It seems like my evo is full of problems.
1.(attachment 2) Is a 4 hour battery normal?
2.(attachment 1) Why would my evo always be at 100% CPU usage. I don't think I was even using the phone at the time.(If this has anything to do with it, when I installed widget locker I checked the box to bypass the 5 second android limitation, I forget What it was)
3.(attachment 4) Shouldn't the up time and awake time be diffident? Is this whats killing my battery?
did this start recently? if so have you just installed tango?

Let it sit idle with the screen off for a couple minutes and check it again. I also see you have skype running in the background. I hear that's a battery hog as well.

thanx guys for this wonderful post. i was pulling my hair off since last nite bc my wake n up was the same with 100% usage. i have made my own rom so i knew i had done stuff right. finally after readin this forum i found out it was damn Tango. uninstalled it and its back ot normal. its a shame its such a great app i hope they fix it.
I was also going nuts with the same issue... I hope they sort out the wakelock issue with Tango, because it would be great otherwise.

hey folks,
i need some direction with a particular problem...
check out the attached screenshots. why is the "android system" percentage so high?? i'm still in my learning stages, so i'm not sure how i can get rid of some of the processes, which i know are seriously harping on my battery life (which is great, but it can be much better, ya know?)..
any help would be appreciated!
It's so high because you were probably using your phone for the two minutes it was unplugged. Therefore, android system took up the majority of the battery used so far (which might be next to nothing since it was only two minutes).
Get a good task manger. You can exclude apps you want running and kill ones you don't. Also, there's a lot of battery optimization in rooted roms.

well, unplugged, it's usually 30-40% anyway. that's waaaay too high, especially since i keep hearing it being 2-3% here on the forums.

i don't really like to have a task manager. i'm wondering what kind of processes are useless. or maybe it's my dc rom that's letting them run?
Is it doing it all the time or just once in a while?

well, right now, it's at 4%, but i haven't touched it to use it, and it's unplugged. but, yesterday, i was at work, and i only used it a few times to text, respond to emails, check twitter (cyanogen stalking lol), and check time. it was at 30-40% at those times.
im new with android operating system so this might not be the entirely correct .. from my experience once you use the phone for multitasking and not closing the applications .. thats when that happens.
it also seems to happen when your batteries critically low and u click on the battery usage prompt that comes up.. hope that helps..

Do you feel it really increases battery time?
I am currently trying out Juice Defender free on the standard preset for my unmodded Galaxy Nexus. Unfortunately I am not thinking that I am going to continue with it.
So far it has crashed my phone to reboot (first time that has happened) and when not using my 4g it turns it off but it takes forever for it to come back on once I want to use the phone and it gets pretty frustrating having a useless phone for about 5-8 minutes everytime I pick it up.
I hope you have better luck than I am having.

Strange. It's never done any of that on mine. I'm on HSPDA+ though.
As for whether if makes a difference I'd definitely have to say a big yes. But it all depends on how you use your phone.
Ultimate working nicely here. Syncs every 15 min like it should. Screen is eating 60-70% so it makes only a small difference.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I bought ultimate, and found it to be a bit of a hog. I then turned off all the extra stuff and went back to the basic setting - the same as the free version, and noticed very little difference.
I think it might help you if you're one of those people who accidentally leaves radios on, or don't have high signal most places you go. For me a UV kernel made the only real difference.
It works well but not saving as much battery as it did on Gingerbread. Default Android idle-time battery management seems to have got much better.

This. I see a nice increase in battery life while I'm not using it, but if I have it on a lot (which I usually do) the battery gets drained pretty quickly.
I keep my phone on CDMA mode most of the time, unless I need to download something or want to watch a movie, then I switch to CDMA/LTE. I'm still not sure how much it helps though, as I've only had the phone for a little over a week.
For me, JD Ultimate works wonders. Especially when I'm at work and not playing with the phone too often and having only 2 signal bars, JD enables radio every 30 mins to allow apps to sync. It also manages my brightness automatically, which results in screen usually taking less than 50% of battery.
In general it helps me a lot, like it did on SGS2. My night schedule uses airplane mode and I only loose 2-3% over night.
I would have to remember about too many things if not using JD, so for me well worth it.

It does, i never used beta and JD controls my brightness. Remember there is a bug related to manual apk install where you cant tap install. I still use JD for brightness, just disable it in quick menu when manually installing apps then reenabling right away.

When JD is managining brightness, if the phone is asleep, when waking it up with the power button the screen comes full brightness and then settles to a lower level, which is quite annoying. Do you see this happening too?

That is totally weird, cause mine seems to wake up high and only then lower the brightness. I wonder if it's ROM related, although I'm on stock kernel 4.0.3.

Beacuse, believe it or not, it provides functions that some people find useful. Same goes for LightFlow, if you like the white-only color led notification of pure android, then you don't need this app either. If you prefer more colors/choices, then you do.

I purchased JD Ultimate yesterday so I can't really comment on how well it is improving my battery life. I will say that I am having issues going back to LTE when the screen is unlocked (Using the network mode setting). The phone keeps going to WCDMA instead of LTE. However, I noticed that since I have been using JD Beta 3.8.8, version 3.8.9 has come out and has addressed a few of my issues. The configure apps now works without crashing JD. I still don't know if the LTE is functioning incorrectly as I haven't had time away from my computer (I have no Wi-Fi at my hotel and must tether).
Is anyone else experiencing issues with the phone going to WCDMA mode after the phone wakes up? Also, what version of JD are you using?
I'm relatively new to android but have a computer background. I'm rooted and have flashed about a dozen or so different ROMS but ended up back to stock for a few of the TW features. I've been keeping an eye on my battery lately and noticing a extremely high number of wake ups from my maps application. Last night specifically I went to bed at 11:30ish with 39% batt life remaining. I woke up and 7am and I have 19% remaining. Phone wasn't in use at all. I had 3 emails and a google+ message come through over night. Looking at GSam Battery monitor maps has very high usage for something i'm really not using at all. it used 15% of my battery coming in below the kernal at 15.4% and the android system at 28.5%. The phone was held awake for a total of 1h 11m in the last 14h by maps alone and had 1743 wake ups.
I have since gone in and turned off location services. I was not using latitude or anything. Not using GPS although I do leave it on. I have google now installed and really liked the fact it would give me driving info when it was my usual time to head to or from work. The alerts for traffic for calendar appointments was also awesome so i'd preferably like to keep those working if possible.
If anyone has any info that could help it would be greatly appreciated!
Here are some screenies to help just in case.
You could try freezing maps with titanium backup. Not sure what effects it will have on anything else though. Just a suggestion.

Well I use maps all the time. I just didn't happen to be using it in the last charge cycle. So far this morning I went into the maps settings and toggled locatoins settings- report from this device to off. I'm currently charging (off my laptop so it's slow) and once I'm at 100% I can run another cycle and see if it's made any difference. So far it looks like the number has stayed the same.

Yeah i've seen some posts but Latitude was off and most of the other instructions for disabling more services were for different devices so the setting paths were different. Maybe this will actually work. I've noticed a bunch of wakes preventing periods of deep sleep as well. crossing my fingers I solved it myself.
small update, looks like turning off the location history does stop google now from working with the traffic updates. While I really like this service, i'm not sure it's worth the battery life it's taking to fuel it. Could be related to using a port of google now with ICS and not official jelly bean, at least that is what i'm hoping.
Well it looks like I got maps fixed but now the system is crushing my battery. I'll let the screenshots do the speaking. Really looking for someone with some expertise to help me out. I'm lost other than switching to a CM10 ROM.

Not only have I rebooted, I did a Titanium backup of my apps, factory reset, and only restored my apps. no system settings.
The only thing I can think of is that I installed a few packages to enhance the stock rom. I'm going to flash over a completely fresh version and go from there.
Oh wow, well good luck! I would recommend looking at CM10 tho. Been using it for a month or two now and haven't looked back.

In the attached screenshots you can see that my battery drained about 80% in just 5:40 hours, it drained just using whatsapp a few times while listening music.... is my battery drain normal? or may i have some issues? I hibernate things I don't want auto syncing or running while the phone is off and not in use, like maps, games, tune-in radio, etc. If you start to have problems with any of the apps on your hibernate list just un-greenify them. If you don't care about facebook notifications/sync you can try adding it to the list.

I second greenify. I just updated it and had re-greenify and I watched it free up 250 mb of ram. Also if your lucky enough to sleep till 9 who cares about phone stuff! Kids=Sleep deprivation!)
Ok so I bought this phone on Monday. The very first day it gave me a mammoth battery life. I mean a ridiculous OST of 5h 45m 9s and still 7% juice left (screenshots attached in 2nd post).
And then the very next day issues started. First the Android OS... I charged my phone 100% and slept. Woke up and saw it at around 61%.. Shocked and unhappy. Googled a bit and by Noon I stopped a lot of Samsung **** going on at the back. Android OS became normal but MEDIA started to show its baddd side..
And just try to see in the screenshots, it shows the WIFI was on all time/all the time. However I never turned it on. It was off all night.
Screenshots are attached below. Would love some help/guidance here.
And one more thing. All of a sudden the Lock Screen's funky wallpaper has changed into a blue screen wallpaper that has some weird shortcuts ! Why is it happening. Restating the device brings back the same funky paint color wallpaper but then within minutes its back to the same sh*t.
First day usage SCs
do you have any screenshot(s) of the blue screen wallpaper with the weird shortcuts? I'm not experiencing any issues like this.
Don't you think you've touched it unconsciously while you're asleep with parts of your body that toggled the wifi and other stuff?
Try a factory reset

Oh factory reset sucks lol. By the way, I was reading from somewhere (android central forum i think) that to kill Android OS frome ating up all battery, install some CLEAR RAM app to clear your RAM.. which I did. And yesternight I figured out that this clear ram app changed my lockscreen itself..without asking me. So i deleted. Also, I deleted everything on SD Card and removed it. Now I dont know whats keeping the Android OS and MEDIA up all the time. The apps I have installed so far are:
skype, whatsapp, viber, sacebook and temple run. They were installed from day 1 so if they are creating problems, why didnt they create any impact on Day 1? And these are pretty normal apps which I dont think should create any problem.
Plus, wifi always on issue is resolved to by unchecking some option in wifi menu.

first l sympatise with you. There is no problem on Unrooted phone that factory reset cannot Solve except it is factory fault issue, but this is not factory Cos it was ok on day 1.
Your instant messager like Skype and BBM are mainly the applications that hog battery.
Ensure you did not restrict background processes in Developers option.
Ensure your wifi 'and GPS are off when you don't need them.
Don't install any process killer.
Stop auto update
put your phone in battery saving mode.
check to see If there is downloading process going on at background
Also see if there is live streaming (MEDIA SERVER) going on sites you visited like Youtube.
check the running processes in application manager in setting and check if any is constantly RESTARTING. Look for a way to stop such .
