First of all thank you for your hard work creating usefull and attractive products.
But... I have tried many ROM's and didn't find any working good with my car handsfree kit (Parrot CK3200LS-COLOR, MK6100, MKi9200). During call Parrot's microphone always is MUTED, therefore I hear people, but nobody hears me. The firmwares in Parrot kits are renewed. Microphone is OK, my old Nokia E65 works without problems.
I'd like to ask you, is it a bug in Android 2.2 (FROYO) OS? Is it possible to fix somehow in future custom ROM versions? Can you advice me how to solve this?
If I flash my Desire with one of Android 2.1 custom ROM's, does my Desire work properly with Parrot?
Thank you if you find time to consult me or give me solution.

Leedroid 2.1a
Kind regards,
Marijus
I think you'd get more support if you'd change the thread title to a more... significant one
Right...
1. You've already had a thread going asking about 2.1 ROMs as you've been told by Parrot (apparently) that your headset is no longer supported in Android 2.2. That alone should leave you to make a decision - stick with Android 2.2 OR stick with your headset.
2. There are plenty of 2.1 based ROMs on here, I assume you're on one now, and the chances of a developer trying to sort out ONE thing for one person is unlikely.
Thank you for suggestions. I'm not sure Android 2.1 is free from this bug. I don't ask developers to fix, but only to explain what is the root of problem. And maybe somebody confirm that it is worth to go from 2.2 to 2.1.

With a thread title as ambiguous as this, you have a low possibility of a parrot user that has used 2.2 then rolled back to 2.1 because of the same problem as you describe.
have you not used 2.1 before? best way to desipher what you might lose in functionality is to look at the 2.2 changelog thread.... if you search ye shall find.
Hi.
Today tested with MCR r2.1 with 2.1 radio. Also tried Pirate Rum 2.1. No luck.

Hi,
Most Hero ROMs try to port FriendStream, News and Live Wallpapers from the Legend/Desire to our Heros but wouldn't be better to just use a Legend port?
I've read about a few problems in the past, when we were still waiting for the official 2.1 update for the Hero and the Legend/Desire were just being released, about doing stuff like this that it would never be 100% like the current official 2.1 update for the Hero (well, it's not 100% either, but you know what I mean).
But now we have official RUU updates from the Legend (the most similar to the Hero of the new phones) we also have the source for the Hero 2.1 kernel, wouldn't that be enough to create a good and fully working port for the Hero? Wouldn't be better instead of using the official Hero 2.1?
I'm not as experienced as most devs here, that's why I'm wondering if this would be better and if there's some problem porting the Legend ROM that I'm overlooking...

There was this ROM called Legendroid, I don't remember who was the developer But the ROM was pretty fast and stable.

Sure, but that doesn't really "answer my question"
I mean, we know have the source code for the kernel, which we didn't back then when such ROMs were released...
I'm wondering if that makes a difference...
Changing the kernel is not enough.
You could be more explicit...
I'm not a dev, but as a user I can say, that those were slow and battery sucker.
But if you do one what is speedy, uses battery at least as good as the official based ones, and it'll have more features....
Hero community will love you C:

I am pretty sure this was caused by the lack of the .29 kernel it should be better now.
Well I can't really see why a Legend ROM would be better than a Hero ROM, but I would like the News Reader Widget, I find it dumb how HTC wouldn't give the 2.1 Hero this widget but whatever.
OH btw don't take this as discouragement by all means go for it since most people ditched their Legend ROMs so if you can do it I don't see why not variety is good .
i thought the only problems transferring features from the legend ROM was the friendstream widget as everything else was ported over to normal Hero ROMs one way or another before the official 2.1 RUU came out.
it would obviously be easier to port the extra stuff from the legend ROM to the Hero ROMs
I don't think it would cause the Legend ROM has more things than the News and FriendStream widgets... For instance, the browser has quick actions for selected text which is cool, the mail widget has 3 variants (Hero's only have 1). And I'm sure there lots of other tiny little details...
It's a pain to port all these things one by one, it's just easier (I think) to port the whole thing with a Hero kernel (but I'm not the one to do it).
And I'm sure there are other "hidden" stuff that our Heros lack, it's just their way to differentiate their phones. It sucks for customers, but it's good for them.

If we take a legend port suppose would you be able to modify the Hero kernal to work on the port with OC.
As I said, it is not only the kernel that needs to be changed. But... we already have a Legend port... Fallah
I don't want to be rude but cloud you please stop saying that changing the kernel is not enough without explaining why and/or what else is needed?
You're not being very helpful like that...
And that Legend port is not based on WWE, so it would be a no go for me.

should have free time in the coming months and i'm going to try make a legend port. i'm not a "dev" i know a little but i cant do what a lot of these guys do by any means. if its stable i might share
still use my G1 for random development as well as a magic 32b and now i got the desire i can try be brave and try out things on the hero.

could you please add links to each post where we can download those two flashable files?
Also, has anyone tried fallah or the swedish rom yet? I downloaded them both just now but am running the just released updated cronos froyo rom right now and don't want to reflash until I've tested this baby thoroughly.
what I miss most about the old legend ports was the FAR superior text selector system with zooming etc. Is that part of these roms or was that a bit of a hack in the older roms? it sure was sweet....
It really should be part of android, but considering it's similar to the apple copy/paste concept, I'm wondering if there might be some patent infringement going on there which might explain why it's not used by HTC in other roms than the legend stuff. But that is just a rumor I pieced together myself so it's probably wrong.
anyway, it's the best text selector system on android. froyo's selector comes close but isn't still as good imho.

It looks hacked with a different theme, I'm not very fond of that... Thanks for sharing though.
I might try to do a port myself when I get the chance, similar to the Nebulae (my own ROM) features and see how that goes...

i have ported a legend rom, newest ruu from shipped roms...
it works pretty good, exept wifi, need a modified libhardware_legacy.so, so it use the wlan.ko instead of tiwlan_drv.ko :/
have to make a alfa corner, so we maybe can work on the problems together...
but all that when i come back from my vacation...
Can't find any answers on forums so here goes...will a future 2.3 OTA update for DHD be by carrier or phone manufacturer i.e by HTC direct.
I got mine p&g on 3 network but don't use the 3 sim, I use an o2...so how wld any OTA update arrive, do I need to keep putting 3 sim back in the phone from time to time or when I check for updates will it come from HTC direct?...I take it that it wldn't come from o2...
Thanks
**Emailed HTC..they say they wont be releasing any OTA update, it will come from carrier, and for me to contact 3
***Just spoke to 3...didnt expect much from them, according to their c/s call centre assistant in Mumbai, the latest version of Android 3 network has is 2.1...dimwit, I bought the phone from 3 and had 2.2 already on it, which he disputes..obviously he knows better than me who bought the phone and uses it
Have a look at the software build. If it's x.x.405.x then any updates will come from HTC directly. Otherwise you'll have to wait for the carrier to modify it first.

We are all new to it at some point but the whole process is actually a lot easier than it first sounds. Just read the instructions and FAQs until it's clear what you need to do. See my reply in the thread linked below to save you searching and to save me typing it all again!:

As for things not working in custom ROMs, well that was maybe the case when the DHD was first released but it's certainly not the case now. Lets take Android Revolution HD ROM as an example - Everything works as it should and the performance of it blows all stock ROMs away.
There are other 100% working / stable / every day use ROMs too, like LeeDroid ROM which also gets great feedback from the people who use it.

Many thanks...maybe I will have a try...getting bored with Froyo cos of all the 2.3 hype so wld like to see what the fuss is about...cant read anything on android forums without them banging on about gingerbread this, gingerbread that...and an OTA from 3 or HTC isnt worth holding breath for
Ah... now most fully working DHD ROMs are also Froyo, but don't let that put you off as they will all be like night and day compared to stock Froyo. You jsut have to have a quick look at the release notes and change logs to see the differences.
However if you really do want a slice of tasty Gingerbread look at the CM7 builds, but this is where you will find things not working or unstable etc as they're experimental.
Another option to relieve your Froyo boredom is to flash one of the custom Froyo ROMs and then start customising it with mods and themes etc. See post 2 in the Android Revolution HD thread for some really cool stuff, and also in the first few posts of the LeeDroid thread.

We'll have to wait for HTC to release the official update, or wait for another model HTC to get 2.3 and then be ported over to DHD.
It will happen, we just have to be patient... something I learned waiting for the 2.1 update for Hero!
In think custom 2.2 would be better than stock 2.3 anyway. On the other hand, custom ROMs based on 2.3 are something to get excited about

HTC! there's potentially a lot of work with the framework and API changes from Froyo to gingerbread and I wouldn't expect personally to see a GB sense ROM until HTC have ported it
Hey guys
I've been really happy with the performance of the HTC desire and had no real thoughts about rooting it and upgrading the ROM untill I realized that it was possible to connect a Wii Remote and play games on the phone. However, this does not work on stock Desires, apparently due to a bug in HTC's software.
So since I have a long plane ride to look forward to, I really want to get this gaming solution going, since playing emulators on a touchscreen is borderline masochistic. What I need to know is what is the latest ROM that has not been touched by sense and will work for sure with the Wii Remote
Thanks, I really appreciate the help.
Michael
Any AOSP (non sense) rom should allow Wii-remote connection using the 'WiimoteController' app from the market. I've personally used Cyanogen, Oxygen and a few other non-sense roms, all worked.
Hmm so its sense that causes the problem?

Yeah, the Bluetooth drivers that come with Sense do not allow you to pair a Wiimote, I remember Dev's complaining to HTC about it.
Ok so here is my dilemma.
I have been waiting for an update and still not got 2.3 and now I have given up. I have used cyanogenmod before so thought maybe that was an option but never really used the extras and hated the bugs. I currently never user HTC sense stuff so I am now wondering if there is a pure Android only 2.3 Rom/ruu for the dhd and does anyone have experiences with it?

bugs in cyanogenmod?currently? everything goes smoothly in CM7xx
i think that can judge by yourself...
it deppends.. you are a sense lover?
you don´t want or need root access?
etc...Then with this rom (official) it is sufficient
but i tried a oficial ruu vs leedroid (example) and leedroid gb,, its soooo much fast than the official RUU... and more advantages

There is a GB ROM that is pure bar root as well as Android Revolution which is highly recommended (although I prefer LeeDroid) and whilst visually you'll not tell the difference it does have plenty of themes, add-ons etc. on the development forum - http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=765
I use CM7.0.3 and have found no bugs at all. Perhaps you flashed a nightly.
[EDIT] Dang!! Sergi beat me to it.
I have not tried cm7 yet but have tried 5 and 6 before on other phones and know that it is never 100% stable. I just wondered if a.basic stock version of Android would be better or not.
As I said iam not to bothered about sense. Only.thing I will miss is the contact sync stuff.

The customised Sense based ROMs are MORE stable thus "better".
CM6 and cm7 for me have been 100% stable for me. Never had a system fc or random reboot but won't argue with you about it. I can only tell you how it is on the DHD (and Hero) now. I'll say no more.
I used CM6 on my HD2 before my kid decided to unplug it from the charger and throw it onto the kitchen floor and break it, and let me tell you, it was the best android experience I had on a phone. Now that I have an Inspire 4G, I've had CM7 since the wonderful devs here got to root it, and it just blows my mind on how better and stable this thing is, as a matter of fact, I recommend it to anyone of my friends that own any android phone. So go ahead and try it, play with it, the worst thing that can happen is that you don't like it and go for a Sense ROM instead.

If I read the first post, I would say that you only should try some other custom roms.
They are all faster then the stock version. And the support in the threads is great.
This is probably as close as you can get
Hey there, here are some ROMs that I thought you might like to try. I had the same dilemma as you. I wanted a stock android 2.3 ROM, so I searched around but to no avail. Then I found these ROMs. Both are Android 2.3.3 and based on CM 7 but have the stock android interface. Check them out! I think you'll like them. : ) (A the moment I'm using the second one I mentioned; Ultimate Droid.)

I've been googling for a while to find new ROM with Sense, I found something from this threat here, which is similar to what I am looking for. However, after gone through, I've learnt that it's is not yet completed (correct me if I am wrong).
So, anyone help me out to get a new ROM with HTC sense 2.2.3?
Thanks in advanced.
