Hello,
Doesn't work here, same issue as original apk: can't login.
Eclair XWJM6.
Installed on JPC and all seems to be working perfect. BTW I have nver used Skype before so steep learning curve :-S
I have JM1 on tMobile US. Can't sign in, same problem as original
Doesn't work, can't sign in.
Just go to settings and to skype.
Clear catch/data and start skype again.
Now it should work.

Nope, still nothing... My cache was 0 to begin with)
Doesn't work at all...FC all the time when starting this app at the beginning...I'm using DXJP1 Firmware...
Strange. I don't have this problem after i did that and i did have some data.
Try to make a new account and then see if you can log in.
Then wipe the data and try you original skype account again.

weird
i wasn't able to login, after rebooting my phone,
then i went to the app settings from (phonesettings menu)
i did not clear the cache, because it was 0, but i did clear the app data.
make sure u fully close the app , with a taskmanager, because its always on.
(battery taker though)
when i cleared the app data. i restarted it, entered my previously made userinfo, and i was able to login again.
sound is very clear. even over hsdpa
well good luck, if it fails sorry.
How do you clear the data? I have no option to do this.

Why would the modification that allows 3g change whether or not it works for the galaxy? I just don't see the sense in it.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
This version only allows for 3g calling in the US and it wasn't made specifically for the Galaxy S so there is no reason to believe that it would work on 2.1.....
I'm looking in Settings/Applications. Only systems apps give me the option of clearing data, for installed apps clear data is replaced by uninstal. I think this may have been fixed in FROYO.

Well i don't have 2.1 so i can't check that. And what i know you should have 2.2 for skype to work.

Can we make video calls with this?
Works on Froyo (JPH) and T-mobile Netherlands
Works on jpk too. From time to time it canr login but generaly it works. Calls in 3g work too, but i tried only the echo service

yep
First time I logged into the market, it autoupdated all the junk. Goggles and visual voicemail won't update but that's it.
Yeah, I didn't even find "Visual Voicemail" in the marketplace anymore.
I'm pretty sure that T-Mobile might have pulled it from the market entirely.
Anyway, I can't seem to update Google Goggles either. I've tried several times, but it never seems to actually update and install the latest version.
Would it be safe to use Titanium Backup to remove that system application? Or is that not even possible, considering I've read that people have tried to remove the "bloatware" but it just seems to reappear after a reboot.
Any insights?

Damn, no more HD2 huh?
Yeah you can remove the bloatware from your device. Well, disable not remove. Read on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809231
Ha.
No way, Jose!
I still have my HD2, it's just collecting dust on my computer desk right now.
I thought about using it as a fly swatter, but that seemed too dramatic!
KIDDING!
But yeah, that thing is legendary, so I couldn't just be rid of it.
And thanks for pointing me in the right direction man, good lookin' out!
If you don't want to disable the app which is very easy to do over terminal emulator, try freezing the app with titanium backup. That way you can see how your phone will work with it disabled. For example if you freeze/disable the stock messenger app no messaging app will work after that until you unfreeze/enable the stock one. Same thing with youtube. If you freeze the app and download the newer one off the market it wont work.
Some 3rd party app depend on the stock app to be functional. Let me know if you need help disabling an app. I'll make a video. I <3 my new camera. I traded a gun for it.
I can't seem to update Goggles...
I've disabled the application, then tried to update it from the marketplace, and still nothing manages to install.
I have successfully updated every other system application through the marketplace, with the exception of Goggles.
How can this application be updated properly?
Have you tried to enable it then update?

Yeah, of course.
But from what I've been told by a few other users... it's a bug in the ROM that doesn't allow certain handsets to update that application.
I mean, unless you have been able it?
Hya
Just wanted to now witch system apps i can block using autostarts without stopping other apps doing their job. Im on jpm with voodoo lag fix enabled.
For better understanding on what i want to know here is an example:
On eclair i blocked gmail and calendar app from starting up and as a result i had to factory reset my phone. When i rebooted my phone i got so many force quit errors that i couldnt even browse to the autostart app and disable it.
Thanks in advance
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
I am using "Autostarts" since today... i would suggest, that only change one setting at a time to see, if
a. it works
b. the system still can be used
The app is very powerful, but you should know, what you are doing - i am still experimenting with certain settings
All the best,
ww
Thx for reply. And be really carefull, thats what i tried first but some things made my system crash after a few days when i downloaded a ne app what uses a service that the others didnt. Then i got kernel panic a few seconds after boot up (everytime) yso factory reset was needed.
Same is with google talk, u need that to be able to download things. I read it on xda, after factory reset again cause i would never had thought that talks got any thing to do with downloading
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Well - i am still playing around with my settings... but for now, it works pretty good. It is very interesting to see, which apps will be called on certain events.
You can obtain control on the whole system, but every change regarding system and / or google apps can be dangerous indeed.
All the best,
ww
can someone show me how?

How about the stock ROMs without blur? Is there no way of fixing it by rooting? I was hoping there was something I can do under root to fix it?
I use T-Mobile's Social Buzz for that.
Social Buzz didn't work for me properly. What DID work was:
1. Wiping, 2. Flashing a BLUR Rom, 3. Setting up Facebook, 4. Flashing a Deblur'd (Pays) Rom without wiping
Use SyncMyPix, if it gets it wrong just unlink the contact and link it again from within the app

I dunno why, but it doesn't work at the moment. Perhaps I shouldn't have deleted the Motoblur thingy from facebook apps
/edit: yeah, i shouldnt have deleted that... working again

Also a shame it's in pink.
Recent article on Android Police concerning the newest version of the Android Market (as of 1/11/11).
Article Link: http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...te-update-over-wi-fi-only-shortcuts-and-more/
Market_3.3.11.apk Download Link: http://lts.cr/BDW_
New Features (Taken from article):
-New setting: Auto-update apps (Sets all apps to auto-update mode, woohoo!)
-New setting: Update over Wi-Fi only
-New setting: Auto-add shortcuts (Automatically adds homescreen shortcuts for new apps, ala Honeycomb)
-Smaller font
-New app drawer icon
-Microphone (voice command) button in search menu
-Star rating chart on app pages
-Minor UI tweaks
New Features for me coming from 3.1.5 (Please tell me if any of these were present in 3.2.0, so I can add them to the few features list, or remove them from here entirely):
-In "My Apps" view, you can now sort apps by account
-When a new update is shown in the notification bar, it tells you which account it is from.
I installed by moving the .apk to my SD-Card and installing from Root Explorer as I would a regular app. I was using the Market version 3.1.5 previously. I'm not sure how it works if you are using a different Market version, although I assume it works in the same manner.
I can confirm that it works without a hitch on the Desire GSM running CM 7.1.0.
Yup, seems to work for me too. I just installed it how I do any other apk

love the auto all app update....good for us flashers
Works great on my Atrix. Able to install it just like any other apk file (unlike versions 3.1.6 and 3.2). Love the tweaked ui and the new options in settings that allows you to set all apps to auto update and to only update over wifi. Even the voice command button in the search bar is a nice touch. It seems to load quick and is more responsive than 3.1.5. I haven't had any issues with downloads hanging up like in 3.1.5 either.
works a lot faster than the last one too....

It works pretty decent over wifi.
No problems what so ever.
Market app
Thanks very much, this works well on my phone. Copied it to SD card, installed like a normal app via ES File Explorer.Simple and works like a charm.(currently on Froyo 2.2)
Installed last night, works fine for me.

Try clearing the cache and data for the market in manage apps. Some people have reported that to fix their FC problems.
Sometimes a chmod 777 /cache works too

EDIT - MODACO modified apks FOR ANY DEVICE are now up. No root required for these. Below is the original method using the Google Play version of Facebook Home .apk Chat heads will work etc!
****************************************************************************************************************************
So I've finally got Home working on my N4... I knew I'd get it working in the end. Now I've tried it - it's OK.
Instructions...
1. (ROOT NEEDED!) Change build.prop to GS3 / HTC One X etc... BuildPropEditor Just change ro.product.model from 'Nexus 4' to 'HTC One X'. REBOOT to take affect!
2. Delete other versions of FB Home from your phone. Ensure current Facebook AND Messenger apps are updated. Clear these apps data.
3. Download and install home.apk (This is the unmodified Google Play version).
4. Sign in. Facebook app settings > Enable Facebook Home.
5. Revert build.prop and REBOOT!
6. Hit thanks and ENJOY for a little while. Maybe. Then uninstall.

I changed everything I could but here... I think device, model and build are the most important.
thanks for the build prop values. I changed ro.product.device, ro.product.manufacturer ro.product.model ro.product.brand and ro.build.product to the ones you had for the One X. Not sure if all 5 were necessary, but they were easy enough to change, and I got facebook, messenger, and home installed and running then set them back to mako/LGE/Nexus 4/Google as necessary and rebooted, home is working just fine still
Finally got it working!
Cheers.
You are right. I'm sure not all are necessary. I was just making sure I guess.
The ones in the OP are the important ones (I think). Will change once someone confirms.

Wait... So I can change the values, and then once home is running I can change them back? That doesn't seem right to me, but if it's true I'd be so down!

I can confirm that I changed my model back to Nexus 4, rebooted and Home is still there. Neat.
Thanks! That didn't take long haha, works perfectly. I think you should edit the thread so that people will know that they have to reboot in order for the new build.prop settings stick.
Rooted?
Stupid question, but is being rooted a necessity to edit build.prop / model name, etc. ? I tried, but it wouldnt let me save the new info. I'm assuming its cause I'm stock.
Thank you for the instructions wolf boy 1984!
I am having a doubt on step 2. Would you mind clarifying the following?
Is clearing data as in wiping user data from all apps (factory reset basically) or just wiping cache? I assume its would a factory reset, right?
Thanks!
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
Need root I think. I didn't know Nexus owners stayed on stock!
Clear FB app data only!
Might not be necessary even...
Thanks OP, got Home working in minutes.
Either im doing something wrong or chat heads isnt working for me at the moment.
I'll try and use it for a while until Nova lures me back!
To be honest i'd rather see a twitter home launcher
