Milestone 2 Section - About xda-developers.com

Hello
im wondering if the milestone 2 will get it's own section here on XDA once it's out The droid 2 has gotten it's and i was hoping the milestone will to but please don't put them together again like with droid1 and milestone1 because it will get extremly confusing plus there are already roms out for the Droid 2
Thanks
Also post if you also would likie to see a Milesonte 2 section

Probably. Just wait for it to come out.

+1. Would be especially confusing for noobs like me if the Droid 2 & Milestone 2 sections were mixed up.

On that same note can we get under the Droid 2 section the Droid 2 Global to be added as it is the same as the droid 2(or Milestone 2 however you look at it) but adds tri-band 3G GSM capabilities, a faster clocked cpu by default. All you need is a separate sub-section under the rom development area. Same thing with the Milestone just a sub-section is need under the rom area.

So are we getting this Milestone 2 dedicated Forum, Sub-section, something ?????

Nexus not the first ics phone?

The HTC rezound is set to launch 11/14 with ics. Do you think Verizon will get the nexus out before then?

It doesn't ship with ICS, it ships with Android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.5. But will get ICS later.

It's using Gingerbread
My fault I completely read the article title wrong

If you actually read the articles, you'd see that it's not launching with ICS, but will get an ICS update in 'early 2012'. That being said, the nexus will still be the first phone running ICS.
EDIT:Wow, beaten by like 5 people as I wrote this. Damn I'm getting slow.
Question answered (by a few people).

Incredible 2/S Differences

Ok if I seem like a noob I do give my apologies. I am just trying to make sure if I can use Incredible S roms on kernels on my incredible 2. From what I have seen there is not a huge difference, but since all I have for a reference on comparison is google images, I can not be sure...... I am just looking to see if it is safe (within reason) and possible for me to use some of the roms for the incredible S on my Incredible 2. Thanks
No...though they look identical they r different...Incredible 2 is a world phone whereas Incredible S is just GSM phone!
Second, there is also difference in their processors.. u can see it if u compar them in gsmarena.com n that's why u just can't flash Incredible S roms to Incredible 2 n vice-versa..! U may be able to boot sometimes...But u will b left with no network!
As far I know...porting roms between them is quite easy if u want GSM in Incredible 2...because of their other similarities...!

Hardware wise, both the Incredible 2 and the Incredible S are exactly the same except for the slight processor difference and radio difference. The Incredible 2 comes with Qualcomm's MSM8655 processor while the Incredible S comes with Qualcomm's MSM8255 processor. The Incredible S is a GSM phone and the Incredible 2 is a World phone (primarily centered towards CDMA, but works with GSM proviced you give a code to Verizon)
Software wise, the Incredible 2 and S have a tremendous difference at the moment. Some Incredible S owners have ICS in their phone while others are stuck on gingerbread with Sense 3.0. Our Incredible 2 is stuck on gingerbread with Sense 2.1 (thanks Verizon).
As for kernels, if you're willing to change every piece of coding that makes the kernel work for the Incredible S and tweak it for the Incredible 2, then by all means give it a shot.

Ya gotta read around here more. We have a WIP build here in our dev section. Good rule of thumb is if you don't really know your way around then its best to stay in your own backyard..ie the att note II forum . Were here to help!

Best advice ever. I recommend lurking a bit here for a few days, maybe a week, to really learn as much as possible. It may seem daunting at first, but it is totally worth it. I'm a recovering flash addict myself, but we do have CM10 in the works and like you, I'm very excited! If you would like, PM me or something and I'll help intro you a bit to XDA.

Incredible 2, HTC Rhyme, Droid 3, or Droid X2?

Hi,
I'm looking for a 3G only phone for Page Plus and it seems like the Incredible 2, HTC Rhyme, Droid 3, and Droid X2 are the best choices.
From what I've read, only the Incredible 2 and HTC Rhyme will be getting ICS. If that is true, I'll probably get one of those. Anyone know when this will happen and whether it is true?
Which phone is better?
It's been a long road so far for us to get any update to ICS, and there haven't been any signs that we'll be getting it soon. The Thunderbolt did get it, which leaves some hope for the Inc2, but it isn't for sure. I don't know about the Rhyme having ICS. As for the other Droids I don't have any experience with them.
All that being said the Inc2 has a really good community so you can be sure that ICS/JB development will continue until the official update, at which point there will be CM10 and MIUI and ROMs you've never heard of. It sounds like... a dream..

Thanks, I bought the Droid 3. Now I need to figure out whether to keep it stock or put on a custom rom.

If you are questioning this you are not worthy of owning an android, for those truly worthy people, it isn't a question of if, but when.
