Please let me know. My daughter scratched up my phone.
Some screen protector companies claim if you put on their product it will cover up minor scratches.
I bought screen guard from xoskins.com and it seemed to cover up the few minor scratches I had. Or, at least, I don't notice them anymore.

Yeah, I believe that. Most of these screen protectors look so crappy after u put them on the regular screen scratched up looks better. If any of you guys know of any good ways to actually fix the scratch and not just cover it up please advise. Thanks for your help.
hm you must not be very good at installing screen protectors OR you are buying super cheap ones. Most of the quality ones if installed correctly look almost invisible after the first day or so (some almost immediately) and will cover minor scratches making them almost to compellingly invisible.
The only other things i can think of is if you have the time and patience i have heard of people who have had success using very very fine jewelers sand paper and polish. a friend of mine also used the pens you can get for paint scratches on your car and has had success on other devices. never used either myself
I recommend "luxmo" branded screen protectors. Can't tell my evo is sporting one but I'm fully protected. Covered minor scratches and prevents future ones.

Honestly not an answer to your problem but a good lead.
You can also find a cellphone repair shop and replace the glass. You can also order the part, adhesive, and DIY.

I paid $30 to get the garbage Zagg Invisible Shield "professionally" installed at Best Buy. There are like 3 pretty noticeable dirt specs under the cover so I'm not happy with this choice (especially considering I paid $30 for this service) So aggravated...
Trust Me, They Suck At Installing Them.

Ghost armor is the best.. i swear...
idk where they sell but I had mine done at the Dadeland Mall (Miami FL).40$ full wrap... this stuff is good... i once sat on my TP2 with a lighter under it... for at least 30 mins till i noticed... The screen had the FULL lighter imprinted (like bump-mapped)... 10mins later cleared right out...
i didnt like the rubbery feel around the whole phone... but the side strips really do protect it from scuffs and stuff... the screen i ended removing and getting money back... only have it on my batt cover now... looks way stylish and the screen itself is scratch-proof (i did the razor blade test as a skeptic).
the only thing i saw scratches the screen is scissors (if you try to), and rubbing it on rough concrete (literally rubbing it)... an old Nova screen which I got insurance replaced gave me these results...so thats how i know

omg, I lol'd right in my cubicle imagining saying "kk thx buh bye" to a bestbuy employee, get that one on video!
Yep... Ghost Armor is the ONLY thing I use. Better than invisishield. Lifetime warranty. I had to get a new one once and it was free... well... i did have to cover shipping of like a buck. Watch the video several times over and read read read before doing it.
It WILL hide those scratches.
BTW... could you ask your daughter how she scratched it? I saw a video of a guy when the EVOs first came out. He tried pretty hard to scratch it without a guard and he couldn't. So I am really curious.
I did go back to Best Buy today and I got much better Mobile guy this time. He told me that a lot of the InvisiShields were damaged...he had to go through like 6 of them till he found one without a blemish. He actually did a really good job installing it...doesn't justify paying $30 for a piece of plastic but at least he did a good job. I just hope it stays on.
As for how my daughter scratched it...I saw her with my cell phone face down on my glass coffee table. Maybe there was something abrasive between the screen and the coffee table. I'm really careful with my phone for the most part so I'm pretty certain that is when it happened.

Hi,
Is the Capacitative screen of this phone is scratch resistant like iPhone? I was able to use my iPhone for 2years without getting a scratch on screen. I am awaiting my phone in mail, was thinking of buying accesories...
Thank you
I won't be getting a protector for mine. As long as you are careful, you'll be fine.

Very true. And that whole scratch protector is kinda a lie. You can see pics/vids where the iPhone screen is pretty scratched.
No offense to anyone posting on this topic but I do not understand the purchase of accessories from AT&T or any other provider store. Items for these phones can be purchased significantly cheaper from online.
I bought a box of cut-to-size screen protectors for $5 from amazon and it has lasted our family through several phones and replacements. Touch screen function is not hindered and clarity is perfectly fine.
Though I use screen protectors, I do not believe in phone cases. I feel a phone is built to fit the users hand and cases add unwanted bulk that I don't like. Accidents do happen but in most situations you will cause no more than cosmetic damage. Use some sense when handling your phone and it should last until your next.
I remember recently having a "discussion" with my wife as to why she paid more to get a white iphone and then put a case on it. This baffled me to the point of agitation and I had to drop the conversation.
If really concerned, just get insurance through your provider or home insurance company. At least until the phone price drops after the next big release.
Thanks
Thanks for the replies, will be getting a case any way, still thinking of screen protector...

QFT on all that. I bought like 6 from Ebay China for like $1 and they work better than Apple's $10 ones.

That's a calculated risk.
Is spending $5/mo with a $50 deductible worth it versus spending $30 for a case???
You obviously have not used any good cases. Not all cases are like Otterbox and add half a pound to the weight and an inch to the thickness... SwitchEasy was my favorite when I had my iPhone. Waiting for something similar on the Captivate now.
I'm debating this as well.
I got the body glove case from att and a pack of screen protectors. The att rep put it on for me bubble free. I keep the case on when i am out and take it off at my desk at work. The phone is beautiful. The screen protector is more finger friendly and shows no smudges.
Definitely get a screen protector. Accidents happen, no matter how careful you are. And I would suggest a body glove of some type, again, accidents happen.
What brand of screen protector do you guys recommend?

aaaaaaaaahhhhhaha white iphone with a case. i lol'd. women eh?
with ur statement on bulk, get one with a minimalistic design. a case not only protect ur phone but look sexy too. if you scratch a case you can replace it hangin on to that sex appeal. scratch a phone and ur sol. Also good condition is important for resale
oh but if ur really against cases just get one like leather case that you only keep it in while ur not using it
Case:
I understand both sides. I guess "accidentally" putting my phones through more punishment than I thought they would endure has given me excess confidence in their physical design. I am a fan of the "phone pocket" now in most jeans and cargo pants. It is comfortable and easy to grab (also stays low to the ground). I would like to take some advice and get a nice case but I guess my wife's iPhone cases have already left me disapproving and I hate to add bulk, but maybe I'll try again. I'll admit the Captivate is a bit "smooth."
Screen Protector:
There is not to much to argue about here. I wouldn't worry about brand.
1. Does it stick to the screen?
2. Is it clear?
3. Does it fit?
If you answer YES to all three of these then it is a good screen protector.
If you answer NO to any one of these questions, KEEP SHOPPING.
I'll take a look later to see what brand the box is I have at home so I can post it.
Slim but durable cases are possible. Just very few companies put forth the effort to engineer one.
Switch Easy, they only make for iProducts but when I had my 3GS it was great. A thin rubber around the outside (protect it from shocks and also keeps the case itself from scratching it), then you snap a horizontal then a vertical case that form into one hard case... It was very thin (nothing like the bulk of an Otterbox), yet I think you could have thrown it across the room and the phone been fine.
I recommend the invisibleShield by Zagg. Had one on my iphone and totaled out a work van by flipping it with the phone sitting on the dash. Was one single mark on the iphone screen and it came off when I put a new Shield on it. I was impressed. It feels a bit rubbery for a screen protector at first but never noticed any impedance with touch sensitivity. Costs a bit more then normal protectors as well but again well worth it if you ask me.
Just got home and looked at the protectors I have. The brand is WRITERIGHT (universal screen protectors)
A set of 10 was dirt cheap ($3) and I have been using them for about 2 years. They are cut-to-fit and will cover the entire face of the captivate.

hello all. first post on here. just got my captivate last saturday and still waiting for martin fields to make a screen protector for this phone. they are a lil pricey, but totally worth it.
Well when I picked up my Captivate, I picked up the Body Glove Silicone Case from ATT because I prefer to keep any new devices in a silicone/gel style case for some protection. My sister and mom picked up the Captivate after they played with mine on Sunday *7-19-2010* and called me last night to set up my mom's phone and install a screen protector *3x for $ 9.99 at the corporate att store in my area*, for installing the sp and transfering the contacts *manually* and setting up gmail, I got a SP for free for my captivate for 15 minuets worth of work. Not too bad and I am a little more less worried then the last 2 days..

Wow, 16 replies and not one answer to the original question about the Glass.
Many devices like Microsoft Zunes have a special hardened Glass, you can use keys, knives, razor blades etc to it and not scratch them. If a screen protector makes you warm and fuzzy go for it, but if this device (I don't yet know what Glass it has) has "that" Glass then its a waste of money. It's going to take a hell of a hit to break it, and a sceen protector wont prevent that.
You can read about such glass here:
http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives/2009/04/glass-screen-durability-test-a-lesson-on-the-mohs-hardness-scale.php
I ran a screen protector on my HTC Hermes for years, and hated it. Finally removed it last year and love it. And no scratches. (Case has flip cover for when its in your pocket) A lot more depends on how you treat it. I have 4 sons, 2 of them seem to destroy electronics, 2 of them don't.

Perhaps because nobody knows? And also nobody is going to scratch their expensive device just to find out.

Your cheapest (and most ethical) solution is to take it a Sprint Service center and have it repaired. From what I've heard, it will run around $100 - $150 to fix-- just a little more expensive than the $100 deductibe you'd have to pay even if you had a rightful insurance claim, and yet much less buying a new one.
Wouldn't lost or stolen be the same deductable as a drop?
I suppose I should figure out what's covered for my seven bucks a month.
Just pay your insurance... That's what you got it for anyways. I'm sure they aren't going to fix it if you find/manufacture a problem. They'll only fix the issue and say the screen was your fault.
Ok...thank y'all....I was thinking on it during the day and came up on the same result...I'm going to go ahead and have them fix it.
Thank you again!

Isn't there a case that the first cover is like a jell cover. The second one is a hard case that goes over the first cover. Then that can slide securely into a holster. The maker began with an s. Seido? Lots of people considered that THE best case out there. Combine that with one of the best screen film protector (forgot that name too) and you should be good to go.
Watch them butter fingers!
My suggestion, have someone install the screen film that's really good at it. It's not the easiest thing to do and get all the bubbles out perfectly.

A screen protector prevents scratches, but it can't absorb an impact. If he were to imitate the same drop that cracked his screen before, it will be cracked again with the protector on it.
The jelly/hard case combo will absorb some of the force of the drop and could perhaps prevent a crack though.
In my opinion, you can get a case if you want, but just be more careful with the phone and call it a day. The glass on the phone is fairly scratch resistant and you should be all right.

But yes... try not to use it like a hockey puck.
The sedio rugged case is the innocase 2 then covered by silicone then wrapped in the exoskeloton. Adds a little extra bulk but hardly noticable over the active case it comes with a holster and a screen cover (which I've replaced with the zagg cover has better protection but not as nice of a feel). The phone seems pretty much indestructable to me, I've dropped it off of a roof onto a driveway and didn't damage it at all. Check it out if your the extremely clumsy type.
Thanks....but I failed to mention that I ordered that free protector stealth the night before that's why I beside myself that day...and of course having my hands full while trying to put it into the leather case (not a good look with butter fingers). I must admit watching my evo land face first twice in slowmo hurts more that getting this blasted froyo 2.2 ota update just to see what it was all about....now that was a bad week.....lol

So I just went out and decided to buy this "case" called Ghost Armor. I was told it was similar to Zagg InvisiShield but better, so I went out on a leg and forked up the $40.00 for the Ghost Armor with the matte finish which I was told would make it 100% anti-glare and anti-fingerprint and that it would come with a lifetime warranty. This is week 2 that I have purchased this and I have to say...this is the BEST product I have ever purchased! I wish I knew about this stuff when I first got my iPod Touch before it got all messed up. I have dropped this thing countless times and nothing. It looks pretty amazing, anyone else have this done?
how's the back piece? Can you take pics of the back side? I got my screen ghost armored and am currently using a griffin case because i'm paranoid about the sides of my phone being scratched. I know ghost armor will cover the battery cover but does it cover the sides too?

+1. Same goes for paying $70 for extended batteries. Ouch.
thats unfortunate cause I got mine done for $25 .. and it comes with a life time replacement warranty as long as I bring a little piece of the plastic film.. Ive used it on my last 4 Evo's .. only a 5 dollar replacement fee and thats just for having them put it on.. I think it's a great deal considering this plastic doesn't scratch and can be cleaned very easily
Any chance of some pictures?
can you say first time poster first time Ghost rep lol trying to sell product, anyway, i saw the product in the mall and got it for free. the guy was amazed, i told him i was a zagg fan and he goes ohhhhh look at this guys. I accepted and tore that baby after about 30 seconds of pulling. He was amazed and speechless. He said he had never see anyone due that before, i laughed at him and said, not that your product is bad just because i could pull it apart but don't use that as a selling point. So you see im not a fanboy of zagg either even though i love their products, Zagg shouldn't use a drill on the evo in a video as a selling point either lol.

I have used ghost armor on both my iphones as well as on my new evo, It's ok i guess, but after about 3 months the plastic started peeling off both the front as well as around the sides. It did this on ALL my phones i have gotten ghostarmored BTW.
if i were to do it again i would just to the front screen and get a case, honestly it's not worth the amount they charge
A couple of my buddies own a couple ghost armor franchise kiosks and I have used it on multiple phones (never paid for it though). I have been very happy with it but can't bring myself to believe that it can take the place of a true case.
I asked in another thread about invisibleSHEILD but Im seeing after different opinions, that there are various others offering the same protection at different prices.
Im going to be using a HTC Desire Z. Its "environment" will most likely be sliding in and out of my pocket and inside of my hoodies' pockets so yes, there will be lint around it. I dont want to use a case as it looks horrible and adds too much thickness to be in my pocket in a comfortable way. The "orange peel effect" is something I believe Im not going to mind. Im going for full body protection so keep that in mind as Ive read some full body protections cover more or less...
Ive pretty much slimmed it down to 5 but I might have missed some so vote Other, say which, and Ill add it to the poll
So which do you think is the best protection for me?
Also, thanks to everyone who is helping out. I truely appreciate it
Can't change the poll? Wanted to add Skinomi.
I am wondering the same thing. I have a Vibrant and want to figure out what a good protective sheild would be. This case is nice but I'd love to carry it without one and not have to worry too much.

Went ahead with the invisibleSHIELD. There was a 50% discount and you just have to take advantage on that
Thanks to all once more for the advice
Now finally, onto the HTC Desire Z (Ill come back problably asking for help on ROM flashing too )
Just recieved and installed the invisibleSHIELD. ZAGG just recieved this email from me:
Totally unacceptable: Last time I’m buying from ZAGG
My purchase for a invisibleSHIELD from you has been horrible since the beginning. First time around, the order button was broken on your webpage and I have to contact you to fix it. I ordered my invisibleSHIELD on 5/5/2011 and it shipped the next day. I sent you guys a email about my order and I’m STILL waiting for a reply. It arrived 5/18/2011; I’ve been shipped things quicker from the United States and Asia but fine. I receive the package (from Germany, why???) and first thing is that the box is semi crushed and not what I would expect from a company. Next thing, the solution bottle you guys send is unscrewed and naturally the solution spilled. I was stuck without a solution and I had to make do (because I’m not reordering paying a dime for you and waiting another 13 days) with soap and water. Next I find that some of the parts are actually already unstuck to the paper so I had to even put MORE effort in installing. I installed the shield today (again after the experience not worth it even if it protects from everything as there are companies that do the same thing).
Basically, no customer care, horrible package protection, and a product that simply is not worth it. Thankfully, I got a discount you were offering and paid half because this product is worth just that and even less.
I’m not recommending this to anyone; I prefer they try other products such as Best Skins Only which actually gives a decent price for the products.
Yea i also want to know which best screen protector i have to use ?
invisibleshield hands down.
From now on, BestSkinsEver; period. They are the only protectors I will use. Cheap, fast shipping, and great protection.
Zaggs are the best u ever feel on those?

I got an invisibleshield installed in a local store so luckily, I did not have any problem with it. I just did not experience installing it first hand which looks kind of exciting though the pressure.
I have some problems with it though. The small parts that cover the round edges seem to be peeling away and accumulating some dust or cotton, as I reckon from my pocket which annoys me. They said that I could get a new one but I have to ship the whole thing, so does that men I am going to be left with no protector until it gets shipped to my address? Not really an option if you ask me.

Agree, I've bought a a screen protector once which was full of scratches within a month or so.
I use a screen protector from xoskins on a lot of my stuff. They are uv coated so they don't turn yellow, resist finger prints, and do not feel like a rubbery orange peel.
Sorry you've had such a bad experience with Zagg. I've never had an issue with them myself. The screen protectors have worked very well for me and I've put them on something like eight devices. I'd still recommend them to anyone.
Best buy screen protectors
I hate paying the price at Best Buy, but their sales rep(s) are really good at applying the protector.

I would stay away from invisibleSHIELD unless you have the patience to install it or pay someone else to install it. My bro used it on his Evo 4G and for the price it was not all that good. I have been using ReaLook for my Epic 4G and it is very good and offers great protection
I use invisibleSHIELD protects good and installation was simple.Like other poster said it's peeling on corners and edges but I change my case a lot so that contributes.

Personally, I rather pay $2.50 for full body protector than $20-30 for Zaggs. For ~$2 I can several in case I mess up.
I just installed my xtreme guard today. I've had it on every phone and tablet I have ever owned.
I order from eBay as they have eBay account and it's dirt cheap.
One time they messed up my order and they shipped a new one free of charge.
All you have to do is send them an email and they will send right out and you won't have to pay a single penny.
Paid like $3-$5 for full front and back extreme guard and will buy again for sure.
It's very thick and gives the feel of real protection, hard to mess up because you put it on like window tint and best of all it's cheap and their customer support is awesome!
Highly recommend! I can post pics of my pro and wife's iPhone if needed. Also put it on son's iPad after he broke the screen and it's been holding up for almost a year now: )

I bought the extreme guard screen protector for my Nexus 4 on a forum recommendation. NEVER AGAIN!! The screen protector sucks. First tried dry application, bubbles everywhere. removed it and washed it with soap solution. BTW does not include the soap solution. had to make my own with Dawn. Not thrilled about getting the screen wet and solution into the speakers and seams. After curing for 3 days I started using the phone. A week of putting it in my pocket and removing it, the tip of the corner came off. Slowly started to rip the whole corner. I installed another with the same 3 day curing. First try on putting the phone in a bumper case and it ripped the screen protector off the screen. The surface is not smooth and sticky to the skin. I had to use NuTouchHD to make it slippery. Also since it has soap solution underneath the screen protector, freaking rainbow streak everywhere. I urge you not to buy this product no matter how much the discount is.
For easy, dry and bubble free application, I tried Illumishield. It's thicker than Extreme Guard, washable and reusable. No rainbow effect. Use scotch tape to remove lint under the screen if there's lint bubble. I would recommend the illumishield screen protector over extreme guard any day.
I just picked up the 3 pack casemate that ATT sells for 10 bucks. I just used a couple sprays from my left over zagg solution to make it easier to install. Hard to scratch and doesnt peel up like the softer types of screen protector, im satisfied with it. Also, its very clear and doesnt stick to smudges at all (couple wipes from a lense cloth cleans it up).:good:

Word of caution regarding Zaggs screen protector for OGP... It sucks!! I've used the invisible shield before on other devices and I've never had a problem, but I have two major problems with the OGP model, one of which renders the film useless...
1. For some reason, they decided that protecting the home button wasn't important... so instead of them giving you a button film, they just cut around it and below it... so one of the most used things on the phone is not protected...
2. Probably the most important fail of this film is that it's not cut to extend all the way to the edges... it stops short about 3mm all around from the edge... doesn't sound like a big deal right? and I didn't think much of it... until I put my two awesome cases on the phone... what happens? The bezel from the cases sits perfectly over the end of the film so that every time I grip the phone or push one of the side buttons, the film peels up and bubbles... I have to flatten it out over and over again and there's no way to adjust it... this equally sucks because dirt and debris will find it's way under the film and probably cause more damage than if it wasn't there to begin with... Sooooo.... BEWARE!! I'm gonna try the other film mentioned above... Thanks MrNa5ty.:good:
Btw, if you're looking for a good case for your OGP I recommend two that I came across that are relatively cheap and extremely well made (sorry, I can't post the links due to my noob status):
1. "For LG Optimus G Pro E980 T-Stand Impact Kickstand Hybrid Double Layer Fusion Cover Case" - my fav so far, it's solid... it almost feels like an otter box because it has bubber and hard plastic... plus a well made kickstand which comes in handy... and the price? wait for it... wait for it.... 77 cents!!!!!!!! on amazon... a ridiculous steal if you ask me.
2. "GreatShield Guardian S Series Slim Fit S-Line Design TPU Case for LG Optimus G Pro" - Only $7!! on amazon and it's an awesome case and it looks good too.
New code for their site 70OFF
Got mine for $3 shipped!
Just received the first case you recommended. This is a nice case, indeed. Thanks for sharing.
