[Q] Any good 720p live wallpapers out there?

So I'm dropping a good $800 for an unlocked Galaxy Nexus tomorrow, and for that kind of money I don't want to end up using a non-HD live wallpaper that would be stretched to fill up the screen. I want to make maximum use of every extra pixel this phone's screen has to offer. So do you know any good 720p HD live wallpapers (other than the stock ones that come with the phone)?
Pretty much every wallpaper I have used filled up the screen perfectly. I really wouldn't concern yourself with whether the wallpaper will scale properly (it likely will).

That's not what I mean or what I was worried about. I want my LWP to have a native resolution of 720p, so that the image appears sharper than how a WVGA phone would display it.

Most live wallpapers are not made out of images with a fixed size. They dynamically scale (without a loss of quality) to the new size of the screen.
I was worried about the same thing as you - I used Beautiful Live Weather on my N1 and was worried that it would be blurred on my GN. In reality, BLW looks gorgeous on my GN!
Garbage! Ive downloaded about 50 or so various Live Wallpapers looking for a few to keep when its time to show off a bit. In the end there were really only a handfull that really impressed me.
Earth HD Free Edition- Shows alot of promise and looks great when it works right. The only problem is that after a while somehow the Earth moves off center to the left. Will buy full version when fixed
Inferno Galaxy- Looks as though the developer took a series of Galaxy pics and animated them to move around together. Kinda like he took a shortcut but the end result is impressive. Looks really cool on the phone.
Nexus Revamped and Nexus Cube. Just different versions of the Original Nexus Live Wallpaper.
Disappointed in the selection of Live Wallpapers that actually look good let alone work. It will get better im sure.
Then again I may have subconsciously eliminated some due to not being totally compatible with the Cyan OS graphics. I really hate being unable to change colors like this.

[Q] From a nexus s owner: galaxy nexus or windows phone?

I own a nexus s which I think is a great phone. I like android, but I also really like windows phone. I have enough save up to where I can either buy a windows phone and keep my nexus s or sell my nexus s and get a galaxy nexus. My question is this: is the galaxy nexus a big enough upgrade over the nexus s to warrant me passing up on windows phone? While I do wish my nexus s was a bit quicker, especially in the RAM department, I don't really know how the gnexus compares to it, and I would love to be able to switch between windows phone and android. (Not that I'm not satisfied by android, I'm equally intrigued by both operating systems.)
I hope you brought your asbestos underwear.
IMHO Android/Windows Phone don't even compare. Android ICS is light years beyond in usability.
Believe my Vibrant is pretty similar to the Nexus S and I'd been running CM7 on that. Upgrading to the Galaxy Nexus is a huge performance increase. It's just night and day at how much smoother everything is now.
I really didn't think my Vibrant with CM7 was that bad. But now when I go back and play with it, I wonder how I ever got anything done on that molasses POS.
I'm definitely very happy with the Galaxy Nexus.
As for Windows Phone 7, I never used one, but from the limited app store and hardware restrictions (all phones are single core with 800x480 displays), it doesn't interest me personally. Maybe Windows Phone 8, but not 7.
You probably won't get many unbiased opinions here on the Galaxy Nexus forum so I would take every response with a grain of salt.
My advice to you would be to go to a store and try out both the Galaxy Nexus and a Windows phone, then I'm sure you could come to your own decision. The only other thing to bear in mind is that the WP app market isn't as well developed but that will probably catch up over the next year or so.
I have both hd7 and galaxy nexus. The ui of hd7 is very fast, a lot faster than nexus I think.
However, hd7 does not support my language, no font, no keyboard,... IE 9 is not as good as expected, more problems than IE7. That's why I bought galaxy nexus.
I'm waiting for Tango update and will think again about which platform I should go with.

Convince me to upgrade to galaxy nexus!

I have a nexus S looking to upgrade and I just cant make up my mind between galaxy S2 and galaxy nexus. I was waiting for S3 but it's nothing spectacular and I'll rather save money by getting a cheaper phone.
I obviously love the google experience and really glad how well google supported the nexus S, they got ICS running so well on it with 4.0.4. No other android OEM supports their year old phones like that. And I am not happy at all with how samsung treated the original galaxy S and galaxy S plus.
However I am just not sure about the hardware of the GN. The screen is touted as it's major feature but then I come across this,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394358
How is that supposed to be the "best" screen? And then many tests have confirmed that the nexus has an extremely dim display compared to S2 and other amoled screens. How then is it the best display? Seems like it's just pixel density where it wins among amoled screens.
The other thing which worries me is the GPU and resolution combination. One of the only things my nexus S has really started struggling with is gaming, I surely want my next phone to be really good at it. But is the nexus very good at it with the old GPU but really high resolution?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rElZzjJk3yM
Why do I see slight lag in there? Can the galaxy nexus not run temple run at stutter free 60FPS?
Lastly I have heard the loudspeaker is on the quieter side? Another strange thing for a samsung phone, how much worse is it than nexus S?
Updates directly from Google, better screen, NFC, Next official Google Rom very likely supported. SGSIII just announced, why get an S2.
Root it and it's the best device on earth.

If you're looking for a reason to get the Galaxy Nexus and posting here you'll just get biased post. If you want it, just get the phone. Sitting there and being obsessed trying to justify your purchase won't get you anywhere, I had this obsession for like 1 week nonstop and gave in. I came from a Nexus S too.
Just do it.
Not sure whether or not to get it?
Go to a Verizon store and check it out for yourself.
I say if you aren't sure, then don't get it. Some we have a tendency to look for faults and more faults because of what we read. If you really want it on the other hand, go get it. The negative reviews you see at times will be brushed away because you like the phone you have. There isn't a perfect phone. What makes it perfect is the smile on your face every time you use it.
Just get it.
Don't like it. Return it.
Thing is, you'll love it.

I'm coming from a gs2 from tmobile and believe me the galaxy nexus is very nice. The gs2 development is slow and the phone is a bit laggy vs the GN. I say get it. Don't even bother with touchwiz and get pure Google's ics and way better development and faster updates.

I am using NS and my 1st GNex just came.
For real I don't see a better screen and a faster phone..
comparing both using stock lastest 4.0.4 rom...
Why do we need to convince you? What is in it for us?
Go to the store and play with one and see what you think.
If your after a cheaper phone than the SGS 3 i personally would say get the Gnex over SGS 2 ( i came from an sgs i9000 but my buddy has an s2 ) but its up to you.
Only you can say what you like best.
It depends how you use your phone and how much you flash it etc.
If your just a general user or a "hardcore" user.
They are both pretty much identical apart from the TW of course.
Easy; Don't think, just do it.
Sent from a Nexus is our Galaxy...
I also came from a Nexus S (just within the past 2 weeks actually), but was disappointed in the ICS experience on my Nexus S. I found it to be fairly laggy, especially with multiple apps open.
ICS on the Galaxy Nexus is a much better experience. The speaker volume on the Galaxy Nexus isnt as strong as the Nexus S, but its fine for normal use from what I've found. My screen has been just perfect too.
My recommendation is get the Galaxy Nexus if you are interested. I dont think you'll regret it. Its all the good stuff about the Nexus S plus better battery life and a better screen.
If you have a Nexus S, wait it out. See what Google has in store for Android and the Nexus program. Then invest.

honestly coming from a gnexus user.. i would say go for S3.. gnexus has a weak battery imo and isnt really that smooth( even after installing ROMs etc) compared to my older htc desire hd which is pretty stupid. the speaker is pretty soft but volume+ should fix it. if u hate touchwiz that much just flash a vanilla ICS rom on S3

Can we get the TouchWiz calendar on the Nexus?

I've currently got the Nexus but it's extremely difficult for me to get any work done with this calendar. I need the TouchWiz calendar that admittedly looks ugly but has much improved functionality.
I've even thought about selling my brand new Nexus just to go to the Galaxy S3 so I can have the TouchWiz calendar.
Any ideas?

I Sold my Galaxy Nexus and bought IPhone 5. Here is what I think

When I bought the IPhone I thought that it will have no customizations and I can't use Google apps like I did on my Galaxy nexus.
So after using my IPhone for a week. I found that (after jailbreaking) it has lots of customizations more than Galaxy nexus or any other android device. I can make any thing with my device ex. I can swipe between recent apps like Windows 8, I can download a file explorer like android.
Secondly, about Google apps. I found that Google Chrome and Google Now for IOS is about 2x faster than on my old Galaxy Nexus. And Gmail looks more beautiful. The only thing I miss from android that I can't sync my account with Google anymore.
At the end, May be because IPhone 5 is 2 years newer than Galaxy Nexus so I found that Galaxy nexus is slow and apps are not good looking. But anyway I am glad to take this step and trying IPhone :victory:
Thanks.
*sadly shakes head in disapointment
Androids, iPhones, and Windows phones all have their strengths and weaknesses, and it's up to each individual user to select the one that fits their needs and wants. I'm glad that you found one that fits yours.
I personally love the Rom selection (Mmuzzy, Paranoid, Carbon, AOKP) on the Galaxy Nexus, and I like the larger size phone as well. My wife has an Ipad and I will say some apps such as NBA Game Time and HBO GO work much better on iOS devices.
If you like iOS or the iPhone more and you can justify paying double as much as for a Nexus, go for it. I wouldn't do it, but it's up to you to choose.
Iphone is pretty nice if you jailbreak it, yes. Too bad you can't easily update the OS after.

the only thing that make me left iphone and come to world of android (a decision i am glad to make cus of my gnex) is the screen size...........

You can sync your iPhone and google account together. All my contacts, calendar events and stuff came back. It's in the settings. Secondly what you're saying is legit. I switched over to for app quality. There's absolutely nothing I did on my s3 that my iPhone 5 can't do, and do better at that. I still love android and I have a channel with great android videos. If you've never owned an "iPhone 5" not iPhone 4S, or 4. I'm talking about an iPhone 5! Then you shouldn't be judging speeds based on specs. Because in real time testing side by side or apart the iPhone out performs most if not any flagship device out today. Switch over to an iPhone for a week I bet you couldn't go back to android. Not the 4s but the 5! Give it a week and you'll see the difference in speed that a lot of iPhone 5 users are talking about. I don't like how they put the apps on the home screen but i guess that is solvable by putting them in folders to make them neater, I actually find nothing wrong with my friend's ip4s, just that i prefer android more..
