60 fps? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can i get the 60 fps mod on stock rooted 2.2?
Sent from my ROOTED HTC EVO4G using Tapatalk

What?

Idk if there is a 60 fps mod but there is one to break through the 30 fps barrier. I would guess the average fps of a custom rom found on these forums to be about 50 fps.

Highest I've ever got was 56 fps.. Anywhere in 50 is plenty I don't see lag anywhere.

What rom/kernal did you use to achieve 56? I've tried several different rom and Kernal combinations but they all seem to stay at 54. Im not a weirdo about fps, just curious.

Why is it you thought this didn't belong in the Q&A section?

OP just flash a different kernel... I recommend netarchy's.

Gears for android, fps2d.

Pretty sure it was calkulin rom and netarchy....if your overclocking it will help results. 54 is just as good

Nets and kings kernels for Sense will definitely get around 50fps and the stock CM6 kernel and Snap kernels deliver the same.. I usually get 53 and I'm using CM6 with Snap v8.2 kernel.

Off topic, what's everyone's input on the quickest rom/kernal? Cm6?

Quickest kernel? nets or kings are both extremely fast.
Rom? Probably anything stripped of sense, or CM6 for example.

You probably have a novatech display, from what I understand the FPS fix has to set it at 54 instead of 60 in order to work right. I think Epson's may be able to get a few extra FPS but not enough to make a difference.

Performance Rom

Which ROM has the best performance? I am looking for a stable Rom that maximizes the speed of my evo. I need to be able to use wireless tether, camera, video camera, and basic features.
Thanks in advance.

Im using Fresh 3.1.. its very good as well.
I am using baked snack 1.2 and getting quadrants of upper 800's with linpack 37-42. Is cyanogen mod much quicker than that?

FPS & Kernel Question

Does our phone have the 30fps cap like the Evo has? I saw they have kernels that unlock the 30fps cap and it makes the phone really smooth and such. Also, will the kernels that are for roms with sense, if you use the skyraider vanilla rom, will it still work since it is a sense rom with some of the sense apk's removed?
I knpw that the 30 fps cap is debated, but i do know that skyraider is htc vanilla not aosp vanilla, so ypu can use kernels with it.

kernel for CM7 that is nohavs and nosbc?

I searched around with no luck. Has anyone seen a kernel for CM7 that is nohavs and nosbc? Does such an animal exist?

The stock kernel? I know what you're asking!! Just messing with you!
I haven't seen anything for aosp that is no havs, but plenty without sbc. Check out what savaged zen is doing now, very interesting. I'm very happy with the deck rom I am using now with the sz kernel, but I am keeping an eye on their rom.

wait a min. maybe im confused.. so the stock kernel is non-havs? Maybe the problem i'm having is unrelated.... everytime i use 'interactive governor' i get freezes and reboots... i thought this was voltage related.. not so?

Overclock

Can u overclock the dinc and if u can how do u do it. Thanks in advance
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
There are a couple of ways to overclock the dInc, but it depends on which kernel you use and what ROM you have. For froyo, Ziggy's are probably the best. Tiamat is very nice for AOSP gingerbread. An app called SetCPU can be found for free to XDA members on here. Just Google it. There's also a couple free apps on the market. If you're still using froyo, I suggest only Ziggy's because his will allow you to use scripts to change the speed and the voltage at every step and he lays it all out very nicely, including samples that you can just edit and mix together. The benefit of the script is it doesn't use system resources like an app would.
Pushing it to 1.153 should be hard with most kernels so long as they aren't undervolted. Some devices are stable at 1.19 and some even higher. Few will exceed 1.19 though. Overclocking and tweaking kernels can be an interesting thing. Most kernels with a sysfs or ramdisk will allow some kind of scripting. Definitely check out Chad's IncrediControl.
Another good kernel for ASOP Roms (both gingerbread and Froyo) is Incredikernel. Always check and see if the Rom you want to overclockable and if it doesn't say in the OP ask the creator of the Rom, they'd be happy to help you out. Also, make sure you know the correct way to flash a kernel. It's the same way you flash a Rom, so it shouldn't give you any trouble. Happy Flashing and Overclocking!
Thank-you guys. I'm using kingdom rewind 3d so ill ask joelz if it overclockable and if not...so be it. Once again thanks for the replies

None of the gingersense ROM's will be overclockable until HTC releases the kernel source. Which will happen sometime after we get the OTA. So it's either Froyo Sense or AOSP Gingerbread if you have to overclock.

It's not available on XDA anymore. I'm actually running Ziggy's kernel on it now. I'm gonna change my sig in a second.
I have found if the ROM is developed well enough, overclocking is not needed. You wont see too many benefits.

On 3G, not really. On fast WiFi or LTE, yes. That's when you're looking at situations where the device isn't waiting for data. That's where you'll see the bigger benefits of overclocking.

Doesn't really matter. Quadrant, linpack... you're comparing same setup to same setup. An overclock on one isn't going to yield comparatively different results when compared to any other... at least it SHOULDN'T.
This may be a stupid question...I am having trouble with all the kernels and ROMs determining what is a safe OC for my DInc. I am flashing CM7.0.3 now and I read that it's got OC built-in. I just wanted to OC to whatever is definitely safe. Is that 1.113 GHz or 1.153 GHz as indicated earlier in the thread?
Or is it something I'm going to have test on my device to see if it exhibits a specific symptom?

Your milage may vary, but usually when things become unstable you can't really naviagte to anything and you get a bunch of reboots, or so it has been in my case, but again YMMV.

Every kernel dev has his own choices for kernel voltage and that's usually the single biggest variable in what stable will be. 1.113 should be stable for most devices though.
Thanks for the responses. I tried 1.113 on CM7 (7.0.3) on my Incredible and I started getting constant reboots. I put it back to 998. Maybe I'll try another setting later.

[Q] Best kernel and rom combination for battery life?

So I decided to go back to an Epic instead of an Evo. I had the Epic when it first came out up until around January. Last things I remember from the Epic development scene was Herver and his Baked Snack Roms and Kernels. (what ever happened to him anyways?) I am obviously in no way familiar with the current crop of roms and kernels and would appreciate suggestions on where to start and I'll test combos to see what works best for me. Froyo and Gingerbread based Roms please.

I too am looking for the best battery life and I'm having trouble getting it. Currently trying out latest random rom for EC05 and its decent but nothing amazing, I've also loaded the super V6 memory script and the battery just doesn't hold up very well. Where can I get the old baked snack roms?
Sorry to let you guys down, but I can't seem to find the files for baked snack. I'll keep looking though.
i had excellent battery life on the bonsai rom and kernel
Rebirth + Genocide, 38 hrs. moderate use........
Syndicate frozen 1.2 and genocide 2.0 give me the best battery and stability so far, but random rom is a very close second, and then probably viper synergy 5.0. The gb leaks were good with battery too, but I had too many fc issues with them. I would love to try this baked snack I keep reading about though. I've seen a lot of random posts here and there mentioning it, and always boasting about the battery life on it. A pm with any info on its whereabouts would be greatly appreciated. Then again, syndicate 1.3 seems to be just around the corner too, so I'm really interested to see what's in store with that as well.

I am hooked on random rom hawk, battery life is amazing. It usually only drops about 1-2% an hour for me sitting idle. I have heard urban warfare is very good on battery life as well. Gingerbread leak roms are still pretty unstable at this point though. Only try them if you have a good backup procedure down, and are prepared to get hit with force closes and random reboots at any given time. If you need the stability, stick with EC05 roms.

I've tried several roms froyo and gb and the best battery and performance I seen was with randomroms 2.3. Rom but the random reboots kept pissing me off so I wentt to pheonix and its been pretty good I hadbetter battery life with hawk but this is better for now.
I also would like to try backed snack so if anyone has the url t the rom or anything can you please let me know
I found one rom a long time ago butit was 2.1 so I didn't like it I kno there is a froyo one but I can't find it anywhere if anyone has it it would be greatly appreciated if you shared it.
