basically no substantial source of spare parts that I can find as of yet..

Might be worth contacting this company to see if they can do anything for you in sourcing a G3 sim reader?

Found this as well although they are expensive I guess it depends on how easy it is to repair.

I wonder if someone has tried an LG G2 SIM connector off eBay or wherever and see if that one can be used since it wouldn't be more than £5/€5/$5?
I have the same issue with my D851.

You can try to claim from the actual store you bought it from rather than the LG warranty as that would be quicker but otherwise it's about a £45 repair from the sites that are offering it.
Actually, I never owned the phone but saw one on eBay that I was considering buying that had this fault but I really cannot understand why no one on here has bought the £5 LG G2 SIM part from eBay (as I had mentioned a month ago on here) to see if that one fits as if it doesn't work then you have not lost anything! That would have been the 1st thing I would have done if it happened to me as I am no way paying £45 for basically a ~50p part which I can just repair myself since all phones are modular these days.
....What kind of idiots own this phone?!

Well, I have mine on 2 year warranty and will try to get it fixed through the authorized service shop first. Will see how that goes. If it is too expensive I will search for alternatives.
