Performance Rom - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which ROM has the best performance? I am looking for a stable Rom that maximizes the speed of my evo. I need to be able to use wireless tether, camera, video camera, and basic features.
Thanks in advance.

CyanogenMod just no 4G and HDMI
Im using Fresh 3.1.. its very good as well.

I am using baked snack 1.2 and getting quadrants of upper 800's with linpack 37-42. Is cyanogen mod much quicker than that?

[Q] Best slide [ROM].

Hey everyone. My wife decided her mytouch slide is a little too laggy for her. I have rooted and flashed HTC phones and my vibrant with great success. I am going to do her phone this weekend but I need some help please. I do NOT follow this forum at all so I have no idea what [ROM]s are stable and functioning for everyone else. If I could please get some input from you guys that have been here and have tested these out it would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance
Start with the Slide bible: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=704567
Personally, I think this is the easiest root method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754020
If you want Froyo, Cyanogen is very good if you don't need bluetooth: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755118
If bluetooth is important for you, CR_Mod is said to be an excellent 2.1 ROM. I haven't tried it personally, Froyo is too yummy for me to go back. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7534187#post7534187
Good luck!
The dopio oc kernels are also very stable esp at 768 and 806. Just use set cpu app to maximize battery life.
The cm nightlies are also usually very stable.
The slide reloaded rom is also a sweet themed version of cr's full ota rom.

Yeah was looking for froyo but not necessary. Looked through the bible but wanted some real world feedback. I'm usually partial to eugene373's roms. But cyanogen is a god. Thanks guys. I'll let it ride for a lil while before I make a decision.

Yeah, for my uses, Cyan with the dopio kernel is the way to go 100%. But you never know, once you get the ENG flashed, let your wife play with all the ROMs she can handle until she finds one she likes. ROM Manager makes it ridiculously easy.
What about the galaxy slide rom by infinitybiff? Anyone tried that? I don't use touch wiz on my vibrant but the wife might like it. Still leaning towards cyan. Just need something fast and stable for her. I'm gonna have to theme it for her myself cause there is no one doing that.

cyanogenmod or crmod
I just flashed Galaxy Slide Beta the other day after using CR for the longest time. its the first ROM that i have flashed (and there have been many) that i didn't immediately flash straight back to CR. i am having a minor trouble with the color scheme in the notification pull down and i haven't tried all the features yet... (i.e. bluetooth, tethering, and maybe one or two more) but all in all i love it!

The dopio kernel is integrated into cyanogenmod 6.1+, no need to flash it over again, but other roms you will have to flash it.

Cyanogenmod is froyo, and based off of the AOSP source, so it has a more vanilla flavor to it. CR_Mod is just the rooted stock OTA ROM with a wifi tether, and a2ext built in. CR_Mod is also eclair, it just all depends on what you like better, the latest vanilla customizable stuff, or the more stock HTC sense feel, with all of the t-mobile stuff.

There are many Rom's that are good.
It's just a question of which one you like and then stick with it.
I have tested just about all of them. But keep coming back to Fresh, I have been mainly on 3.3.0.1. If you donate to his cause you can also get his kitchen which lets you do more on it.
Plus there are so many themes that you can change it's look without really changing the ROM.
Good luck Flashing, and Remember Nandroid is your friend here.
Oh I also use amon_ra as it's been the best at clearing the Caches for flashing.
Vaekpak for minimal SENSE with 4g.
MIUI if 4g and MMS ever get resolved.

I'm on the latest Nightly with Snap BFS. Came from the DesireHD rom. That rom is the definition of sick, but unfortunately it's battery life is the worst I've seen on the Evo.

Sure, sounds good....How do we get that done?
J/K. There are some great Roms out there by many developers each offering it's own flavor....My personal favorite is Myn's. I might be biased here because of my HTC Vogue days and his ability to turn that device into a fully operating Android machine! His EVO Rom offers stability, speed, looks, and something that just says wow....
Also, if you want the next best thing but can live without some features and don't mind things not being perfect, check out Zippy's Desire HD Rom. Also Bcnices's MIUI Rom.
I am pretty sure Calkulin's Rom would be pretty close to perfect as I have ran his prior versions on my EVO and they have worked well.....Also check out Virus and Ava. I am sure I am forgetting some of the other top dogs out there.
Most of the developers have gotten a pretty good handle on there Roms so I suggest reading through them to see what the comments are within the thread which should help with your decision making.....
You can find most of the Roms within the first 2 pages.....If it has fallen below that, I would question it....

2nd that. I also use Calkulin's 1.3.1 and after adjusting oc profiles to 1152, I get amazing speed and battery life. Also did away with HTC scene for ADW and found all the widgets lost with HTC scene like music player and grid calendar. Really dumped HTC for ADW for landscape support. Just make sure to pick one as default because you will take a hit with both running.
I tried almost all the roms here and it depends of your flavor lol, anyways sense roms favorite is myns is just looks clean and functional with eye candy ha ha but fresh and calkulin Rom are good as well and fast and stable. I'm trying evervolv v 0.2 I it comes with the slate theme from desire HD dump Rom and it looks really good so far it looks stable, if you don't like sense then I hues CM 6 will be good, the other roms are great but never left them for over a day idk y ha ha, there is one that I like but I forgot the name and is new too. I think this guys are doing a great job with their roms that have manage to put something really good for us and they all deserve credit

If you want something that looks different and works great.
I recommend Evo Zone. It is by far the best looking Rom out here. It is original and creative in its look.
As far as battery life goes, you can try different kernels till you find the one that works best for you.

Also my rom Sexy Evo Has awesome download speeds, and a sexy rosie, but i dont update it that much.

ROM Recommendations.

I Would Prefer an AOSP ROM,but last time i did that the PRL was outdated and my coverage was such garbage i had to use wifi.if i flash the latest radio and whatnot,THEN an aosp rom, which one?...im not big on sense,i have alot of apps,so apps2sd enabled is preferred, possibly a custom kernel but idk if the evo can even be safely over/underclocked.and also,i had an amazing experience with godmode in synergy,is there any other rom that comes close to that kinda performance...im being picky hell id cook my oen,but no PC.
Shooter Evo 4G
Cm7 latest version with Tiamat 3.3.7 kernal. Can get 24 hours depending on usage.
World peace with no regard for human life.
Whats a good sense rom thats stable?i mean everything ive seen has somethin messed up like 4g,sms errors...multiple bugs.i need something stable, where u dont need to keep flashing back n forth.froyo gingerbread i dont care my main concerns are a smooth performance with optimal battery life,i possibly wanna put in an SBC kernel....

How about for myself.
I have my EVO flashed over to MetroPCS and currently have Metrodroid2.2 running on the phone. Would I be best to continue running with that ROM, or switching over to CM7.1 along with a patch from the Metrodroid thread for MMS?
What is best for me?

Give the latest SalvageMod AOSP ROM a try you can use Tiamat's SBC kernel if that's what you prefer. Coming from CM7, I like this one more.
Ive tried r3charged,i had multiple sms errors, now im on stock rooted deodexed,i havent had any issues.by stable i mean a RC that has no bugs.i know that may be asking alot, but i cant afford to not have all my features intact.also,i had issuea with multiple different AOSP roms, poor signal and weaker wifi, even with the latest radio combo pack....so im gunna steer clear of CM7.

[Q] Best kernel and rom combination for battery life?

So I decided to go back to an Epic instead of an Evo. I had the Epic when it first came out up until around January. Last things I remember from the Epic development scene was Herver and his Baked Snack Roms and Kernels. (what ever happened to him anyways?) I am obviously in no way familiar with the current crop of roms and kernels and would appreciate suggestions on where to start and I'll test combos to see what works best for me. Froyo and Gingerbread based Roms please.

I too am looking for the best battery life and I'm having trouble getting it. Currently trying out latest random rom for EC05 and its decent but nothing amazing, I've also loaded the super V6 memory script and the battery just doesn't hold up very well. Where can I get the old baked snack roms?
Sorry to let you guys down, but I can't seem to find the files for baked snack. I'll keep looking though.
i had excellent battery life on the bonsai rom and kernel
Rebirth + Genocide, 38 hrs. moderate use........
Syndicate frozen 1.2 and genocide 2.0 give me the best battery and stability so far, but random rom is a very close second, and then probably viper synergy 5.0. The gb leaks were good with battery too, but I had too many fc issues with them. I would love to try this baked snack I keep reading about though. I've seen a lot of random posts here and there mentioning it, and always boasting about the battery life on it. A pm with any info on its whereabouts would be greatly appreciated. Then again, syndicate 1.3 seems to be just around the corner too, so I'm really interested to see what's in store with that as well.

I am hooked on random rom hawk, battery life is amazing. It usually only drops about 1-2% an hour for me sitting idle. I have heard urban warfare is very good on battery life as well. Gingerbread leak roms are still pretty unstable at this point though. Only try them if you have a good backup procedure down, and are prepared to get hit with force closes and random reboots at any given time. If you need the stability, stick with EC05 roms.

I also would like to try backed snack so if anyone has the url t the rom or anything can you please let me know

That was my experience with Synergy (non Godmode). That and terrible lag. I take 50-100 full-res pics/day on construction project and need a working camera.
Any suggestions for a GB rom that compares to Myn's 2.2? Stable and easy on the battery. I'm looking to start playing with this video chat thing and it seems that Froyo based ROMS are a non-starter.
I have an extra Evo I can flash to take 'em for a spin. Would love to give it a go..

I lowered the ISO down to 200, and that seemed to fix my problem. But in any case, I've gotten the problems in Synergy as well as Mik (regardless of versions).
To be honest, I love Mik's rom's so much, I can deal with the camera issue for now. Battery life is amazing and performance is great. I use Lithid's kernel with Aggressive voltages and Interactive X govenor.
I'm waiting until Virus gets 4G implemented into his 3.5 Sense rom (in the changelog it says this might happen soon). I don't use 4G all the time, but I do like to have it "on demand" when I need and tether.
