ASK Desire Memory Problem - Desire General

Dear all,
I want to ask, why is always my memory full if i install program? any way to help on this?
i am on froyo and transferred almost all the possible apps and games to sd card. but i still want to download more. is it possible?
thanks.

why not even a single soul reply my thread? =(

I have the same problem with my Desire. I've moved some application on the SD card with app2sd. Now I have 10-15 applications in the phone memory and only 30 MB free space !!!!! .... is there another way to free some space?

I've noticed if you've installed a Rom on top of another Rom without wiping complete data it reduces your memory.

Are you using A2SD+? Or this is the internal memory?
I have problem with internal memory
What are more things are on the memory I can delete

Unless you are S-OFF, you can only delete the things you've installed by yourself or move them to the SD Card (Non_A2SD+).
What do u mean s off
I mean the apps is about 50 mb what happened with 200 mb

Probably cache & Other non-app related stuff.
Also, if you don't have A2SD+ (not App2SD), then some applications will be on Internal memory even after moved to the SD card.

I am not an android expert, but you do need app2sd or data2sd to fix this.
Any 3rd party rom with those X2sd supported can let you extend your limited phone storage. I don't know the android system file structure at all but here is the general idea.
i. App2sd
This will install the apps (most of them) on your sd card, but the data, I think, still remains on your phone internal storage. Your system should be very fast as normal even with low class sd card (most of the time I think :-0 ).
ii. Data2sd
This is a little bit tricky, it requires you to format your sd card and make use of the sd card instead of your internal phone storage for the operating system. You generally get an unlimited store, it depends on how much memory you allocated for the system, also you need a higher class sd card as better.
iii. Data2sd mixed mode
This is the best solution for me . it moves almost all to the sd card but some part of the system with more i/o on the phone internal storage (actually symlinks point back to the device on sd card). This will make the system fast (faster than pure data2sd), extended the phone storage a lot, but still limited to the phone internal storage (better than app2sd though)
Again, this is just my understanding. I haven't looked into Android in depth yet, but I will one day I have enough time
You can found the ROMs and almost everything you need from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916417
Really appreciated the people who did the job there.
I have app 2 SD
I fixed partition ex2 to move the apps but I can't see ext2 partition
Must I have app2sd+ , where can download it.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Create at least EXT3 with more than 512 MB.
You don't have the option anywhere, to move to the EXT partition, it is automatically done by the script.
To see your EXT partition you must use TI Backup (Shows only as A2SD+) or GParted.
Ok not ext2
I have tried with ex2 it doesn't work , should I have swipe ?
I will do it with Linux
Which Rom do u think is best now ?
Where can I download a2sd+ ?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
A2SD+ is not a program, it is a script. Included in the ROMs.
Look around in the Desire Android Developement Section for ROMs and pick one you like. Most of them have A2SD+.
Do some reading... rooting guides include all the information you need
I will format the SD and try to found some Rom with a2sd+
Why desire have very little memory it should be 2 or 4 gb
Thank everyone and I will be back with feedbAck

No brainer... Data2SD !

This has always been a problem with my desire until i found out about AlphaRev. Now i've got 166MB free internal space. My suggestion is to install AlphaRev and modify the partition tables as listed in the tutorial on alpharev.nl. I would have posted a link but i can't post links yet.
i downloaded RCMIxHD_v3.4_ROT_D2EXT_RC1 and made a parttion ext3 and now work perfect.
Thank u everybody

[Q] Internal memory shortage

Hello everyone.
I'm currently using CM 6 on my Desire.
On the phone I have LauncherPro and Weather & Toggle installed and nothing else (beside google apps). All my apps are on the SD card.
Problem: I have 15mb of internal memory!!!
Removing some of the pre-installed apps won't increase the space left. Whenever I install a new app on the SD card, it also uses some of the phone memory!
What should I do? Help would be appreciated

You could consider going s-off and flashing a custom partition table to gain more space for apps?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=805811
That helped. Thanks
Or you could go with starburst ROM and use date2sd I have 2gb internal space on my phone and the rom is super fast and stable

[Q] What is the correct use of A2SD+

So i managed to root my phone, flashed the latest Leedroid rom and use A2SD+ , to overcome the storage issues.
All is working fine, i can see the ext partition and that the partition is actually in use.
What i understood is that you should not move apps from phone to SD anymore, because A2SD+ is automatically installing them to the EXT partition.
However i notice some apps still take up quite a lot of phone storage.
When i move them to SD, the free space increases a lot
For instance i moved Google Earth and that got me an extra 23 mb of free phone memory. Also moving Rock Player freed up some space.
So my question is:
should i leave app on the phone at al times, as people are suggesting, or can i move apps to SD which seems to clear some phone memory?
If it frees up more space, move them to sd.. I use titanium to do that as i've heard it works better than the stock way.
Swyped from my CM7.1 Desire using XDA Premium App
Well a2sd+ moves that apk and the dalvik cache to ext. "move to sd" moves the apk and the libs to fat.
Using either solution over the other will not be as effective as using both. However bear in mind that it becomes messy when you are splitting the components of an application over 3 partitions.
My advice if you're struggling for space, do it with the odd application. Don't make a habit of it

What's the space of your internal storage? Downloading apps from market always saves the app to internal memory before moving to sd card (if the app allows) Sufficient internal storage is essential.

If I know, Desire doesn't allow to download large apps from market. You have to find APK file somewhere and than install it directly from SD card (after moving the APK file there). Don't forget to check Unknown resources in settings of applications.

Hey, Thanks for the quick response. I have my sd card partitioned and data2sd so i have 760 mb free. Ive heard that the issue is that the desire has a small cache but im a noob so i dont exactly know what that means or if there is anything i can do about it.

Ya thats what ill probably end up doing, i was just seeing if there was a way around it for convenience. Thanks for the quick reply.
There are workarounds for this. Remind me to post a script on the thread.
Swyped on my Htc Desire running on Supernova Extreme - Gingerbread goodness with 2 GB of Internal memory

Free up space on HTC Wildfire S.

so i bought the htc wildfire s from metropcs. good phone. but the internal memory sucks. i have already s-offed it and rooted it to delete the metro bloatware to try to save some battery life and space. well it still complains about low space. so my question is, since i am rooted i can delete anything i want. what am i allowed to delete that the phone does not require to have? if that means deleting everything htc off there, i'll do that. i just want space for my texts and maybe a game or two. it's getting annoying. please and thank you. ^_^
If your phone is Rooted then install "Link2SD" from Market. Then link all your downloaded apps to SD card 2nd partition (see details here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432459)
I have 79 apps (having size of 165MB) installed on my WFS and still have approx. 80MB of free space.
