So I love SkyRaider. I use it as my daily. Lately I have been having some problems. After a while, my phone goes from speedy to very slow. Its like watching paint dry. I have select enhancements. I use the 6-Signal Bar, Super Circle Battery, Colored Notifications, the HTC EVO Camera .apk, LauncherPro Plus, Quick Task, and GOTO. Even before LPP and GOTO it would become very slow. I used the hot boot feature thinking that it just needed a refresh. That did not help. So now, I am asking the forum for assistance. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

You might try an app like system panel, it'll help you figure out if you have an app with a memory leak. If so remove it and report it to the developer. All I know to try, wish I was more help
I had the same problem while running Kingx Kernal BFS#5, if you boot into recovery and wipe dalvik cache you should be fine. After that happened to me twice I flashed the new stock HTC kernal and have had zero problems.

Ok Im all backed up and ready to give it a go. I just have a few questions.
I don't use the Sense Launcher and have almost nothing on my home screens. just the scrolling dock at the bottom. launcher pro.
What are some things I am going to lose?
What is the differences in the Camera? Details?
What are the differences in the Dialer?
I like the dialer on Fresh 3.2 because of the FB integration.
I don't use 4G
I have not used HDMI as my flatscreen has a CPU connected already.
Is it possible to have the gallery from 3.2 with the FB pictures tab? or is that a sense thing?
Basically I don't know what all is strictly sense.
the default aosp dialer has what i consider to be a fault. you can't just spell out the name of contact. so i started using DialerOne.
dont' forget to check out both CM6 related threads (both are a bit quiet, but will answer many of the questions you may cross...search is your friend)

not sure on the FB stuff since I don't use it except to fill in the pics in my contact list.
give it a whirl. it will be a bit different.
enjoy.
Thanks Draginmagik (sportbike rider?) I had already thought out what I wanted to ask while at work and only had time to ask while on lunch. Figured Id get some input from some people who had used both but your input is appreciated to. I forgot about dialer one. That is one of my favorite things about the dialer I have. I tried Dialer One on The moment but couldn't get it to come up with the green button. I guess thats not a problem with the evo.
A few things ive noticed in Fresh 3.2 Vs Cyanogen mod is that...
Fresh's battery life (by itself, no kernal flashed) is by far the best of any of the ROMS ive used.
I like the sense camera sooooooo much more than the default android camera so thats a no brainer for me.
I do like the AOSP call history though, its much easier to navigate to and through.
Overall, im running Cyanogen right now but ill probably go back to Fresh later tonight... the battery difference is amazing.
Reading a little more I don't see where Sprint vvm / weird text message is there or not. I hated that on the Hero AOSP roms. Also want to get opinions on GPS as i need it to work at the end of this week. I will be flashing this tonight, just want to get some feedback so dont need the "just try it" post. Again, Im just trying to get a comparison so I know what to look for faster after I flash to be sure I like it before I head home this weekend. Once I get on the road and get back home, phone playtime is over until I get caught up at home . hahaha.

Have you tried Kings ASOP kernrel? Im using #3 BFS and its great if I dont use the phone but it seems to suck down pretty quick when the phone wakes up. I'm over the battery thing, I just started carrying my usb cable in my back pocket and hit up a usb plug when I see one. lol But thanks for the info. Ill keep an eye on that too.

Can you explain the difference? I just figured out on the Fresh camera that if you touch the screen it focuses on that spot. Awesome feature. Wish my real camera did that.

not sure how the stock CM6 kernel is. a few days ago the CM6 nightly was upped to the .34 kernel. the custom ROM's are mostly on the .32 kernel still. i ran Kings on CM and it was 'ok'. the UI was smooth but the battery life reminded me of my previous stock kernels. perhaps as he rolls out more kernels that will be adjusted.
Cyanogen wrote the camera app in CM6. it also has the point touch focus. it has been much improved from the default aosp camera.
c'mon...make ur nandroid and jump in the beautiful cyan colored waters.

All nanded up and flashed and restored most of my apps. Pandora sounds great. Ill test it in the shop but in the hotel its loud! I didn't Know that was a feature.
I liked the look of the dialer until the phone rang. YUK!
Im trying to finish up my Manup them but not sure if the ZIP I already have for the notification bar will work with CM6
The camera work good so far, as long as the pictures take good im OK with that. I hate 3d gallery, always have. its on my list of things to fix.
I downloaded the one in the link. Your on nightlys right? do they seem stable enough for you? whats the best way to try those out? The github link is kinda over my head.

Cant forget having the ability to zoom while recording video. That's one of the big pluses of CM.
Well I found that the stock notification bar zip that I had on file won't work. I got the little blue android of death. After a quick reflash of cm6 all is well. still need that manup theme.
i'm on the 9/15 nightly. i think it was the 'swipe away items from the notification bar' feature or maybe a camera update that got me to flash up from the CM6final.
running it with -snap 7.6bfs kernel
currently, the CM6nightlys have slowed down so you just kinda keep an eye on the thread for nifty new features or updates...other than that, it's been very very stable for me since well before CM6final was released.
now ive had cm6 for my evo for 3 days now and overall, i really didnt like it, it has horrible lag sometimes and is slow for me. i want to move into another rom, is there a process i have to go through lets say i want to go to myn's warm 2.2?
any help i would really appreciate. thank you
all u have to do is put the new rom on the root of ur sd card. go into recovery wipe cache and dalvik and flash new rom. make sure u do a nandroid backup.
or install rom manager and let an app do the hard work

I'll agree with the above. Also some people that have had speed concerns mostly saw it in the launcher, and either tweaked the ADW settings or tried another launcher and liked it. Basically the default ADW speed settings are slow.
If you notice it elsewhere (1) that is wierd, it runs very fast for most people, but I have heard of slight hardware variations making a difference before (2) a full wipe, or at least a cache wipe might help a lot.
However if you prefer some of what sense offers (different dialer, music app, look and feel, etc) then certainly don't try to stick with CM. It is great for some of us, but I think most people either really like Sense, or really don't like it.
Bear in mind that you will loose all of your data when you do a full wipe (you have to do a full wipe to change from CM to a Sense ROM). Your email/contacts/calendar are backed up to google, but your apps and app data (game saves for example) aren't. Titanium Backup is the most commonly recommended method to back up that data, but isn't always 100% problem free. Most of the time it works fine though.

im in love with cm6 dont get me wrong, it gave me the default android feeling and i love it more than sense, but there are so many bugs cm6 has. it doesnt feel stable to me. there would be lag spikes in the homescreen from switching from page to page.(i only have 5 pages and only 4 widgets) when i would text sometimes is just lagged!!! so much and it got me frustrated. then with the service right now idk if its cm6 or just sprint but im getting HORRIBLE service. in places where i get 3g full bars i barely get 3g bars. and where places i would get probably 2-4 bars i get 1g with ZERO bars. there is still work need to be put into this rom, i havnt decided to switch yet but im still ganna test it for another while. and another thing is that the battery is horrible on my evo. when i get home from school its completely dead. is there a way to get longer battery life? maybe another kernel that fits cm6 perfect? if anything let me know please!
thank you all.
Myn's TwoPointTwo all the way!

Can anyone explain any of the problems I'm having?
Sent from my cm6evo using XDA App
I just got my Defy today and started reading up on some stuff. I got a couple questions that hopefully someone will be kind enough to answer.
Firstly, I wonder if my back cover is loose, cause it seems that I can still push down the bottom part a little so I wonder if anyone else has this problem? Its not really noticeable but it really bugs me though I'm thinking to get a case anyway.
Okay, well I rooted the Defy using z4root and it worked perfect
I have a question about the task manager though, it shows a a lot of apps running but its says CPU 0% , RAM xx.xMB. Should I manually end task all of these apps or just leave it?
Last question for now is about my custom wallpaper not being centered when im on the lockscreen. I know it's nothing but little things like this bothers me xD. Is there a way to fix this? I disabled wallpaper scrolling so on my homescreen the wallpaper is centered but not when im on the lockscreen.
I'm still reading around about rooting, editing themes, and such..it would be cool to change some colors around. So far this phone is pretty awesome for my first smartphone/android.
Great forum btw! Thanks all
i can push my back cover a bit, but I think it's nit a problem
I was using app killer on my stock rom, but now i'm not.still cannot decide. Honestly, it'a good thing, and i'd instal it. I cannot comment on a wallpaper, I'm using the scrollable one. You can try a program widgetlocker, it allow more locksvreen tuning. BTW, you can cut your wallp, to the phone's resolution.that'd solve your problem
A taskkiller for defy is not necessary cauz u have no energy consumption if apps are loaded into ram - and there is quite a lot of ram available, while manually starting an app consumes energy every time. Only for data using apps like skype i use a task killer.

thanks guys.
everything is working great. Good phone
I am farely new to all of this stuff. I recently installed MIUI 1.3.25. Now after the HTC EVO 4 white screen, it loads the unlock screen, and prepares the SD card, and then freezes. So I pulled the battery out and tried several more times with the same results. WHAT DO I DO????
First of all welcome!!!!
Hmm... try wiping EVERYTHING twice and reflashing.
Thanks. That did work. Until I went into my SET CPU APP to overclock and then it froze again. Is there something that this ROM has against the APP? I am just trying to overclock it. Any recomendations?
yes im guessing you overclocked it too far dont hit or go past 122. plus why even have it that high? so to sum it up, tune it down a bit.
I can't figure out why I'm getting such low Linpak scores on this ROM. I was getting better scores with Sense and this ones supposed to be FAST!
You don't need to worry about quadrant/linpack scores...if it react and perfoms fast be happy.
I guess my expectations were to high. I have read a ton of threads and they all say how fast these Gingerbread ROMs are. It lags just when I scroll through the APPs and hit the HOME button or type a text message.
Lol, let it set in. Also check your minimum cpu usage.
*Deep-breaths* We'll just take baby steps. Learn a little more everyday. Thanks a ton. Any ideas off the top that would help send me to bliss would be appreciated otherwise I will continue reading.....
If you read throughout all of the MIUI threads, the Gingerbread versions are buggy right now. I'm not moving back to MIUI until they get the bugs gone.

If you download VM Heap Tool from the Market and set the heap size to 40 or more, it should get rid of your lag. It will also prevent a lot of launcher force closes.
As has been stated, MIUI has only had two three Gingerbread releases so far, one of which was only on the Nexus S, and there is still a lot of work to do. If you check it out in a couple weeks, most problems should be ironed out, and MIUI will once again be as fast as you've heard. In the meantime, the 1.3.18 Froyo release, which you can find HERE, has been well-recieved.
Hello All,
I been a rooted HTC Desire user for quite sometime and my missus dislikes this very much because every month I will be stuck at my computer searching the XDA forum for my ideal ROM.
I know it is all down to personal preference and I have done a fair bit of searching before starting my own thread. (Also I have less than 10 posts so its a good start)
What I want in a ROM is fast and smooth as a prio.
Good battery usage and Stable.
Possibility to use a ext3/4 partition.
Not so import:
I love the ICS look and launcher but having used ADW Launcher and GoLauncher I prefer to just have a launcher built into a ROM. This made me find MildWild 4.3 and 5.0
I been using Oxygen 2.3.2 for quite sometime at the moment and never really had any problem apart from the very occasional soft reboot (Where the home screen reloads and welcome message appears)
So I tried MildWild 4.3 based on Oxy which so many people praised where the first thing I did was go into Spare Parts viewed battery history and BAM, Force Closes. So tried a full wipe but this still kept happening.
So I tried 5.0 but for some other reason that I cannot recall I was not getting a long with this (I think the lack of T9)
So yeah, what do people think would be ideal for me? I been watching Sandvolds work for sometime and even used the ICS rom but I would prefer a fully stable ROM that I can use day to day and take pictures of my family.
Sorry for the wall of text but hopefully people can give me their opinions. :highfive:

Thank you for taking your time getting those links abaaaabbbb63
Just flashed MW 5.0, nice performance so far. Only thing that crashed was the Cynogen mod settings but I presume that is because it was modified by MildWild.
I'm starting to regret the day I made my username.. people calling me Abaaaabbbb...
Anyways, your welcome.

The cyanogenmod settings under settings? It shouldn't crash
The battery tap under spare parts, yes, it crashed on mine also and crashes on some roms. So not to worry there
Sorry about replying, I know it's been answered but just clearing that up
No, the Cyanogenmod settings are great, always have been when I using CM7.1
But when you dive right in under the System and Update Notifications, but when I looked in the development thread it seems MW stripped out that feature
Didn't need it anyway.
Thanks for posting!
