Sorry for being so late. I've been extremely busy recently..
Thank you very much.

I've made a new update.zip
This is 98% identical with the original Voodoo lagfix-only 3.0.
the only differences are
1. loading modules on booting.
2. using stock JM8 kernel
Thanks ^^
# to users who are using the previous voodoo-with-stock kernels
-> Overwrite it!
##########
THANK YOU SUPERCURIO!!!!!
##########
### EDIT ###
1. updated JM9 support!!
2. FroYo JPM support : just remove the ".zip" at the end (Only for Odin flashing at the moment)
Sound interesting.
What about Benchmarking and battery life?
Thanks for developing.
Quadrant scores? Pros and Cons over VooDoo??
How did you modify the JM8 kernel? I thought we were limited to using the source provided by Samsung for the kernel (which is probably not the exact same as the ones used in its firmwares). Anyway, great work! Off to read more about NILFS2 now

Any chance for a JH2 or JM5 kernel as well? Preferably with EXT4! I don't like NILFS2 myself, since it feels sluggish.

This is great news. Could you post a version that uses EXT4 with the JM8 kernel please? I'd like to use the stock kernel rather than one compiled from source like in voodoo because I assume it's better optimised. Could you also post the files you used and some instructions on how you did it? I'd like to have a look at how it's implemented. Thanks!

Please read your own benchmark! Solid state != Spinning disk.
Not to say the results would definitely change, but the benchmark itself is fairly useless for the SGS.
Is this going to work even though I have JM1 installed? Having that you used the JM8 kernel.

So this is only a repacked zImage with nilfs2.ko kernel module? To compile the kernel module you still need the kernel sources, right? Just asking because you mentioned in your last thread (if i remember right) that you are working on a froyo version...

Ah! Awesome! I must've missed thar thread.
Been using this for the past 2 hours, and the phone is flying! Sure I get a low Quadrant score but my phone has never been this fast and responsive. I must say, it's even faster than the ext4 voodoo fix.
But does it keep taking "snapshots" every now and then or have you disabled this feature? 'Coz I wouldn't want excessive reads and writes on my internal sd unnecessarily. I had low expectations for this fix considering the snapshot "feature" of the filesystem and the benchmark posted earlier in this thread, but now I'm amazed by how fast this is!
On rfs, loading apps like xda or gallery for the first time resulted in 3-4 seconds of black screen. With ext4 voodoo, about 1 second for xda and 3-4 seconds for gallery. But now with this one, xda opens up instantly and the gallery loads up within a second! Very impressed I am. Thanks for the wonderful work

Emm, is initramfs_data.cpio.zip the update.zip ? Cos from what I understand its not. Than where the original file is?
Never mind, managed to look at it just as it was reuploaded =)
So, should it be alright to disable voodoo, flash any other kernel (to remove lagfix), remove disabling file, flash your kernel?
EDIT2. Do you mind uploadng the stock JM8 kernel for reverting, since you have it?

Is it a fully working Steam??? I will surely try if it is.
i tryed some options and it worked, testing is welcome
Does it replace the CWM? Does it have all the basic CWM functions working? To go back, can we just flash another kernel with CWM or we need to flash a whole ROM?
I guess if you have a 'what's working' list & a 'to-do' list, we can start testing it.

Seriously forget about BLN & other petty stuff. Go ahead and make a working STEAM KERNEL..
PS : This is some real good work.
PS2 : You need to put a BOUNTY on it.
PS3: checkout & rename your [ALPHA] to a version # looks good on the Title.
im not doing a lot of improvements, im working on some ideas on the work other ppl does for the other SGSs versions and thinks i would like, like this steam kernel
it is my V3 base kernel, it has tinyRCU, ondemand scheduler and BFQ sched
there is NO BLN because it caused problems with a2dp audio
Will keep a watch on this thread.
great man..lot's of options in steam menu...
some explanation about that? can u provide or give a link about lots of options we have now?
can i put everything in ext2????

Can we make the conversion to ext 2, 3 or 4 with this Steam Kernel?
And, it's too complicated to have some overclocking room on near future with this kernel? Like something to make easy to overclock with Set CPU and some setcpu.txt files?
Thanks, Luis! You're one of the most active developers to I9000B and we all should be completely thankful to you!
Keep with the good work! Congrats!
Ok. Running on JFS and everything seems to be ok and pretty fast till now. About 1500 on Quadrant and, just to mention, I've made a full conversion without backup. Wiped out everything to be sure if anything goes wrong it's not caused by apps and past configurations. Missed the ext4 conversion to test. Not tested ext2.

Oh well...
I'm still running everything on JFS and it's pretty fast and smooth, without bugs as I could see. But after some research found that it could be interesting to put /cache and/or /system to ext2. Anyone already tried this? It really should make some difference?

If you come from an Overcome kernel then just flash the .zip via CWM and reboot, your system was already been converted from Overcome kernel.
If you come from a stock kernel then your system it is rfs and will be not touched.

Good work!! Unfortunately, I can't test your kernel since I have a P1000L tab...
Just one question, you said that you choose to avoid RAM and LCD undervoltage. Can you tell me why? I have been using aggressive undervoltage settings for LCD (2.1V) and I haven't noticed anything until now. No glitches, no weird things. But I know that this can change between devices. Do you know if anyone has had any kind of problems with undervoltage?
Thanks!
Ronan
Ronan, good work to you since i've only applied your patches Thanks.
About RAm and LCD undervolting i've always had some doubt about the real gain in battery save and after seeing this post from Technomancer i've decided to give it a try.
Till now my battery last even better than before, don't know, it could be a placebo effect though
Too bad that i have only one feedback till now that i have 45 downloads

Good evening
i created my first mod for our beloved Samsung Galaxy S Plus.
This bootanimation is based on this one >>klick<<.
Originally this bootanimation was made for HTC Legend with its data in the text and its screen resolution (480x320). I created new PNG pictures with other logos and system information of i9001 and used them with some other customizations to make this work on resolution of 480x800.
I succesfully tested this on my Device.
Installation:
1. Download this MOD and save it on your SD-card
2. Backup your original sanim.zip from system/media
3. replace the original sanim.zip with the one you downloaded here, for example with root manager.
4. reboot your device
5. Press THANKS-Button if you like this
YOU NEED ROOT AND DEODEX FOR THIS MOD!!!
YOUR ROM AND KERNEL MUST SUPPORT CUSTOM BOOTANIMATIONS VIA SANIM.ZIP
ONLY TRY THIS IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR BRICKED DEVICES.
For some reason ive lost bootanimation since ive flashed the cranium v6 kernel over Broodrom RC2(before that i had broodrom bootani) zanim.zip is still in system/media but for some reason it doesnt work, i get a black screen for bootanimation, phone works perfect tho. any idea on why it doesnt work?

yes, that's the point of it. You replace the current kernel with another one that supports bootanimations.
I'm not aware of any other solutions for this.
But oh well, i'm not really a professional at this, so there might be another solution

As crybert already said, it's a bug the cranium v6 kernel has.
So i'd suggest flashing the feamod 1.4 with the feacore phoenix kernel.
Just try it out, if you don't like it, you can always switch back to cranium again.
It's an easy flash with CWM

Unfortunately not, since I am pretty noob myself maybe if its not too much work make 2versions? 1 400 and 1804 or sth. But its a lot of work for a small detail I guess. But it would be cool.

Not sure as this belongs here or not, but I think this is the best place for it. This will allow you to add init.d to your phone without CWM. I got it working for me, so I hope everyone else will have the same fortune.
Requirements:
1.Root
2.Fully installed Busybox
3. Windows computer
Instructiions:
Download and run runme.bat
Credits:
keunhuvac - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1577545
Added the CWM version to the OP - Quick instructions:
Put on your SD card or somewhere you can find on your phone and flash with CWM - done!
Files from his forum - Xperia S - has been edited to remove errors
Please note this will fail if any of the Busybox symlinks are not complete!

I am not sure it works.
1. the 06dalvik script did not create /cache/dalvik-cache folder.
2. the 99test did not create any file in /data/local/tmp.
does our kernel support init.d?

Mine is working, if you got some errors during the load process, I need to know.
If thing to do is check your symlinks and make sure that they are all there for busybox.
Use this to check your symlinks:https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsInN0ZXJpY3Nvbi5idXN5Ym94Il0.
If any one is missing, it could stop the install process.
On the thing about our kernel supporting init.d, the answer is not currently and that is why we have to use this program. It will allow compatibility with our kernel to have init.d.
The busbox is ok.
I can run it rom my terminal on the phone as well as adb shell.
There were no errors during installation.
Edit:
I ran the script again today.
The init.d works. the 99test did create a file in /data/local/tmp.
INIT.D installed. Excellent! Now to look up some tweaks. You da man Popfan.

Thanks for the feedback. I was starting to wonder if anyone knew what this can do for their phone.

A lot of good stuff. I am going to see if I can get the tweaks to run at 100%, here in a few days. I loved it when I ran this on my cappy.

Running it at 50% is pretty good also. The script will at least zipalign, check for proper permissions on all apps, clean the delvik-cache, and reorganize the task manager priorities and also your ram manager settings. You should try the battery calibration script that is there also, it is really nice.

Script manager is easiest. Don't forget to use as root for all those scripts.
I did forget that it will also allow for a powershift, so you can change your settings on the fly if you need more multitasking capabilities than power savings or more power.
If you get v6 working please post any differences you notice. esp launcher re-draws. <that to me is one of the most annoying things ever. and would love to know that there is something that can be done about it

It looks like it is going to be a little tricky, but at 50% I can tell the Xperia Launcher is working better and almost never see any lag. With Nova Launcher, it just flies.
That's awesome news. What exactly do you mean by 50%... The CPU? Or what?

It reads like there are extra manual steps to get ICS fully super charged.
Sent from Rooted LT28at with ICS.
It does not look like the latest CWM that I put will be compatible with the extra mods, after I put the cwm together and flashed it bricked my phone. I have put my phone back to where it was before the modifications for the ICS supercharger (the service.jar and service.odex modded part) and works just fine without the additional mods, but I don't think I am going to try to mod the phone again (wife will get mad at me if I hard brick my phone).

you may first run the script with the smanager and it will automatically save profile of the script.
you can then go to menu>list and search for the profile and enable su and boot options.
this will make the script applied everytime on boot.
oh, and make sure you have su access on the smanager app.
thanx man
works great....awesome
cheers

It should work on every ROM since it only alters some kernel parameters.
BTW: Are there any disadvantages using this?

Yes you can use this with v6 supercharger and thunderbolt scripts but to take better effect,
you'll have to disable ALL other scripts like i mentioned in the first post.
