[TROUBLESHOOTING] Reboot... Reboot... Reboot... Arghhhhh - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I've been having a problem with my phone hot rebooting every 30 seconds to 5 five minutes. It's driving me up the wall. I can barely even use it, since half the time I have no data, and the other half by the time I can get anything open, the phone is rebooting.
I've tried:
- Changing ROMs (Juggernaut 2.5 to 2.6 and back to 2.0; Bombaridier; EagleBlood; Streamlined)
- Changing kernels (stock, Jugs, Bullet, whatever kernels come with the ROMs mentioned above)
- pulling the SD card
- formatting the SD card
- fixing permissions
- factory/data reset, wipe cache, wipe Dalvik every time I flash
One thing I did notice... the last ROM I tried was EagleBlood, and it was fine for half a day. I charged it overnight, and, thinking my problem was solved, I decided to calibrate the battery. After wiping battery stats, it's rebooting over and over again.
I just unrooted and took it back to stock to see if that does anything.
In the meantime, any ideas? Please help... I'm getting ready to tear my hair out.

normally the reboots are due not Wiping, but you did say, you Wiped, so it should be fine
did you OVER Volted the CPU at any point?

No. I overclocked and undervolted when on Juggernaut/Jugs, but at no point did I ever overvolt.

how aggresive were your overclocks. because that could be the problem itself
or if the kernel is undervolted and the cpu's dont like it .

Max 1.89/min 384 and UV -2500 when on Juggernaut, but after I started having the problem, I didn't even install SetCPU anymore. When I was on EagleBlood, it wasn't OCed or UVed at all, didn't have SetCPU installed, and it still rebooted all the time.

OK, I've been unrooted for a couple of hours and no rebooting. But being unrooted sucks! I don't even want to think about re-installing all my apps without Titanium Backup.
So I just Odin flashed CWM and am flashing the SGH-T989 // UVKID // Stock // Deodexed // Rooted //Busybox ROM so I can at least run TB and get all my apps back. Then we'll see what happens.
I'm afraid to calibrate my battery though... Haha... I think the FIRST time I started having this problem was after a battery stats wipe. And then after running EB with no problems for several hours, after wiping battery stats... BOOM! It started happening again. But why would wiping battery stats make this happen?

your using CWM for everything? or RM?

CWM. I've never used RM... Should I?

OK, after restoring everything with Titanium Backup, it's doing it again. So it's gotta be an app... right...? How on earth do I figure out which one?

this is why i never use Titanium backup
your going to have to install each app one at a time to see which is causing conflict

I just have the same problem, keeps rebooting basically every 30 seconds to a minute... and it is not rooted, no new apps but I did update the firmware via Kies in the morning, it only started rebooting in the middle of the night, had to shut it down to be able to sleep.
No idea what to do...
The phone is useless as it is.
Any hints are welcome, thanks.

[Q] Android.process.acore not found? Bootlooping?

Hey all, I'm having a problem that I can't seem to figure out at all. Last night I flashed Myn's 2.2, the colin_ph battery tweak, and the stock kernel that is modded to be able to run the tweak. I also flashed the riptide theme and couple add ons to it as well. I backed all my apps and data up with Titanium backup pro prior to flashing anything. Before I went to bed last night, I put my phone down while titanium was restoring everything. This morning when I woke up, I played around with it for about an hour, made sure that the battery tweak was running correctly, and surfed the web a little bit. I then remembered that Titanium recommended to reboot after a restore when switching from a custom rom to a custom rom( I was running CM6 and Snap7.6&turbo beforehand). So after rebooting, before my homescreen can even load I get a error that says "adroid.process.acore" not found. And another one that I cant remember, and from that point on it just keeps boot looping. This has happened 3 times in a row, so I know that something is wrong.
Any ideas of how I can fix this? When I restore my base Myns2.2 Nand backup I have no problems at all, or even when I reboot with all of the above mentioned flashed before restoring my apps and data with titanium I have no problems, only after doing the initial reboot after installing all apps and data do I have this problem.
Update: Just rebooted with Myns2.2, battery tweak, and theme and had no problems what so ever, so I know that somewhere in the process of restoring my apps and data and then rebooting following that, something is going wrong.
Try wiping your dalvik-cache and see if that helps

[Q] Multiple Reboots

Today I was playing a game on my phone, all of a sudden, starts rebooting, then again, then again...After about four times, I had enough. Went into recovery, wiped all user data, cache, and davlik. Rebooted from there. Phone turned on, then started doing the same thing. At that point I tried a nandroid I made a couple days ago, but it still kept rebooting. Tried reflashing Synergy, of course I wiped everything again, but kept rebooting. Finally I ran a PC36IMG of the stock rom that I kept when I first rooted my Evo. Seems to have worked out because I'm not rebooting anymore. Now for my question, Can somebody explain what may have caused that to happen? I've been running Synergy for about two months and have had no problems. I generally don't overclock, but underclock when screen is off, and other big battery drainers. I was also running Freedom .9
Oh yeah, almost forgot. I've been lurking around your site for months and many of you have helped me out and don't even know it. So...THANK YOU!
Ok. Well I apparently do need help. Was able to run the 4.54 stock OTA rooted. Then tried Synergy, then MikG. Both are restarting non stop. I'm about to throw this thing through the window, go to Sprint, and get a cheapo phone.

Constant Rebooting

Everything has been fine until yesterday morning, when at work I realised my phone was rebooting every 3 or 4 minutes.
I hadn't changed anything, I hadn't flashed anything, I don't O/C my phone. I'm usins AOKP Milestone 3 with Immoysen Kernel.
I've tried -
Reflashing AOKP with no custom kernel
Wipe & flashing CM9 Kang
Wipe & flashing MCR
When I tried to make a Nandroid of MCR (as it seemed to be okay for an hour or so) it gave an error when it got to backing up the data partition. Could their be a corrupt bit of memory there?
Also, at one point I think it might have reset while in recovery, which makes me think it's hardware, not software.
Today I've tried -
locking and unlocking the bootloader
Android_Revolution_HD_Super_Wipe_Lite
Wipe and flash AOKP B23
Generally it seems to be better after a wipe and a fresh install, for a little while, but then seems to start rebooting again later.
I locked and unlocked again around an hour and a half ago and all seems good at the moment, but I thought I'd post still to see if anyone else has had this happen or see if anyone has ideas of how to de-bug it should it come back?
I had this problem after upgraded to 4.0.2. Fresh install did solved this somehow but last week it came back again when dial starts...
Tho it seems un-checked all options in location services would not reboot during or after the call
Hope this info could help u
Thanks. Well, 6 hours since I locked the bootloader and unlocked it again (to wipe everything, including the SD storage) and it's not rebooted once. Looks like it's fixed *touch wood*
I have random turn offs... dunno if it relates. Its a little unnerving...and annoying. No roots, no unlocks, just vanilla 4.0.2.

[Q] Problem with Omega 12 + Perseus 33.3 start up screen lasts forever

HI Guys
I'm an old iOS user but switched to android 2 months ago with a wonderful Note 2 International running android 4.1.1

after one month of use I decided to root my device for VPN service and custom ROM benefits

Everything went fine. First rooted with odin 3.07, then decided as most of users recommended to flash ARHD 11.2
After using my device for 2 weeks I noticed poorer battery performance. 4 days ago, After a lot of searching online I decided to flash Omega 12 then Perseus 33.3 for better battery performance and better control of my CPU.
That's what I did. First, wiped all data through CWM then installed Omega 12 ---> Perseus 33.3 ---> clean cached data ----> restored my apps through titanium ----> fixed permissions ---> charged my mobile to 100% then wiped battery stats ---> set gpu to 440mhz and cpu scaling --> frequency responsiveness to 600mhz === every thing went very good with wonderful performance and battery life with 40 hours battery life ,more than 7 hours onscreen and also did couple of successful restarts to change SIM card .I thought that's it "I will stick with this system forever no matter what."
:highfive::highfive::highfive::highfive:
As I said, after 40 hours of battery life my battery died so I put my note 2 with the recharger while off because it was night time. Next morning, I unplugged my phone then turned it on but my startup screen keep showing the big robot walking with no ending for 30 minutes. Tried to restart the phone couple times, searched online for a similar issue but nothing related to omega and Perseus, wiped cache, dalvik but still the same.
:crying::crying::crying::crying:
Finally, I restored an image through CMV contains my 4.1.1 old stoke ROM + factory kernel just after rooting. My smartphone now is working fine.
My question now is "Why did it happened? Did this happen with anybody before with the same circumstances? and what is the possibility of this happening again if I tried to flash a custom ROM or a new kernel?
I'm ready for any questions

Firstly, NEVER let you battery die completly, it is not good for the overall life of the battery.
Secondly if that ever happens boot to recovery and clear dalvik cache and fix permissions. This will usually help.
It's hard to say exactly what cause this issue without a log.
Also, please keep regular backups through your preferred recovery, as this will help if you need to go back.
Cheers,
Evil.
Thanks for the tips.... really appreciated

same
same thing happened to me exactly .
same rom same kernel
i couldnt even restore a previous backup of omega from a week ago - it just wouldnt restore without rebooting !!
also, for my note 2 to work again i had to reflash my recovery (twrp) via odin and reinstall my rom.
i had a whole load of other issues and in all honesty im almost thinking i may have a broken NAND chip - sudden death - not quite, but im patched for that, but may be a small fail on the chip had caused this event , i really dont know.
im back to normal now but im stll very worried about the next few days - please read my other post where i explained this fault at the time it happened.

thanks.
.
I will look at it... but I think in the mean time I will stick with my original stock and kernel for a while till I have the courage for another rom/kernel trial

Phone won't reboot without clearing cache in recovery

About a week ago I noticed that every time my phone dies I have to clear the cache before it turns on again. If I don't it stays stuck at the HTC One screen forever. At first I thought this was isolated to the phone dying, but now whenever I try to restart regardless of battery level I have the same issue. It's extremely annoying since it takes at least ten minutes for the all the apps to optimize (331), and if my phone dies I know it'll be a while before I can use it again. Plus, the whole process ends up using battery.
Does anyone else have this issue, or know how to resolve it? I've never had this happen before, and I have no clue what could be causing it
I'm on ARHD 45 Lollipop 5.0.1, with the latest ElementalX kernel and Xposed installed.
I don't know what would cause this but my first step would be to do a full wipe in recovery (dalvik, cache, data, and system) and then reinstall the ROM. If that didn't work I'd do a full Ruu back to stock LP FW. Then see if it does it on the stock ROM. If it still does it then I'd say you something wrong with the hardware.... But I'm really not an expert in these phones. Hopefully someone more experienced than me will come along with more insight.
Thanks for the advice, I'll try that out last resort, gonna wait and see if anyone else has a solution. A little tedious for me to go through that process right now, I'd rather save that for later.

Any battery saving xposed apps? If you're running anything other than greenify try disabling them then restart. Also do the same with anything that involves monitoring wake locks.
