I've stripped my phone down and removed the lcd digitizer and it was held in by what looks like thin grey double sided foam tape, I have a new unit to fit but it doesn't come with any tape.
Does anyone know where I can get some proper tape to hold the screen in?

I just replaced my LCD and digitizer on my Evo 4g, but I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the parts . My question is, where does the adhesive tape go? in other words, is it between the back of the mother board and the LCD, or somewhere between the LCD and digitizer, or where????
If it goes between the lcd and digitizer, wont the tape show?
Please help!! TIA
Any Help? Any One???
lol it dose goe in between the digi and the lcd trick is to get it to the outer edges of the screen and the tape wont show plus it should only be a thin piece not the whole thin it should look like the outer edge of the lcd place it on the outer edge then place the digi over it and you should be good !
Hi All,
I dropped my note 2 two weeks ago and the screen was cracked.
The touch screen is still functional, so I ordered a replacement of the glass, followed the iFixit tutorial to disassemble it, used a heat gun to peel it off and applied the replacement on top of the digitizer.
However, the original adhesive was sticked to the old glass and was not possible to recycle. I tried to find a 3M sticker on eBay for Note 2, but there is none. I'm wondering whether I can put some kind of liquid glue between the digitizer and the glass, or a bigger 3M sticker then cut it with knife.
Thank you for your help!

Look for double sided tape. I think there's a link to the type you need on. Ifixit

More specifically, 3M 300LSE. You can buy a sheet for 5-ish dollars on ebay that has enough material to do a few phones.
You can use the glass for a template/stencil. Also don't forget to cut out the speaker/microphone holes. You wouldn't believe how it can mute the ear speaker. Or how hard it is to figure out that you've done that and not somehow left the speaker unplugged...
Thank you so very much for the info!
I'm trying to replace the outside glass on an HTC EVO 4G and have a couple questions.
I was able to remove the digitizer, however, I broke the old bezel. I ordered another bezel along with a rear cover and mid-section.
The new part where the LCD and the digitizer attach had two adhesive strips on it. I removed the backing from the adhesive strips and lightly attached the old LCD. After I had put it in place I noticed that the new part where the LCD attaches had a shiny piece of mylar/plastic between the new part and the LCD screen and the old one had a dark grey/black piece. I removed the LCD screen from the new part and but the old grey/black piece of mylar/plastic between the LCD screen and the new part.
However, after I did this I questioned what I had done. By putting the pieced of plastic sheeting between the new part and the existing LCD I would only be attaching this piece of plastic to the new part. The back of the LCD itself would not be attached to anything.
What is the purpose of this plastic sheet and am I supposed to attach it to the adhesive tape and is there any functional diffence betwen the silver one and the black one?
