Anyone mind giving me a link to downloading only the 803.pit file?
I have seen it on the forums, but then its only downloadable with another firmware, my internet data bundle won't last if I download that too!
Thanks in advance!!

Then surely you shouldn't be using a PIT at all?

Froyo isn't available through Kies yet in SA, only in the next week or two
So I've decided to skip the wait and flash with the latest I9000XWJPA firmware, apparently the 803.pit is required, as well as re-partition with the 512.pit with the I9000XWJM8 firmware. Perhaps I'm making a mistake, terribly new to Android
For reference all PIT files and most known firmwares are available from www.samfirmware.com.
Ah, PIT files are only partition information templates for Odin to move the sizes of the internal device partitions around. Everyone should just be using the 512 PIT now as the others were just development hacks. You will already have the 512 layout so there's no reason to even load it into Odin, always just let it flash without repartitioning.
But if you're not sure, then follow the samfirmware instructions, it's making you use the 512 PIT anyway, the 803 being loaded into Odin but repartition not being ticked does nothing.

You don't need a pit or I9000XWJM8, what you need is to flash directly CODE as PDA, MODEM as PHONE and CSC as CSC...no repartition.
If you must re-partition then use 512.pit and these files from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8911755&postcount=83
You need the first download and only one of the three CSC files(I recommend XEE).
Extract once using 7-zip, then load the files as I wrote earlier and PIT as 512.pt and check Re-partition.

Do not update JHC with Odin.
If you do, you will never again get straight updates from Kies..
Also current rom will not start properly if updated with Odin (unless "modified").
Working on it.
oh i see, thanks

It seems the samfirmware website is still not working, anybody else get this to work?
did anyone test flashing that with odin yet?
Well I've just looked at and I can't see how this can work with odin... the only file in the archive is an add_jpc.tar, and then when that is opened in winrar, it contains 5 files:-
cache.rfs
factoryfs.rfs
modem.bin
param.lfs
zImage
ETA: OK I can open the cache.rfs and factoryfs.rfs files in 7zip but still they dont contain the files needed AFAICT.
If its anything like older versions you put add_jpc.tar as the PDA file.
EDIT: Like that

That's a pretty standard layout, all the files are just rolled into one huge tar file. Someone says flashing that tar with 512 pit worked for them

hello everyone,
Must say without alot of your great posts and walkthroughs i wouldn't of even considered the wicked things my little Gio can do. But i have seem to always have 1 problems when flashing my cell.
I get a "No Service" after 6 hours and can never get it to pick up my Virgin Sim card. I have tried GioPro 1.2 to 1.6, CyanogenMod 7 and 9 and even some Europe firmwares that are supposedly work with it.
So i am assuming that alot of these firmswares/roms don't work with Canada services or phones/areas or is this a common glitch in custom roms. Any help or direction on fixing a issue like this would be more then amazing right about now.
thank you all for your time
Vaughn
after flashing gioprio, it also flashed your baseband. flash a stock rom based for the m model, or flash a baseband only, wich is for the M mode, and you're fine

i have never thought of that, thank you so much. I will report back with my results!
ok this is where you guys start to hate me, tried figure out where to locate a stock baseband and i got a one package for giopro 1.0 (GioPro_v1.6.tar) and my stock firmware for bell/virgin phone (GT-S5660M_BMC_S5660MUGKG3_S5660MUGKG3_S5660MBMCKG3.tar) and finally my GIO_v1.0.ops.
but where about do i locate a stock baseband for the 5660m or am i replacing one files from the stock firmware (GT-S5660M_BMC_S5660MUGKG3_S5660MUGKG3_S5660MBMCKG3.tar) to the GioPro custom (GioPro_v1.6.tar),
i hate to be that guy but i been battling this for a few weeks.

Can you flash a ROM to get European 3G frequencies with a Canadian phone?
I could compile a .tar.md5 of the S5660MUGKG3 Baseband only if you want?
(Flash it through Odin)
Because I have a GT-S5660M model also, so I always keep a backup of Stock Rom in my PC.
SUCESS! for now that is.
I was able to create a AMSS only .tar for flashing using Cygwin Terminal and this command
cd /cygdrive/c/baseband
tar -xvf S5660MUGKG3_S5660MUGKG3_S5660MBMCKG3_home.tar amss
tar -H ustar -c amss > S5660M AMSS.tar

then was able to flash just the one package, seems to have left the other parts of the GioPro Rom installed.

Can this method be used to enable European 3G frequencies on the Gio?
Was having the same issues as OP - then realized I incorrectly flashed to 2.3.6 (for the 5660), now I'm trying to get back to stock 5660M 2.3.4 after downloading the S5660MUGKG3_S5660MUGKG3_S5660MBMCKG3 hotfile from droidangel - problem being it isn't a one file md5/tar... the rar contains like 9 files, image files and rfs. I've attached the rar contents.
View attachment 1132111
How do I use these files?? If it's not possible, does anyone have a lead on a one file for the stock 5660M 2.3.4 from Canada?
fyi, unrooted, unlocked
Thanks in advance
sob.... thought I had figured it out, went to samfirmware, got excited - their file was a different size from the droidangel...unfortunately same garbage, same list of image & rfs files instead of a single md5/tar

what a jackass I am
I'm only posting this because I have a low level of shame and I noticed a few others while googling who were having the same problem as me..hopefully this helps them
the solution and why i'm a jackass = i was unraring the tar file..hence the contents (image, rfs etc) which were not useable by odin
i was selecting the wrong file... trying to use odin to select one of the files inside the tar... after uncompressing the tar....
brutal... anyway, hopefully this helps others
Help!
Okay guys, Heres my problem... And I need guidelines because im new to all this. I installed the fake ics on my phone and because it started to limit what I could do on my phone I decided to go back to android 2.2. I used odin to go back but I think i selected the wrong Rom for my network and where I live. I live in Canada and I use Virgin mobile as my network. Now that I got Android 2.2 back I never get any network! How do I flash a new Baseband Version? and Where do I get the Baseband version for Bell/Virgin? Also If you could give me the download for The Official Android 2.2 rom and not a custom one.. it would be nice =)
It's going to be 2.3 (Gingerbread) and not 2.2 (Froyo) that you'll want to install.
There have been multiple posts and you should just have used the search function, then asked whatever questions you might have had left.
Get the MUGK3 stock ROM from here or samfirmware, flash it with Odin.
Again, simple, beginner stuff for which there are multiple tutorials. The search function is your friend.

Sobey, I got your message, but really this is the sort of discussion best kept in the thread. If you got your phone from VMC, it's a 5660M. In fact, a GT-S5660 would not work with Virgin at all.
Peteragent5: He could flash the whole stock MUGKG3 ROM with Odin and reformat /cache and /data with the stock recovery.

You could make the "About Phone" model string say anything by editing the proper file. As I've said before: if your Gio worked with Virgin Mobile Canada at all, it a 5660M. The Europe/Asia 5660 doesn't have the proper HSPA bands.
Look up the differences between the different Gio models. Now. Use the search function.
There's also one or two tutorial threads here with both Odin 4.42 and the GIO_v1.0.ops file linked.
The stock rooted ROM I uploaded a while ago, as well as the OEM one from samfirmware.com are usually the "one package" kind. If you're unsure, open the tar (or tar.md5) file with a proper archiving program (7-Zip works well and is free open-source) and have a look. There should be many files, including but not limited to: amss, arm11boot, mibib, oemsbl, qcsbl, boot.img, recovery.img and system.rfs.
Quick recap:
Flash the MUGK3 ROM with Odin.
If the phone bootloops, got in the stock recovery and do a factory reset, in other words, reformat the partitions.
Done!
Hey guys,

Hey, I am not 100% sure but I think that it would change your CSC, meaning you would no longer have Samsung Kies support. I think that is about it, BUT I may be wrong. Perhaps if you post in kyrillos13's guide, he might be able to help, or at least give his opinion! Good luck!
First, if you are rooted now, grab your CSC files. If you have Cygwin this would have been easier..
Then you can flash prerooted firmware using Odin. (Just download the ones on the thread, its lost in the pages)
Then, after flashing, if you want to flash a deodexed ROM, place the CSc files inside the ROM's zip. And you won't lose your CSC.
But im not rooted yet.... ;(
GT-I8160 DXMA1 XSP prerooted
After download extract files then open Odin and select system_rooted.tar.md5 as PDA, and csc.tar as csc.
Check: Auto reboot and F. Reset Time.
Now hit Start..

okk, thank youuuu so much for a quick and helpful reply! i just wanna say that in thaat folder there are many files...soo, i should only take pitfile.pit with the
T989UVMC6_T989TMB_T989UVMC6_HOME.tar firmware in PDA right? and add them both together with only f.reset timer and re-partition ticked right?? and flash it? right?
ok i tired it but it didn't helped it still says FAIL! i have odin v1.85 and i checked onlt f reset timer and re-partition and placed the pit file in the pit section and ROM in pda section! am i doing something wrong?!
Try using Heimdall. Use this pit file ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53455783) with the 4.0.4 stock ROM from samfirmware.com and flash it using Heimdall with repartition checked. This is what worked for me when nothing else did. I was using Linux, but there is Heimdall for windows. Make sure you install Heimdall and Heimdall frontend as the frontend makes it a lot easier. Run the frontend for the above steps.

There are good videos on YouTube, but basically decompress the tar file to get more files. All the file names match the names in Heimdall except modem which I believe is amss.bin.

I don't have a link for the drivers (I use Linux, so there is no need for drivers,) but a Google search should lead you in the correct direction. Also, make sure you run Heimdall as admin, or the device might not be recognized. To get the individual files, decompress the tar.md5 or .tar file.
You do not want to use "Load Package." Go to the flash tab. First try it without repartition checked. Use 4.0.4 from samfirmware.com with this pit file. I have an image below explaining everything hopefully.
I just saw the Windows 8.1 part. Windows 8 can sometimes cause problems with Odin, but it is worth trying Heimdall. If you have a Linux machine and Windows doesn't work, I would try that.

Hi!
I'm new here. I managed to flash a twrp recovery that didn't play well with my tablet. I tried to flash the stock ROM with Odin, but the operation failed do to fail (size), which I have read is due to need to repartition. DO any of you know how to get hold of the PIT-file for SM-T525? It is not easy to find on the internet.
Any help would be deeply appreciated!

Found pit file! Now its just not booting properly.
Hi again. Found a working pit file after much ado. Managed to flash the stock rom with the partition table with a couple of % left on the battery. It is still not booting properly, but at least firmware and recovery is back in working order and the boot loop is gone.
If you download a multiple Firmware from Sammy, the PIT file is included in the CSC image.
So you can extracted from there.

Can you please explain this a bit more in detail? Want to flash Stock-FW via ODIN, but get fail because of size of hidden.img.ext4.
From what I read until now - guess I need to flash it with a PIT. But where to get the PID file ?
What do you mean with multiparty FW. I just know source sammobile, where I can download different versions ....

Where did you get it from? I need this too.
@starbright_
Here are the link for the Download tool. Fast download from Sammy Servers.
If you check binary nature, you will download a multiple FW with Modem, CSC , Phone and Bootloader file.
Now unzip the CSC .image and you have got the PIT file for this Rom and your Tab.
@starbright_
I forget to add the link : https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
Had this tool already, but the hint "binary" was important.
Nevertheless - it still doesn't work. It tried this Odin methods (see below), both fail. No idea what is the problem !?!?
After booting into download I get this message at screen: Is this normal?
Current binary Custom
Current status: Custom
Knox: 0
Warranty: 1
Qualcom Secure Boot: enable
AP SWREV: S1 T1 R1 A1 P1
Write Protection: Enable
UDC Start

I'd try the second method (4 files) again, but:
- No pit is necessary (it's in the CSC and Odin will apply it automatically).
- Uncheck "repartition" and "f. reset time" before flashing.

I think you was trying to apply a wrong pit.
That "50M_HIDDEN" in the filename stands for something, I guess

Mh, but this is the Pit I could grab out of the binary download. So it has been a part of the image.

Out of that very "binary download" you was trying to flash?
Strange...
It looks like you was trying to flash "EUR" image and the separate pit-file was from "DBT" (German) image.
Isn't that right?
