Ok so for the past couple day's I have run setCPU max at 614400 and min at 384000. I feel like the phone runs just as fast, swype lags a TINY bit. Other than that it seems like everything runs just as fast as if it was stock speed or overclocked. Has anyone else tried leaving it underclocked? results? speeds? battery life?

You run any live wallpapers? I could see that slowing it down some possibly.
no, no live wallpapers
Can't say I notice any difference either... lol.. will try a day of underclocking and see if there are any notable savings

Are youu are having it run all the time at 128?
I am using King#4, i just tried putting it at 245 for everything and there is definitely noticeable slowdown in everything.
I'm using kings #4 too and it lags really bad on my phone. What kernel should I switch.too?

What are your settings? Just installing a kernel should not result in horrible lag on your phone.
Ive switched my setting around alot, im trying the hydra kernels, im on the second one, but im prob going to have to switch and try the third one.
*Every once and a while my phone freezes and say HTC sense has failed.... force close or wait... Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi, when I first installed 2.2 I was very pleased with the score. I always hit just above 40.
But recently something happened, the score went down to around 30. I thought I'd filled it up with all kind of crap so I flashed it. I did the setup and ran linpack directly and found out that the score still were on 30, what's up with that?
I've even compared it to my friends desire and you notice a big difference while for example scrolling the app drawer, mine is way too sluggish :/
I'm very concerned about this since I really hate choppy phones.
Thanks

greenecomputing that make linpack, changed there score system a couple of months ago, and all devices are getting lower scores than they did...... the sluggish app draw is usually because of cpu intensive live wallpapers too

It's a stock 2.2 as the title tells. Maybe I should try a custom Rom? Do you recommend anyone? I've only rooted and custom flashed my hero before..
As it has been said linpack has been changed to calculate an average over 3 runs or something like that, which gives you a more precise result. For difference you feel, I have 2 suggestions:
1. Placebo
2. Live wallpaper might slow scrolling in the app drawer down

I ran that same combo for a while and IMO the battery did what it does best: SUUUUUUUUCK%$#^& ! .......that been said it's been like that pretty much all the time, if you really use the phone that is, not complaining at all, just saying. That's why I always carry a spare one. There are way too many variables and setup preferences that might differ from one user to the next and if you overclock the thing uses even more juice. Really love the 3.3 Rom but the lack of 3G deal in my case forced me to reflash in a different direction........Good Luck !
What do you mean by lack of 3G ?

Exactly that......no 3G, very very poor signal if any, I thought it was just me but after reviewing the ongoing 3.3 thread I found out that some people are experiencing this issue too, very small % though. In my case I was with T-Mobile for quite a while, fantastic service but poor signal-coverage at my business location so I switched to Verizon which really rocks signal-coverage-wise until now......sooooo......I really love the ROM and really hope for a feasible fix to get back to it.
it has to be a downed tower or old prl the rom/kernel dont control the phone calls so id say to check with vzw and run the appropriate updates, hope it gets fixed for ya
I'm using KK BFS #5 and the latest SkyRaider and I've got no such issues. No 3G troubles, no battery suckage, no weird stability issues...
Seems all ok for me. I'm happy with the combination. Sedio 1750 battery, BTW.
I do have SetCPU installed, interactive governor, and a profile to lower the clock speed to 612MHz when the screen is off. When awake, the phone is overclocked one notch to 1036MHz.

Not too sure where you heard this from. Could you post a link? I've used nothing but KingXKernel's on various Sense-based ROM's, and I've used SetCPU to tweak each and every one of them.

I've been running KK#5-BFS on SR 3.3, and my battery life (stock battery) has been pretty fantastic. Of course, that's completely relative, and I'm not a super heavy user, but with all other variables being constant, my battery life has definitely improved since going with this combo. You just have to be intelligent with your SetCPU settings, profiles, and phone settings.

I initially had the same 3G issues with SR 3.3, but ihtfp69 has since fixed these problems with 3.3.1, and my 3G has been flawless ever since.
I use king kernel BFS #5 with setcpu and i get some pretty amazing battery life
I am running the same combo with ROM and kernal minus the SetCpu and forget to charge my phone overnight. So for over 24hrs I was at 29% battery life. This is the best combo I've experienced so far for great battery life. Make sure you do a full system wipe, once you Flash the ROM..
does anyone find that charge times have increased after installing king's kernel 5? It may be just my imagination but I wanted to see if anyone has seen the same
has anyone else experienced this? i have this happen to me quite a few times using bullet/synergy kernal
basically what happens is that my phone will always heat up and crash then it restarts itself..even when it's idle
i've used faux clock to keep my phone from ocing but this still seems to happen..
Try Fauxs kernels.. always stable....check your OC setting and UV settings...flash it and use at it's out of the box setting

i tried undervolting it by 12mv and my phone was ok, then i went a bit lower and my phone crashed again, not quite sure if i should try another custom kernel, i feel like im on the brink of bricking my phone
Yeah..not all chips are created equal...so keep it to where it's stable and you should be good. Flash Fauxs.. leave all the settings as it came and see how it does for you

i dont think its actually a chip issue
my settings were
1.512ghz max 384mhz min
and
at screen off
540max
384 min
my phone heated up and crashed when i turned the screen offf..so it seems more like a software bug rather than hardware imo..
i think you misunderstood me lul. so here's the entire story
i flashed synergy a couple weeks back and had this issue, so i thought o well and went back to eaglesblood(which is pretty much stock everything)
then i decided to try jugs+bullet, it seemed fined until i went to sleep and wokeup with a phone that has its battery drained and is hot to the touch
now the settings were set to not overclock, so it doesnt seem like my chip is causing the issue
If your chip heats up enough to cause it to crash and reboot...that's not a good sign man..especially if you've tried different kernels and don't have crazy settings.
One more flash won't hurt right?
Maybe try a new combo... different rom and kernel?

im on faux right now
it does sound bad, but its been fine when im on eaglesblood(stock kernel)
so im a bit confused all around
thing is, im playing gta 3 right now and its barely heated up, so it confuses me why it would heat up and crash/restart when its friggen idle..

ya the faux kernel is doing really really well
on synergy/bullet i used to get under 4500 antutu score..
now im getting 6458 and im not even overclocking..
I unerstand this isn't what was asked, but I've never had heat issues, using the stock roms cleaned-up by myself after root. The new 2.3.6 is solid as well.

i want no choppiness in scrolling and great speed. with good battery life? hows bullet compared to faux?
Try them all and see what you like. Personally, I'd start off with faux123's kernel though. He ported over some of the skyrocket kernel and it's very smooth.
does faux or bullet have the ability to make the button lights up for notification?
I'm pretty sure both do. I know fauxs does. Also I tried them all faux123 is the best by far he used some of the skyrockets mdp drivers and there is no lag and scrolling is butter smooth. u need his most recent beta I'll see if I can find it bln works (lights) and battery great
Here... Wipe cache and dalvik then flash

Fauxs was incredible, incredulous actually how smooth it is. He OC'd the 2d and 3d to Max all the time so its always smooth. Battery obviously takes a hit because of this.

On faux 07bv4 and the battery drain is quite high... about 6% every half hour.
Probably will go to v5 or bullet for now... but yeah its butter
Edit. Also something weird when using fauxclock. My min and Max are set to 1.6ghz... even when I drag the min down to 384...
Anyone know why this is?

Holy crap scrolling is smooooooooth. Better than my desktop lol
what kernel works best for beastmod? ima migrate to there because the rom is faster and better on batt life. and mms is perfect on that rom
Bln doesn't seem to be working for me, i at least with handset, and it's the only app I have with an led notification option

I've not really encountered any problems with it. I have seen Dual Core clocked at 2.0Ghz.
My general question was, are we likely to oc'd tegra3's..
This is the 1st Android phone I don't feel like overclocking. I've underclocked my One X to 1.2GHz so the phone will run cooler and longer, so far have not seen any slow down.

exactly I've been thinking UC would solve heat issues, 200-300mhz will not cause a major effect
what app did you use?
But does setcpu support 4 core control? You may have underclocked 1/2 of the cores but probably not all of them
