Some Carrier specific roms and some OTA froyo updates didn't update the bootloader.
If I were you I would just leave it as is. Currently there is no Root for Hboot .092 and you have to roll back to root device.
Orange haven't released their 2.2 update - you need to update with your gold card in the phone for ALL updates from now on...
Put your gold card in the phone, use this thread to roll back to stock 2.1, and then do the OTA update
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
As you say you are rooted and updated using .zip files, you probarbly used one of the rooted zips from this forum or a similar place? If that is the case, the hboot update is almost always removed, because the new versions was not rootable in the beginning. So:
1. your hboot is not updated because developers remove hboot updates from all custom zips to protect your root.
2. Why would you? I dont see any positive things about the update, if you are rooted as you say. Many are even trying to revert in order to gain root.
(2.) If you want the new hboot version, you can just run one of the official froyo ruu, though i dont know, if the included radio is compatible with orange, and you will lose root ofc.

Ive checked some forums and this is the part that confuses me;
I dont have a goldcard but I want to install the official Tmobile RUU for my Tmobile Branded desire, apparently you only need a goldcard for installing other RUUs other than the original, is this true? Will I need a goldcard to install the original Tmobile RUU?
You won't, but you can't install it if you have an SLCD screen.

Thanks mate, I have AMOLED, will run RUU without goldcard, cheers
If you've upgraded to a higher version you'll need to downgrade first mind you (link in signature).

Do you mean downgrading after officially updating to Froyo 2.2 via network OTA? I havent upgraded to 2.2 officially just running custom 2.2 from rooted 2.1 so I assume I can just run the RUU?
I meant if you've upgraded to anything higher (even a 2.1 release). If you've never run an RUU or applied an OTA upgrade you'll be fine.
find below guide for creating goldcard with another htc phone

Hello i have bought new htc desire.. Didnt know that i cant update software.. now my phone is:
Android version 2.2
Baseband version 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
Kernel version 2.6.32.15
Builld number 2.10.405.2
Software number 2.10.405.2
HBOOT 0.93.0001
Radio 5.09.05.30_2
Can you tell me please, can i have root permisions? was trying to do with teppic74 manual(forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256) but nothing happends..
That guide works fine IF you have an AMOLED screen...if not, which is likely, you'll need to wait for the final release of unrEVOked to be able to root...a quick search (as per forum rules) would've informed you of this
Why do you need to root anyway?
It works on any screen...

Was sure it did but read someone else saying it didn't on Android forums so thought I'd put it on. Seems OP isn't doing it right then
"nothing happends" isn't the best report I've ever had.
The downgrade tool will flash any bootable phone with a 2.1 stock ROM that works on both screens - it doesn't matter if the current ROM is rooted, custom, stock, broken, so long as it is bootable and the sdcard works.
I have the hboot 0.93.0001, can i root it using a goldcard ?
My phone discovered a 2.2 OTA update a couple of days ago, i don't know the official number or any details other than:
It's an Android OS update patch
It comes with multi inbox Gmail support
Improved RUS keyboard layout
and it's 25.06MB to download.
What i'd like to know is, what would happen if i install it? Would i lose root? Could i brick my device? I've got an SLCD Desire, originally on the 0.83 HBOOT, with the 5.09.00.20 radio. I rooted it on 2.1 using Unrevoked and a custom SLCD recovery image and then flashed this ROM (Rooted Stock Froyo with Sense). My current build is 2.09.405.8 CL218634 release-keys
I'm basically wondering what the risks of installing this update are, will i lose root, or my ability to boot into a custom recovery? Will it update my HBOOT making my phone harder to root again further down the line?
Any advice would be a massive help, i'm struggling to resist the temptation of new software.
Thanks.
Very easy. You will loose root. Wait a bit and you'll be able to root it back again with unrevoked 3.21 (not finished yet).
hi guys, as mentioned i am interested in rooting my desire.... below are some details of my desire and questions
- i bought a 2nd hand desire ( i suspect its rooted before *forgot to check* cos it has the superuser icon
- its running the bravo PVT4 S-on currently. Hboot 0.93.0001 Aug 12 2010
- current version: Froyo WWE 2.13.707.2 (suspected the user has applied OTA update) release 274424, baseband version 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
-------heres comes my question------
rooting should be simple (from what i read using unrevoked)
i will be using unrevoked and creating a goldcard just incase...i will read the rest up.
1) how to remove the superuser icon when i unroot?
2) considering this has the OTA update can i use the official RUU and unroot without issues?
3) will my apps be there after i root?
4) how abt if i restore using rom manager wif the backup i create once after i root, will the apps be there?
PS i am totally new to android and its my first android phone and i dun wanna brick it....i also believe there are alot of nice people here as i have been here since the Touch HD days
1 & 2. You can only unroot by flashing the stock RUU, and I'm pretty sure the one you're on doesn't exist. You can try the .1 RUU on Shipped-ROMs but don't know if it'll work
3. Yes
4. Yes

thanks for replying....
yup, the current one has no official RUU cos i believe its the OTA update
the RUU i can find is 2.13.707.1 (and afew differences) now my concern is if i wanna unroot using this RUU will it work or will it have any complications?
(take note that i am rooting on 2.13.707.2, and some differences in some other numbers)
any help?
thanks
Unless I am mistaken your phone is already rooted. The only way to have the superuser app is if you are rooted.
It should work but I dont think anyone will be able to 'guarantee' it!

Why not return it to stock WWE version by using RRU and start from there?
You will need a goldcard and probably for it not to be SIM-locked.

if you want to root official 2.3.3 you can do it directly without downgrading.
search the forums or google, should find: http://revolutionary.io/
there are also guides on the forums or google
im aware of this i would just rather use unrevoked as its garunteed to work rather than this thats still in beta
It cant be done, you can only downgrade the hboot if you're s-off with revolutionary.
