In my opinion I believe Windows 7 mobile is beautiful and well made. I think this a winning mobile OS for MIcrosoft.

Yeah it does seem to be a vast improvement over Windows 6.5.

Are you getting paid each time we click your links??? I mean seriously ? WTF is up with that.

complete "meh"...
It should be called the "hTc HD2 II iLeo".
lol.
just sayin'.

That review was really unfair... that device is the best on the market, the only way you can tell if that screen is weird or not is if you compare it, alone it looks beautiful. the surround's speakers blow and it is so thick!

The display is objectively terrible. HTC has an unhealthy addiction with reusing old stock/designs on new devices, which is probably what made it use a vanilla TFT-LCD panel on a device that is all about the display.
Omnia is the best WP7 launch device, unless some showstopping hardware defect is found.

Are posters allowed to post affiliate links so they make money?

Objectively terrible....Hmm have you actually seen a HD7 in the flesh or are you taking it from a poorly crafted review? The display is actually far better than the HD2 with richer colours, better back lighting (more even) and it's nice and bright. The design is also subtly different, far better camera, sound quality is excellent. Maybe try one for yourself before criticising, personally I only like to comment on items when I have something informed to say!

You can see the display by lookimg at an Evo. Fon't embarass yourself. The quality is terrible, ESPECIALLY compared to a Super AMOLED display. Evo looks washed out compared to Galaxy S. The same will be true for HD7 vs Omnia 7.
However, I would suicide before buying another Samsung phone.

Really, so I have the device in my hands as well as a Galaxy S and you are looking at an Evo, and I shouldn't embarrass myself Hmm! Most people who have the HD7 are more than happy with both the build quality and the screen. As I stated the display is better than the HD2 (Evo) so you are incorrect! and yes I have actually had a HD2 as well! The HD7 is using a newer screen.
Since I have upgraded my Galaxy S to Froyo it seems to be running far better. Using the HD7 now though as my main phone.
ps not take things so personally that you feel you need to attack me!

Sorry I can't the HD2 is with a colleague of mine, I won't be seeing him for another couple of weeks. I had the HD2 for 6 months before I gave it to him so I remember the screen quality. If you want to wait 2 weeks I can

HTC Schubert Windows Phone 7 device video.

looks good.
Yeah, it looks better on the video than it did on the pictures, but it's such an iPhone knock-off.
And here is the Desire HD...
Im not liking these designs at all.
Actually looks like TPro a bit.
I was expecting more from HTC. Hopefully this isn't they're flagship WP7 device

Exactly.
From the awesome sleek design of Legend to this?!
Its like going a year BACK in time.
What happened to the elegance?
If their flagships will look like these chubby plastic iphone wannabe toys then im moving to ASUS, looks like they are on top of things designwise.
Legend was ugly IMO, i think this device looks really good love metal piece of it. Could it be better yes but i still like the desgin, but i do believe its an early build.
I generally don't like HTC design.
No class.....
TPro 2 was the best IMO.
Well then you must ike the Schubert because it looks just like the TP2 on the front.

Oh right, forgot about that ****.
honestly i think i think looks really slick and nice. the back design is different but i like the use of different materials on it. the front resemboles the touch pro 2...which is my favorite htc phone so I'm happy with that. The screen looks small (3.7") but I thought WP7 has a minimum requirement of 4".
I wish it had a physical keyboard tho

Nope. Not sure what the minimum is but probably 3" or so.
Fugly!!!
I think the thing looks ugly and I for one will be waiting to see what Samsung has to offer, hopefully with a super amoled screen. I also like the look of the Dell Lightning.
I for one wont be buying this device if its the best HTC has to offer. I want something with a bigger display. More like an evo screen or what they showed on the Desire HD but this is just my Tilt 2 with WP7 buttons and no keyboard. Boring
I don't like how the Dell Lightning has its keyboard on the short side with NO TILT, I can't wait for the HTC Touch Pro 3 with WP7 (and a dual-core 1.5GHZ processor yeah right)
Looks like the lovechild of the TP2 and the Tilt2
More like an inbred bastard son.

Which is gonna be best to get?

hi with all the leaks of the new mobiles that are to be released which one is going to be the best 1 to get thats gonna keeps me going for at least 2 years.
With WP7, the specs are all standardized. The options are pretty much personal decisions..
How much storage do you want?
Do you value a physical keyboard?
Which do you think looks the best?
How big of a screen do you want?
What models will work on your carrier (this will probably limit you the most)?
Noone can answer those questions for you. The things that would affect longevity (CPU, RAM) are all standard on WP7 so really won't differ much if at all.

go with hTC Hd3~ haha
question is when is the hd3 gonna be released? One things for sure i dont want a small screen nothing less than 3.8 but would prefer 4 and above
I looking for more of a Touch Pro3 type device. Although I would love to see a 4"+ screen with a slide out keyboard.
I'll probably end up with a Samsung whenever I decide to switch. I don't know what it is, but I always ended up with a Samsung in my pocket for the last 4-5 years now.
I went from the Samsung i630 -> i760 -> Omnia II (i920)
Probably has to do more with Verizon being my provider than any affinity I have for Samsung.
what I'm wondering, .I'm from the netherlands, and also wantto buy it in october, but the dutch version won't be there then yet. So, can I also buy the english version here, or do I need to export it?
cheers

According to pdadb.net the HTC Mondrian/Schubert /Mozart's predecessor model is the HD2, so basically, this will be the HD3.
pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2388&c=htc_mondrian__schubert__mozart
But to answer your question, RustyGrom couldn't have said it any better, but the best thing to do right now is not to get into any contracts until at least November, I just canceled Sprint and now have and HD2 with T-Mob, contract less...
I must say all those leaked devices recently look very bad.
Besides Dell Lightning.

I liked the square Asus was it...there was something else square that looked nice...was it another Samsung maybe? But it's weird...that samsung taylor prototype look has grown on me, lol. But I can't wait to see reviews instead of leaks.
PDADB?
Is there another site that organizes the upcoming models better?
Well, as always Sprint is last to get a phone. The only positive is lately Sprint has the best looking and performing phones out (Evo and Epic). I hope this trend continues and Sprint drops a real monster this winter.
There is a decent round up here...
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/35093/windows-phone-7-launch-phones
now we know the models that are being released which is gonna be best, now im more prone to the hd7 or the omnia 7 manly being screen size not sure which yet. So which would you pick and why?
I'm partial to the Samsungs with the S-AMOLED screens. WP7, even more than other OSes, looks great on a AMOLED screen.

ditto - plus SD card support as well if that pans out.
From people who have had hands-on sessions and the lucky few who have received their review units already, I've been hearing Mozart and Omnia are the nicest. The general consensus seems to be that the HD7 doesn't feel quite right, too big, too shiny and WP7 somehow feels better on the smaller screens.
The Trophy seems to be winning a lot of praise too, though I think that's on the presumption that it will be quite a bit cheaper than the Mozart.
Yeah the Mozart is a very nice looking device. My only concern is no SAMOLED. I agree with the above post about WP7 looking best with an AMOLED screen. However, I'm not too sure I want a phone with Samsung's build quality. Decisions.. decisions..
The LG phones actually look good in the reviews Ive seen which is a bit of a shocker as Ive never like LG for phones that much in the past...
Well... I prefer the HD7... it just looks like THE WP7 device... it just stands out, that gorgeous 4.3 inch screen? that beautiful camera(2 LED!), the stand! the other devices are small and weak... the Dell one just looks ugly(I thought it looked like the BlackBerry Style)
Still, speed is no issue with any of them...

All the new phones are "too big" :S.. I'm hoping for a Win Phone 7 with the same size as the HTC Diamond 2... I hate huge phones like the nexus, hd2 and iphone :S
I will buy the htc Mozart. This One is little. It smaller. Like the desire.
Nice cell phone ! I will buy one.
My goodness that looks like a nice phone!!!

Hope so, because that'd mean there's a humminbird/SGX540 in it with a 4in Super Amoled screen, but the person who leaked the vid says it's a 3.7in screen. And like most people are saying here, it will most likely have the Snapdragon processor.

Hmmm...the US (att) Samsung Captivate has some pretty troubling issues on the reliability front. Granted it has a WM OS, however, most of the issues seem to be hardware related.
I am pretty underwhelmed by the three rumored handsets set to be announced in a few days. I'll end up purchasing one of them, simply to support the OS, but all of them look pretty ho hum. I really though that Microsoft was going to come out swinging this time around. Apparently not. The OS looks slick, though incomplete, and the hardware looks minimal instead of trend setting. Bottom line is that an WP7 handset announced next week will be eclipsed in technology by holiday sales period. That is pretty sad.

Rogers Galaxy Nexus Discussion Thread

Feel free to use this thread for general discussion related to the Rogers Galaxy Nexus
I've just HUP'd to a Galaxy Nexus, pretty excited to get it in the mail this week. I'm coming from an iPhone 4s.. I've been a die hard Apple fan but I did try some gingerbread phones before and didn't mind it, just had lots of touch screen issues/texting issues (timestamps) and found it to be a hassle.
Anyone else move from an iPhone 4s and want to share an opinion?

Thanks.
I think my main issue though was the grid of icons, using iOS for so long I just started to absolutely HATE it. When they included Notification Center I was happy, but I realized I never even used it like I did when I had my Infuse, because it didn't feel like a real part of the OS... just a place to go to clear notifications, not SEE them and interact with them.
It is honestly the best phone I have ever seen, everything is great on it. The quality and size of the phone makes the iPhone look like a toy in my opinion. Also ICS gives Android the polish that's its needed in looks and performance.

FYI you really should wait a week when their new upgrade policy goes into effect which means you actually pay what you owe not an over inflated amount when you upgrade
And i'm going from a iP4 to a Nexus as soon as i find a best buy with one in stock
I'm considering getting the Galaxy Nexus as well. I just sold my iPhone4. I hardly ever used it as a phone. Just for music and to play Angry Birds. Sooooo happy I sold my iPhone4! My main device is BlackBerry, but I have 2 lines. I have the HTC Amaze on my second line now. I love the Amaze but it's too heavy for me to carry both devices. There's only so many purses a girl could buy! I was messing around with the Galaxy Nexus this weekend and it's a pretty sleek device. I thought about getting the Samsung Galaxy SII because of the Exynos CPU, but I need a notification led light. BlackBerry spoiled me in that department. Besides the Galaxy Nexus, any other device I should consider? I need something that is light, thin and fast.

If your coming from an iPhone 4/4s like myself, Android is really the only way to go. Your other options would be Windows Phone 7 (in Canada we have lame WP7 devices and it's microsoft lol) or Blackberry with RIM falling apart.

I'm thinking of using the HUP to trial run the Nexus till I get paid, then return it and buy it outright without extending my contract so I should be okay.
I will admit though, I'm very excited to use this device, especially coming from my 4S.

I guess you didn't fully read my post. My main device is a BlackBerry and that won't change anytime soon. I have the HTC Amaze on my second line but it's a heavy device so I'm looking for a thinner, lighter Android. I only used the iPhone4 as a phone for maybe a month and that was last summer. I don't care for the iPhone. No offense to iPhone users. It does nothing for me. I agree the WP7 are lame in Canada. I think Telus is picking up the Nokia Lumia 800. I love Nokia, but not sure about WP7 though.

I had the HTC EVO 3D 3 times....yes 3 times, LOL, the battery door drove me nuts. But it wasn't just that, it was laggy and whenever I talked on the phone, everyone said I sound like I'm talking through a tunnel. The Amaze is AMAZING! It's A LOT better than the EVO 3D. The Amaze is faster, call quality is much better, build quality more solid, screen looks better even though they both have the same res. and the speaker is much louder. The speaker on the EVO 3D was low and tin like. Overall I am very happy with the Amaze.
Now I just need a 2nd Android.
has anyone been able to get mms working? I tried adding an mms apn I found online but no luck.. I've also had a few text messages fail to go through.

HTC One X Advert

Is it just me or has HTC Approached It's Media Campaign of the One Series in completely the wrong way?
The Advert I'm talking about is the one with the Student taking photos during freefall, in my opinion as an advert is pretty poor as it doesn't invoke any emotion nor show you much about the phone.
Adverts HTC should take not from are the Galaxy Nexus 'Pure google' advert in the UK and the New Internet Explorer 9 advert in the UK.
99% of people aren't like us on XDA and already know the phone inside out before the Adverts even air, they need to be shown in those few seconds that the phone is for them, and I wouldn't get that from this advert.
Just sharing my thoughts, what are your opinions?
Totally agree is a waste of time advert

Kind of wasted though, as It's IE, everyone already has it, and if they don't, It's because they've installed a new one and don't want it in the first place.

Thats the one! I find it really annoying to watch.
The IE advert I think is more about them saying 'hey look! we're not crap anymore!'
When I was looking for a new phone a month ago, One X caught my attention with it's design. White One X is just gorgeous. When I saw the specs inside, other phones came out of question anyway and I wanted only this one then. After I saw the ugly SGS3, it just confirmed that my choice was correct.
In my opinion the advert is focused on the design and the best highlight of the phone - the camera. And HTC represented it very good. The rest (specs, other features etc) is just a minor matter.
I can't even get a decent picture when my 9 month old is flapping his arms without blur, Nick taking pictures whilst freefalling @ 100-something mph? JOG ON NICK!

We, the jaded, probably aren't who the ad is targeted at. HTC focusing on the camera and audio I'm sure is based on market research as to what features resonate with the target audience. This bigger video's probably going to be cut up and shortened and used in commercials too. Parts of it are pretty good.
This on the other hand is horrible. It might as well be for life insurance. The whole "for humans" thing Samsung's pursuing is designed to make an evolutionary phone appear revolutionary.

Right, yes, If HTC chose to Edit that full video and use that as It's TV commercials I feel they'd have a better response, as it actually emvokes at least some feeling, and shows the phone being used.
I agree with the S3 Advert being Pish, but the style of it is tried and tested (By none other than who they copy-Apple) and will of course work.

Apple's commercials are stylized but always include the device itself solving problems for people using it. Would you have gotten that two SGS3's being placed against each through glass meant pics and videos were being shared if you didn't know about S-Beam? Saying the phone "understands you" without showing how raises more questions than it answers and isn't as memorable. It'll sell in the gazillions without any advertising so Samsung's no worse off.
