This is the new Market upgrade. Speed has been very much improved. 3.1.3 was slow.
But 3.1.5 has improved on speed.

I like the new market, but it can be slow to load and updates often get stuck on the loading screen which sucks. Grey loading screens also have a yellow tint on my device. A work in progress I think.

I was having some problems with downloads on the new Market but luckily it has been resolved.
I have to agree the interface is quite smoother now.

The new market is fast, but search is crap. It rarely shows anything.
Update: Search is working fine now

I'm on newest version, but updates often get stuck here too.
Have to use FastBoot and then problem always is solved ...
Do we have to wait for new (non beta) version or did you find a solution?
When I use the new market, apps are missing from the installed list.
Eg, Facebook is not listed even though i have it installed, when I search for it, it says installed.
Also it thinks Maps isn't installed....

Delete data and cache and all apps installed from the market will appear in the list. I also do the same when my apps list loads forever and hangs, after that it's faster for some time. This new market is kinda poorly optimized, hope they release a new version to be as fast as the old skool market.
In my opinion the android market app sucks in any of his versions and with any rom, stock or mod.
It's often slow, sometimes i see an update available for an app but when i click on it there is no update button. When perform a search 80% times it find only porno-nudegirls-related things, and also not so related...
I think google really should have to put a lot more attention and start developing an app that is fast and functional and not the crap we have now... And maybe have more respect for all the serious developers here who post their applications in the market and see theirs accounts gone for no reason as appened to Leo...

Seems to work perfectly for the majority of people. I suggest you may have issues with your device if you find it slow. Also, if you keep finding "porno-nudegirls-related things" then I suggest you stop searching for them
In summary, it works perfectly for me. My only beef would be that it just doesn't have a download button, rather than telling you an app is not compatible.
Also, the Honeycomb Market is sooooo much better, so ICS will clearly have a better version as well.
Wow amazing. It's blazing fast. Worth a shot.
I also got the problem that installed apps are missing in the market(Facebook too and about 20 others). Tried clearing data and cache + reboot didnt help.
Has anyone a clue how it can be solved?

Search bug
when i for example search for "weather" in Market it writes .>> Number of results: 2040 but the list only contains 20 items and there is no possibility to see the rest ...any idea ? fix ?

Market Doctor in Titanium Backup fixes that.
I have already 3.1.5
Ty, but market dr. didnt help because he doesnt recognise the links as missing, also most apps in the market are telling me that my phone is not compatible - my guess is that the market also thinks that my installed apps are not compatible and therefor not shown..
Can anyone help? I have no clue what to do.

Yes ... it's often slow.
Yes ... often there is an update available for an app but when i click on it there is no update button
And nearly every time there actually is an update button present ... update will hang due to some kind of connection error (never start downloading app)
Removing new Market update or (fast) rebooting phone solves this problem until new Market update re-install itself again.
My phone NOT faulty ... new Market or maybe something behind the walls of Goggle is buggy ...
Anybody found a prober solution working on not rooted phone
Hating the new search, If say, 5000 results are found, it'l only show about 200-300, wtf?

The built in app manager in settings allows you to remove or disable almost all the bloatware. No other apps, files, or scripts needed. Do not delete our disable Google play movies.

You can delete anything except Play Movies (Moves.apk, Movies.odex)
why is the reason??
Some list of all apps can i disable on this device?
If you remove play movies you will get a security error and may brick the phone. everything else should be no problem.

Listen its like any other phone.
Just suck it up and buy TiBu.
Reason? Some apps cannot be disabled via os.
I dont know what google did but its total bs with the google apps.
Yes you CAN disable any ap you want, as long as its not a system app you will be gtg.
Have disabled google movies, no issues.
Do not remove apps unless you can for sure retrieve them or will not bork your os!
Removing any app, unless done via custom rom, or you are never going to update, is a bad idea.
My advice:
Never delete Always disable or freeze.
I Have all google apps except the play store disabled. Yes including google movies.
Unfortunaty i dont know if its ics, or just an update but some of the google apps reset or unfreeze themselves.
I also froze anything that says att on it.
I send tibu an email about the google apps re enabling so i imagine at some point theyll fix it.

I second that though, but keep in mind that it was not google that put that security measure in place, it was LG upon googles request.
That happened right after they adopted the jelly bean into the os. We may have to do a little tinkering to find the software thats blocking the mods to 20c.

I would 100% agree titanium bu is one of the best all purpose apps around not just for backups. Use it to freeze or uninstall apps, push apps to be system apps, fix market connections and even sync your backups to drive, box or drop box. Well worth the $!

Seeing as you're new here, i though i'd be nice to you this first time.
Please, no swearing.
The people who posted in the thread are making fun of you because of the absolutely unneeded swearing and nonsense.
To fix your problem you're going to have to tell us some more about your phone and what you've done.
Is it rooted? If so, what rom and kernel are you running?
Did you try to simply reboot the phone? (Also a good idea to cold boot it, meaning to shut it off, remove the battery, put it back in and boot up).
It's doesn't help what so ever to force close apps that are not misbehaving. The Android system manages this perfectly fine. Only force close an app if there is something wrong with it.
What apps have you installed? Some of them might be taking up alot of RAM and running in the background.
I was nice to you, now please do the same to us.
You came to us asking a question like that, you should be gracious that we're even replying.

Sure.
My Samsung Galaxy note 2 is not rooted.
I restart my phone couple of times if the number exceeded.
I have 39 apps downloaded from Google Play.

Okay.
If your phone is running slowly and you're not rooted, then it is 99% sure an app problem.
It could be a hardware flaw in your phone, but my guess is app related (If your phone was as slow as it is now, when you got it, it is probably hardware related).
Try uninstalling any unneeded apps, like various tools you downloaded once to try it out, games you dont really play, etc etc.
Try to clear your cache. There are several apps out there that can do it (Some require root, and can clear more caches than non-root ones can, just try a non-root cache cleaner).
After doing that, do a cold boot as i refered to in my last post and see if it is better.
If not, try and go into Settings, Applications, Running Applications and see if there are any major apps that you installed yourself (not the ones that came with the phone) running and try to uninstall the ones taking up the most power, then do a cold boot again and see if it improved.
If nothing works, try and post a list of the apps you have installed on your phone that you installed yourself.

I don't think its hardware related. When I got first my Note 2 it was suprisingly fast. So it's probably the apps.
I've cleared all my caches, deleted a lot of unneeded apps and also done the cold boot after that I navigated to Settings>Applications manager> running apps.
I noticed samsung's keyboard took 55mb of ram, google service 20mb. maps 32mb. play store 10mb. settings 39mb 0_0. Those apps that came with the phone took a lot of ram. why is that? is there anyway to decrease the number?
You can use Titanium Backup to freeze or unintstall any apps that aren't needed by the OS. This will prevent them from ever starting up again.
Is the used up ram actually causing you problems? As I understand it android will make use of the ram to help switch apps quicker. So if its high its not a problem.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
there are apps out there that tells you which apps uses the most cpu cycles. i can't recommend one as i don't use them, but might help you pinpoint your problem-app.

As far as I know, it makes my phone laggy when the number is high and the animation when you open a folder seems slow and also for notifications
Running jbsourcery v5 (4.2.2). I can't get any process to stay running at all. Lmt dies on me and restarts after browsing the web for a bit, after that it seems to die and restart every 5 mins. I downloaded sidebar today and its the same story but worse. The memory doesn't even need to be loaded, just lightly using my phone it dies and doesn't come back until I start it manually, this happens about every 5 mins and is EXTREMELY annoying. I've tweaked every single memory setting back and forth and also tried converting both to system apps but they force close and don't work.is there any way to force android to keep a process running or keep this from happening?
Edit: I should mention this has never happened with the weather bug status bar temperature. It sucks because both those apps are completely useless if they don't stay running
for anyone else with the same problem whether its a different app or not, i think i found the answer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1012330
i just copied another file in my init.d, renamed it and added the info for the app and restarted. i checked it with rom toolbox and it shows the OOM group as being excluded... vs foreground, visibile, empty app, etc. time will tell but i think this is going to work and i can think of another 2 or 3 times this would have been amazing to know. in any event, hopefully someone else may find this useful.
noobish disclaimer: it would be HIGHLY advised not to do this with any apps that have a large memory footprint
aaaanddd. it still doesnt work, app already disappeared. would this be classified as a legitimate memory leak?

lol i was just about to mention that. i wasnt finding anything about it at first because i was googling locking processes in memory. once i changed processes to applications, i found a thread mentioning it, and so far, it looks like this might have finally solved it. i havent had sidebar close yet so its looking pretty good.
Rooted it today. First android phone I've ever owned (though been jailbreaking since 2009).
I installed Ttanium Backup, and i think i backed up my apps and data, but not exactly sure where to, as i don't have an SD card in it yet. If I backed up to the phone, I'm guessing that's mostly useless. But I'm new to this stuff so i don't really know.
So, now that i have root access, what apps should i be installing?
What stuff should i be uninstalling or freezing?
What cool things can i now do that i couldn't do yesterday?
Anything specific to the OGP that i should or should not do?

You can block ads, search adaway here on xda since Google recently rid the store of all ad blocking apps. You can use programs like sqlite editor to enable hotspot even if you're not subscribed to a plan that supports it. You can use xposed framework also here on xda (under our phones themes and apps) to apply themes to the phone. You can disable built in apps using titanium backup. Also, you should install Cwm under android development for our phone and make a nandroid backup in case you ever screw up your phone.
Best of all, you can install greenify root to make your battery last a lot longer. It hibernates apps for you that would normally run in the background.
When we have our bootloader unlocked is when the real fun will start though.

Thank you!
Couple more questions...I was able to do a search for adaway, and found it, but you mention (under our phones themes and apps), and could not find that. Is there a section that just has XDA Apps in it? All I was able to find was forums, and not repositories (don't know if that's the right word).
Basic newbie question...if an app is listed as being for Jellybean 4.1, can we use it even it was made for a Galaxy S3 for example? If it's Jellybean 4.1 is it good to go?
As to adaway...if you disable ads, will some programs refuse to run?
Is the hotspot app, safe for my phone bill?
If you "disable" apps using titanium backup, does it remove them from the phone, or just hide them? What is freezing an app? And if later you want to have them back (let's say for a trip to the cell store) are they readily returned to view?
I was under the impression (probably wrongly) that CWM at this point could brick our phone. Am I mistaken? And where does the nandroid backup get stored? Hopefully not on the phone...
I ask a lot of the above questions as being a new android user (2-weeks now), I'm clicking or checking out everything I see on the phone (and in the store(s) to learn about what it can do. I'm also installing a ton of apps that are new to me, and I've also gone to some non-Google Play stores to DL some stuff. I know that sooner or later I'm going to want to restore the phone to factory stock to get rid of conflicts, viruses (virii?), and anything that does not play well with other stuff. So, during this learning quest, I assume I'm going to frag the phone in some way, and will have the need to return it to stock (hopefully without needing to go back to the store)!!! I just want to have a bit of assurance that with everything I do, I can get back to stock.
Lastly, is there anything somewhat similar to iTunes that will make a restore a bit less time consuming. Is Titanium Backup what I"m searchnig for?
Wasn't aware of greenify root.. will give that one a go right now!

Thanks for mention greenify root, I install it. It's a hit!!
Now that I'm rooted (and installed some associated apps) I've noticed some laggy operation. When I'm on pretty much any of the home screens, and click on the app drawer icon, I'm brought to the page where I see "Apps", "Downloads", and "Widgets" at the top, but occasionally I have a blank screen below that. It stays blank for anywhere from one to three seconds and then the apps and folders appear. Sometimes they will show up instantly, but quite often there is a few second lag. The only things I've installed since rooting are Root Checker, Titanium Backup and Greenify. I'm not sure whether it is the root or the new apps, so I guess I can uninstall the three apps and see.
I also seem to be getting the circling "please wait" message more often than in the past.
Anybody else experiencing this? And does this sound like a root issue or an issue from one of the three apps?
