I just traded my x away for the inc. I rooted using unrevoked and I don't know how to get into clockwork. Would somebody be able to tell me how to get in recovery or if it messed up somehow and didn't install it, would I be able to flash it from Rom manager? Thanks.

after a little more investigating, it seems to me that clockworkmod did not install or install all the way. when i try to go to it, it is just a black screen with a white line down each side. so the question is, how do i get it working properly?

Look in the android development forum for "the ultimate back to stock thread". download the "PB31IMGxxxxx" file there, rename it to just PB31IMG.zip and put it on the root of your sd card. Go into the bootloader and let it run the update. This will bring you back to a 2.2 stock. From there you can re-root and do whatever else you like. Just be careful with what you flash, just cause there is an update, doesn't mean you need to flash. I know it's hard but I learned that the hard way lol.

How do you manually get into recovery? I've only done it from rom manager. Im running evervolvs gingerbread 1.0.1b3 if that might be affecting cwr

So my whole problem is getting into the bootloader. I just need to flash a rom with working GPS =/. Anyone?

Edit: Weird, i just checked cwr version and it wasn't 3.0.whatever. all good now. =)
to manually get into recovery turn phone off hold volume down and power....
So this morning I woke up and saw there was a firmware update. I downloaded it and installed it. I walked away during the installation and when I came back I saw the android logo next to an error sign. What should I do. My phone was rooted when I installed. I'd appreciate any help.

i had the same problem i tried installing the update and the android logo was under a triangle with an ! in it. my brother also has an EVO with same issue and we are both rooted so i assume its because of root. i unrooted my EVO and am waiting to get into sprint service area to download the update. im pretty sure unrooting will fix it but i guess ill find out and ill post when i do
Hey. knuckleheads, if you unroot, then update, you're not gonna be able to root again.
Ever think about doing some reading before you try anything?

i know that i would lose root i didnt really see a problem with it. and an update to my other post i installed the update and am running gingerbread now so if you dont mind losing root then just unroot then update
The sprint ota utilizes the recovery to apply. If you rooted, chances are you have amon ra or cwm. Neither if these will flash a sprint ota properly. You need stock HTC Evo recovery image, which is actually not a user functional one. It is the one with the phone and red triangle and exclamation point.

Hey guys,
I used the AlpharevX Windows beta to S-OFF my Inc 2, then rooted using CWM (still on stock rom). I can see the OTA, and can download it, but it won't install.
The progress bar gets about 1/3 the way full then comes up with the triangle with the !.
I've tried it two or three times, did factory reset, have no idea what to do. Do I have to S-ON for it to install? If so, how exactly do I do that?

First, you cannot install an OTA when you have a custom recovery such as CWM installed. You at least need to install the original recovery image for your particular ROM before you try again.
Since the OTA in now available and official, why don't you just wait a few hours and someone will have a fully rooted version of the ROM that you can flash using CWM and not worry about losing S-OFF?
Let me give you a fair warning though, I'm not positive how Alpha set up their root, as I used XTC. BUT I know if you install the OTA with replacing CWM with regular recovery, you MAY be turned back to S-ON WITHOUT an option to get root back, UNLESS using the XTC clip. Enjoy.
Okay, I was afraid of that. I'm used to not even being able to see OTA's at all with CWM (came from Droid X), so it kind of threw me off.
Do you have any idea if the OTA is really any different from the leaked Inc S GB rom that's floating around? If, for some reason, it takes forever to get the ota rooted and they're not that different I may just install the leaked one I have.
Not trying to be a pain, just curious.
Thanks,

Check the Dev section. It looks like there is already a rooted, debloated version available.
I just created a PG32IMG.zip containing. Android-info text file and CWM recovery img renamed to recovery.img and placed it on root of sdcard
Booted into hboot and flashed it ...
Then I replaced the recovery with the stock recovery from the froyo ruu and flashed the stock recovery back....
Then flashed right back to CWM..
Never used any commands via windows or linux
I am going to install the ota and try to go back to cwm recovery and see what I can do from there.
I'll keep you guys informed

This way we will know if the s-off is similar to.unrevoked for the incredible 1. I could do this all day long with theirs.
One way to find out right.

You will recieve the OTA update and get Gingerbread. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED BY MANY that you will NOT be able to -reroot. if you can that's because of the hboot alpha gave you. but if it changes ur hboot you need XTC clip to re-root. RMK already posted a ROOTED ROM of the current OTA. SAME THING, why chance root for OTA. THEY ARE THE EXACT SAME FILES. BUT WITH ROOT! just use his ROM. my 2 cents. do as you please

Hey, Instead of Don't do this, do that, do this, don't update that, If you want the release and don't want to lose root, install from this link. This guy(rmk40) spent some time to get this out to us. Awesome work! You won't lose root, everything works.

I rooted my At&t Note 2 with 4.2.2 and it seemed to work fine. Then when I went to get the gapps put on for the google software I ran into an issue. Since I was dumb and didnt create a recovery spot first I have nothing to go back to. Right now my phone is stuck in the "android system recovery" screen where the android guy is laying on his back with a red sign over his open stomach. I have tried to just hit wipe and to reboot it but all it does is restart the phone and bring me right back to the screen. What do I do please help!!! Is it possible to download someone elses recovery and apply update from my SD card??
This is the Sprint forum dude

i know but that doesnt mean someone may not have the answer.
Well, that may be true, but there may be differences that Sprint users won't be aware of for AT&T. Thus, using the appropriate forum should give you an appropriate answer.
If you're not on a stock recovery, such as TWRP or CWM, why not just reflash the rom, and reflash GAPPS (after the rom of course). The easiest fix I can think of.
I wouldn't use a nanroid from a Sprint phone on AT&T. That can only end in disaster.
Use the link below to go back to stock using Odin.

Maybe I am not looking in the right places, but I am trying to figure out how to change from clockwork mod recovery to twrp recovery. All the instructions for installing twrp that I have found only allows tells how to install from a fresh root. I am already rooted and just want to use Twrp now in the place of CWM. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Am really not understanding what I am doing and want to NOT brick my phone

I use this from CNexus... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41313260 its the best of both worlds. But from my understanding if you just want cwn you just download the zip and flash. Your nandroid from twrp are not compatible with cwm so make sure u keep them separately or delete them and make new ones. Again this is from my research. I use both and have no problem switching.

Just download goo.im from the market...I think it is called goo manager. They have an option that will auto install it.
I know about goo. Used it in my touchpad. Will installing twrp from here do anything to my existing status? Or just remove cwm and replace it with twrp? Has anyone tried it already?

Just flash TWRP right over using goo manager.
