Ok
The first time it showed up (when activating), it offered the OTA update and I declined. Then I took it home, rooted the phone, and everything went well...
BUT I can't find the OTA update anymore... and the SD card bug is killing me!!!!
Is there any other way of installing it?????
From the main screen
Menu - Settings - System Updates
Check all 4 to see if any updates are available but im pretty sure "HTC software update" was the OTA
Actually go over to android central and download rvu 1.1 its based on the newest ruu with that update included and its still rooted
Btw this should be in general section not development
I know, but it keeps telling me that there is no update available!!!
And I am running
Baseband: 1.39.00.04.26
Build: 1.32.651.1 CL171253 test-keys
Software: 1.32.651.1
And it keeps telling me YOUR PHONE IS UP TO DATE
Is there any way to force it????

But, that ruu is missing may of the included apps (all the sprint and HTC ones, and I need them). Also, it wipes all the information....,
So, no other way?
Besides I read that that particular ruu kills the 4g radio...
So, I am the only one or most of you are running without the OTA update?
I like to root, in fact the wifi tethering is working great, but the SD issue is really annoying....

i too couldn't get the update to re-show up after not accepting it the first time. i went to system updates and tried both htc and firmware, and the OTA update still wouldn't show. Then i enabled wifi, soft reset, and boom, it showed up. Give it a try, worked for me....

If the root changed your recovery you likely won't get OTA's anymore.

Ok, that's what I was suspecting...
So.. what are my options now? Is there a way of getting the updates manually? or is there a way of changing the recovery back or modifying some settings to re-allow updates?
I had the same problem after installing one of the custom firmware images. Never could get the OTA to show up. I ended up installing the stock .6 firmware using the RUU.
Look for the "[ROM]RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.6" thread in EVO 4 Android Development. (sorry, new user account on the forums, it won't let me post links yet).

Yes, BMC means Bell Mobility Canada, check the screen shot. I used the reg hack to spoof JG9 and also used BMC

Already loaded it. It kills the GPS. No GPS lock at all, despite different settings! It detected 1 satellite when normally it detects 10.

Yes- there are weird force closes sometimes when you restart. If you touch anything on the screen it will go completely blank. Now I wait until everything loads until I touch anything.
Seems less stable than JK4. I'm wondering whether I should revert to JH2 before my SD card crashes.
Just an update: I've tried many different GPS settings on JL2 and the GPS does not work. The best setting I got was with Auto-config + secure socket and even then it found 3 satellites and never locked on for 15 minutes.
Does anyone have another solution? Can I load a GPS kernel from another ROM? JPO had worked perfectly.
for me personally my GPS got ****tier after going from 2.1 i'm running JK4 right now and it's OK but not like it was in 2.1. i'm going to give this a shot and see how my device fairs. my hardware is an august build or earlier so might affect my device differently. not sure, will report back though
LOL....after downloading the binary Kies tries to decrypt it and I get an error that says "crypto error" that's it. so looks like i'll be running JK4 for a while longer now, not that it's a huge issue, This one is apparently only 2.2.....still waiting for the 2.2.1 with the upgraded kernel.

The crypto error is a known problem- it just means that the download got interrupted and the files were corrupted. Just keep on trying until it works. The problem is on Samsung's side, not yours.
I got the crypto error, but it worked on the second try.
Be forewarned though- this firmware has problems. See my posts above.
I'd give this a try but I've been flashing so much lately and it's just becoming a pain. I'm currently running JK3 as I've found this to be the best firmware so far. Great battery life, fast w/no lag, good GPS and stable. JH2 was good but didn't have the 2.2 features I wanted. JK4 wasn't very good, unstable at times, random wifi issues and used battery at twice the rate of JK3.
The next ROM I flash will either be the next official if it greats good feedback or CM7/AOSP Gingerbread when it's available.
I'm still curious and looking forward to hearing more reports from users running JL2.
I ported Android Froyo 2.2 into my Tilt 2 about 2 weeks ago and it was working perfectly and all of a sudden my Phone and Power/Home(key on top) stopped working. In addition, when I hold the End/Power key it only gives me the option to Power Off phone, when before it gave me options to silence/vibrate. I tried searching but no luck... any suggestions?

BLAZN has a very old version of Froyo. The Power Button Ends Call option isn't in the rootfs.img. It's in the system.ext2. You should be able to get the option by upgrading to a newer Froyo system.ext2 like FRX03.

Ah, you're talking about Sovereign's update utility which is rolled into Reefer's packages. I can't say that I know a whole lot about that since I don't use it. There's a way to check within android however. Go to launcher and click on Settings. Next scroll all the way down to About phone and click on that. Finally, scroll down to Build number and post what it says for that.

It's a TON easier to just use spare parts to remap end to home.
The other method is not so easy, until we get a startup.txt option to change it.

lol no the keys were not working at all so I don't think that would have worked.
Hi, I will try to be as consice and thorough as possible since I looked for it but didn´t find a similar post.
I bought a USA's A100. I had it with its factory rom, rooted and working fine.
The last week I saw an OTA upgrade and applied it (a short file) thinking it was to migrate to ICS. Then, after reset, it showed me a larger OTA upgrade: Acer_A100_041.202.01_COM_GEN2 (right now it's at HC 3.2.1 A100_2.013.02_COM_GEN2). First it gave me the known network problem message, but finally I downloaded and applied the OTA file, it failed showing an android with an exclamation point, and after one minute, reset itself to the menctioned HC.
I've downloaded and tried the same file several times with different scenarios. I even restored factory defaults via settings->privacy menu. All without success.
I found that the reset method menctioned here (power button + volume up) doesn't work for me: and as soon as it boot into recovery mode (a small console at top left with some text lines and an android with gears working) I get the warning sign with the exclamation point again and after a minute, it goes back into HC.
Any ideas on how to fix it to try the upgrade to ICS again?
I made some progress
I found that the power buttom + volumen up is for entering into recovery mode, which doesn't work in my case. I also found a hard reset method: power buttom + volume down + moving the lock switch while booting. It gives me similar results to settings->privacy->restore factory settings. Now I'm shure my bootloader is working fine.
So the question turns into: what can I do to make my tablet take the OTA upgrade from 3.2.1 GEN2 to 4.0.3 GEN2?
Thanks

Downgrade to GEN1.. and then go to ICS...it would help. In Acer's own words... few GEN2 builds have compatibility issues with updates...
remove root
To update you a100 you need not to be root... it happened to me and i did a full restore hc rom without root... after 2 updates ICS arrives...
good luck

Maybe, but in one hand I read that some people downgraded from 3.2.1 GEN2 to 3.2 GEN1 to receive "your device is up to date" (sort of) messages, and on the other hand, why would acer/google push an invalid/incompatible update to my device? It doesn´t make sense.
Anyways, I´ve captured the pushed OTA 2.013.02_COM_GEN2 update.zip to 041.202.01_COM_GEN2, put it on my external_sd, but it didn´t take it. So I am collecting updates.zip from over this forum, but so far 2.007.4 or 2.013.04 doesn´t work for me either.
[Update]
So, will try downloading 3.2 GEN1 1.014.08 to try later 3.2.1 GEN1 and finally 4.0.3 GEN1 to see if it works for me.
It seems that there may be some GEN1`s that are not getting updated.
I am running stock, no root.

ICS Update
I had the same problem. This is what I did.
Turned off the Automatically check for system updates.
Then pressed check now and that found the updates.
There is no way to flash without external_sd ?
If i enter in Recovery mode it found a update.zip (i think it's the 17mb update) and start to flash but end with error.. then.. where is the update.zip which it found ?
if i try to search update.zip by adb

Yes. You can re-apply it as long as is HC, ICS is another stuff, WIP for what I read.
Anyways, going back to the original post:
I was able to downgrade from 3.2.1 GEN2 to 3.2 GEN1 to start over from 3.2.1 GEN1 to a newer 3.2.1 GEN1, and finally to ICS PA_CA GEN1. It was all OTA. Sweet, until it boot the new OS. Now I don´t have spanish GUI, only Canadian English & French as well as something I think means Chinese (2).
How do I add a new language support to ICS?, and
Anyone found how to root ICS? (which problably I will need).
Im running Acer_A100_2007. 02_COM_GEN2, and just got back notification of a 227 mb update. Downloaded, installed, but mid way through the screen with the green android logo with the turning gears, it rebooted. But it rebooted into this version of HC (to be honest, I'm not sure if it was a different version before), and it says I'm up to date...
Did i just fail my ics update too, or did acer release a huge HC update?
Hi,
Finaly, i have ICS but not without issue :
I was on 2.013.03_PA_CA and each time i downloaded ICS (don't remember the version but it was a PA_CA with 192.56 Mo or something like) the procedure fails at about 25%.
After 6 or 7 failure i decided to downgrade to HC GEN1 (don't remember the version) and i continued to upgrade my A100 until ICS.
And all was without issue. Now i have ICS ACER_AV041_A100_1.017.00_PA_CA
I think PA_CA is linked to the serial number ( like IMEI for my phone P970 : LG give me only update from my GSM provider)
In fine, thanks to the forum for helping me.

I don´t think so. My unit was originally a COM_GEN2. I switched into a GEN1, and in the end I was also given the PA_CA upgrade. So what I see is Acer/google are giving us differential upgrade files based upon the original firmware, and that lead us in one direction or another (some working some not, BTW).

You will lose root but you can reroot using the ICS rooting method by ZeroNull in the dev section. I've rooted all the ICS this way including the leaked 9,12,14 and the official OTA. I've also been able to go back and forth to any version even to HC (requires hard reset) by doing the manual flash.

Better explaination of Ubuntu OS and how it relates to us.
Ubuntu OS currently run on top of an Android "shell". The android layer contains the boot.img(kernel/ramdisk), initd, vendor specific drivers etc.. This is what first boots then the ubuntu file system is loaded within this Android "shell". This is why we need flash two zips to have it working(Android and Ubuntu). Ubuntu uses CM10.1 repos for the Android shell portion of the OS. This still works for us as we had official cm 10.1, though development wasn't long lived before moving to 10.2.
There is an AOSP 4.4.2 branch Ubuntu is working on to maybe replace the CM based Android component, but it is currently less stable than the CM based. Hopefully the AOSP branch becomes more stable in the near future as the development for our device is active there.

1. Make your Nandroid to return to
2. Full Wipe
3. Install geeb zip
4. Install ubuntu zip - This is SLOW
5. Reboot and try - There is no boot animation so just be patient.. it boots
Downloads:
Geeb Zip
Ubuntu Zip

I don't know if this thread is helpful for you, or maybe you've alreay seen it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2587823
i tried it and it booted successful on my geehrc. Wifi worked, also keyboard and i could add an account too. Phone/SMS didn't work due no signal. The keyboard had also one severe bug: In the terminal the enter key didn't work.
It's worth a try, you can easily remove it, you just have to reflash your recovery ( in my case TWRP ).
New update. Running ALOT smoother.
The ubuntu zip is a nightly offered through ubuntu so you can always re download that at any point and flash overtop current installation to get the latest. It's a large file so I usually get it weekly...
Will this work on the American geeb (e970)? :-?

It works! Everything seems to be working; just a few bugs here and there with the keyboard and occasional glitches in performance but very impressive for something that's unoptimized..Thanks!

Its not for sprint yet.....I'll work on that this weekend hopefully.
The geeb.zip is needed because of how Ubuntu touch works. Its currently using a mako device tree that has been converted to flash on my e973, the at&t is pretty much the exact same which is why it works for them.
First you flash a cm10.1 based Ubuntu tweaked android sysyem-- geeb.zip
Second is the Ubuntu rootfs that goes atop the android base-- Ubuntu zip
I'm totally jacked to try this. I've downloaded each file twice and tried to get this running. Thing is that the md5s are different for each file. I tried all 4 combinations and let them try to boot for 30 mins each. I must be getting bad downloads lol
Long story short: I would be super grateful for some md5s, if you get a chance

Seems like this is starting to happen to more people..... wondering if ubuntu zip got changed causing it not to boot. I'll try to get a booting copy up today
EDIT:
I downloaded everything myself to try and con confirm it is currently not booting. Ubuntu has changed something that has broke our display. If you reboot the phone you can turn the screen on an off with the power button. I'll hopefully fix this this weekend.. though it's a busy one for me already. See what I can do

Thanks! But yeah, nobody here assumes this should take priority over anything in your personal life we'll get it when we get it.

This weekend ended up being a write off for me so I'll have to see when I can get to making a new working zip, or maybe its an issue from ubuntu end they'll resolve.
Did anyone that tried this and had it boot happen to still have the trusty-preinstalled zip they used? If someone has one from 8th or earlier it should boot... i unfortunatly don't have an earlier build then the 13th... you can still download the 12th and up from the ubuntu phablet site... not sure if that pre-dates the issue or not.
Edit: I havn't tried the 13th build to say if it works or not. Here is the link to the phablet site if someone wants to try an earlier build. look for the preinstalled zip at the bottom of the page after selecting the date
I'll guinea pig a couple older builds and post which one works.

Ok, again I feel a little stupid(again).... I don't empty my Trash very often at all(on my computer or in real life), just neglected to think of it til now. I have an Ubuntu zip from the 4th still there, uploading it now(upload speed is slow... won't be done for an hour or so). Going to check that it boots as it should then i'll post the link.
Again, this is just to hold over untill I can try to see what I need to change to get us booting with the nightlies again.
EDIT: Can verify now that it boots. Here is the Ubuntu zip from the 4th. Remember, not that it really matters, this is an older version than the current.

Confirmed, definitely boots. And I've successfully added all my accounts, but you've gotta either tap the top-right corner of the bottom-left 'swap' key to get the @ or the numbers, or the bottom-left corner of the swap-key (depends on which account you're trying to add - some of them have the Back button in the way which you can avoid by tapping the top-right corner of the swap key, and some have the Cancel button in the way, which you can avoid by tapping the bottom-left corner of the swap key). It's a pain the arse but it works.
I want to do the Google Contacts fix, but I want to do it from the handset's terminal app (i.e. not through ADB) - how do you do a return (Enter) in the Terminal app?
EDIT: found the fix for Enter and Backspace not working in terminal app. Flash this in recovery.
