Most of this forum frown on insurance fraud...so, just a heads up, you probably will not get any answers, justs a nice flaming...
Enjoy? And get accidental insurance next time?

Your cheapest (and most ethical) solution is to take it a Sprint Service center and have it repaired. From what I've heard, it will run around $100 - $150 to fix-- just a little more expensive than the $100 deductibe you'd have to pay even if you had a rightful insurance claim, and yet much less buying a new one.
Wouldn't lost or stolen be the same deductable as a drop?
I suppose I should figure out what's covered for my seven bucks a month.
Just pay your insurance... That's what you got it for anyways. I'm sure they aren't going to fix it if you find/manufacture a problem. They'll only fix the issue and say the screen was your fault.
Ok...thank y'all....I was thinking on it during the day and came up on the same result...I'm going to go ahead and have them fix it.
Thank you again!

Isn't there a case that the first cover is like a jell cover. The second one is a hard case that goes over the first cover. Then that can slide securely into a holster. The maker began with an s. Seido? Lots of people considered that THE best case out there. Combine that with one of the best screen film protector (forgot that name too) and you should be good to go.

My suggestion, have someone install the screen film that's really good at it. It's not the easiest thing to do and get all the bubbles out perfectly.

A screen protector prevents scratches, but it can't absorb an impact. If he were to imitate the same drop that cracked his screen before, it will be cracked again with the protector on it.
The jelly/hard case combo will absorb some of the force of the drop and could perhaps prevent a crack though.
In my opinion, you can get a case if you want, but just be more careful with the phone and call it a day. The glass on the phone is fairly scratch resistant and you should be all right.

But yes... try not to use it like a hockey puck.
The sedio rugged case is the innocase 2 then covered by silicone then wrapped in the exoskeloton. Adds a little extra bulk but hardly noticable over the active case it comes with a holster and a screen cover (which I've replaced with the zagg cover has better protection but not as nice of a feel). The phone seems pretty much indestructable to me, I've dropped it off of a roof onto a driveway and didn't damage it at all. Check it out if your the extremely clumsy type.
Thanks....but I failed to mention that I ordered that free protector stealth the night before that's why I beside myself that day...and of course having my hands full while trying to put it into the leather case (not a good look with butter fingers). I must admit watching my evo land face first twice in slowmo hurts more that getting this blasted froyo 2.2 ota update just to see what it was all about....now that was a bad week.....lol

I haven't seen any scratching with mine, and have been using since June. The cover fits very tight, maybe you got a bad one or I am just lucky so far.
I picked up a case at Best Buy that reminds me of the old Body Glove case I had for my G1. It's lightweight snaps tight and has kind of a golf glove texture. Love it so far.
I've had mine since June as well and the rubber on the back is peeling away. I would go with a Seido case if I had it to do again. Just my 2 cents.
I'm on my second body glove case and about to return it for my third. It's just cheap, hard plastic with a vinyl sticker on the back, certainly not worth the money. The first one I had lasted a month or so but the second one I got, broke the second time I tried to take it off. The only good thing about it is the fact that Sprint gives you a 1yr warranty on it.

Is that power button easy to access?
The case is junk. Almost anything else is better. It pops open on the slightest drop and the phone goes flying. I switched to an otterbox and would never go back.

You must just be lucky. Had mine since June, sides are all scratched. Also, the third time it fell all four clips that hold the corners together broke. Oh, and the back has peeled off from the case itself. Not for the active user.

i completely agree, it is because of the plastic strip above the volume rocker that i did not like the case, one it's second drop on the ground the case snapped off and broke. I was disapointed with the craftmanship of the case, especially seeing as how it came from body glove. now i use seidio and i haven;t had any problems with the case so far.
Please let me know. My daughter scratched up my phone.
Some screen protector companies claim if you put on their product it will cover up minor scratches.
I bought screen guard from xoskins.com and it seemed to cover up the few minor scratches I had. Or, at least, I don't notice them anymore.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Yeah, I believe that. Most of these screen protectors look so crappy after u put them on the regular screen scratched up looks better. If any of you guys know of any good ways to actually fix the scratch and not just cover it up please advise. Thanks for your help.
hm you must not be very good at installing screen protectors OR you are buying super cheap ones. Most of the quality ones if installed correctly look almost invisible after the first day or so (some almost immediately) and will cover minor scratches making them almost to compellingly invisible.
The only other things i can think of is if you have the time and patience i have heard of people who have had success using very very fine jewelers sand paper and polish. a friend of mine also used the pens you can get for paint scratches on your car and has had success on other devices. never used either myself
I recommend "luxmo" branded screen protectors. Can't tell my evo is sporting one but I'm fully protected. Covered minor scratches and prevents future ones.

Ghost armor is the best.. i swear...
idk where they sell but I had mine done at the Dadeland Mall (Miami FL).40$ full wrap... this stuff is good... i once sat on my TP2 with a lighter under it... for at least 30 mins till i noticed... The screen had the FULL lighter imprinted (like bump-mapped)... 10mins later cleared right out...
i didnt like the rubbery feel around the whole phone... but the side strips really do protect it from scuffs and stuff... the screen i ended removing and getting money back... only have it on my batt cover now... looks way stylish and the screen itself is scratch-proof (i did the razor blade test as a skeptic).
the only thing i saw scratches the screen is scissors (if you try to), and rubbing it on rough concrete (literally rubbing it)... an old Nova screen which I got insurance replaced gave me these results...so thats how i know

Yep... Ghost Armor is the ONLY thing I use. Better than invisishield. Lifetime warranty. I had to get a new one once and it was free... well... i did have to cover shipping of like a buck. Watch the video several times over and read read read before doing it.
It WILL hide those scratches.
BTW... could you ask your daughter how she scratched it? I saw a video of a guy when the EVOs first came out. He tried pretty hard to scratch it without a guard and he couldn't. So I am really curious.
I did go back to Best Buy today and I got much better Mobile guy this time. He told me that a lot of the InvisiShields were damaged...he had to go through like 6 of them till he found one without a blemish. He actually did a really good job installing it...doesn't justify paying $30 for a piece of plastic but at least he did a good job. I just hope it stays on.
As for how my daughter scratched it...I saw her with my cell phone face down on my glass coffee table. Maybe there was something abrasive between the screen and the coffee table. I'm really careful with my phone for the most part so I'm pretty certain that is when it happened.

try Wrapsol, I have used it on my Hero and my EVO. wrapsol.com.
Google "wrapsol coupon code" and you can get some money off too.
If you don't mind the cost, I love my Steinheil Incredible Shield. Best accessory I've bought so far. The body protection film feels just the slightest bit grippy to me which keeps the oil off you hands from making the phone slippery, and the screen protector is crystal clear and smooth as glass, and doesn't affect the touch screen sensitivity. The Incredible Shield comes with both the body and screen films. I don't have enough posts to post the link, but I'll PM it to you
First post here, been lurking for awhile. I personally like the skins offered by Best Skins Ever. They are $7.99, fit perfectly, no "orange peeling", and offers protection for the front screen, battery cover, kickstand, camera lens, and all four sides of the phone. I've used the InvisibleShield before and I feel that it is too thick, too much drag on the screen. The BSE provides better protection without the drag.
Invisishield is pretty sweet too....you can get it for just the screen or the entire phone...I had it on my hero so I had to have it on my evo too....

Do not buy Phantomskinz for Evo. They sent me two of them. I installed and left on for 24 hours. My first impressions was "Wow!". Not much orange peel and feels nice. I have it on wife's iphone and sony camera, but they dont go through the same abuse as my Evo. I usually keep my EVO and carkeys in the same pocket. A few days later there is wrinkles all over my skin and it doesnt heal itself. Thought maybe defective, so i applied the second skin. A few days later same issue. Contacted their customer service and here is their response:
"Issue is the glass screen of the Evo. We call it a hardened glass screen. Unfortunately it reacts differently to the skin then normal devices would and the skin does not heal as it would on other devices. However, we never recommend keeping your phone in the same pocket as your keys. Our skinz are made to self heal small scratches and dents but this is pushing it a little far. I would recommend installing the second Evo Screen that was included in your kit if it is still available. I would also recommend separating your keys and cell phone."
I bought the skin so i can protect my phone from the car keys and she's telling me to keep them separate. Also, i moved from regular plastic screen protector and never had this issue. When i told them i used up both screens included, they asked to go through normal warranty and pay $3 for a replacement skin. Pay more money for skin they admit does not work on my Evo. No thank you. I have ordered from BestSkinEver and will review once i apply it.
I've attached some photos and video that I sent to their customer service.
Just wanted you guys to know that my local Sprint store repair center guy told me last week that if I put an invisibleshield on my phone, it'll void the warranty because it requires water to put it on.
I've got the invisibleshield on my iPad and love it...can anyone confirm this from their local Sprint repair center?
I use stealthguards and for the most part they're great. I have never used any solution like those before on my previous phones so I don't know how it compares to all the other "self healing clear skins" but for the stealthguards, u do notice its not as clear as normal screen protectors especially when the screen is off but the I personally love the feel of it and it works great. I've noticed that at the malls they have kiosks that sell "Ghost Armor" clear protectors and they apply it on the spot for you so you can also try those...
Go with best skins ever. BSE FTW!
I bought this case with my phone the day it came out because I wanted protection immediately. It was the only case available so I got it. I've taken care of my phone diligently and the only scratches it has are from the stupid sprint carbon fiber case. Is there any way to get any compensation from sprint for buying this stupid case or am I just stupid or both?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
which carbon case do you have? I have the black carbon one with the kickstand and no scratches. Also there is no way that sprint will compensate you.
I have the one that schnergun has as well and I got it the day my phone came as well. So far the only scratch I have on the phone is from a drop (before I put the case on it) other then that it's been very nice.
And as above I really doubt Sprint is going to do anything about it. It's wear and tear as they will see it.

TPU Scratches
I just got the carbon fiber/kickstand case yesterday. But my TPU case I've used for the last two months has scratched the crap out of my GS2 edges. I miss the chrome edge and rubbery back of my OG Epic. Wish they would've used that on this phone.

Of course I'm taking it off from time to time. I do it to clean the damn phone. I know the scratches are from the case because there are 5 perfectly straight lines across the side of the phone. I'm pretty sure it happens when removing the case. I am now using the phone with no case because at least if I take care of the phone it won't get scratches. Maybe the cases aren't all built the same and i got a badly made one.
I also don't think my phone should get scratches for taking a case off too much. It's a damn case. It's supposed to protect the phone not scratch it if I decide to remove it as many times as I want.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
I've had this case since I bought my phone, and I remove it multiple times a day (I have the desktop charger at work), there isn't a single scratch anywhere on my phone and the case is a nice, snug fit. Maybe you just got a bad case.
That's what I'm thinking.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
At best, the store will exchange it for another of the same case, maybe they'll look at letting you switch it for a different case of equal value or have you pay the difference for a higher value case. You can always just ask the store.
As far as compensation, you probably won't find anyone that can see the scratches as anything to compensate for. (What compensation do you expect? Are you looking for a bill credit or a new phone?) It's wear and tear, and unless it affects the functionality of the phone, they're not going to do anything about it.
I just use a skin on mine, since I use the car and desk docks, but I also don't drop my phone. Ever. So I don't worry about needing some kind of case for it.

Have you tried this one? http://www.tridenteer.com/products/Aegis-Case-for-Samsung-Epic-Touch-4G-(Black).html
I'm still on my TPU, and the comment about the TPU scratching the phone is kinda scary. None on mine yet, but I'll keep an eye out. The TPU is a great case, I'd just like I need a little more protection. I drop phones a little more often than some of you guys do. Put an Aegis on the Evo 3D, and was very impressed. Not missing Otter at all,... Otter who? Still, I'd like to hear what other GS2 users of the Aegis are feeling about the case. Just can't seem to find any GS2/Aegis users right now.
Hey guys
Switched from an Evo 3D and an Evo 4g to Epic Touch and I have been using cheap hard cases on all my phones including my new Epic Touch baby and never have any problems with them. My phones always look band new and no scratches. I only pay $6 at my local swap meet
I have had the case and phone since new with wrist strap. I also have a really annoying nic on the upper left where the case grabs onto the phone....sucks as it stands out cause it makes the phone have chrome nic....it would be nice if sprint would cover/credit the case cost back as it damaged the phone. Instead of doing this, I went got invisible shield and ballistic case. I couldn't be happy.
I'm just taking it as a loss....
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I initially got the case cause I really needed protection asap, (somewhat of an idiot occasionally). BAD IDEA.
The Pro(s): light weight, thin, kickstand
The Con(s): lightweight, flimsy, cheaply made, really expensive, minimal protection.
I have sense upgraded to the trident aegis and couldn't be more happy with it. I feel like it really almost wouldn't matter what I do to it, my phone will still be okay. Build quality and materials used on it are VERY pleasing. Significantly more protective, not just for drops, but dust and dirt as well. It has mesh over the microphone and speakerphone holes so dust doesn't get in and has silicon flaps to protect the audio out and micro usb port. Buttons are very easy to use as well (no fumbling with the slick samsung volume and power buttons).
Hope that helps. Link to aegis case is in a comment above mine.

If it makes anyone feel better, I smash my Epic Touch hard against a table repeatedly as a sales tactic, after asking if the customer would dare do that to their iPhone.
I do not have a case on my ET (just a screen protector). No problems or dings on the corners yet from doing so, so hopefully that gives everyone some cause to worry less. This said, I do this because if I really messed up my phone, I could just get a replacement, so I really wouldn't advise phone smashing on a regular basis...
And with some/all due respect to the OP and some others, I would take delight in laughing at you, along with every other employee. Would you demand a new laptop from Dell because it got a scratch on it from the Dell case you purchased with your computer? If you did, do you think they would ship one right out to you?
Honestly, I could see your complaint if the case somehow scratched the screen of the device, but the sides or back? How does this affect the functionality of your device? Do you not pull as many chicks by showing them your shiny, pretty phone?
Last month I dropped my phone on bricks which cracked the screen badly. I got the screen repaired by Samsung but the sides bordering the bezel still have some scuffs. I put on a case to cover up the scuffs (and protect the phone too) but I really hate it. My phone is bulkier, I have to take off the case to get access to the battery and the case collects a ton of dust. How do you all survive with a case on your phone?

You have to shop around to get the right one. I bought the kickstand version offered by Sprint, it adds very little bulk, offers full access to all ports/buttons, slides easily in and out of pockets (isn't gel) and it has a kickstand (did I mention that already?).
Now, if I drop my phone on pavement from a high enough distance it's probably not going to offer me the same protection those huge, bulky otter box cases offer but I'm willing to take my chance.
easy i like to keep my phone in good shape. sure its slim profile is nice but is it nice all scratched to hell? lol i had/have a ballistics case which makes it really bulky, i got use to it and could slip it in/out of my pocket. Now i have the tpu extended battery case and its fine also.
I use silicon cases. They don't add very much size at all.
I just use the cheapo gel case i mean it slips off when I need to, stays on the rest of the time. It absorbs the impact in ways hard cases can't. But yeah the trade off on those is its about twice as thick as the thinnest hard case which really only helps with scratches.

I agree with this. I have a silicon Tough Case (TC). Bought it from amazon for like $10. It is light and very thin. With the thin profile of my phone, with the case on ts still thinner than most other smartphones without a case. But i here were your coming from it is way better bare back.
Ive had mine since release day. Never once put a case on it. Dropped it pretty good at least 10 times and still no screen cracks or major dents. I will say that "Cheap plastic" helped it a ton. Try that with your glass iphone or metal framed phone, I bet you will get screen cracks and paint chips and large dents. I hate cases. Also I advise anybody and everybody to get their phone from Besy Buy Mobile. Their insurance is deducible free and virtually unlimited (every two weeks you can smash your phone to smithereens if you want) Cant go wrong. Never need to worry about a case or screen protectors.
Honestly the first time you drop it good with a case you just made your money back, so that helps me. Not to mention the Trident Aegis case = a hair thinner than the og evo. Sure, it isn't all sexy and skinny, but it'll still be beautiful years from now
I actually prefer my epic 4g touch with my tpu case over it being naked. But the the case has a very small form factor. On my OG epic I didn't like a case though.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
I use this thing. It takes an extra second to put it back in but I know it's secure.
I'm in construction (electrician) so I need something that won't slip from my hands while perched atop a ladder and won't get scuffed when clipped to my tool belt. I will gladly clean the case on a regular basis rather than lament a dirty, scuffed, and hard to replace rear panel. (Hard in terms of getting a new one.)
If I didn't need it for work, I would probably get one, albeit a thinner, more subtle one.
I look at it as a give and take. Sure I give up a little in terms of looks, but when it comes time to upgrade to another phone I am always able to get top dollar for my old phone.
Give the Sedio Active case a try. It is reasonably thin and you do not lose sensitivity on the volume and power buttons.

Got the phone and was given a zagg screen for Christmas and when I dropped it in March and it broke the glass I was glad I had the screen because it kept it in tact until I got the replacement for the $100 insurance so now I have extendable battery in order totally use the phone as intended but no extra case fits.
I like the extra weight and size the ext battery adds feels better in hand but totally believe in zagg screen for occasional dropping if there was an otter box for safety that would support ext batt I would totally get it since I've dropped the .01 and had to pay $100 for new.
I will say this about the screen, since it was already broken I tried scratching it with everything from a screwdriver to a chisel point file and it would not scratch makes me wonder why it is so fragile it breaks when dropped. Only reason I would use the zagg screen is to keep the broken glass in place otherwise I wouldn't have a screen cover.
I have a baby and he grabs my phone, bangs it on things, and knocks it off tables. My case and screen protector are a necessity.

Matte TPU case adds virtually no bulk to the phone at all. It's really a perfect fit and looks great. Twice over the last 2 days I asked friends if they liked my case and they replied, "what case?". That says it all.
I got a cheap ass case from eBay, solely for the purpose of making my phone weigh something. It adds almost nothing, maybe a 1/8 inch. But, I must say I like it a lot. My kids dropped my phone twice, and not a single scratch. The case held like a champ. Well worth the $6 I paid for it.
