Is there a way to adjust or lower the vibrate strength while typing? I don't mind the strong vibrate for notifications but the keyboard vibrate is too strong. It's almost distracting.
I thought the vibrate strength on the nexus one keyboard was more appropriate.
Mine seems ok. But I don't know of a way to change it other then to turn it off.
Search for SwiftKey on the market. It is an alternative keyboard with this function.

Id like my trackpad to be constantly lit if I have a notification, instead of the fade in and fade out.
Would I have to edit lights.vision?

I like this idea. Going from my Nexus One to the G2, that's one thing I miss the most...even though the N1 flashed its trackball, it was much easier to see when I had a notification from across the room. With the G2, the trackpad light is so dim as it is, and when it flashes once ever couple seconds, its barely noticeable. If I had an option to keep it on, I'm sure it would help to get my attention.
Download LED me from the market and then when your in the setting for the duration go to custom and then hit OK which should make it stay lit when you have a notification. I don't have it installed so those instructions might not be exactly "followable"

Couldn't find LED me, but there is an app LED Me Know Beta, same thing?
UPDATE: Tried the app...this actually manipulates the tiny LED light under the speaker grill of the G2. The OP and I were talking about the light surrounding the trackpad of the G2. Thanks though.
Check compatability in settings, then under the notifications tab choose whatever notification you are setting up, then choose led color, then choose trackpad.

I tried LED Me Know, but it seems to drain battery a lot. Did anyone experience this?
LED Me Know does allow you to light up the trackpad. Go into the Notifications tab, then go into the specific app you want to notify you. Under LED color, choose TrackPad. You can make it blink or not, choose the rate it blinks, and choose whether to turn if off when the screen is on. The color is the only thing that you have no choice about because it's only a white light.
I love this app. Works very well on my G2. I haven't compared the battery life with/without it yet though. But turning the indicator's off when you turn the screen on would probably help. I really hope it isn't a huge battery drain. That would be a deal breaker.
Why the heck is Android so allergic to persistent popups anyway? Every old school phone in the world is in your face when you get a call/sms/email/voicemail/chat. But it's like pulling teeth to get the Android to yell at you when you have an alert.
I am very hard of hearing so I have most sounds turned off on my phone and rely on vibrate. I do have blue tooth hearing aids which allow for phone calls to be heard.
My problem is that the notification for emails and text are very short and not very strong. Is there an app or some way to increase the length of the vibration allowing it to be noticed easier when the phone is in my pocket.
I use exchange email, both the stock and Touchdown. I saw some apps that might do it but they were for gmail, imap.
Thanks,
Dave
I agree the vibration is quite weak. Get Light Flow, the app that allows for very granular control of the front LED- it has the ability to vibrate when gmail/sms/etc occurs. Part of this though is that you can specify the duration of the vibration, so you can make it vibrate longer than the stock gmail vibrate, as well as making it repeat which is useful if you miss it the first time(s) around...
You do need root though.
Hope this helps.

+1 for light flow, you can read more here

i too rely on the vibrate but only because i think its annoying to have it beeping constantly lol
Thanks,
It seems to be doing what I need now. Had to purchase the application, since the free did not support Touchdown/Exchange. Did not have to root.
Another +1 for light flow. I have my texts set to blue and flashing very fast, emails are gold, and missed calls are red. It's set up just like my Blackberry was 2 years ago!

Don't need root for light flow... I'm not rooted and it does LED, vibrations and sounds perfectly for me..

Hi,
I got the European G4 model and I tried to change the strength of the tap vibration to make it a bit stronger as it is very soft and barely noticeable. When in the menu:
Settings > Sounds and notifications > Vibration strength
I can move the slider for call & notification around and I can feel the difference between the lowest setting and the highest. When changing the strength for "Vibrate on tap" I can't notice any difference, the strength of the vibration seems the same no matter what level I set it to.
Anyone else having this issue?
Thanks
b3n
The difference is very slight.

Just wondering if it were possible to adjust vibration intensity when a notification arrives?...anyone?
Sent from my Pixel XL using XDA-Developers mobile app
This should be in Q&A as it's not related to an app, theme or mod.
Also would like to know about this. Vibration seems to be loud, but not easy to feel in my pocket.
I agree, vibration is too soft to rely on in the pocket
Any update on how to improve this? My moto x pure has a great vibration intensity and I'm hesitant to give that up...

Still no luck? I can't feel the thing vibrate at all

You need a kernel with the ability to adjust that.
If u got root, I'm currently on ElementalX kernel and I just adjusted vibrate intensity. Definitely a improvement.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
But ElementalX only lets you increase vibration for stuff like button presses.
So you're capable of going from stock settings of maybe 50% vibration up to stock system max 100% vibration.
But overall system max vibration remains at 100%.
You can't go higher than that.
So stuff like text message alerts and incoming call alerts will remain at current stock 100% vibration levels.
Count me among those who want more vibration!
...and a brighter LED alert as well.
As a workaround, I use my Textra SMS app's built in ability to change the vibration style.
I set it to multiple long vibrations instead of the stock single vibration.
It does help a little to make it more noticeable when I get a text when the phone is in my pocket.
You are right. Main reason for me to flash El-X was the vibration thingy, but the default vibration is already set at highest, you can't go higher than that. You can, but the haptik feedback one, that's completely an unneeded feature for me. So if anyone is looking for actual device vibration, then no, custom kernel won't allow to increase it, you can decrease it though, not that's the point.
Is anyone else's alert slider a little funky? I mean in terms of the three step functions. My slider feels nice and sturdy and well-built with no obvious signs of defect, but for some odd reason, if I switch it all the way up to silent and then switch it all the way back down to ringer, it gets stuck on Do Not Disturb mode. If I slide it back and forth a few times then ringer will eventually come back, but it definitely seems more of a software issue rather than hardware. Anyone else with this problem?

I kinda just noticed something. Usually I've been using my fingernail to slide the slider (this phone is a bit awkwardly tall and I primarily use my right hand) which is when it happens, but if I use my left hand and use my thumb, it applies a bit more strength and push it more inwards slightly, and it works. Weird.
