It depends of the other "consumers". 40 % means that it's consuming 40% of the 100% total consumed at every point in time. So, if the overall battery drain is low, 40% from that, doesn't necessarily mean too much.

But wow.. 1 day and 7h and 40% battery? Which ROM/Radio are you using?
I can't even get 24 hours with almost not using the phone..
Id be happy with 24. I barely get 6 lol
I am able to get almost 30 hours of usage and even after that I got 25-30% left. Using 11.14 radio + DeFrost 5.7 with SetCPU on ondemand. Been 15 hours(Mostly on standby with Wi-Fi + Nimbuzz on) and I still got 80% left .

I'm also with this and have results but not as good as you.. maybe because i'm using a Sense ROM I also had SetCPU in interactive.. will try and see if ondemand is better!
Hours will be many if Display on time is low (below 4-5 hours) or similar heavy processing is kept very low. Easy to get near 2 days with that usage with even the stock ROM.

Then I'm doing something wrong... I did calibrate the battery yesterday and it's a bit better... almost no usage and it's now 12hours uptime with 75% battery..
Are there any apps to monitor the apps that use most battery? The stock information is too restricted

They end up using more battery usually. Go to accounts and sync and make sure it isn't syncing crap in the background, by default Sense syncs News and weather every 15 minutes or so which drains a lot of battery. Also I'd recommend using Gmail with push rather than HTC Mail(Unless using the newer Froyo one with Exchange activesync) so that it doesn't check for new e-mails over and over again. Also don't install apps you don't need and widgets also consume battery. Make sure things aren't using Wi-Fi if you don't need them. And flashing richard's OCUV kernel for HTC Sense based ROMs will also help(Along with it use SetCPU with ondemand/conservative governor).

Hi you all
I resently went from Android Revolution Hd to CM 7, and I'm a bit suprised over the battery drain I have had the first cycluses.
My DHD have no been on for about 7 houres, an I have allready not more than 25 % of battery left with moderate usage. With this much usage it lastet until late night on stock and with Android Revolution HD, and my phone is configured the same as before, only there are fewer things that are syncing on cm7 than on the others roms?
I did a full swipe prior to installing a new rom, I cleaned dalvik cache, and reset battery stats after instalation.
I am using the recomended radio 26.04.02.17_m2 with the RIL for that radio.
What I did was to install launcher pro and uses that instead of the adw launcher, do I need to do anything else with the ADW other than just set the launcher pro as standard launcher?
Anybody else had these problems or has any suggestions?
Thanks in advance...
CM7 eats more there is nothing we can do about it I think.
Put that aside I am user and I bought it to use it, it lasts for me about 5-6 hours sometimes less, what bothers me my battery is always hot but I need to charge it to use it. I fear it'll explode someday.
But when I am not using it it can eat about 1 percent or less but I do not need it to lay around doing nothing. Should have bought galaxy tab or somethin.

Even with my Arc and light usage (only 20 mins wifi per day) I can barely reach 3 days

WTF?¿?¿ HOW YOU CAN DO IT? wen i flash CM7 in my htc hero or my DHD the batteryThe battery is consumed in 1 ' 5 days more or less.
with the recommenend radios, and cyanogen kernel with SET CPU (HERO: 514 MHZ conservative, and DHD 960mhz smartass)
The problem was solved for me after the 7.02 update, and by installing the newest test radio. With moderate to heavy usage I get somwhere around 20 - 30 hours.
Extremely happy with how my DHD is acting with this ROM. I missed Sense applications, but after installing Launcher PRO I got it the way I wanted.
But 5th days..... Thats impressive

Interesting, I find .368 to consume much less battery than the old .145. The battery consumption in standby is close to being equal but out of standby it is much improved.
My kids when using drawing programs consumed around 25-30% an hour and my system panel showed temperatures around 45-47 celcius, it was very hot to touch. On .368 it only consumes around 10% per hour when using drawing programs and temperature stays below 35 celcius Wifi power consumption has also dropped significantly, it was not unnormal for me to have wifi consuming 30% of the battery, now it stays below 5%.
I love the new .368 I have no task managers or any other app running in the background and my phone stays cool. It would quickly rise up to 40 celsius just by looking at the home screen on .145

It's the otherwise for me, when it's on standby it loses 1% every 30-40 mins, when im using thr phone it loses 4-9% every 10 mins of using, the battery lasts 17 hours, some day it reached 22 hours.
now im on .145 FW, 15 hours & the battery is on 51% which a huge improvement.
I just got my Glide a few days ago. From the specs of the phone and reviews online I was expecting the battery to last very long, but that hasn't been my experience.
My battery was going down about 10% every hour which means I would barely make it through a work day without charging it again.
I found a great app called Battery Mix that tracks battery usage and estimates how long the battery is going to last. It shows a number called P/H (percent per hour) which tells you how many percent per hour the battery is going down (or up if you're charging). You can find the app here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.smapho.battery_mix
When I first installed the app I was getting about 12.5 P/H which means the phone will only last 8 hours. I then uninstalled a few apps that use battery, but that didn't help much. Somebody said their battery improved when they formatted their SD card, so I just removed the SD card from mine. Now my battery consumption is down to about 8 P/H. The best I've seen is 7 P/H. This is better but still would only get me 12 hours and I'm not running all the apps I would like to be running.
I have JuiceDefender running now on the balanced setting. I'm running the Osimood ROM with Android 2.3.5. I've removed all background network polling apps like Facebook. Android OS is using 56% of the battery followed by display at 15%, so there isn't anything else that's eating up my battery.
How is the battery life on your Glide? Could you please install this app so we can compare numbers?
Woah, 56% battery life for the Android OS?
On daily usage it barely gets above 20%. The screen takes most battery life.

Thanks for the info.
Mine has been sitting on standby most of the day so that's probably why display is so much lower on mine than yours.
The high percentage of Android OS doesn't really worry me. It doesn't mean it's using a lot of battery; it just means it's using most of whatever is being used which could be a small amount.
Mine is doing much better now. P/H is down to 4.3 which means it could last 23 hours.
I really think the problem was the SD card. I'll pick up a different one after work today and see if it works better. I need a bigger one anyway.
I also found a thread that talks about corrupt image or video files on your phone causing bad battery life. That could definitely be what I'm experiencing. Should be fun figuring out which image is causing the problem.
what about downclocikng your cpu to 800? it will help i belive.
OK just installed it. I will let you know how mine is doing in a few days. I am fully Rogers stock.
I replaced the SD card and it seems to be doing better now. There may have been images on that card contributing to the problem.
I actually had GPS, wi-fi and bluetooth on the whole time. I've turned them all off now.
I've also underclocked it to 800. Thanks, taiber2000.
It looks like for the last hour it only dropped 3 percentage points.
If you are rooted and have ClockworkMod installed, you can sometimes get better battery life by resetting your battery stats. I think there are even some apps for rooted phones that will do it, but I don't have any experience with them. I can say, however, that resetting my battery stats using CWM increased my battery life significantly.
See here for one guide on how to do it: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/bugless/111009-get-better-battery-life-reset-battery-stats.html
sjbotha your welcome.
i belive i will do the same when i'll get my phone as well. altugh i will install the OC rooted kernel for better overall performance i will still downclock via software, not need the extra sterngh for my uses and i better have longer use time then CPU power.
I get 4.9 but the other day I was getting 12. All I did was Reboot my phone and I haven't started many apps. I think when they start they stay in memory.

Mine depends on usage:
-about whole day wifi-on with 3 hours games and calls; if battery is 100% at 6am, it will be 20-30% at 10pm
-whole day HSPA+ on, 2 hours phone calls + SMS/MMS, emails etc; if battery is 100 at 6am, it will be 50-60% at 11pm or before I sleep...
in terms of P/H:
-i get 3-5 P/H when wi-fi, Auto-Sync is on.
-i get 2-4 P/H on HSPA + Auto-Sync on.
-about 1-2 P/H or sometimes a straight line on Battery Stats when Idle, no data connection and/or auto-sync is on.
in other words, the glide can handle my needs in a whole day without completely draining it's battery.

try flashing different kernels and see which one suits u the best.every phone is different.u may also wanna underclock and undervolt. also change the rom may b if changing kernel doesnot work.ine suggestion.XenonHD rom with its stock kernel.
The stock battery is a joke at 1800 and the extended is 2100...I had both and both sucked although the 2100 was a lil better. I have the 3800 Seiko battery now and that will last me all day. Makes the phone thicker but its better then charging all day and worrying about what's killing your battery.

Turn off features when not being used like data NFC GPS.
Also avoid auto task killers
How much does it drain in one hour? Battery drain depends on many factors. The mains ones would be what kernel and ROM you are running as well as what "features" you have turned on. For example I am running CM10.1 with the stock CM kernel and I usually get around 16-18 hours of battery life with 1.5-2 hours of screen time.. that is with all of the features (gps, NFC, etc.) turned OFF.
Refer to my post, partner

How on earth can you drain a 3800mAh battery in one day? Nonstop internet radio AND 3d gaming on full display brightness?
I am currently using PA rom with franco kernel. Normal day = roughly 13-15 hours ish.
By normal day I mean around 30 minutes of talk time, about 1 hour ish web browsing and like what, 30 minutes ish of youtube? Of course, sometimes I am free and end up playing games on it for couple hours lol, but the stock battery seems to be plenty enough to me.
My battery makes it about 15-17 hours, with about 1 hour gaming,1 hour browsing and talk time around 1,5 hours...Xylon + Purity Kernel!
It is what it is. This is Wi-Fi only on this charge:

Turn data off when not using it. You can download a widget for that.
Keep screen brightness down low.
If rooted use setcpu and choose a screen off profile of 350mhz maximum - I find this a real benefit.
Worst fears realised.
The Kit Kat update has delivered drastically worse battery life.
Could often work with 10% per 45 min - 1 hr screen time before on WIFI, that has now gone out of the window.
1 hr 44 min screen time with 68% left now.
That is quite a bit worse I would say.
Anyone else feel the same?
I would rollback, but the camera improvements are just so much better.

I had about 5 hr screen time and almost 2 days of usage. I am using stamina and greenify though since I don't need emails and notifications pushed, I just manually refresh it.
Nope, I just managed 7.5 hours OST on my last charge on WiFi without Stamina Mode, so quite a bit better for me than JB where 5/6 was more usual. Standby power is also noticeably better, averaging ~0.4%/h.
Sadly the KitKat changes make most battery stat apps useless without root now, or I'd suggest you run one to see what's up on your end.

Calibrating battery gives exact battery reading.
There is no real calibration in android and for everybody pls alow 3-4 full charges before reporting your battery life on kitkat(same when flashing new kernel)

This is obviously a sign of some rogue process running intensively (compare performance after booting in safe mode to confirm). You should be able to figure out pretty easily which it is from the basic battery stats page, sadly no partial wakeleock listings anymore on non-rooted phones though.

I have done factory reset>>installed 4.4.2 via PC companion>>full factory reset incl internal storage.. heating problem is somewhat solved.
But it gets heated up when connected to charger..which on JB doesn't happened!! strange..
Draining seems to be normal but takes too much time to charge..
