So i was using Fresh 3.3 up until last night and decided to try Myns. When i used fresh, i tried a few kernals (king 9, 11) as well as a netarchy one and everytime i tried to check battery stats or something, the phone would just reboot. I figured it was just something with fresh and just went back to the stock kernal and moved on.
So after moving to myn, i decided to try these kernals that everyone is talking about and i figured since myn himself even tested king 11 with his rom, it would be trouble free for me, but the same issues occured...my phone would just randomly restart at times, and i can reproduce the restart by checking battery stats in settings.
So i understand some kernals work differently for different phones, but i just want to make sure im not missing some important step when flashing a kernal.
What i did was wipe everything x3 and flashed new rom yada yada yada, then rebooted to load the rom first time, then turned off and booted back into recovery. I wiped cache partition/dalvik x3 and then flash the kernal. This correct right?
that is the correct way to flash a kernel. have you tried to see if you can duplicate the error witha stock kernel? (ie the one fresh coems with i think myn might too but not 100%) If you get the error with stock it is likely not the kernel itself causing the problem.
also try wiping battery stats and see if it fixes it
hello,
Everything is fine with a stock kernal, never get a random reboot and stuff like that. Its wierd...i tried using many different types of kernals and each and every one of them i can reproduce the random reboot by checking battery stats or even updating profile.
But i will try the battery wipe stats thing to see if it works. but just to be clear, do i wipe stats before or flashing the new kernal? and do i wipe when its fully charged or just whenever?
Thanks.
You should probably wipe battery stats after you flash the kernel and with a full charge. Which kernel scheduler are you using CFS or BFS? I noticed that BFS tends to cause random reboots on my EVO so I've stuck with CFS versions. Used KingKlick #11 CFS with Fresh 3.3.0.1 and everything runs smoothly for the most part, but there are a few reboots when I'm underclocked with setcpu during low battery profiles.
thanks for the info i will do that, and i tried both CFS and BFS versions of kingklick and all give the same result. I will try kings 11 CFS first with the battery stat wipe.
Thanks for the info, will post back if any issues occur.

Hey guys,
I've beenr unning DeFrost for a while but recently encountered some lockups during heavy usage (Navigation etc). The lockups then occur more often for a while unless I refrain from using the phone.
I've tried several ROMs and radios and I get the same issue. Sometimes it locks up in standby, and sometimes in use. Occasionally I'll get a reboot too.
I've just cleared all the caches etc and am installing the rooted 2.2 stock rom frome here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773997
Does anyone have any other ideas which may help me sort this out?
Thanks!
Ok, still getting reboots with the rooted 2.2 stock rom...
I might try underclocking the cpu with setcpu... I've took the sdcard out too.
Don't use setcpu. Looks like your device can't handle oc.
I haven't been using setcpu, I was just about to install it to help me underclock.
Its just reset twice on the rooted stock rom, with no sd card in. Could it be a battery temperature thing? I was browsing the web when it rebooted...
did u wipe everything before flashing the new rom...? or just clear the cache..?
Full wipe of everything that I could wipe in clockwork.
Edit: Except the options to individually format boot etc.
Moved to Q&A. Please don't post question threads in Development.
A lot of people have been having this problem have a look at this thread, seems like there isn't a proper fix for it yet.

I am running CM7 on my EVO and for some reason every now and then the phone decides to reboot on its own. Is it something within CM7? DId the fix it if others were experiencing the same problem? I haven't d/l the newest one as of yet. Thanks in advance.
You can get the random reboots if you didn't flash correctly, or over clocking too high. So I would suggest to:
-Download the latest version
-perform a full wipe [factory/data, cache, dalvik]
-flash latest gapps
And you should be good to go.
It's great

What kernel are you running? Some kernels are undervolted quite a bit, and some phone's don't tolerate undervolting well. Reboots can possibly result. I had flashed the 3.3.7 Tiamat kernel the other day, running salvage mod. I was getting major and constant reboots. I used ViperBoy's overvolt script, and I've had no reboots since. My phone simply doesn't like to be undervolted, and getting rid of the the undervolt fixed it. So possibly if your kernel is undervolted a lot, your phone may not agree. So consider flashing viperboy's over volt script. His thread is in the dev section.
Hi there all, first post and its great to be here. On to the question or request rather. I have recently rooted my EVO using revolutionary (great work by those guys), and originally flashed cm7, I started searching around for new roms and flashed synergy+godmode rls1, now I'm looking to increase the battery life by flashing a custom kernel, the only problem is, every time Ii do so, it gets stuck on the white HTC screen.
I have let the phone sit for about 20 minutes before doing a battery pull. I tried lithids kernel and golden monkey to no avail. Am I doing something backwards or is there an issue elsewhere? I have wiped cache, data and dalvik cache.

I'm going to take a guess at it since your not on right now and I'm about to go to bed, but Im going to venture out and say that your probably using clockworkmod as your recovery. Download and install amon ra 2.3. Wipe what you wiped before 3 times and try to flash again. If this wasn't the case please disregard this reply.
sent from my nike crushing Godmode Synergistic EVO!
i use also Amon_Ra recovery.and didnt encounter any problem on flashing kernels and rom.
Synergy Godmode Rsl1+Aggressive Freedom kernel+cpu overclock = superfast Fast Evo
I just switched over to Amon Ra, and attempted to flash the Aggressive FREEDOM-Synergy GODMODE kernel, i still just get the HTC EVO 4g white screen for ever.
It's been approximately 10 minutes sinced I flashed the kernel and the phone has done nothing but stare at me with it's googly white screen...
I wiped data/cahe/dalvik-cache three times as instructed but I still have no success?
EDIT:
Android Version: 2.3.3
Sense Version: 2.1
Software: 4.24.651.1
PRI: 2.15_003
Kernel: 2.6.35.10
Baseband: 2.15.00.05.02
Build: Synergy (RLS1 + GodMode)
Hardware Ver.: 0004
Problem solved
Seems as though the Agressive-Freedom-GODMODE kernel has something wrong with it, or my phone does not take too kindly to that kind.
I flashed the Aggressive-Freedom-UNIVERSAL kernel and it works just fine. Thanks for everyone's time.
side note:: If the flash works properly it should say "Congratulations youre now running Lithid's sense kernel" (or something along those lines). Which I did not get previously.
New edit:: since I could not find a fix for the wifi, I flashed my recovery and have. Not been able to flash a new kernel since. Basically what I am looking for is a kernel to be able to OC and undervolt, not sure if synergy supports this or not. If not that's fine but, ant Roman out there that may be slightly better than synergy godmode with some sense 3.0 features?
I've been having a problem with my phone hot rebooting every 30 seconds to 5 five minutes. It's driving me up the wall. I can barely even use it, since half the time I have no data, and the other half by the time I can get anything open, the phone is rebooting.
I've tried:
- Changing ROMs (Juggernaut 2.5 to 2.6 and back to 2.0; Bombaridier; EagleBlood; Streamlined)
- Changing kernels (stock, Jugs, Bullet, whatever kernels come with the ROMs mentioned above)
- pulling the SD card
- formatting the SD card
- fixing permissions
- factory/data reset, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik every time I flash
One thing I did notice... the last ROM I tried was EagleBlood, and it was fine for half a day. I charged it overnight, and, thinking my problem was solved, I decided to calibrate the battery. After wiping battery stats, it's rebooting over and over again.
I just unrooted and took it back to stock to see if that does anything.
In the meantime, any ideas? Please help... I'm getting ready to tear my hair out.
normally the reboots are due not Wiping, but you did say, you Wiped, so it should be fine
did you OVER Volted the CPU at any point?
No. I overclocked and undervolted when on Juggernaut/Jugs, but at no point did I ever overvolt.
how aggresive were your overclocks. because that could be the problem itself
or if the kernel is undervolted and the cpu's dont like it .
Max 1.89/min 384 and UV -2500 when on Juggernaut, but after I started having the problem, I didn't even install SetCPU anymore. When I was on EagleBlood, it wasn't OCed or UVed at all, didn't have SetCPU installed, and it still rebooted all the time.
OK, I've been unrooted for a couple of hours and no rebooting. But being unrooted sucks! I don't even want to think about re-installing all my apps without Titanium Backup.
So I just Odin flashed CWM and am flashing the SGH-T989 // UVKID // Stock // Deodexed // Rooted //Busybox ROM so I can at least run TB and get all my apps back. Then we'll see what happens.
I'm afraid to calibrate my battery though... Haha... I think the FIRST time I started having this problem was after a battery stats wipe. And then after running EB with no problems for several hours, after wiping battery stats... BOOM! It started happening again. But why would wiping battery stats make this happen?
your using CWM for everything? or RM?
CWM. I've never used RM... Should I?
OK, after restoring everything with Titanium Backup, it's doing it again. So it's gotta be an app... right...? How on earth do I figure out which one?
this is why i never use Titanium backup
your going to have to install each app one at a time to see which is causing conflict
I just have the same problem, keeps rebooting basically every 30 seconds to a minute... and it is not rooted, no new apps but I did update the firmware via Kies in the morning, it only started rebooting in the middle of the night, had to shut it down to be able to sleep.
No idea what to do...
The phone is useless as it is.
Any hints are welcome, thanks.
Hey guys,
I'm running Calkulins latest and greatest buily along with the rogue ET 1.1.3+ kernel and have had nothing but problems since doing so.
To name a few, the LOS bug has hit my phone. This was never a problem previously when I was stock. I'll notice it's searching for service and doesn't get resolved until a reboot.
Second, I'd say 25% of the time I reboot the phone it gets stuck on the custom boot screen that Calkulins has.
Thirddd, I've noticed huge delays in emails and notifications in general.
I've tried flashing again, any ideas?
What sometimes helps me, instead of rebooting altogether. Enable 4G, let it connect, then turn off 4G.
It happened to me when I get out of a tunnel on the subway. Or is that not really the LoS bug that everyone's been reporting?
I had the same problems. Random reboots, LOS, and freezing. I did a full wipe(data, cache, dalvik). Then I re-flashed the rom, I let the phone do a full reboot. Then I went back in to recovery and wiped just cache and dalvik and flashed Rogue Stock v1.1 kernel and let the phone reboot all the way. Then I updated profile and prl in system updates, and then rebooted phone again. I haven't had any problems with the stock kernel from rogue. I think there is a problem with the 1.1.3 kernel. I have had it on the starburst rom and vipor rom and it does the same thing. I used rogue's stock kernel on starburst too and never had a problem. Also I flashed tiffany's nothin but honey theme for calk's 1.5a rom and looks amazing. I did the theme flash last after everything else. I hope this helps.
