My mail has been updating every 15 minutes forever. However, 7: 31 A. M. was the last time Htc Mail updated within the app. Even with a manual sync. It only updates the last refresh time & doesnt show any new mail. Every other mail app works.
Things I have Done:
- Rebooted phone
- wiped cache &davlik
- Factory reset & re-flashed Rom
- Reset & tried a diff Rom
- Deleted mail account and re-added it
More Info:
- I can send mail from this Yahoo! Account
- My gmail account updates properly within htc mail
Any ideas? For now, Ive downloaded K-9 Mail & will try it out.

Have you tried going to Applications management and clearing the mail apps data and or cache?
I don't know if you're restoring your apps through a backup program but it's possible it's just restoring that data/cache which [could be] causing the issue.
Thanx. Ive cleared the cache & data from manage applications, tried to re-enter my email and got the failed to authenticate error. Switched it from Pop to imap and it logged in but stopped at the same email.... Didnt work...
Btw... I have been using Titantium Backup to restore apps and data

OP I know that its been awhile since you posted your question but I did some messing around with the setting and came up with this and it worked for me:
YAHOO IMAP
Incoming IMAP Mail ServerSetting :
User Name : [email protected]
Password : your email password
Incoming Mail Server : imap.n.mail.yahoo.com
Mail Box Name : Yahoo IMAP
Mail Box Type : IMAP
Security (Port) : Off
Port : Default
Let me know if this works for you!
Sorry for the late response. I found that my problem came from restoring my mail app data with titanium. Reflash your rom & if you do a restore, uncheck the box next to Mail first & you'll avoid future problems. Hope that helps others.

Yesterday I updated to a 3.70 rom, gmail synced fine and I had no trouble receiving emails. Now I can't send emails and it looks like I never could also it says I have 4 emails but I can't view them. What should I do? Should I try reinstalling the gmail app, as I restored it from a backup?

I added another account as a test and it is working great should should I try removing and then adding my primary account?

Did you try going into Manage Applications and clearing Data and Cache for gmail?
It won't delete your emails and It'll all reload once you open it up again.
1) Try clearing cache+data for Gmail.
2) Try removing and re-adding your account.
3) See if you can log in to Google Talk.
Those should narrow down the problem.
Solution (if rooted)
I had this same problem, try to send and the messages stay stuck on sending and notifications won't clear. clearing cache and data, and reboot didn't work.
Uninstalled with titanium as was installed on system and reinstalled from market. works perfectly now
I just got my scmexy new Galaxy S III from Bell. Everything works great except email sync. For whatever reason it simply refuses to even fetch the email and as a result there is no notification upon the arrival of a new message. The only time it will show the email is if I open Gmail and manually refresh.
Is anyone else having this issue?
I also from time to time get "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped." I don't know if this is a related issue but I can only assume. I normally get that message when I open the browser, but I can force the error by enabling and disabling sync.
I am on a Rooted Stock Rom with no further modifications. Keep in mind this was happening before root.

I've only had my S3 for a couple days now and have this same problem. Mobile Data and Packet Data are both on... My APN is the same a what it was with my old S2 which worked fine. Not sure?

Its seems to be something with the sync interval, but I am at a loss on how to chnage it.

It is indeed checked. I must note that all my other services sync fine. Calender, picasa web all that good stuff. It is just Gmail. I seem to be receiving the notifications now but they are severely delayed now.
I'm thinking the problem lies with the Sync Frequency. I know on my i9000 I could set the frequency manually (i.e. 1minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes, Sync Off) but I don't seem to be able to locate that menu now.
Turn off Internet sync to get rid of gapps fc issue. Internet sync, syncs bookmarks to stock browser.

I can't figure it out, Gapps is royally farked. I can't send emails in it either and now it is refusing to connect to any Google Services. I have tried on LTE, HSPA, WiFi and (just for kicks) GSM
Here's what I did because Sync uses battery life.
- removed Gmail app.
- opened the stock email app
- entered my gmail credentials in and select manual setup
- leave everything the same but in the server, enter m.google.com
and voila, you'll have push email instead of syncing at different intervals.
Intesting. I completely forgot about Push Email, which would explain the Sync Interval thing. Gmail's app uses push. Since GAPPS isn't connecting properly, I guess I know what my issue is.
Sigh, I hate resets

How does CM9 Work for you?
Any issues?
Nope! none at all! I'm using it with This Kernel and it's awesome!
my wife is using CM9 on her Note and it's super stable..

How is the Battery Life compared to stock?
I couldn't tell you, I bought the phone new, powered it on once for about 10 seconds and rooted / cm9 lol
you can undervolt the CPU to save battery life, there is also a governor that you can set it to so that it reduces batt consumption.
I'd try it, you have nothing to lose.
I've had this gmail issue from time to time. I usually can fix it but going to settings - applications - all - gmail - clear data and clear cache. Give it a shot

Hi,
i am facing mail Configuration issue with exchange server, i have Xperia S and it has ICS, my office mail id is working fine before 2-3 days, but suddenly it not working, so i delete and try to reconfigure, but while configuration i entered all details but it always give me error "incorrect username or password", i tried same on webmail its working fine with same username and password. please let me know the solution.
my another issue is my phone's RAM it shows me around 600MB then where is the other ?
Thanks !
Regards,
Ankit
Same thing happened to me with my school email. Worked for a year then one day it just stopped. What it was is the school changed their server so they could funnel email to their new app.
So I set up my account through my native phone app and these are my settings that seem to work
Edit: oddly enough the hotmail app works for me suddenly lol. Recently I did re-flash my firmware then re rooted and deodexed maybe that fixed it
Actually uninstall the app if your using the hotmail app, then go to settings then backup and reset and uncheck it, it should warn you it will delete any saved backups hit ok then reinstall the app and try the account again. I just noticed on my ion under backup and reset that it saves deleted app settings so if your app bugged out in the settings it will always come back unless you delete your back-up
Hi everyone,
I am having problems getting my Gmail to sync with my phone and it's driving me crazy. I can open the Gmail app and refresh manually and I receive emails, but they don't sync automatically. I've spent days trying to fix this, searched the internet and tried all of the suggestions I could find. So, here's what I've done (each of these I have tried several times at least, except for the factory reset which I only did once):
-Rebooted
-Checked that sync is enabled from pull down menu. Toggled off and on
-Checked that Gmail is set to sync under accounts->settings. Toggled off and on
-Checked that Gmail is set to sync in the gmail app. Toggled off and on
-Enabled background data. Toggled off and on
-Checked that Gmail notifications are enabled
-Under notifications settings checked to be notified for every message, then unchecked
-Using different Wifi networks or data connection
-Cleared Gmail cache and data
-Removed and re-added gmail account
-Overriding filters in Gmail, and disabling overriding filters
-Disabling ad blocking
-Factory reset
Sometimes the messages will sync, other times they won't. When I clear Gmail data it might work for a few messages then stop working for no apparent reason. Sometimes they will end up in "Important" mail but not in the inbox (I set up notifications for "Important" mail and that works SOME of the time). On the web the messages always end up in my inbox. On my Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 they always end up in the inbox and I always get the notification immediately, so no problems with either of those devices.
Any other suggestions I can try? I'm willing to try just about anything. Anyone else have this problem or does it work fine for you? My next move is flash cyanogenmod or update to 4.3 (which I really don't want to do since I know there's no going back), that's how frustrating this is. Oh yeah, I'm using the Telus version of the S3 with stock 4.1.2 and rooted with latest TWRP recovery.
Edit: Forgot to mention that when using K9 mail seems to sync fine, but I strongly prefer the default Gmail app to K9.
Uninstall/reinstall GMAIL
Always works for me when I have issues with gmail.
Heeter
Forgot to mention that I did uninstall Gmail and downloaded it again from the market, but that didn't help. I also tried replacing it with older versions of the gmail app but that didn't help either. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Hi all,
Has anyone noticed the stock email app puts deleted mails into the "important" folder instead of the bin in the Gmail account? Don't know if it's just me, my account or my phone.

Tried changing settings inside Google account online, hunted through Google search for a reason, cleared cache and data but no joy. It doesn't put all deleted mail in important, just odd one or two but after a while I ended up with a right abundance of crap in there.

The Gmail app and the stock email app both behave the same, so it can't be the actual client, it must be the way Google handles some particular email. My yahoo account works fine in both client apps
