Hi folks
Might want to sticky this one... many rely on the Google Calendar for business like myself and this Google Calender issue has been well documented all over the internet with no apparent fix, so it might be worth making this visible for people to see. There is a bug with Google Calendar that some of you may already know about. I have tested this fix noted below and it works flawlessly on two different HTC devices.
Issue:
When you sync Google Calendar via any android phone, it will only pull entries within a 30 day date range, anything older than 30 days will NOT be displayed.. The data in your Google web calendar will display calendar dates older than 30 days (mine goes back to 2003). This issue was raised with Google in 2009 and nothing has been done about, there is a fix though!!
Fix:
From home screen hit menu and go to settings
In settings go to Accounts and Sync
Turn off the background update and autosync.
Go back to main settings menu and go to Applications
Go into manage applications
Press menu button again and select Filter and then All.
Find Calendar and select it and delete all data (it will warn you about losing all files just hit OK).
Do the same for Calendar Storage.
Go back to main Settings menu and scroll down to Date and time.
Turn off Automatic and then set date to January 1st 2009 and hit set. (I tried to go all the way back to 2006 on my first try and it just kept rolling the date back to the current one)
Wait a second and make sure date remains set to the date you selected. Then select Date again and select your desired date (should be before first entry on calendar.)
Go back into Settings menu and select Accounts and sync.
Select the Calendar to sync and then go into calendar to ensure its all there.
Once it is you can then safely turn on auto time and date again and let all apps auto update in background.
Thanks to Wade for his help.
thanks, will give it a try. I must admit I never had any problem syncing my calendar since 2001 while using HTC roms. The problem only occurs using non-sense roms for which it would only sync the past 30 days.
Why does it affect non-sense roms only?

Thanks - that's odd cause I did not experience the problem on my hero and desire until I started using a non-Sense ROM a few weeks ago - i've had my full calendar since 2001 on both devices until a few weeks ago!
By the way the trick did not work - my exchange server refused to synchronise my calendar when i set a date that did not match the date on the server...
given the lack of interest of others for this thread it sounds like only a minority of users are experiencing the problem - as i wrote earlier, i did not experience it in 3 years of running Android on various devices until I rooted my desire and installed a non-sense froyo rom. My calendar went back to 2001, and I could sync them all with my android devices until recently.
btw I have not seen many threads about the problem on xda either....

Interesting... point.
I only noticed this after I rooted as well. I guess the people that experienced this in the links I provided above must have rooted their phones too. Anyway, this thread is here for those that need to reflect back on previous appointments that aren't visible.
Doesn't work on my I9000
Sync sign appear just for a few sec and then disappears. On Calendar Storage just 40K of data seems to be downloaded instead of several MB (full of events from 2004)...
i tried it but it won't work for me
any other solution?
i really need more than 30 days

The only fix is to install a HTC rom and you'll get all your appointments back... sorry for not being any more helpful. I must admit this is an issue I have experienced with all non-htc roms on all my devices, from the hero to the desire and my Asus eeepad transformer
did not work
Hi,
I have an HTC Sensation XE, but this trick did not work... any other idea?
Where the limitation is coming from ?
- the server side or device side.. if it is device side it could be that somebody would be able to implement something where we could chose the timeframe for sync (like the gSyncIt tool for outlook)
Thanks
Does also happen at devices which are not rooted
I'm tired of posts blaming rooting of devices for every bug in Android. My brand new (December) Galxay Note is not rooted (yet) and it does not sync events from November. However, many missing basic features (e.g. a bitwise backup of the internal flash, like nandroid) in Android make living without rooting very dangerous: On my old, rooted Milestone 1, the system corrupted itself several times, and I could restore with Nandroid. Many (payed) apps after some time destroyed themselves with "updates", and I could roll back with Titanium.
CalenGoo to the rescue
While I love a technological fight as much as the next guy, this syncing issue with Google Calendar and Android phones is a waste of flipping time.
Yes I know that Google's calendar sync works for some people, some of the time.
Yes, I know theirs is built in... and used to work... and should work... and Google is being a butt for not getting it resolved.
But sorry -- it's time to get back to work.
Following the suggestion of a post earlier in this thread, I installed CalenGoo and all this [email protected] is far, far behind me.
Installed, configured and synced perfectly in about 5 minutes.
I don't work for CalenGoo, don't know anyone who does -- don't get nuthin' for mentioning it. But give it a whirl -- and when you see how quickly it works, you'll be triply pi$$ed at Google.
(f-it -- I'm to new to post URLs, so just search Calengoo in the store)
Thank you so much man, this is even happening in top recent roms like [AllianceROM][6.0][26.01]LS8
Worked on my rooted Note 3
Thanks!!! This worked on my rooted Note 3 but can not get it to work on my Note Edge. When syncing NE it gives the red indicator failed to sync.
It worked, PARTLY. All my Google calendar entries from the beginning (2009) are now synced with my phones. However, when I do a search for particular entries it cannot only find entries beginning November, 2017 not anything earlier.

I've been a Windows Mobile user for 5 or so years and I just today took my first plunge into Android with the Evo4G. I have always have a customer firmware flashed.
Now, I'm running stock Froyo and I need help! Please help me figure a few key things out:
How do I switch tasks???!!!?!
What is the best (power user / this community) way to kill certain apps? I see a few different app killers which one is the best?
I am used to a completely customizable home screen and I'm finding the Sense UI used on the Evo limiting. How do I change to the smaller version of the HTC clocks and etc? I haven't seen any of the custom ROMs out for the Evo utilize different homescreen elements.
Calender is a big pain! I am used to listing 1, 2, 3, or 4 appointments on my home screen with the date and time they are happening. I see an HTC widget for calender but it only lists my appointments. It doesn't which day they are occurring and I don't even think they are in order!! How do I change this? This is critical for me. I use my phone for work.
GMail. On my WM phone I used google's exchange servers to sync mail, appointments, and etc. On android is this all done in the background? Is my Gmail app preferable or the built in android mail app? OR the HTC mail app?
Can I set a different sound for email / sms / mms ?
Google voice. Is there a way to completely emulate google voice on my phone? For instance, every time I send a text message and receive a text message, can I set it to go through google voice without using the app?
I'm basically struggling with the best ways of doing simple things. Calender, task switching, and CLOSING APPS AFTER IM DONE USING THEM being the things I have the most problems with.
I tried searching for this stuff but it seems like everyone just assumes everyone else knows how to do this stuff.
Please help! Thanks.
How do I switch tasks???!!!?! Hold down the "home" key for a few seconds. your open programs will pop-up
What is the best (power user / this community) way to kill certain apps? I see a few different app killers which one is the best? Advanced task killer. i think it's free.

Touch and hold on the wdiget you want to change. drag it to the trash bin at the bottom. then hold the empty space and choose a new widget.

Can I set a different sound for email / sms / mms ? You should be able to. go into messaging, hit menu>settings and scroll down for notification sounds. do this for email as well. then go to main phone settings>sounds>notification and change the default notification sound for everything else.
Google voice. Is there a way to completely emulate google voice on my phone? For instance, every time I send a text message and receive a text message, can I set it to go through google voice without using the app? sorry, i've got no clue on this one.
EDIT: P.S. contrary to the minority of a-holes here, we really ARE here to help. just ask. i'll help you with whatever i can.
for google voice. im not sure it works for sms/mms but once its installed (yes you have to install it) add a shortcut to your desktop for it. long press, add shortcut->google voice.
that will toggle the use of it for calls. if you do it report back for sms/mms
Pressing and holding the home button will only give you the last 6 apps you opened (regardless if they're still open or closed). You're looking for something like the switcher widget, which will give you a tray of apps that are still open, so you can return to them at any time. Switcher widget + quickdesk is a great combo.
As far as killing apps go, keep in mind that Android manages resourses differently than wm, and will shut down the app when those resources are actually needed. While just sitting in the background, the amount of battery and CPU they use is negligible.
+1 for pure calendar
For gmail, use the gmail app. It's much more functional than the other options and will still push email, calendar, and contacts in the background. Use the other email options for other POP3 or exchange accounts.

this is true. i suppose he could also use Power Strip, but that just allows you to open apps while in another app. it's not really an "open app manager"

I love Android Agenda Widget for the calendar. It is very similar to the today plugin calander from SBP on WM...best of all, it's free.

For the Google Voice SMS thing, when you install GV and then goto messaging it asks you if you want to use Messaging or Google Voice... choose Gv and set it as default.
Thanks for the replies, guys!
I've been hearing that using Gmail/hotmail will allow you to see all your calendars. On the contrary, I've also heard that you can only sync your primary calendar.
So what is it?

I know! So I'd like some clarification.
You can sync multiple calendars to your device, these are aggregated on the phone and displayed using different colors in the calendar view. It will also allow you to reschedule if two (or more) entries from different calendars clash.
from each mail service that you might have only the primary calendar will be displayed.
i.e hotmail you have calender 1 and calender 2
gmail you have calender 1 and calender 2
wp7 will display both gmail and hotmail calenders but will only show calender 1 from both services..

The devices aren't even out yet and we don't have full information. Relax for a couple weeks and get the complete picture before you jump the gun.
We already now that. From microsoft:
Note
You can sync only one calendar per account. If you have multiple calendars associated with an account, your phone will recognize which calendar is the primary calendar and sync that one. Source: I cannot put links, but in the windows phone webpage, look for calendar faq
And also some people have noticed this some time ago as you can see here:
Windowsphonesecrets look for "Calendar as the Windows Phone simplicity poster child"
I was going to buy Htc Mozart the 21st of October but now I'm thinking about it. I hope they fix it but the same happens with other windows mobile phones, 6 6.1 6.5 ....

yes, but even microsoft puts on their support-page that only the first calendar is supported. I can choose a new phone bei november and i guess, that they won't patch it until then. (if they ever will)

Same story as the iPhone when it came out and it didn't stop them from adding all the advanced stuff later on as the platform grew.
If you need all those advanced options, wait. Microsoft have made a "business oriented" smartphone OS for years, they know people want these things and they will add them when they think it's time to.
I'm sure they're working the asses off for the very first update which will hopefully bring some of the features people have been ranting about.

Calendar Sync
Hi I have got an outlook 2010 and installed therein my po3 mail account. How can I sync that calendar with my wm7 device? Before with wm6 system I used the active Sync..
Thanks

1) is it possible to use more than 1 google account? so, at least, i could use the calender from my wife.
2) is there/will there be 3rd-party calendar-applications who allow more than just the main calendar from 1 source?

I haven't seen any thread on what people have noticed from the update. So it would be nice if people who have updated to 8107 could comment on what sorta fixes they've noticed besides the dissapearing keyboard/stuff on the changelog. Any speed improvements? Also, does the gmail issue fix the server search? I've been waiting a log time for that fix
My Titan is louder! especially with microsoft tell me and navigation instructions.
Also it seems snappier and either ATT upped our internet it this area the same night, or my browser seems faster (full foxnews or cnn in about 2 seconds... note not mobile versions)
Text word prediction also seems to have gotten very accurate. Like it was back in the pre nodo days. (it seemed less accurate especially after mango)
Anyone else see anything new?
i have an ATT titan as well, im just a little hesitant to update it. What happens when the official update comes out? Also, have you ever noticed the problem where if you send multiple messages in a chat application or maybe even text messages, the last word from the previous message gets repeated in the new message? I hope thats gone too
Yeah im waiting for att to push this update next week. Not doing the manual update
Sent from my T8788 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I haven't seen anything new jump out at me so far after installing 8107 last night. Maybe it's all in my head, but everything does seem a split second faster and more responsive too. I did have a problem earlier this evening where a text message started coming in and then my phone got permanently stuck in airplane mode. I had to reboot to get airplane mode to finally turn off.
I did the manual update on an ATT TITAN. Seems snappier somehow to me as well, but it might be wishful thinking.
I am not that worried about wanting to take a different path once they release since I can just restore from backup and then take the update.
If I notice anything substantial I will post back tomorrow.

8107 on Focus S
I went ahead with the update. My notes:
Keyboard no longer disappears, but keyboard lag that plagues the Focus S is still there (it might be better than before - I'd gotten used to it and now I only notice the lag during high speed typing).
Overall system performance feels the same; that is, still fast.
I don't connect to Exchange so I can't comment on the fix that was supposed to happen in 7740.
I do not have either the 3G toggle or the ability to sync with a carrier time clock. Both options might be device or carrier specific (I haven't run the Samsung utility).
When someone mentioned their device seems louder, it made me realize my phone is louder too - my system sounds have been louder, notably the sound when you charge it and reminders. Music and call volume through headphones and bluetooth are unchanged. I think Mango quieted system sounds (which I liked), and now this update has returned them to pre-Mango volume level.
I haven't tested the so-called SMS bug (because I don't want to hard reset my phone if it isn't fixed).
My guess is this release won't be sent out to all users, only users of devices or on carriers where the fixes are appropriate. I bet when they fix the SMS issue, they'll force a cumulative update. I hope that's soon.

How would you do that? The combination of characters to cause this bug hasn't been revealed yet, has it?
At least I hope it hasn't.
But according to a tweet by Tom Warren (who was apparently involved in uncovering this bug) has confirmed that the bug has not been fixed. Also this version (8107) is from early December before the SMS bug was made public.

If Google "fixes" that (fixes = implements), then yes... This is not MS's problem. Google does not offer Exchange. What they offer is some wannabe implementation of exchange that doesn't support server-side search. They provide it just on Android - and only in their proprietary application. Nor iOS, nor WM can do that either.
Gmail server search has always worked on my old iPhone.

Music is different. I can't put my finger on it but it's not louder, but i guess on my higher quality songs i got from zune, it seems clearer on my titan. Also no click between songs.
Is it just me or do the live tiles seem to start moving faster as you get to them?
Also does your browsing on the internet (using desktop mode) seem faster? Mine does.
More snappier. Performance
more typing accuracy.
slightly , but very slight battery life improvement
WiFi seems slightly faster now.
Te keyboard disappearing problems seems to be solved.
There's a thread on the Lenovo forums (that i'm not allowed to post a link to) about it, but no actual reaction from Lenovo.
Can anyone who's running stock confirm that syncing contacts with Google is severely broken?
I was about ready to give up waiting for a fix from Lenovo and try the official LOS 14.1, but since OEM unlocking is broken on Lenovo's side as well... I don't see any option to fix this.
Kind of disappointing to see so little manufacturer support for what I still think is a great phone, hardware wise.

There is an APK update of Lenovo contact manager which fixes this issue. Refer to Lenovo Community forum for details. It works well, I dont understand why Lenovo does not release this patch on their web site.

Facing the same issue.. found this link on lenovo.. Not tried yet

Bros,
I could able to sync my google contacts using the S244 deodexed ROM. Ofcourse this ROM also have the contact syncing issue. What I did was as soon as I connected to the google account I went to Setting-Accounts-Google Account and stay at there. when ever, the CONTACT syncing become idle, I used to OFF and ON it and reenable to syncing until all my contacts sync fully. You may have to stay there atleast 10 to 15 minutes depends on your number contacts to sync. How ever, once you have completed your syncing, it will then automatically continue syncing when ever you add or delete the contacts. To know whether google sync all your contacts to phone, usually, google sync the images of the contacts only on the last stage. Make sure that all contacts images appeared on your phones contacts, then you can assume that it is on final stage. and then, what ever the times you ON and OFF the CONTACT syncing, it will become idle even in a fraction of second when it is finished the entire contacts. Also you can check the total number of contacts going to your desktop and check with your contacts.google.com and login there and take numbers appearing on the left side.
This issue is normally happening because of the google+ handle in the contacts. So if you can try removing the google+ profile from each contacts and it may sync without any hindrance ( I am not sure). Anyway the above methods works for me several times and if any time, the syncing struck for a long time, I used to restart the phone one more time and continue the same process as mentioned above. Try yourselves and profit !!
contacts not syncing but bootlaoder unlocked

feeling very bad for this device for the lack of support from the OEM i just love this device.
As for the syncing issue I am annoyed of this problem, the only we can do know is to make a contacts backup to the internal storage regularly and then to save this file in the google drive.
But I do have to say that i was able to get the permission from lenovo for unlocking the bootloader from the developer option in the setttings menu.

I got this new contact manager app from Lenovo India. It solved the contact syncing issue on stock lenovo p2 rom. Just ensure that you clear cache of contact manager after installing this apk and exclude it from battery optimisation rule for seamless sync.
Hi guys have been trying to install Maildroid on my Fold 3 but keep getting this error.
Have downloaded from the play store and also the Dev's website but this comes up eveytime.
l might add that the page is unresponsive and the only thing l can do is shut it down. I have also set all permissions.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Is this app still getting updates? (I see the last one is from august '21)
I paid many years ago for premium and liked it all out for sometime, eventually switched to Aqua Mail Pro because I wasn't happy with Maildroid anymore.
Anyway what I mean is, maybe it is also time for you switching away to better alternatives
Just tried it out for you installing Maildroid Pro and I didn't have any issues installing and adding my Gmail account.

I think you are right there - I managed to get it running but it will not play well with office 365.
The main reason I am trying it is because it appears it the only android mail client that can save emails to different accounts - which Apple has been able to do since the year dot!!!

I also loved it, but on going development is important I think especially when it is a email client.
Of course others are also not guaranteed in the future, Aqua Mail Pro is for me the same but better than Maildroid.
But with Aqua Mail I got a problem after updating to Android 12, when closing the window and reopening it doesn't refresh but stays like you closed it.
Devs says, we got more reports but think it is because of Samsung so they said wait
I was able installing Maildroid on my Fold3, I guess something is blocking it for you installing it?.

l got it running in the end - I think it was a server connection issue their end as I tried it an hour ago and it connected and I was able to set it up fine - until I tried the office 365 account which failed miserably.
So now its history
Tried Aqua as well but the 365 account is a company one - meaning they will only let a select few mail clients connect.
Bottom line is I'm screwed - so will move all the emails between accounts on my Macbook at the end of each day
I gave up on Maildriod last year. It was the best IMHO, but they stopped supporting it. I went with Samsung Mail FWIW.

I've not had that issue with Aqua Mail Pro. But, I do recommend the app! Better than the old one I used on my previous phone.

I tried a lot of things. Aqua Mail and one other app is acting like this since 12, hard reset or reinstall doesn't fix it,

Weird. What's the other app? Did you try uninstalling it and then seeing if Aqua Mail does that thing still?
